Single table for the fallen soldier
Cheryl A.

I'm always up for trying new bbq places and this place did not disappoint! This military themed restaurant not only represents but honors our veterans past and present as well as our first responders. They even have a single table for the fallen soldier. What a great place to honor those who have served and those who continue to serve. The bbq brisket was so tender and delicious! We had 6 different bbq sauces to choose from as well. The potato salad was yummy too! The day that we came was a day that honored the Air Force so my friend received a free sandwich. The customer service was truly outstanding and we can't wait to go back!

Moist brisket sandwich with sides of baked beans and brisket, potato salad & peach cobbler

Excellent Brisket sandwich!! I was a little skeptical before I went due to it is a chain and most live off their name but this is really good BBQ and definitely looking to sample MORE of their offerings. We had the "most" brisket and was moist but not fatty. Lemonade was perfect and the baked Beans with Brisket is another option to try. The potato salad was ok and the peach cobbler was a little runny but good. Looking forward to try the Cole slaw next trip because I will definitely be going back!!! Oh forgot to mention the 6 different types of bbq sauce.......great options!

Excellent bbq food , comfortable sitting area and top notch service. Very friendly and not rushed the first timer. We ordered grilled shrimps and salad.,pulled chicken and son ribs. Everything was super good. They gave us brisket to try and it was excellent. We will come back. Wonderful first meal in Denver

Melt in your mouth meat falling off the bone wings and ribs, collards, cornbread and coleslaw.

What can I say about the perfect place for mouthwatering BBQ! I have tears in my eyes because I am so thankful for the amazing food and service. The rib meat literally falls of the bone. Tender enough for this Veteran with dentures to enjoy. The smokey, salty goodness really doesn't even need sauce. If you do like sauces though you are in for a real treat. My favorites are the Memphis belle mixed with Smoky Mountain. There are plenty to choose from all the way from really hot and spicy to the mild smokey sweetness. The staff like Roxy, and Vanessa really care that your dining experience is the best it can be. They also have a black plate special that tantalize those taste buds. During the summer it was grilled smoked shrimp now they switched to some of the best smoked wings so tender and falling off the bone as well. They have all kinds of sides that send your taste buds off on another adventure... My favorite is the tender cooked just right collard greens that bring me back to the good ole southern cooking from the south! I like to mix them with the sweet complimentary corn bread. I recommend spending the money in their refillable cups because when you purchase the cup it helps groups like the first responders and disabled veterans. Everyone that works there always has a smile on their face and happy to ensure your dining experience is the best you ever had. For dessert don't forget the salted caramel pudding one bite will lift your spirit so high your feet won't touch the ground as you leave. Bottom line this place not only feeds your body, Mission BBQ feeds your soul! Enjoy!

Alright, we tried their BBQ again, this time as a to-go order early on a Wednesday evening. It was so good. Way better and more moist meat than our first time here! The pulled chicken was particularly delicious. Even the green beans seemed to have a more appropriate onion level this time. Hooray!

Half pound cheeseburger with side of Mac and cheese

We went there on a Sunday afternoon. It is a very interesting place. First, the people were very friendly and helpful in explaining all the dishes. There was a steady pulse of activity as the restaurant took our orders at the counter. We also ordered drinks and sat down at a table of our own choosing. I noticed it was a booth with wood seats. There were also tables with wood chairs spread throughout. The theme of the place was patriotic and a bit old fashioned. It seemed busy and people were enjoying the food. I took a few photos and when our order was ready we sent someone to pick it up for us. The booth had 6 different bbq sauces so something for everyone. My spouse ordered a pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on top which was huge and quite tasty. I ordered a half pound cheeseburger and a side of Mac and cheese. One daughter ordered the bbq shrimp and another the turkey sandwich. All the food looked good and was tasty. My hamburger was thick though not as juicy as I had hoped. The shrimp was excellent. The turkey was good enough for my daughter. All in all a pleasant experience. Pricing was reasonable but it did come up to around $70 for the four meals since we added some drinks and sides. This place is worth considering if you are hungry for bbq as it has a variety from brisket to ribs to pork and chicken along with shrimp. Plenty for everyone!

Mission BBQ for the month of May is offering this to our wonderful Armed Forces. Daily military discount throughout the year.

As I was driving down, the owner called me and let me know they ran out of corn fritters, and only had one order of burnt ends. I went with another order of brisket and changed to corn bread as my other side. I appreciated the call, he was on top of things! I picked up my food and ate it in my car. The beans were thick and full of meat pieces which I love. The corn bread was more like a corn cake. Super buttery and chewy, it was delicious...maybe the best corn bread I have ever had! On to the meats...........Burnt Ends- Meh...they were just ok. 2 pieces of the 6 were straight up fat, with no meat on them. A tad disappointed in that! The brisket was a little dry, but still tasty enough. Their regular bbq sauce is really good, and I dipped my brisket in that. Solid 3 meat plate minus the 2 shitty burnt ends pieces. Service was great! Cool guys running the spot. Would definitely come back if I lived in the area.

