I ordered the smash burger combo (only $4.99 to upgrade--great deal), which came with fries and a drink. The burger was stacked with onion, American cheese, pickles, and their signature crimson sauce on a soft brioche bun. Everything worked together--juicy, flavorful, and not overly greasy. I also tried the Quarter Coward (an off-menu item priced at $5.49), got it mild with honey sauce. The chicken was cooked perfectly--tender inside with a nice crisp on the outside. The honey added just enough sweetness to balance the mild heat without overpowering it. Definitely a hidden gem on the menu. Atmosphere: The space is bright, clean, and inviting. I especially liked the open kitchen concept--it gives transparency and lets you see everything being made fresh. Plenty of tables available if you're dining in. Customer Service: You're greeted when you walk in, which I always appreciate. Ordering is primarily done through kiosks, so interaction is minimal unless you need assistance--but the setup is smooth and efficient. Wait Time: Everything is cooked to order, which I don't mind. It was ok. Hormones free chicken always my first choice! And it says fresh not frozen which is veeeery good! 4 levels for spice I took medium which was hot but I like hot anyway. Compared to other local chicken fast casual restaurants such as Hangry Joe's or Raising Canes, this had the longest wait time. Unfortunately it wasn't worth the wait. It was just average to us. The mild was spicy to me and the medium heat was spicier than medium heat at other restaurants. I even commented to my hubby that his nose was running and so was mine. Lol. The fries were not good. I would prefer fries at McDs, KFC , or Wendy's. When I got home, I had discomfort likely from the spiciness. All this to say I am unlikely to return. I tried the "joey style" onion, which is like an exploded bloomin onion. It looked cool on the menu, but didn't end up being a good eating experience. Lots of hard crunchy bits I had to eat around. I've been here twice now and both times the food was great. Perfect heat and well seasoned fries and not salty. The chicken is not dry and the portions are pretty big. Only complaint is that the food is made to order to it takes a while which isn't really a bad thing but something to be aware of. Don't come during the rush. read more

Came here on a Wednesday night and it wasn't too busy. There is limited seating so you may have to wait or take it to go. Crimson sandwich: I got this with mild spice level and there was still a kick to it. The sandwich was greasy and a bit messy but overall good. The shape of the chicken sandwich was kind of weird - you can see from my pic below but it was juicy and had a nice crunch to it. Homestyle: the bread over powered this sandwich. My husband and I did a head-to-head comparison with Dave's Hot Chicken. We both preferred Dave's Hot Chicken for it's flavorful chicken in the sandwich slider. However, the crust on crimson's chicken WAS better and crispier. The chicken patty was thinner than Dave's and not as much seasoning. The sauces that came with each place tasted similar. The fries are good and crispy, but not as seasoned. And for the price, we got more at Dave's. We also ordered medium spice, but our bag was labeled mild and it didn't seem spicy at all. read more

I saw advertisement of the restaurant on Facebook and since it's new to the Columbia area, I decided to give it a try. It reminds me of Raising Canes. I ordered a chicken sandwich with Mac and cheese. The sandwich was flavorful with the bun and sauce that comes on it. The mac and cheese was good. Good spot for lunch. Was driving by and saw they that just recently opened this location. There was a little bit of a line so they seem to be popular. You can order at a kiosk or order with an actual cashier. There have mostly Nashville Hot chicken dishes on the menu but they also have burgers. I had a half coward. It 6 wings in the flavor of your choosing. I can only handle up to the medium but you can order the super hot ones. Also had an order of the Joey eat fries. It's their version of loaded fries that come with chopped up chicken tenders and cheese on top of their seasoned fries. Everything was good. They are on the expensive side as my order came up to 29 dollars but I did get a drink as well. Not bad to get from time to time but my wallet won't let me eat it every day. read more

I visited this place when they opened up the first week and so the weak performance/rating is reflected on this. The food smelled and tasted pretty good but it was cooked terribly. I came here upon seeing local food group on Facebook. I want to start by saying this place is new so there's quite a bit of leniency in my review. The staffs are super busy but not organized. I ordered the chicken combo with drink at the kiosk but no body mentioned you ask for the cup there. The chicken is a little overcooked and sort of thin. The fries are very fresh but under seasoned. I would say the best part about the sandwich is the bread and slaw. It's pretty casual. I would comeback to try one more time and hopefully it'll be better then. It's good! I would probably want to go back again but my first impressions were pretty good. We originally went in the first week or so of their opening. We got takeout and it was just absolutely slammed. Once I did receive our food, however, we really enjoyed it. I think I liked the overall crisp and flavor of the hot chicken slightly more than Hangry Joe's, at least as far as I remember it, but I think the fries aren't as good as Hangry Joe's waffle fries, unfortunately. My only complaint is the pricing; it's too expensive. I find it to be the most expensive chicken restaurant, which prevents me from eating it more often but, IMHO, it beats Dave's, Bonchon, Royal Farms, even Popeye's. I wanted to try the chicken and waffles, but got the Crimson Onion Joey Style instead while hubby ordered the Joey-Eat-Fries. The chopped chicken was fresh and so good. My food consisted of a bed of fried blooming onions topped with fried chopped chicken, pickles, coleslaw, and their signature sauce. The Joey-Eat-Fries is basically the same thing except they used fries instead of the fried onions, plus cheese. Everything is made fresh so there is a 10-15 min wait - so worth the wait. read more

Our first visit. The place was not clean. The self-ordering kiosk was dirty with smudges and particles of food. All free tables had, at the least, sauce smears and crumbs, but some also had paper trash. The drink area had liquidy cup rings wetting the counter and other bits of scraps. Service was minimum. There were 4 workers (none of whom ventured out from behind the counter to clean the tables) and except for calling out our name when the food was prepared, there was no attempt to interact with patrons. (The ordering kiosk does, of course, prompt you to tip these workers before you get to experience the service.) The food was mixed. The only fail was the mac & cheese. Pretty basic and drenched in a thin sauce. Half the container was still filled with liquid soup after the noodles were gone. A grilled cheese tasted pretty good even if the smashed thin sandwich looked little like the fluffy picture on their menu. The seasoned fries are quite good, but our favorite was the creamy potato salad. It does seem like the same spice is put on all their food, but it does taste good. I hope this location can find a manager that can keep this place clean and energized. read more

First, it's Halal. 2nd, they batter the chicken in the restaurant just before cooking it. I tried the Joey Onion. It was delicious. I watched the cook batter and fry the onion. It was messy but great and a nice option instead of fries. The pickles really do it with the slaw. By itself, the slaw was too spicy; but together, it was delicious, especially with the sauce. There is a 15-20 minute wait, well worth it. I had the mild, which was really a mild spice. Really nice staff. Nice atmosphere. I was really hoping to be impressed, but they lowkey let me down in the beginning. I called to place a large order in advance, then while on the way to the restaurant, they called back to inform me they "cannot place orders over $50 over the phone". So then I had to order in the restaurant, repeat the order entirely, and wait extra long. The staff is really sweet but the manager not so much. I understand they want to avoid no shows on large orders and not waste any food, but it made me late to my meeting. Besides that, the food was pretty good and they have lots of menu items from which to select. They have 5 different levels of spiciness which is cool too. I'll definitely give this place another try in the future as it has lots of potential.
