Mission BBQ never disappoints me. I always get the pulled pork with some fries. I love the variety of sauces you can use with your choice of meat and how could I possibly deny the hot, crispy cornbread? I fell in love with one of their seasonal side desserts... Banana puddin'. That's right. I highly suggest the puddin' but then again I don't (because you might get tempted to buy a few more and pack some pounds while you're at it). Meat lovers, rejoice. If you're on a quick mission for some good BBQ, look no further than Mission BBQ (haha). The beef brisket here is ahhhhhmazing. Tender, moist, and perfectly cooked. I've seen some complaints regarding the lack of "spices" or whatever, but that is what the sauces are for!!!! Why do people knock the quality of meat simply because it's not seasoned to fit their pallet? The pulled chicken and pork are just as good too according to my dates--I stick with the brisket--and the coleslaw is honestly one of the best I've ever had. No shortage of BBQ sauces here, find one that you like. My favorite is the honey heat: sweet & spicy. I wish they would sell it in a bottle because I would buy 5 at a time. Beware of the sweet tea and lemonade, they tend to be, uhhh, diabetic flavor. Really, really sweet... I have to dilute mine to enjoy it, but I don't have much of a sweet tooth so this might not even be a problem for most people. This place is wonderful. I have been to 3 of these restaurants in different towns so far and I like them all. This was no exception. It is in a center with several shops. Parking is limited in front of the store but there is parking all down the street. They have a space set aside for veterans which is wonderful. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. The staff was wonderful. The lady who took our order took her time and explained everything. When they brought the food out to our table the lady also spoke to us and found out that we were going to try the beans but weren't sure so she brought out a sampler. There are 6 different sauces on each table from sweet to spicy. You should be able to find one that you like. The tables were kept clean and the restaurant is bright with lots of neat military memorabilia. If you are a veteran sign up for their VIP club. If you are going to go to a restaurant, go to this one. The food is good, the people are friendly and they support the people that defend us. read more

Mission BBQ is a quality barbeque restaurant that serves very good food, yet has an ambiance that does not play well with all patrons. First, the food- they have a very good selection of barbeque, including traditional pulled-pork, beef brisket, pulled chicken, as well as unique platters like barbequed turkey (healthier & tastes good!) and sausage barbeque. All their barbeque meats are good- if you get the sampler that gives you a choice of two or three meat picks, it allows you to try several choices. The sides are great, too. The "cold" slaw is made in-house and tasty- not too much mayo like many places; the fresh cut fries are cooked properly and seasoned well (but not too much), the mac-n-cheese is delish., even though I'm not a fan of such a side; the baked beans & brisket are tasty and not just out of the can; cornbread is the real McCoy- it even has real bits of corn in it, a rarity these days. Drinks are very reasonably priced, and authentic: real brewed ice tea, in-house lemonade, and two buck beers (can't beat that!). Refills for many drinks are complimentary. The staff have generally been helpful and pleasant, with few exceptions. So why not the 5-stars? As seen by the restaurant name, this is a military-themed eatery: a huge hum-vee sits on the front lawn, armed forced paraphernalia and photos plastered all over the walls, even "girly recruitment posters" in the men's room (good for children?). You can't get away from it; very over-done. You even get injected with the fervor when you buy your drinks- cups bear a quotation from a recent president exhalting our need to defend and protect. It's almost unbearable. For those thinking I'm unpatriotic, this author is an honorably-discharged disabled U.S. Navy veteran- I fully support the men and women who serve AND served in the armed forces. I also, though, find it unsavory that this theme is over-pronounced in this establishment, to the point of quoting civilians on drink cups as part of the armed-forces composition of the restaurant. So, for good barbeque and sides, as well as reasonably priced drinks, and good service by the staff, Mission BBQ is the place to go, if you can get past the blatant and pointed messages everywhere you look. For those that this offends, you may want to go elsewhere. Advice to the proprietors: tone your "mission statement" down, and I think more of your patrons would be appreciative. read more

