Feeling like a little BBQ today...
Michelle Y.

Stopped in for some dinner...smelled good in the parking lot...and.... YESSSSS!!! Delicious!! Pulled chicken was tender and flavorful. Added just a dash of the Memphis Blue sauce to kick up the flavor and was impressed. Topped with slaw and a side of baked beans...all good. We also the meat sampler with sausage, sliced Turley, and pulled pork. Sausage and pulled pork beat out the turkey with flavor. Turkey could use some help. Pleasant staff, clean restaurant. Overall a great dining experience!

Spare ribs, Burger, Pulled Chicken Sandwich, Baked Beans, Mac and Cheese

First time here and it was definitely tasty! The quality of the food was good for "fast food" and I appreciated the way that you can customize your meal by picking your sauce flavor. I actually purchased a bottle of their BBQ sauce because it was that good. The ribs were amazing and the baked beans were a 10/10. Only thing is that the food is superrrrr sweet, if I could modify the sweetness they'd get an extra star from me. Otherwise, definitely recommend you try if you're looking for good barbecue!

NC Style Pulled Pork Sandwich and serving size Mac and cheese

It's a restaurant that has a military theme paying homage to our service members! You go to the counter to place and pay for your meal. You can either go sit down and have someone bring you the food or just wait at the counter for your food and go sit down. I did the latter. The cashier was patient and even signed a little (a plus). She also checked on me throughout the time I was there dinning. The place is spacious and clean with ample amount of seating. Let's get to the food: I ordered the NC Style pulled pork sandwich with the serving size Mac and cheese. Idk why I always do this when I see "NC Style", being from NC and knowing I'm going to end up disappointed. With that being said, the BBQ wasn't bad, just wasn't NC style ‍. The Mac and cheese was average as well. The prices are really good for what you get, so I'll probably come back to try other items.

Social Distancing is strictly enforced. Staff is wearing gloves and mask. Staff is very friendly, welcoming and attentive. Food was great. I ordered the 5 bones baby back ribs and made it a combo(XXL combo). My sides were baked beans, green beans, & the Mac and cheese (extra cost). I haven't been in a while but I definitely had a pleasant return. Until next review, Follow me on IG at @kicknitwithki for more foodie updates

Mission Bbq has got the meats, the side dishes, and cool interior decor...however I just cant come to grips with their sauces. I really like their locations and their smoked meats but I do sneak in my favorite sauces to put on them or I just enjoy their bbq dry rub. Their staff team are always friendly and honestly, Im surprised that one woman named Autumn remembered my name so well. Cheers to her and all Mission Bbq staff in Laurel

Introduction to my date:…read more Continuing my alphabet series representing 2023, R is for Red Hot & Blue. I only visited once on the Saturday night (5/27/23) of Memorial Day 2023 weekend. I was not impressed overall with this place. So, in the spring 2023, I was infrequently dating a woman who lived in northern VA. Back in March, she said she would come visit me in MD. We even had the 1st weekend of April for her to have an overnight at my place, but she had to cancel that Saturday as her knee was hurting her from some prior car accident as I recall. By May, I was starting to date someone else who I had more interest in. We only saw each other once in those 1st 26 days of May in the early part of the month; so this was on the decline, but I was willing to consider how our weekend would be. Date experience: She came over on that Saturday evening. She got to my place showed her around the tour, but she took a phone call, which took an extra 15 minutes I think. And it took her longer than she said to get here, so I was already hungry. We got in my car. I said I know a great Peruvian chicken place in Laurel that I really liked. She said she didn't want that and hoped for some nice sit-down restaurant. I pulled over before fully leaving my condo complex searched on my phone figuring out where to go as I didn't have a back up plan discussing a couple of ideas. She said no to Mexican restaurant I suggested. I said I want to try Red Hot & Blue in old town Laurel, which she agreed. So, I already was annoyed by that. As we were driving, she referenced a late March trip I took with friends to Massanutten, VA. On that March trip, I had gotten her a gift from the gift shop. I asked my friend (who was also my ex-g/f) her thoughts. She said it dependent on how much you want to spend on her. I said not much as I don't like how she had told me to get something on the Massanutten trip. My ex agreed the refrigerator magnet was fine. On the way to Red Hot & Blue, she said you better have gotten me something good & not like a keychain. Well, a refrigerator magnet is about the equivalent. From that point forward, I checked out and knew the other woman who I started dating in early May would be the only one and ultimately my girlfriend that summer. Restaurant experience: We arrived. It's an older, small restaurant. Service was ok, a bit slow. While the food was decent, it was nothing to write home about either. I've had better BBQ in MD, even in Laurel. Frankly, I like Mission BBQ also in City of Laurel & elsewhere better. Also, the portion size of the beef brisket wasn't a whole lot. The potatoes were ok. I will give my date credit for 1 thing AND ONLY 1 thing; she did share some of her chicken with me as she saw mine wasn't that much food. It was expensive considering I didn't get that much brisket, and mediocre quality. My date was talking about weird stuff I wasn't interested in. I couldn't get the check fast enough, and by the way, they were kind of slow getting me the check. Of course, I paid for hers. Conclusions: We got back to my place. I took something to alter my state as I was pissed & annoyed with her. She did spend the night. She decided to end things as she didn't like how the night & morning went. I told her that's cool with me. I was going to send her packing anyway. Oh yeah, she was critical of the Massanutten fridge magnet, yet she took it anyway when she left for her scrap box. I should've hidden it. She left her sandals behind as she had brought other shoes. I texted her a few minutes later when I realized, but she said wrote too late to turn around at this point (might've already been on freeway) and to bring them down sometime, which I did not that long later. I discretely left in a plastic bag on a chair in front of her house, while she wasn't working and texted to let her know, which she simply said Ok (not even thanks). As for the Massanutten fridge magnet, for close a year after that I annoyed when I thought about my fridge without that magnet. In February 2024, I got a girlfriend, and we ended up going to Massanutten in April 2024, and I got a nicer magnet for my fridge. I probably wouldn't come back here as I was underwhelmed and further bad memories associated with this woman.

