    Short rib Birria tacos

This place never disappoints. Updated interior with same classic charm. New menu rocks. We tried pork tostada, buffalo enchiladas, short rib Birria Tacos, and they had a dry rub rib special with 'Bama sauce. Ribs and Birria tacos were spot on.

My first time back today after new owners renovated this historic landmark in adorable Minturn. I have so many great memories dining here with my nanny family when we went skiing in Vail. What a wonderful renovation! They kept the warmth and charm and celebrity autographs with a much needed upgrade to the infrastructure and aesthetics. The food is better than I remembered, still Mexican themed but seems more polished. I had the smoked ribs which melted in my mouth and my partner had the birria tacos, both sublime. And the service is amazing as well. I had made a reservation a few weeks before on Open Table for 5pm but called this week to see if they could squeeze us in at 3 as our hotel check-in was 4 in Eagle. The hostess said the dining room was bought out but that I should come right at 3 when they opened and she'd make sure I got a seat. It was perfect. She and our server took care of us and we were able to dine before it got crazy busy with the apres ski crowd. Will be back!

This jawn was so busting 100% recommend. If it's flipping hamburgers at McDonald's, be the best hamburger flipper in the world. Whatever it is you do you have to master your craft. -Snoop Dawg

What a great bar! I love the ambiance. Very nice remodel. And the service was great. My favorite food we had (which was mostly appetizers) was the elote. It was smoked and very different than other kinds I have had before. 11/10 come visit!

Terrific ambiance, good service and an excellent menu. Grilled lime w chips & salsa is a very nice touch. My fish tacos were excellent & my husband loved his steak fajitas. Will be back.

Restaurant is nicely decorated with friendly staff. Parking is hard to find and the food seemed overpriced for Mexican food.

With the bar open at 3pm and dining room at 5pm, anybody know if the the full menu is available at the bar from 3-5pm? Or is it a smaller, "bar" menu?

Kirstan - Typically both the bar and full menu are ready to be ordered from very close to 3pm. Sometimes it takes a little longer but we strive for as close to 3pm as possible. Come on over and see us. - Andy Kaufman, owner

It was pretty quiet (still off-season), and my husband and I were the only ones there when we walked in around 10. We sat at the bar and had a lovely conversation with Jeremy; I ordered the Gingerbread Man (take on an old fashioned with brown butter washed bourbon, and my husband got the "50 Shades of Green" - definitely one of the most unique cocktails we've ever tried! The description "arugula infused gin, yogurt washed aquavit with Pandan herbs & lime" - it had everything - some sour, some umami, some sweet from the Pandan - what a fun and unique cocktail. Shortly after we walked in, a huge group of 10-12 women walked in followed by some other groups shortly after them. It was a really fun atmosphere and both cocktails were 10/10.

Price: Expect standard Vail pricing for high-end cocktails, with most drinks ranging between $16-$20. Customer Service: The service was fantastic. The staff was incredibly kind and efficient; even though we stayed for quite a while to catch up, we felt welcomed and well-attended to the entire night. Atmosphere This spot has a cool, welcoming vibe that feels very safe. It's the kind of environment where you can really settle in and enjoy the company you're with. The Drinks I ordered the Sangre del Sol. The flavor was amazing, though be warned it is very strong! It's an excellent choice if you enjoy a cocktail with a serious kick, but I ended up letting my friend finish mine after a few sips. Overall Experience I highly recommend Root & Flower for a beautiful setting and top-tier service. Pro Tip: A huge bonus for this location is the parking! You can park for free after 3 PM at the S. Frontage Rd. East garage right nearby. I'll definitely be back!

The first bite surprised me and interested me and my girlfriend looked at my face and said how are they? I told her I didn't want to prejudice her so just to take one and tried herself. She did and the look on her face was probably like mine, surprised. We both agreed that they were different than any other deviled eggs we had ever had and they were very delicious. The presentation was very nice as well. We shared a beet salad and they split it onto plates for us and it was more than enough for each one of us. We also split a pasta 25 which was good but I had to ask for salt-and-pepper as it was in need of some spices. This is simply the bar/pub in a busy hotel but the kitchen really has it working! The staff did a good job as well but they are mostly very young people working seasonally so you are not going to get professional waitstaff as you would in a high-end restaurant like Leonora. It was still a great experience in the food was surprisingly good and super convenient since we were staying in the hotel.

The food was not very good at all, with the exception of the huge quesadilla appetizer (which came with a ton of fun toppings). The service was terrible. The music was nice. I ordered the turkey panini. Huge serving. Turkey, pesto, spinach, cheese, tomato, bacon. All these ingredients, but somehow this was very bland and soggy. The bacon was barely chewable and had no flavor as well. It came with a side salad. The salad looked delicious but had no flavor or dressing, and the few small croutons on top got soggy from the wet salad toppings. Yuck. I also tried the elk burger. My fiancé ordered this cooked medium. The sides were cooked fine, but the inside looked like ground beef you'd see in the raw meat aisle at a grocery store. He was unable to eat any of the middle of the burger because of this. Now we would've complained about the burger because this was health hazard undercooked inside, but our waitress never returned to ask how our food was until our food was long gone. No water refills so we refilled our own glasses with my reusable water bottle. No bill until literally 30 minutes after we asked her (and this was long after we were trying to figure out why she was not coming back to our table). It was a bummer because she was very nice, but we got no actual service from her.
