Wings of Fire!!!
Scott E.

Anticipating a chewing out at home following the police breakup of a scrum he initiated to defend a smaller boy from being bullied by three older males, Dick Grayson prepped for one of Bruce Wayne's caustic lectures in the opening pages of Tom Taylor and Bruno Redondo's Eisner Award-winning graphic novel, "Leaping into the Light." Dick soon discovers that it's Alfred and not Bruce asking him what happened. "There was a kid. They were hurting him. I'm sorry, Alfred." "You're," Alfred paused. "Master Bruce may feel you should only be a hero when wearing a costume. But I'm glad Dick Grayson steps up when someone is in need. It takes a different hero to help without a mask." But what if the setting were Greenbelt, Maryland rather than Gotham City, and neither the teenage Barbara Gordon (Commissioner Gordon's daughter) nor the teenage Dick Grayson was around to help? Perhaps the best way to prevent such bullying would be to choose a culinary locale whose appeal cuts across class, gender, and race...a location that often has infectious K-Pop music videos in the background, a place whose specialties include Korean wings, fried rice, and even hibachi. The Bb.q Chicken tucked in the same Greenway Shopping Center as Safeway and Starbucks is just such a place. Both times I have been sent to pick up lunch I have encountered groups of five or six teenagers, split almost evenly between girls and boys, enjoying each other's company and salivating for their turn to place their own orders for golden original Korean Fried Chicken, Honey Garlic Wings, or even Wings of Fire (which my wife attests taste great even if "fire" for her is always a misnomer).

Not up to the actual BBQ Korean Fried Chicken standard. This location does not represent the true taste of this beloved chain and overall of KFC. Please go somewhere else if it is your first time. Only perk is the food took 15 minutes to be ready for pick up but that is where everything else went wrong. The chicken was very dry, not sauced well at all. Also, not made fresh to order as supposed to (usually takes minimum 30 minutes to make the real BBQ chicken). The pieces were 50% smaller than any other real location like in Catonsville or Ellicott City. Please, go next.

Closed bathroom

I used to live in greenbelt and while visiting the area I noticed bbq chicken franchise in the shopping center. When entered I noticed fast food style counter where you order the food and pick up instead of being served. Bathroom was closed so I went over to Starbucks to get some lemonade and wash hand prior to eating. Their bathroom had number lock on it. I'm assuming it's due to customer abusing public bathrooms and I can probably guess that bbq chicken bathroom is permanently out of work order to avoid unnecessary issues. If their bathroom is out of order they should atleast have hand sanitizer station or wet tissues to give out either way purchase, but none existed. I ordered chicken wings with fried rice and bbq signature rice bowl. Fried chicken and rice was enclosed in same box so wetness from soggy fried rice transferred over to chicken making it not crispy since rice was all over the fried chicken. Fork they use is cheapest of quality where you could not scoop rice properly without fork bending in half. Extra bowls would not be given out, rather paper thin plate was given. There are places you can cut corners to maximize profit but it should not jeopardize product or experience your selling. As others mentioned food is below par compared to other bbq chains and honestly I would not take my non Korean friend here for their first Korean chicken experience

My ambitious teenager decided to try a new Korean chicken spot...w/o ME!! After I got over my feelings about that, I decided to give them a shot via her recommendation!! So let's see what they're hittin on... . Where I am: @bbqchickenus . Location Reviewed: 7557 Greenbelt Rd., Greenbelt M.D. . Menu Includes: Flavored Korean Fried Chicken Wings, Boneless Wings, & Sandwiches. Fries, Cheese Sticks, Onion Rings, Rice, Traditional Korean Food, & Beverages. . Items Reviewed: Their Spicy Chicken Sandwich Combo (with fries, secret sauce, coleslaw, & a canned beverage $10.99). PASS. Crispy, & spicy hot, but the chicken was a low grade cut. The Fries...DECENT, but dipped in the Secret Sauce...LIKE THAT!! Their Honey Garlic Wings (6 fried bone in wings drizzled with honey garlic $9.99). LIKE THAT!! Crispy, sweet, & garlicky, finger licking!! Their Maple Crunch Boneless Wings (6 fried nuggets doused with a sweet maple sauce $8.99). DECENT. A slightly better cut of chicken, with a breakfast maple sauce. Their Galbi Wings (6 fried bone in wings with a sweet smoky sauce, onions, & sesame seeds $9.99). LIKE THAT!! Tasted as described, crispy wings & a savory spicy sauce!! Their Soy Garlic Wings (6 fried nuggets with a savory garlic sauce). LIKE THAT!! Again, crisp, with a better cut of chicken, & tasty. Their Half n Half ($2.45). LIKE THAT!! Refreshing!! . Customer Service: Decent. The cashier was a tad impatient, & got my order wrong a couple of times. I dined in & the bathroom was unavailable, & I had to ask for napkins. . Online Navigation: N/A at this location. . Parking: Plentiful . Recommendations: The secret sauce & the bone in wings. 5 Stars=STAMP 4 1/2 Stars=LIKE THAT 4 Stars=DELICIOUS 3 Stars=DECENT 2 Stars=PASS 1 Star=NAH #Bigschlimsreviews

Tried bb.q chicken for the first time. Overall it was solid. I tried the spicy galbi chicken and spicy pork dumplings. Flavor was good but in my opinion could have used a little more spice to it. The spicy pork dumplings weren't spicy as well. Overall will be back because the menu has a lot more to offer

"Boneless chicken"

