The service here is terrible. Food took forever to come out for 4 people. When I asked the waitress about our food, she asked us to move over to make room for another party, and IF we moved, then MAYBE the food will come out! My medium stake was dry and gamey, and my food was super salty. I've also seen one of the waiters take a smoke break right by the door (which blew all of the cigarette smoke inside), the came right back to serve food. Did you even wash your hands dude? Also the bill is not itemized which is super shady. Not sure how 4 entrees and a round of drinks added up to $175!!! Oh I know it's that 25% suggested gratitude everyone is talking about. They try to make it look like it's part of the bill, but don't fall for it! For crappy service and crappy tables and chairs, we did not pay the suggest tip. Had my bday dinner here and it was awesome! Good solid Brazilian food and terrific caipirinhas. Pitchers are the way to go for a Big Bang for your buck! Service was prompt and attentive. Best of all the music was fantastic!!! Great way to dance off all the calories! Only drawback is the place gets hot with all the hot dancing bodies and because of noise complaints they can't leave windows open. So dress light and get ready to samba your butts off!!!! read more

Just walked out after waiting for our food for an hour. Waiter stuck my girlfriend in a shitty table while I was in the bathroom and then claimed that the other tables were waiting for reservations. Hour later we had no food and the better tables were still empty. Avoid this place and instead support businesses that don't treat young people with disrespect and dishonesty. The food here is pretty decent but I will recommend going there during a week day so that you can hear each other. Specially Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, this place get very loud. Not my type of dining. However, if you are only looking to drink and dance, this might be a great spot to check out. They have decent amount of tables outside and a friendly staff. Came for brunch after being turned away at a nearby spot bc we had our dog. The waiter sat us near the edge of the enclosed sidewalk area so the dog was sitting just outside - very considerate. He also brought the pup water + excellent service start to finish. We had caprihanas and though small in size they packed a big punch and were delicious. We each got fritadas - the cod and the sausage - but neither of us enjoyed them. Overly salty and inedible, we ate about half even though we were hungry. Got the bill and they had added gratuity - totaled $88 YIKES! For 4 drinks and 2 egg dishes, it wasn't worth it. Also cash only. The live music was great, but the boisterous crowd and smoking in the dining area didn't make it the best atmosphere to enjoy a meal in. She came back every 5 min to harass us to order more drinks!!!! No big deal we all understand "upselling" when it was time to order desert she gave us outdated menus and forgot to mentioned few items were not on the menu anymore... No problem...I point out at this desert (with my index and spelled it out to her) 3 of my friends heard the whole thing...the runner comes back with the wrong desert, I explained that is not what I ordered blah blah blah...the waitress comes back "furious" to confront me and insist that I asked for what she brought to me, I looked at my friends and again I said I don't think so, she didn't care and left giving me the look like I was the one with the mistake! I was speechless/we started laughing thinking she should be taking "costumer service 101". The check comes, she writes on a $300 bill "suggested tip 20%" since we didn't think she was a good server at all (and knowing she tried) we gave her 15%. BIG MISTAKE!! She chased us and insisted that this is unfair and that the minimum we should give her was 20%!! My friend who felt insulted on how she approached us and very much discussed, told us not to worry and pulled out extra money to get her off our back (which brings her up to 25%) I was mad at my friend but he told me it wasn't about money...but now he knows to never come back here. Worst experience! I Never write reviews but this place deserves it. happened Last Saturday 11-14-2015. First of all they only accept cash, second it is expensive for the food they serve, third food is not like in Brazil and I'm Brazilian, and forth and most importantly: the services are horrible and one waiter in especial was the rudest person I've ever encountered in a restaurant/bar. They brought the check and it was wrong (they were charging more than we have consumed), my friend told the guy that the check was wrong and he replied saying that we were drunken girls and we didn't know how to calculate or count our own drinks and that we were stealing from the bar. He then started to curse on us in Portuguese!!!!!! it was a terrible experience. At the end the manager came and corrected the check. It was the first time I did not pay tips they don't deserve at all! Will never go back. Make sure you people know exactly what you are consuming in that place. like most places in brazil, they over charge and put stuff on your check, so you pay more. read more