They carry a number of interesting sodas you can grab at the front. I'm not a huge soda fan but I like their black cherry soda - made with actual sugar. We went here on Veterans day and this past November for the first time.Before then I had never heard of Mission BBQ.The line was almost outside the door so I was guessing that meant that they had good food available.The restaurant is a mix between a sit down/carry out style one.We tried the brisket,pulled chicken and pulled pork sandwiches and I had the brisket sandwich which was very moist and good! Everyone said they enjoyed their sandwiches.The customer service was also good and the staff were friendly and worked with us.I will be back to try their other items on the menu! I've eaten at a couple different Mission BBQ's and this probably my least favorite. The food seems to have less flavor and it looks less appealing. I've had macaroni and cheese from a box that had more flavor. The brisket smelled as if the meat wasn't fresh. The smoked chicken was kind of dry. The service here is always exceptional. There aren't waiters or waitresses, but there are always a few employees walking around offering assistance with the menu, refills, anything really. I'm not crazy cheap or anything, but I sincerely appreciate not having to tip people for being friendly and helpful. We randomly walked in with a group offor an afternoon meal. This is a good place for a causal meal with family and friends. My friend had the chicken slider and found it to be ok. I tried the bay b back ribs with corn bread and mashed potatoes, which was very good. The atmosphere is nice with pictures of American soldiers. Our waitress was nice and attentive. Grew up in Laurel so I'm happy to see the renewal of what I grew up knowing to be Laurel Mall. Was excited to see a BBQ place in the neighborhood and even happier to see the social cause as well. The experience was a bit uneven. Excuse me if I'm a bit too critical but just giving my 2 cent. The person who took my dad's order struggled to get it right. Her mind was clearly somewhere else and it was annoying to both me and my dad. Immediately after my dad ordered the cashier couldn't recall what he just said. We did this dance three times. I was up next. I thought that given the lack of attention she showed to getting my dads order right she'd be more focused on getting my order right. The first time. No such luck. I repeated my order twice again before she got it right. In all honesty, I think Mission may want to consider less options on their menu. While there are only about 5 meats I think think each meat has at least two different styles to choose from. Perhaps streamlining the menu will help. The food came quickly. The woman who gave us our food did a great job of walking me through the order and talking about the sauces. I got the brisket, jalapeno cheddar sausage, fries and coleslaw. I got the brisket lean, and it was a bit too dry and way to salty for me but maybe I shouldn't have gotten it lean. I think it would of benefitted from the fat. The sausage I didn't love. The cheddar and jalapeno really didn't mix very well and the casing was pretty tough. Would of loved to have more tender meat but it just wasn't meant to be. The fries were nothing special either. Pretty sure that they're the same frozen fries you'd find at Applebees. The slaw didn't wow either but few do. Periodically I'd see staff walking around and they were super helpful. This helped to make the experience a bit more positive. Overall: The food wasn't great but the service, with the exception of the cashier who just couldn't focus, was really solid. I think the experience was ok. I don't think I'd recommend it. There's a BBQ restaurant that's been on Main Street for a while that offers much better BBQ. I thought the price point was a bit overpriced for the quality of food but I'm sure there's a certain cost that's built in do to the cause--which is fine if you wanna support our first responders, and why wouldn't you. read more

We're from the South so our BBQ expectations are on the higher side. Yet, these Georgians approve! It's not the best BBQ I've had, by far, but it's good and it's worth it. We will go back again! For specifics... Like that they have plenty of meat options! I don't do red meat or pork, do the turkey AND chicken options are greatly appreciated. We were afraid there wouldn't be much for me, yet not the case! Pulled chicken was excellent. Sandwich bum was wonderful, soft, yet more than your simple hamburger roll. Sides needed a tad more seasoning, but decent. The sauces have great options and can be mixed. Staff was wonderful! Very kind and helpful!! I found a small piece of plastic in my sandwich (no worries, it was prior to eating it! It appeared to be a piece of packing or wrapper.) yet they quickly replaced my plate, gave us a free desert, and two sandwich tickets on the house! Very