UPDATE: Since my last review, I'm upping the stars from one to four. This is only because the service department treated me so well. I bought my car about six months ago and already the rear brakes were in need of replacement. Even though I bought the car as a certified pre-owned vehicle, there's just no way the brakes should have needed replaced so soon. According to their records, the brakes were fine at the time of the sale. I'm not going to argue that point. It was going to cost nearly $900 (after taxes) for them to replace the brakes. Keep in mind, I know not to go to the dealer for work. But, this situation warranted the trip. Anyway, the service manager and his team went above and beyond to take care of me! They were kind and patient, and allowed me to be stressed out and neurotic. They replaced the brakes FREE OF CHARGE and they also did an oil change since it was coming due. Also, FREE OF CHARGE! They did what it took to make things right and for that I'm so very thankful. read more

Mini of Austin made good on their error. I had my Mini in for its annual service and dealt with Jared Steede who was both pleasant and professional. I even complemented our service that day to his manager. Unfortunately my car overheated on the way home and would not drive so we were stuck on the side of the road. Wimberley towing came and took my mini back to the dealership. They followed up to accept responsibility for not fully putting the coolant cap back on the car. They completed another service and covered the cost of the tow. Needless to say they did the right thing. But in these times I'd like to acknowledge that they did the right thing! And so far my car drives like it always did before this error! read more

Had a car Posted for sale saturday, i tried to make an appointment to look at it saturday, was told it was not ready to look at. "Come inTuesday it will be ready" Made the appoinment for Tuesday. Was sent a text monday afternoon it was ready earlier if i could make it monday, i told them i was working but would be there Tuesday as planed. About to go to the appointment and recieved a text they sold it. This is the third time i have tried to purchase a car from these people and the car just dissapears for whatever reason If your going to buy from these people you better just go drive there and get what they have, there appointment Process does not work and is extremly frustrating. read more

Had to take the Mini in for it's yearly oil change and it's still under warranty so off we went with an appointment of course. We were told 2 to 3 hours we would have to wait, but I was just over an hour. Our service rep was super nice, she pointed out the issues that were found and all the normal things German cars run into, but overall Mini was a happy car. The dealer show room / waiting room was being remodeled so it was a bit loud and they didn't have very many chairs setup. The staff was very nice to us including the sales people and we didn't have any issues on that side vs some of the other German dealer I have to take my SUV to for it's service. It's in this scenario that my esteemed Mini gave up the ghost on the I-35 last fall. My regular car mechanic repaired it but the resurrection was short lived. It's horrible, it's my first time to get my car serviced and I almost had a new key and when it was done they gave me an old key and I couldn't believe it, I went to the front desk and asked why I had the old key and they said this is your key, please, I drive to work every day and I know what my keys look like. Even though this is why my car keys were destroyed like this during the maintenance of the car (1-2 hours). I swear these are not my car keys. I don't know if anyone else suspected a car key change. I've never had this experience with any other mini dealer ship. They'll give me a military discount but with the mini of Austin they don't have any. Never take your car here if you need it fixed. My son took his car in for an oil change and had to pay over $5,000 because they discovered some issues. A few months or 1,100 miles after fixing, there were again issues, so we called them thinking it was the same problem that wasn't fixed properly and thought they would pay for towing. Of course, they didn't, and we had to pay. After they diagnosed the problem, they said it wasn't related to the previous time. And another $5k to fix! My husband called his cousin who owns a body shop repair and explained the problem; he said it wouldn't cost more than $1k to fix. We had to have the car towed to his shop once more, but it was worth it! My son should have spent less than $1000 if he hadn't brought the vehicle to the dealer, therefore I felt horrible that he paid over $5,000. It's all his money in the bank. Just so you know, bring the car somewhere else to get fixed if you actually need it fixed! They are insane! It takes a week or so, but at my husbands cousin only take 2 days! We paid $950, save over $4k!! Last but not least, the mini copper that we have always had issues, we put so much money on it, it's not even worth to fix if we have to spend $5k each time and last for months or a thousand mile! I did everything I could to not bring my vehicle here for service after a bad prior experience. After I picked my car up and got all the way home (across town) I noticed that they had replaced my custom license plate holders with mini of austin ones after I had seen that line item come up in the invoice and specifically asked them to NOT replace the license plate holders. Normally if a service department replaces something custom on a vehicle they give you back your property (the plate holders) so I would have at least noticed it had been done when it could be addressed. They didn't pull the car into the bay but rather left it out on the street so I got in it without seeing the front of back of the vehicle. read more