The cheese sauce is delish. 4 for the baked beans as they were a tad too soft and needed more bbq sauce, or molasses or something. 4 for the greens. They taste healthy, you can't taste the smoked meat, but there wasn't any savory type flavor. Service was fast! Parking is easy. Tons of seating, restrooms, gorgeous area to sit near the river and with views of the mountain and Coors! Such a cute town and all their food is delish!!!

There are only a handful of businesses in Kittredge, a humble unincorporated town outside of Evergreen and Morrison (closer to the former). And shockingly, most of the businesses are great! This is another creekside restaurant and what's not to love about that? I've never actually dined in, only gotten takeout a few times. Doesn't change the fact that they are doing something right in the kitchen! At Switchback, they have the MEATS. As all good BBQ places should. My last meal consisted of their brisket, sausage, and mac and cheese. I really enjoyed everything I had. The sausage may have been my favorite, it was extremely juicy. Brisket is the best BBQ meat and theirs (even takeout) was tender and tasty. Like many BBQ places, the hours and quantities are limited. And for being in a remote unincorporated town you can't fault them for that. Take a scenic drive out this way and score some yummy 'que!!!

We have only been to Wayne's two or three times since they rebuilt after the Marshall Fire, Dec…read more 30th, 2021. Wayne's house burned completely down and the kitchen and restaurant in the shopping center in Superior, just south of Boulder, were severely damaged. It took them well over a year to rebuild and reopen. We decided this past Labor Day Weekend, to supply our own meals with their BBQ, sides and dessert. Since reopening, they have maintained a very short week to be open because of many time and financial constraints. They still open at 11am and serve until about 2pm or until the majority of the prepared food is gone. They also work all of the hours from before dawn every day to smoke and cook all of the meats, sides and desserts, fresh each day. The schedule is just to be open Friday and Saturday, leaving them some quality of family life the rest of the week. In the very early years Wayne was there himself, doing almost all the smoking, cook prep, and lunch every day with a very small staff. That became unsustainable when the place built such a huge following and he hired a lot of staff that needed training. He had learned these recipes and techniques growing up near Austin TX, so this is classic Texas BBQ. In fact, the original form of the famous peach cobbler dessert was his own mother's recipe. It has been altered a little over the years to make serving in such volume better and this very latest version is the best yet. Every serving is the same balance of batter, peaches and cinnamon topping. It is generous and has wonderful flavor and texture and is served warm. At home we usually reheat it if we don't finish it all the first day. But it is still good cold, too. If we drive so far and wait in line to get in, we always buy enough for a few meals. It's absolutely worth it. The higher price than the mass producers is worth very penny. It's really homemade with quality ingredients. In the past, I almost always got the brisket, always chose the lean end (yes you get a choice and the side is still warm from the cooker/smoker in front of you). All of the meats are purchased by weight as you would in a butcher shop. My husband almost always has the ribs. We were the first in on Saturday, as we arrived 30 minutes before opening and the line formed behind us with quite a group ready for the doors to open. Since we had first pick and when we saw the first rack of ribs opened, we just bought the whole thing. We also bought a selections of sides and as I had not been here in so long, I bought way too much. We did not need the mashed potatoes so we only ate about 1/3 of it. But we ate absolutely everything else, the BBQ beans, the cole slaw, the green chile mac and cheese, the peach cobbler. We always get the original BBQ sauce that they make but there is also a house spicy and a house mustard. They do charge for the sauces these days and if you plan to use a lot, buy the bigger tub. But the meat is so flavorful, just one or 2 of the tiny size would be enough. They started making these tiny containers for each customer during the pandemic when they had to give up the communal bottles on the table and this system seems nice and fresh to me. I don't mind paying and they buy and hand fill these serving size cups which I appreciate. I have heard some other people do not. But it's very inexpensive. We enjoyed every morsel of the meals. It's my favorite mac and cheese around, the ribs were still hot, tender, crispy, and with buying the whole rack, we got the entirety of both burnt ends, which I love too. It's really worth the effort to do this, but once a summer is probably our limit. I plan not to miss any more years, though. They do still have tables inside which are used heavily during a normal work week for the crowds they get from nearby businesses. But honestly, I think most of their customers are there to take home a full shopping bag to serve at home for family and friends, for no stress events without cooking yourself.
