My group of 5 came here on a Saturday. This place was a party party with limited seating and dancing/standing room. So making a reservation is your best bet. Also the folks there was about the social life so people were dancing at the tables and all so be prepared for the festivities. There was a live band that was playing for their life. The staff was great and the bartender with handlebar mustache was good. He also makes an espresso shot which was tasty. What I got was just soso the pan fired steak with greens and fries. Other dishea at the table were delicious. The hearts of palm salad was tasty and the calamari had good crunch and flavor. I would want to come back for the meats platter to share. They had the doors and windows open with fans on so even though we stayed inside, there was still and outside feel only cooler. For drinks we had the caipirinha. The only downside is the that it is close to the train so very difficult to sit outside and have a conversation. I thoroughly enjoyed the Bobo de Camarao. We started off with the caiprinhia - a staple for this place. Drinks are delicious and have a nice kick - however cups are a little smaller so wasn't too fond. Went here with some friends this past weekend and had a very negative experience that left an awful taste in our mouths. Honestly we were all so shocked by how ridiculous this guy was being; even in NYC none of us had ever seen something like this. I couldn't understand what triggered this guy to act so rude and angry out of the blue, but looking at other reviews seems this is typical behavior for him. We were literally a group of doctors and had zero issue with ordering a few drinks, and even were planning to. But when you have someone approach with such rudeness and unnecessary aggression within 15 minutes of arriving, the last thing you're getting is our business. This place was a bit small inside but that's only because it got busy and it's for a good reason. The food tasted fantastic, the only complaint I have is that they only accept cash. It's not really good for large groups so keep your party under 4. They can't accommodate large groups when it's busy, but maybe on a slow night or during the day they can. Chef William and his partner stopped by our table and talked with us. We started with the calabrasa (appetizer), then we had the garlic shrimp (appetizer) and the picanha fatiada. It was 10/10. A group of us had gone and ordered 2 Caipirinha pitchers (at $52 each) and paid for one of them. We knew we were coming for the dancing and Caipirinha's but were expecting some brazilian music and dancing. Unfortunately, Miss Favela's is just a restaurant turned "club" at 11pm that throws on Spanish music (not Portuguese) which people dance to. The DJ - I don't know much about Spanish music, but I didn't recognize any of the music, nor did I particularly love it. The Dancing - Not salsa dancing, what a shame. The Caipirinhas - For the amount of sugar poured into this drink, you'd expect it to taste better and be less bitter. Unfortunately it was a poorly made $13 drink in an 8oz cup. We had a drink by the bar and then moved into the outdoor standing area from which we could still hear and see the live music. The band played for a good portion of the time and took a small break in between. While the band is playing drinks at the bar one dollar more there also is a fee for sharing plates of five dollars. This is the reason for lost of star because the food, ambiance and location are on point. I would rather they just wrap band fees into the price and give good deals on the weekends/happy hour. They simply don't know how to handle large parties. I came with a group of 12 people at 1:45pm on a Saturday afternoon. It took about 20 minutes for them to get around to taking our orders. Roughly around the same time, the live music started. The music was great but boy was it LOUD. We could barely hear each other speak. By 2pm, we were still waiting for our food. They served a few of us but it was unclear who ordered what. The waiters didn't keep track so they just set the food down randomly, which in itself, is not a big deal. After they served 75% of the table, a waiter told one of our friends that they ran out of what he ordered. This happens all the time, but it is not considerate to let the person know only after serving everyone else. He was baffled and asked if he could pick something else on the menu. After waiting 15 minutes for the waiter to come back to take his order, the waiter came back to say that the kitchen now had the original dish he ordered in stock. Needless to say, our friend never received his food. What a disaster. Other than that, the food was extremely mediocre. The food came at different times and it was quite salty. In the end, after a few rounds of pitchers and food, the bill came to ~$700. Quite disappointing and their service could use a lot of work. Dropped by here for a quick round of drinks yesterday, wanted to check the place and atmosphere out based on recommendation. There were at least 5 empty tables, not packed at all. We went to the bar, ordered two caipirinhas and clearly communicated that we are just doing a round and will be on our way in 10-15 minutes. The obnoxious host, who was coked out of his mind, got visibility upset once we sat at one of the empty tables. He was acting awkward and fidgety and he went in out of his way to hover around us like a child. All within the first five minutes of an entrance. We get our drinks, sit down at one of the empty tables and this clown legit grabs the first person that walked in and starts convincing him into getting the table we just sat down on. Not just any table, he has to get this table where we are sitting. It was so bizarre. The guy he convinced to take our table started to apologize to us while the host ran in the back as I tried to make eye contact with him. I was kind of taken back at first, but after realizing that the host was wearing a 'man bun' that was almost as tall as him, I felt rather sad for him and really hope he can lay off the drugs and find a proper barber. read more