I just acquired my third MINI from MINI of Austin. I loved my 2017 MINI 2 Door Hardtop, but I couldn't stop thinking about some of the newer features that had become available in the last few years. Also, a switch from a two-door to the slightly larger four-door model would make it easier to get my older dog into the back seat. I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy or lease a new car, and I was also entertaining the idea of buying another certified used MINI. I also really didn't have any free time to go to the dealership, so the wonderful Damon and I texted for about a week. He ran through just about every scenario you could think of and even sent me a few videos of cars on the lot. Nothing was coming up within my budget, so I was ready to call it a day. Now this is going to sound like a cliché, (because it is) but Damon told me he was going to check with his manager and see what they could do for me. The next morning there was an offer in my inbox that satisfied every single one of my requirements. I had been informed I needed to call MINI of North America for further help and when I asked for their number the woman assisting me said she could only write down the name "mini of North America" When I finally received the loaner car I needed, it was covered in filth and dirt. Very high standards followed at this dealership and oh how I do appreciate it. Taylor in the service dept, the others too and the auto tech have made my experiences the best. These people have gone out of their way to satisfy me and then some. I trust them which sais a lot, I am not easy to please. I've owned an automotive shop shop in the past for nearly 20 years. Had a 10:30am appointment to have the oil and two air filters replaced. Had a mail piece Mini of Austin had sent me 4 days ago, saying some of my services were covered by the "Boot to Bonnet" maintenance agreement, but turns out that had expired and the items were no longer covered. After five and a half hours (4pm) I showed up at the dealership and they had not touched my car. I told them to forget the service and give me back my Mini. Find another place!! read more

Misleading information on new car run flat tire warranty: I received a CD with the new car purchase titled "Mini Tire Manufacturer Warranty Guide" inside a Mini branded sleeve. Well, at1500 miles, on a smooth asphalt my tire blew. No objects in the tire, it just blew. Problem is, what you gave me as manufacturer warranty (which offers road-hazard coverage within the 1st year if bought from a tire dealer) clearly states that no warranty if OEM installed with a new vehicle. You misled me thinking that tires had warranty by giving me this CD when there is no warranty whatsoever. If I was told while buying the car that tires did not have any warranty, I may have decided differently or may have purchased the extra coverage Mini offers. At this time I am out of $300 to replace one tire 2 months and 1500 miles after buying a premium new car. read more