nice! Recently my sister was in town & we wanted good BBQ, so we chose Mission BBQ. This was my first time going here & from the minute I walked in, I was very impressed! A restaurant all about celebrating America's heroes, military, firefighters, police officers & lots of memorabilia on the walls. Our grandfather, who was a U.S. Marine in the Korean War, had just passed away & it was nice seeing our soldiers & vets being honored. Once you check out the menu, you order right at the register, lots of selections between platters & sandwiches, there are Meat Market selections (brisket, pulled pork, turkey, pulled chicken & sausage), Smokehouse Signatures (chicken, salmon, Bay-B-Back & Spare Ribs and a Black Plate Special), Sandwiches, Salads, nice choice of sides too, Maggie's Mac & Cheese (delicious), baked beans, green beans, cole slaw & fresh cut fries, with seasonal sides & sweeets. You can add one side or 2 and a drink. I ordered the Lean Brisket sandwich with the baked beans, my sister got the Bay-B-Back Ribs & my daughter got the shredded chicken. Took less than 5 minutes to get our food, we came in on a Tuesday evening around 6:30 & there were only 3 other tables being used, however it can & does get crowded! Great service. There are no waiters but employees do come to your table to check on you & place any more orders you might need. They have several different sauces depending on your preference, Memphis Belle, Smoky Mountain (my favorite), Texas Twang, KC Classic, Alabama White, Bay-B-Que (with Old Bay), Tupelo Honey Heat, Carolina Vinegar, Georgia Mustard & Craftsman Special. I have to say, the brisket was AH-MAZING! I chose the lean, you can get it "moist" as well, and it was literally melt in your mouth delicious. I'm hooked. Highly recommend that! The baked beans also have brisket in them with a sweet sauce, very good. The ribs, fall off the bone tender. My daughter loved the shredded chicken sandwich, very moist & tender. And the brioche buns? Yum! With the platters, you can choose from slider rolls, brioche buns, cornbread & slider/cornbread combo. I loved that for $3.99 you can buy an "American Heroes" plastic cup & that $2 goes to good charities that support the work of non-profit organizations in our community & our country. The lemonade & sweet tea are wonderful. They have fountain drinks, bottled soda, etc. I purchased another brisket sandwich to take home with baked beans & a peach cobbler (REALLY good, their dessert choices change so if you're there when they have peach cobbler, try it)! The prices are very reasonable, great family atmosphere & the BEST BBQ in this area. High chairs are kept behind the counter. Since then, we've been proud patrons; we just don't eat here as much because of weight loss goals. :( Our usuals were some combo of the two-meat sampler. I love the brisket (lean) and classic sausage. I've tried most of the sides and can say the mac & cheese, fries, baked beans, green beans, cornbread and seasonal cheesy potatoes and they're all fresh, made in-house and very tasty. I've walked past this place a million times, but for some reason I've always thought to go to Famous Dave's when I craved BBQ. After a fun night of trick or treating at the Town Center, we decided to stop in and try out the food. My first impression was one of wonder. Super patriotic, lots of fun pics on the wall, and the ordering process was quick and easy. I tried the three meat platter, and ordered the turkey, sausage with jalepeno and cheddar, and the brisket with baked beans and cornbread. The turkey was moist and juicy, as was the brisket. The wonderful smoked flavor on the brisket went well with the sauces- you get a choice of 6, and the Old Bay flavored sauce and KC sauce were my favs. My children got the macaroni and cheese which was creamy and cheesy, and my daughter tried the ribs. Fall off the BONE delish. I'll definitely be going back. The prices aren't bad, the portions are pretty plentiful, and the taste gives Dave's a run for it's money. read more

I would like to mention the care and compassion extended to me today by the restaurant (manager?) this evening - I think his name was Will. After discovering that I had a family member in the hospital, he personally walked over to my table and talked to me and offered his good wishes and prayers. Who does that anymore in this day and age? But this is not all, when I got up to leave, he sent an employee over with some coupons for free food which, in my book was going "above and beyond" all expectations! I had never been to one till they opened this Laurel, MD location. First it's very clean and the they are prompt in their service. The food taste great and the prices are affordable. I was paid the most attention despite the number of people waiting in line. The waitress/cashier was patient and very profession deadline her looking very young.