I found an egg shell in my potato salad and the brisket was terrible. Absolutely the last time I had ordered from Red Hot and blue. I absolutely deserve a refund for this underwhelming meal and will be contacting the restaurant first thing when they open .

An employee was being trained at the time, and the staff immediately let us know this upfront. I really appreciated that level of transparency because it prevents customers from wondering why someone might be unfamiliar with certain things. Once we were seated, our server Virginia was amazing. She came to our table right away and helped guide us through the menu with recommendations that worked perfectly for both me and my dining companion. I ordered the Texas Beef Brisket and Catfish Fingers with red-skinned mashed potatoes, steamed broccoli, and a cornbread muffin. The food arrived quickly and everything was delicious. The cornbread muffin was melt-in-your-mouth good. My only small note is that the steamed broccoli was a little more cooked than I prefer -- I enjoy my broccoli with more crunch -- but that is purely a personal preference. One thing that really stood out to me was how well the staff worked together. Multiple servers checked on us and every interaction came with a smile and professionalism. The restaurant itself was also very clean and well maintained, which made the experience even more enjoyable. After paying our bill, we had the opportunity to speak with the manager, Leonie. After talking with her, it became clear why the team operates so well. Leadership truly sets the tone, and it is obvious that the culture she creates carries through the entire staff. Usually with brunch we would do the bottomless mimosas and all but because I was driving I decided not to participate in that. And usually I would get chicken and waffles but I was in the mood for a burger. So I thought because their name is "Mad Cow" the burger would be the bomb...but nope it was not good at all. So I prefer a beef burger cooked medium with blue cheese, mayo, lettuce, tomato, and onions. When I burger got tot the table it was dry as a board. No blue cheese that I paid extra for and the burger was not cooked correctly it was cooked well done. Smdh. So the waiter brought me my blue cheese apologized about it and also gave me a mayo bottle. Even with the burger still was not good and the patty was so thick with no flavor not even salt and pepper was in it!! I tried their punch drink which was really good but for $15 a pop in a regular water glass was ridiculous. Make sure you don't get too tipsy as they already have like a 20% gratuity added on each of our checks no matter how small or big your group is which again is ridiculous! Will I come back...maybe only because I would like to try some Jamaican food they offer. But for brunch...it's a no for me!

Today, I gave them another shot because Uber Eats was offering a buy one, get one free deal on the jerk chicken meal. I chose rice & peas with plantain for my sides. The chicken was cooked on the grill--which I love--because it really brings out the flavor in jerk chicken. I also requested my jerk sauce on the side since I prefer a dry rub style over a saucy one. The only drawback was the small bone pieces in the chicken and rice. That's something to be cautious about, especially if a child is eating the meal. The plantains were also inconsistent--some pieces were hard, while others were mushy. On the bright side, the coco bread was perfect and the Jamaican rum cake was phenomenal. Whoever baked that cake clearly took their time soaking it in rum. It reminded me of the way my grandmother used to make it--absolutely delicious. I would definitely order the rum cake again.

Our first stop is the very busy Amish soft pretzel stand. My kids love the standard soft pretzel dipped in melted butter and topped with rock salt. My personal favorite are the stuffed soft pretzels like the pretzels stuffed with roast beef and cooper sharp cheddar. Nothing tastes better! There are also many other stands that offer fresh produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods. I particularly like Bieler's Donuts, the same place you'll find packed lines in Philadelphia right here.
