    Banh mi Pork
    Sofia L.

sooo glad I finally tried this small vietnamese restaurant. I came right when they opened and inside there were only three tables for dine-in. they quickly took my order for to-go and I was out within 10 min. I got a pork banh mi ($9) and a viet iced coffee ($4). on the weekdays, they have a lunch special for $12 for a banh mi, drink, and fries, which is a crazy good deal! I got medium spicy and it was the right amount of spice for me. the veggies are soo crunchy and pair well with the bread and meat. pork is very seasoned, and smothered with sauce. usually I ask for without cucumbers at other places, but the ones in this sandwich are so good. will come back to try their other banh mi bc this one was big and priced fairly.

Little whole in the wall Pho spot located in the UES. Lots of restaurants nearby so a great location. Interior is a bit outdated and janky. About 3 small tables for seating and lots of cardboard boxes... we ordered both chicken and beef pho which were the perfect quantity however more on the bland side. Lots of fresh herbs and quality of noodles however very underwhelming. Quick service however. Average $15/bowl

Came here for a quick pitstop, not expecting much of the food. It is after all the upper east side. I also have concerns about a place that serves supposed to Vietnamese and thai in the same place. My friend and I got the banh mi and I was pleasantly surprised given that I had low expectations. The bread was pretty fluffy, the chicken was very tender and juicy. I don't think that it was super fragrant as far as these sandwiches typically go at more authentic places, but it was a good sandwich in general. Nothing to write home about, or go out of your way for, but if you're in the area, especially, if you live here, it might give you that Vietnamese food fix if you're kind of craving it. It also doesn't really break the bank sitting at around nine dollars.

Solid find on the upper Eastside for both time Vietnamese food. The exterior is rundown and the inside may feel like a "hole in the wall" but their food is absolutely delicious and well spiced. Their hours are awesome including closing at 11:30 PM on Sunday evenings. Located near a big park for a daytime stroll, it's a spot that doesn't shout loudly compared to other bigger and brighter store fronts in the area, but will certainly lure you back for its high quality of food. I ordered a papaya salad which came moderately spiced. It tasted different, in a good way, compared to other papaya salads without having too much flair. If I came back, I would sit inside and really live the experience of Leviet café on the upper east side.

    Vietnamese Spring Rolls

Affordable prices, great flavors, but unfortunate textures. Both the spring rolls and the crispy pork belly were tough to chew rather than crispy. This was a delivery order, so perhaps the longer delay before eating contributed. Even so, the flavors were wonderful and would make these dishes outstanding if the textures matched. Banh mi was great for the price (watch out as "extra spicy" definitely has some heat!), though as others have mentioned, the bread is more of a hero roll than the traditional baguette.

Small unassuming Vietnamese restaurant. Took advantage of their weekday lunch special which was a simple bowl of beef pho and two fried spring rolls. At $15, it is definitely affordable for NYC! The service was really kind as well.

Really glad that I tried this place before leaving the neighborhood!!! Had a lunch special and it did not disappoint. Not a big fan of the peanut sauce in the salad but the Pad see ew was fantastic. Spiciness right on point, veef added was tender and overall really yummy and good value for the price!!!

I got the beef pho ($14) because I was really craving pho and did not want to go to the Bronx to eat pho. After I ordered, I heard the waitress and the chef speak Thai and I was like crap. The pho wasn't bad, but definitely lackluster compared to an actual Viet restaurant. I spoke to the waitress after and she was super nice and sweet. She told me the chef is from Thailand so moving forward I will definitely order Thai dishes like curry, thai soups, and noodles/rice like pad thai, pad z ew, and pineapple fried rice as that seems to be their forte. Also, I would order to go as they seem way more equipped for to go operations. They seem to have a lot of regulars come by for take out.

Good service at this small restaurant- add their number to your speed dial! Fine line between medium and spicy so order accordingly!

It's a very small hole in the wall place with 3 tables to sit and eat. The food however was very good but the portions are small which we didn't mind. We ordered the fried chicken dumplings, clay pot fish ( which was not served in a clay pot), drunken noodle and spicy Thai basil fried rice. We had warm taro custard for desert. The server was friendly, courteous and very helpful!

Whenever I come here, the service is always very friendly. It's a little restaurant squeezed in between a liquor store and a Thai restaurant. The ambience is very relaxed and casual. Not a date place. The menu features a variety of both Vietnamese and Thai dishes. So if you're in the mood for Thai curry or pho, you're covered. I've been here multiple times. I've had the pork chop and rice, shrimp & pork on vermicelli, mock duck basil, and summer rolls. Everything I've had has been totally solid. I've eaten at a few other Vietnamese restaurants in this neighborhood, and I find this one is just as good at a fair price. Also it's BYOB.

I ordered veggie pho and summer rolls for delivery. I thought the pho was great. My experience was soured by the dead roach I found in my summer roll after biting into it. I won't be ordering from here again.

The food always arrives hot, is always well packaged and tasty. My personal go to is the SHAKING BEEF Bo Luc Lac Stir fried Angus steak cube) bun. It is served Served w. Side Salad & Nuoc Cham: (Romaine, Cucumber, Pickled Mustard, Grape Tomatoes, Carrots & Daikon). I appreciate the choice of Vermicelli rice noodle, Thai Jasmine rice or Solely Salad. I always choose rice and the packaging is amazing, the beef is kept seperate from the rice and arrives hot and aromatic. My mom also loves this dish but ordered it with the solely salad and opts for double veggies. We have also tried several of the bahn mini including the lemongrass chicken, the brisket and the braised short rib. All are tasty. I do recommend adding the dip for $1 as it really takes it to the next level! I ordered the lychee iced tea sweetened today. It was sweet but not too sweet which I appreciated and as with everything from 5ive spice very thoughtfully packaged in a way that there is no leaking in transit. 5ive spice has some great all day and happy hour specials, I look forward to trying their food in person when I am in the area. Customer service: One time, on a particularly busy weekend in NYC, I received the wrong bahn mi sandwich. I ordered the brisket bahn mi and received the lemongrass chicken. When I called 5ive Spice, I spoke to the manager John who was incredibly apologetic and explained it was a very busy night, without offering excuses. He offered a full refund and invited me to order again and call and he would include a complimentary bahn mi. For what it's worth, it was a very busy night in NYC, all of the restaurants we were trying to get take out or delivery from were quoting 2+ hours, and John handled the situation perfectly. The food we received was tasty and did arrive on time.

I ordered "Plain Pho", which is described as just broth and noodles, no garnish or meat. After waiting 30 minutes, for what is literally the simplest item on the menu, the bowl is brought out and it's a bowl of broth with a couple slices of chicken. No noodles. When I inquired, the server told me it's because I ordered the Plain Pho... yea and I said it comes with noodles and broth. They told me they could get me noodles, but acted like they were doing me a favor by fetching noodles for me, which was quite offputting because the noodles were quite literally half of the dish I actually ordered. How does one wait half-an-hour at a very casual fast Vietnamese food place, for premade soup and noodles, and still have the order wrong? In the end, I did get my noodles and broth, but the fact that I had to spend this much time and also justify my request for noodles (which are part of the dish) is quite insane. I put this at 2 stars for now, because I enjoyed my first time. Hopefully the service will improve.