NEVERRRRRRRRRRRR COME HERE !!!! This was the worst $30 i ever spent & i want my money back. Huge disappointment. I rather take the HOUR drive to go to BBQ Chicken in VA. Not only did we have to wait for more than 45 mins for my food that i had ordered an HOUR IN ADVANCE, MY FOOD WAS FUCKING COLD WHEN I RECEIVED IT! We kept asking the girl "is my food done" and her response was as attitude ridden to us as it was to others. Saying no, it's still being made. Get those mfs out there and get someone who can run an establishment better please. They ran out of fries, gave us only the option of nasty ass rice & fried rice, asked for a refund & it was a nope. They said it couldn't be done. I WILL NEVER COME BACK AND WILL TELL ANYBODY WHO WALKS THAT WAY DUE TO THEIR CONSTANT DISAPPOINTMENTS. This is a sad excuse for a place.

It replaced Samurai Hibachi!
Andrew P.

Okay, so I've seen that bb.q chicken replaced Samurai Hibachi & Wings for about a month now, but I kinda assumed it was just that and didn't pay it any mind until I decided to go online and see if it had a Yelp entry / was any good, etc. And that's when I had the shocking revelation: IT'S A KOREAN FRIED CHICKEN SPOT! When I learned this, I immediately got super excited. But at the same time, I was like... okay, this is PG, and I've never heard of this place... is it actually gonna be any good? I looked over their menu, and I was intrigued to see so many different flavors of fried chicken. I was like okay... what is this? There's even a "Cheesling" flavor, and I'm like huh?! I also peeped that they have a lunch special featuring their chicken, so I told myself I would wait until then to get it, since I live 2 minutes away. As I continued to explore their menu, I saw... TOPOKKI!!! It has been a long time since I've had it... literally since mid-2019. So I decided I'd get that. Btw, I was looking at the menu on my phone, so once I decided this I went inside. The inside was spacious and empty... it was a half hour before closing after all. To the left, there's a whole wall dedicated to how these wings are made. "This... bb.q chicken isn't a one-off location, is it?" I said to myself. It was so specific and sophisticated. I did notice that the wings are only fried once... isn't standard KFC fried twice? I shrugged it off... anyway, So I ordered the Topokki, $11 for a bowl's worth. It took about 10 minutes to prepare, and then I took it home... YO WHAT. My mouth was on fire and the taste of nostalgia dominated above all. That familiar chewiness of the rice cakes and the not-so-pungent fish cakes in a super spicy red sauce / soup... it was great. For anyone who hasn't had it, get it if you like heat. I was very satisfied. Fast forward to today, I had a HIIT class during lunch time and needed a workout mat. I got one from someone with a spare, and on the way over, I was asked what I wanted for lunch... and I was like okay this is the perfect opportunity! So I said "I want to try the chicken, and they have a lunch combo... surprise me with the flavor!" The lunch combo comes with 6 wings and a side at $10... first off, let me say that I love the box they come in. When I opened it, there were definitely more sweet potato fries than anything. I was like... are there really 6 wings under there? In fact, there were... now let's break it down: Sweet potato fries: just that, nothing extra. Perhaps a little salt was added, but hardly any... some seasoning would've been nice. Wings: the flavor I was surprised with was Galbi, which is sweet & savory indeed... and it has an ever so slight kick to it, but I like the flavor!! The crisp was there too, which was pleasing. Not the crispiest I've had, but still crispy. I do think the wings were smaller than what I'm used to and typically like. Does that mean they're natural? Maybe... anyways, I loved the amount of sauce on top, and the sesame seeds and scallions! All in all, I must say that this spot exceeded my expectations and I'm looking forward to trying the other flavors in time. 4 stars because I think the wings are small and that I didn't get full off of the lunch portion. And I peeped the sides being like $5 and up... seemed a tad pricey, but hey. This is convenient and I hope every time is as good, if not better, than my first impressions. 'Til next time!

Could nearly cry at how bad and different these were from the AMAZING orders I had previously.

Now, usually I'd get a Peruvian staple, assuming that's what they're known for. But I had a taste for some other random things. I decided to get their lamb gyro and 24 karat wings. It was around lunch time so it wasn't empty in there, but it wasn't crowded. It was obvious some of the folks were regulars... everyone was nice. My order was taken and I got it within 10 minutes or so. When I got home the first thing I had was the gyro, which wasn't bad! The lamb was flavored a bit differently than I'm used to, but the texture and everything else was good. With the name, I was expecting the wings to be... golden, and they weren't at all. The flavor was good, but I was definitely expecting a different aesthetic. Wings are made well. I'd go back to try the Peruvian staples, hope they are good!

Also, the spot is very reliable, as it's open until midnight and roughly 16 hours of the day, serving many different options, from fast food to comfort food. I ordered the combo over rice ($13), the Philly cheesesteak combo with French fries and lemonade ($15.49), five wings with one waffle ($13.49), and a carrot cake slice ($4). - The fried chicken wings were alright for your typical fast food chicken. - Waffle was decent: it was soft & fluffy. - The combo over rice was solid, and I liked the chicken the most. - Philly cheesesteak was okay and would've been even better if it had provolone instead of the cheese whiz. - French fries were solid: they were crispy with some seasoning on them. - The house-made lemonade was alright, and I would be open to getting it again. - The carrot cake isn't anything crazy, it's alright, but I do appreciate the $4 price tag cause others would charge double or more for a slice. Overall, the spot does a good job with fair pricing, fast comfort food, and reliable hours. I'd come back and recommend.