This has been by far, the biggest embarrassment, as far as a representation of my Brazilian culture. I had a terrible experience the first time I went, and should never have gone back. I decided to give it another try this weekend. I asked for a table for two, after affirming we planned on eating. There was plenty of open tables. After a near fall because of a faulty chair, the server gave us the menus and immediately asked what we wanted. I asked for a moment to look, she gave me extreme attitude, and waited directly beside me for the order. We ordered two drinks, an appetizer, and an entree to share. She then proceeded to cause a scene ,over how both of us were obligated to order two entrees to sit at the table, and made us leave. I've worked in the food industry and this was beyond inappropriate and the worst restaurant experience by far. Shame on you miss favela. read more

Great apps. Especially the Frango a Passarinho!! Tiny pieces of chicken lightly fried! Atmosphere was nice seemed like a lot of regulars which is a good sign. Miss Favela lives up to its theme: it's almost like being in a bar in Lapa. Fun place with fun Latin/Brazilian music, perfect for dancing. No cover on a Saturday night. SO much better than Bembe around the corner, which was charging dudes $5-20 depending on how many women were with them, was so packed you couldn't move, and was playing boring music. Miss Favela was not too crowded and pretty fun. And that was with just a DJ, can't wait to return for the live music. read more

At some point he put a table next to ours and told six people (who were very drunk and rude) to seat on our spots. I would give this place 5 stars, but it is a bit of a hike to get here. That's my only complaint. I went here with friends for a few drinks. The place is very cool and the people there are welcoming. The interior us awesome. All lit up and makes you feel like your on vacation. I do recommend getting Yuca Fries with your drinks. They are fresh, hot and crispy. The best Yuca I had around. Great old spot from years ago. But lately when I went, I notice it's been a lot more rowdy. I'm a fan of the food, just not the sex going on around me. Great food. Very much like the meals we had in Bahia, Brazil with our Brazilian friends. So I consider Miss Favela pretty authentic. Maybe I'm old, but I wish some other things weren't as authentic, such as the sexual Brazilian energy. At times, it feels more like a club than a restaurant. There was alcohol all over the floor, people making out all over the place, and dirty dancing next to my table. Overall, I found it hilarious and entertaining, but very hard to enjoy a meal with the smell of sweat and liquor permeating the air. Anyway, the staff was nice and I can't say enough about the food. Just try to sit outside on a crowded night unless you want to get sex on your meal. read more

This place feels like it belongs in the neighborhood. The service is relaxed, yet attentive. The food is delicious and the whole vibe just screams laid-back. Interior is adorned with green and yellow paint. It really is reminiscent of a real botequim in one of Rio's favelas. This place is my favorite and I've been there once. read more

The place was much smaller than I thought based on the website. We booked a table in advance but even though we needed to wait for 45 minutes to be seated. A very small caipirinha costs $12! And I saw they pouring water on it... Having that said, the music was great and the food was amazing. After lunch time they remove the tables and it became a real party, which is awesome. My cousin introduced me to this place and we would often go on Sundays for brunch. It has been a while but from what I remember the food and drinks were very good (especially the spicy shots). It was usually a good crowd with a lot of dancing. The music was fun and vibrant which added to the Brazilian theme. The staff were very friendly. My only complaint is the location and how difficult it was to get there with public transportation. The closest subway was a 20 minute walk away so we would end up taking a cab across the Williamsburg Bridge mostly wasted to catch another subway ride North. Also, the prices were a bit much for the small portion of food. Other than that this place is a great time. read more

Love the ambience and imported beer selection - and everyone's entrees came out well. I had the chicken stroganoff, which was more like a curry sauce; my friends had the sirloin with collard greens and a fried egg dish. Good stuff! read more