In fact, he and the service foreman, Brent, went the extra mile to make sure that I was happy and satisfied, and indeed I was. Integrity and honesty are the hallmarks of both and represent Mini of Austin well. Because of those manifest values of honesty and integrity, when I'm ready for a new Mini, it will be purchased at Mini of Austin. I spoke so well about Mini of Austin to my family, that my grandson, who wants a Mini, will be buying his next car from them. Not only that, but my daughter brought her Mini down from up North to have it looked at. The tech was able to make a repair for her in one minute and there was no charge. I will have to say, I've had 5 minis in my life.. and I've always brought it in to Austin of Mini. I've dealt with pretty much everyone. Sometimes it's top notch service, one time it took them 9 days to finally test my car to see what was wrong with it but then they couldn't figure it out so I drove up there, took it out for 30 mins and then drove it back and showed them the issue.. after they fixed that another major part broke on it... although I can't really fault them for being busy busy, they did in fact take care of me. My car is a CPO so I have to pay $50 every time I bring it since I'm over 36k miles meow. So the second time it broke down, they covered it because the two unrelated items happened days of each other. So they waved the second fee. That was nice and made me a happy customer once again. I've never been ghosted by a service department before but when MINI of Austin ghosted me it was a gift. We had gone in for front brakes and they found other problems which isn't unexpected for a 7 year old car. The problems were deemed time sensitive, must fix issues to the tune of $5k+. It was Friday, so we opted to think about it over the weekend. I got a couple other directional quotes, sight unseen, and they were slightly less but MINI had a coupon offer that made it about the same. The following week I called twice, sent them two emails and sent texts to them. All of those things on multiple days and even left messages for two different people to try and arrange service. One response on text committed to contact me the next morning. Never happened. I also tried the contact link on their page which either sent me irritating AI responses or is the worst person ever to have email customers because they just rearranged the same sentences in different ways and none addressed my concern. So I went somewhere else and they informed me only one of the issues was critical. One didn't exist based on their assessment and one should just be watched as it's a wear situation not a failure. Getting ghosted saved me $3k. Thanks. As a positive, I will say that we do like our Countryman as well as our 1st mini and the sales experience at this dealer has gone as expected. read more

Taking into consideration the whole COVID thing, I got to say that 1st impressions of this service department showed that it lacks significantly in customer care and acknowledgement. Upon arrival for vehicle service and to have problems addressed/corrected it seems the service section was doing their best to ignore the arrival of my spouse and her mini. The wife purchased this Mini as a CPO vehicle with run flats. There were lock lugs that she did not have a key for (problem 1). So she was unable to have a tire shop check and fix the nail she had in the tire (problem 2). The day prior she had called to setup an appointment and was told to bring it in first thing so that they could look at getting the right key for it (as there maybe over a dozen possibilities). The Mini and its owner arrived shortly before 8am and were the 1st vehicle/ customer on site. So naturally you would think that one of the service personnel would acknowledge the arrival of a Mini and its owner; but that did not happen, However, KUDOS to the custodian for informing my spouse that they would be with her as soon as possible. Shortly thereafter someone had checked her in (so we had thought) and stated that it would be approximately 2 hours to have her concerns addressed. Well 2 1/2 hours later we returned not only to find that the wife's Mini was never entered, but that 2 other vehicles (which arrived after us) had been entered and were being worked on. Apparently the shop foreman and/or service manager are really oblivious to the on goings of the service department or simply derelict in their duties and responsibilities in running this department (things that make you go hmmmm). Having run a maintenance shop previously, I do understand that sometimes things happen. Maybe I was blessed with the persons working for me or maybe they understood the shop standards. But at no time did a job arrive and not get addressed or put into the repair order system (again things that make you go hmmmm?) The only saving grace came from a young lady, Ms Jacqueline, I believe was her name. Even though she was not the service representative that blew us off she took action and responsibility as I would expect for the department lead to do. This young lady did everything within her ability to make things right and was apologetic about the actions of the oblivious males in the service section. At the start of writing this review the service being received was shameful at best and was on its way to a 1 STAR. Especially considering the many people I know that swear by their BMW and MINI dealers and service departments. However, if not for the acknowledgement, single apology, and leadership quality and actions taken by Ms Jacqueline on behalf of the service department of Mini of Austin a 1 star is where this may have ended But because of her actions, competence and initiative Ms Jacqueline most assuredly earned herself 6 STARS. I've been a MINI of Austin customer since they opened, and I have ALWAYS had great experience, both from sales and maintenance. My last MINI was totaled by a hit-and-run, and due to the pandemic, there have been no cars to be had. Somehow, Tracy (GM) and Chase (salesman), worked their magic to get me into a lease. Tracy went above and beyond to search inventory in other dealerships nationwide, and she quickly came up with a lease option. As for maintenance over the last 15 years of owning minis, the service has always been reasonably quick, with a nice coffee lounge to work in, or they just give me a loaner vehicle. Mini's are still a terrible product overall, and this particular dealer is just as bad. UPDATE: There's a class action suit going on in regards to the high pressure fuel pump on 2010 coopers. Yes folks its happening! Mini initially got hit with a suit regarding the fuel pumps and only covered 2007-2009 models...although the 2010 models have the VERY SAME PUMP...really???? And to make matters worse, apparently if you want to buy the part (that used to be very low priced like 250, but is now 700 to 1500) retail for a DIY or get done with an independent mechanic its skyrocketed! because MINI made a deal with the manufacturers so they can get the part cheap while the rest of the undermarket pays heavily...which forces you back to where?....MINI to get it done. YUP shady capitalism at its finest. Its a SAFETY issue, in my previous review I smelled gas upon start up, and these crappy HPFP (high pressure fuel pump) have been known to just STOP while drivers were doing freeway speeds..so yes its bad, really bad. Thank goodness for the class action suit. Its being done by the same attorneys who did the timing chain class action suit...thank you for that or id be out of 2500! read more

