I thought it was a bit weird looking at their menu that there was also Thai food on there as well, but anyways. - Drunken Noodles - This was actually really surprisingly good, I liked this better than the pho. I appreciated the thick cut noodles that were full of flavor and the amount of beef (which was very tender) they had in here. I will say that the dish was quite spicy, especially the green peppers. - Pho (Beef) - Not bad for pho, but also not the best. The soup had a kind of grainy texture which was weird, but I appreciate that they already gave the two sauces to dip the noodles and the not so tender beef in it. I wish that they had used the beef from the drunken noodles into this dish to be honest. It's nice to have a pho option far north on the UWS. We had a wonderful experience at Miss Saigon, and I cannot wait to return. We were really surprised to find out that the restaurant has a prix fixe menu for $19.99. Even though we did not ask, the manager (or maybe the owner) let us know that he was flexible with including some menu items that were not on the prix fixe menu. Stopped for dinner in this plain Jane spot. The decor leaves a little to be desired, but the star here is the food. We started with the pan fried veggie dumplings, mad tasty. Miss Saigon took over for Uncle Louyang's which never seemed to recover from a bad gas connection pre-pandemic. Miss Saigon seemed to have figured out a fix and is doling out delicious food using the same seasoned grill. The food is great and I often find myself justifying that it isn't odd to order lunch from the same place more than 2-3 times per week. They offer pretty affordable lunch specials which include a soda or water. The regular entrees are enough for a hungry appetite or for sharing. The place is clean and smartly decorated; the service is friendly and quick. Miss Saigon is a sure bet and one of the better options in the area if you're looking to congregate. Their dumplings alone beat out any nearby competitors. I'd love to see how they fare once Saiguette is back in business but for now they rule this side of Amsterdam! read more

I've been here a number of times. The staff is always very pleasant. I have noticed that its mostly non-asian people who are dining here. The food isn't bad but its definitely not authentic. Pho broth should be clear and taste like spices, not just soup stock. Its satisfying enough when I'm craving pho but I'm still looking for the best pho spot. I do appreciate that it feels chill here. There was one small thing though--they didn't have soup spoons, which I thought was weird..and it was a little inconvenient for drinking the soup. But not a biggest deal. Not the pho place for me. I ordered delivery. It was fast, but the chicken in the chicken pho was questionable. Not the texture or the appearance that I'm use too. The broth was just salty and didn't smell great. I got no jalapeños and barely any herbs. I got no lettuce with my spring rolls and the dipping sauce was not the typical dip sauce in appearance or taste. Mostly all of this $40 meal went into the trash. UGH. read more

A no-frills neighborhood gem! Only took one photo as I just dug right in. Had the beef pho which was nothing remarkable, but sometimes that is just what pho bo needs to be - simple, beefy, hearty, fragrant. Perfectly cooked rice noodles. Wish they served it with lime instead of lemon though, but overall very satisfying! And affordable. My friend had the prix fixe (great deal at $19.95 by the way, includes app, entree and dessert) and the grilled pork chop was superb. Adequately sweet, very tender and flavorful. I used to trek to Queens to find a Vietnamese pork chop as good as this, happy to save that hour journey. The prix fixe spring roll was disappointing though (very doughy, not enough filling) but they might be serving a different kind of spring roll a la carte. Service is friendly. Place is spacious and haven't seen it crowded .. yet ? (As much as I want to keep this place a secret, I do want them to thrive!) In case you plan to wine with your meal, there aren't many beverage options. At Miss Saigon, they use the box divider to prop up the food so it looks like you get a lot but you don't. I was still semi hungry afterwards so I guess these lunch orders could be good for someone interested in portion control. When I order bun at other places, you typically get a spring roll, more fresh cut veggies, different kinds of meats, and more bean sprouts. In my opinion, I feel as though this place is amazing. I came at the right time and got this booth with my S/O that was raised and it was a little cut off from other sections so it feels like we were being served among the clouds. The food came out looking like it was professionally prepared, displayed in such an amazing fashion. It tasted well. The pork chop dish was phenomenal, but the spicy chicken was okay. Upon going to the bathroom I was shocked to see how clean and organized it was along with the texture/design of it. The overall cleanliness and appearance of the place was incredible. I didn't see a single seat/booth with a tear or stain on its fabric. The flooring job didn't have cracks or damage. The gentleman and the young lady serving us were exceptionally nice and guiding. When we arrived the ambiance was very ominous, I'd like to assume we came at a particular time where it was very empty and had the place to ourselves. The silence was nice and peaceful. Maybe my pho expectations are too high but it was deeply disappointing here. Broth was very gray and murky looking. The flavor was definitely lacking & even had a hint of sweetness to it. We got the vegetable spring rolls & they were small. Peanut sauce was dark so I'm assuming it was a peanut hoisin sauce combination? We had asked for chili oil and told us we had everything on the plate already. (Sriracha and Hoisin Sauce no chili oil.) No soup spoons were provided as well so we used normal spoons. Started with the Vietnamese spring rolls which is probably the ONLY reason you need to come try Miss Saigon! It comes with 4 for $8.95 and they are boooomb. Deep fried, chewy, filled with deliciousness. Got the pho bo (beef pho) - comes with oxtail soup, beef and tripe. I don't particularly love tripe so gave it all to my husband. The soup is okay - definitely lacking some flavor. It is served with a side of bean sprouts, lemon, 3 leaves of basil, and hoisin/sriracha sauce. The bean sprouts were very minimal, pho should be coming with lime (not lemon), and the basil was not strong enough. I got the dinner portion ($12.95) but it looked like the same exact size as the lunch specials, so would probably just go for the lunch size next time I'm there for lunch. My husband got the beef satay over rice lunch special. For $9.95, it was a pretty good deal. Came with tom yum soup as a starter, and the satay was decent. It was pieces of beef doused in a dark sauce that had hints of peanut. Wasn't that great, but would come back to try the other things on the menu. read more

My friend and I haven't had a good bowl of pho in a long time, so we came to Miss Saigon, which turned out to be a fantastic and surprisingly underrated/underhyped Vietnamese place on the Upper West Side. The service exceeded expectations - the host was extremely cordial and our food came out surprisingly quickly. We both ordered the beef pho, which is described on the menu as "beef tripe" - but it does actually have a lot of meat, and only some of it is tripe (which I didn't love...it was thicker than the thin tripe slices I'm used to in pho, but they were easy to pick up). The price and portion size are decent. There were other patrons scattered around on that Wednesday evening, but the interior atmosphere was still calm, great for my friend and I to talk for over an hour. Lately there's been an increase in Vietnamese restaurants in UWS and I'm always excited to try a new place. Growing up with parents that owned a restaurant in Vietnam, I have super high expectations for a good bowl of pho. Decided to try this place and unfortunately it missed the mark. Depth wasn't really in the broth and missing the aromatics you'd expect for pho. Noodles are more typical of Northern style vs the Southern style you see a lot around the city.
