I took the little woman to Cava tonight and the place was rockin'. Before we went in I looked to see how many people were on the line. I cooked for quite a while and owned a restaurant and my wife said the line would move quickly. There was a lone chef who wore a sock on his head, traditional, and a person at the register who also finished each dish. It didn't take long for us to get to order and the first thing I did was to tell the chef that he deserved a raise and he immediately said "we ALL deserve a raise" which showed me that he respected his co workers and that he had some class. This chef laid down the law and he put together dish after dish, flawlessly. He was poetry in motion plus he dealt with each customer well even the picky ones who "asked too many questions". I just wanted to commend this chef who wore a sock on his..He's a winner in my book! read more

We went to this place because we wanted a light kind of dinner. This was great! Imagine a mediterranean "Chipotle" . They have some plates on the menu, but you can basically make your own gyro or bowl with different kinds of ingredients. I went with a Greek salad with all the typical ingredients and dressing, but I added some steak for protein. My husband made his own bowl with romaine lettuce, rice, chicken, tzaziki, some hummus, cucumbers and kalamata olives. The guy taking our order was great. He gave us time to learn the options and decide, and gave us the information we needed when we weren't sure about something. The only down side was that nobody had wiped the tables, or clean floors recently and you could tell. Overall, this fulfilled our needs and left us satisfied. read more

I was stunned by how bad the food and overall experience was at this location. The Philly location is a stand-by of mine, but my dinner tonight was a disappointment. The greens were fresh, and the checkout person friendly and attentive. However, they did not follow the pick-up instructions (included plastic fork and bag when I purposely left those off), the two seating areas I tried were dirty/sticky, and the self-service area was full of torn up napkins (the dispenser was overfilled and stuck). The salmon did not taste fresh, and all the sauces were oversalted -- the harissa was so salty to be completely inedible. In addition, some of the black lentils were undercooked and unpleasantly crunchy. My tongue now has salt burn and I definitely wish I picked a different restaurant. read more

I loveee CAVA! It is like chipotle but for mediterranean food and they also have some menu items that are already laid out to order. The avocado harissa bowl is my go to, it comes with a complimentary pita. Service is quick and friendly while ordering at the counter. I would put CAVA in the upper echelon of fast casual chains when it comes to superior food quality and service. Since moving to the area a little less than a year ago, my wife and I have ordered takeout and delivery from CAVA numerous times and they always deliver. Consistency is key! Greek and Mediterranean inspired, they source high quality ingredients and support the finest purveyors. They use olive oil sourced from Greece, sprouted grain pitas, and preserved lemon paste from Middle Eastern pantry staple brand, New York Shuk. The founders have been friends since they were toddlers. I believe CAVA opened in 2010, just a year shy of their 15th birthday. Practically multiple lifetimes in the restaurant industry! The move at CAVA is to order a bowl. I say this as I naively say I haven't tried one of their pitas yet. Shame on me, Matt. But if order a bowl, it comes with a pita...so like, best of both worlds, right?! Steak + Harissa // Steak, Crazy Feta, red pepper hummus, tomato + onion, cucumber, feta, slaw, brown rice, greens, harissa vinaigrette. I'm a harissa eating fool, so I was excited to see it featured on some newer items. Taste wise, it was great! Overall a solid 4 stars with the harissa and red pepper hummus combo stealing the show. I wish the steak was cubed as small as it was and cooked a little less. I also really like the Chicken + Rice bowl, too. They make customizing bowls relatively painless if you're ordering through DoorDash or their website. I think their sauces and condiments are their bread and butter. Whether tzatziki, green goddess, etc. They're all packed with flavor. Healthy, satisfying, and filling. When compared to the competition, I have to give CAVA the upper hand. I love that they have so many different "greens" options. I'm obsessed with their Supergreens mix. Because they offer lots of different proteins and lots of different toppings, it's really easy to make your meal vegetarian without feeling like you're missing out. Forgot to mention, you can get a complimentary pita with your bowl. The staff have always been great in proactively offering the pita. They also offer unique, delicious drinks, from craft sodas, to teas and juices, a worthwhile addition to your meal. If I had one piece of advice to give: order in person. The customer service here was super great! We had never been to Cava before so we had no idea what to order. The guy working behind the counter was so friendly and gave us samples before we committed to certain sauces ect. It made the experience not so overwhelming because there is ALOT of options! My first time eating at CAVA - this one just opened in my neighborhood. Overall it's a great place to grab a quick Mediterranean meal. I ordered for pickup and my food was done very quickly, I was surprised the place didn't have a crowd since they just opened but I went for an earlier dinner. The market spice bowl with falafel was really good, I added Harissa for some spice. I tried a bite of the meatballs which weren't my favorite but all of the sauces are delicious.