Longtime MINI owner, so Steven and Marco didn't have to work hard to convince me to purchase, but they made the purchase of a 2021 custom build smooth as silk. My 2009 Cooper needed to be retired, but I didn't want a 2020 model (this year has been nuts, and I'm superstitious). I had already gone to the online tool to get a good idea of what I wanted, but Marco figured out what package would be the most inclusive at my price point. He was supportive and completely unfazed by my giddy enthusiasm. He was knowledgeable about the custom build process and was realistic about his projection on how long it should take. He and Steven updated me throughout, telling me when the build was completed, when the car had shipped and when it arrived at port. The process took half as long as I expected (I got lucky that my car did not have to wait long at the port to ship). Finance was no pressure and I never felt I was being "worked" or "sold". I'm confident using them for service, as they helped me nurse my previous model for several years. I think that my chariot and I will be in good hands for many years. read more

I never recieved good service here! A one hour oil change always ended up becoming 2, 2.5 hours! and good luck getting your car washed. Never happens. The last straw was when I was in in June. After declining to purchase new tires - I could get them cheaper at Firestone! and it was unnecessary - the held my mini cooper hostage. After 2 hours 10 minutes I asked for my car. They brought it back to me, after I paid almost 100$ for an oil change, only to discover later that day they never topped off my fluids, and even left the oil cap OFF the engine. They never put the cap back on. Thank God it stayed on my engine on the ride home. Avoid this horrible place!!! They don't care about you or your mini. read more

This "dealership" had me wait for 5 months for the car to finally manufacture and the day the car arrives from the port that is when they finally chose to run my credit and low-and-behold MINI doesn't want to offer a dime due them taking issue with my credit score. Brought our car in for a couple of simple service items - oil change, replacing a small cosmetic part that had broken and checking to make sure there wasn't a leak in a reservoir. We had an appointment so I was pretty shocked to hear it would take 2 days. Service manager said they had 4 people out with Covid - I definitely understand and sympathize but his whole attitude was like " tough s$&t if you don't like it. Two days later, nothing from the dealer so we had to call mid afternoon to find out it would be ready late afternoon - couldn't pick up so we grabbed it the next day - Saturday - only to find they had misplaced our garage door opener. No one could find it that day so they said they would leave a message for our service manager and have him call us on Monday. Of course he didn't call so we called him and he said he would look - been several days now and crickets. We have purchased two cars in the past from this location. My wife loves the Mini while I think they are relatively poorly built in many ways and almost every little service item requires a shlep to the dealer. In the past, at least the service was professional and timely but that appears to be out the window. Glad we sold the vehicle. read more

Took my Mini Cooper in to get fixed at this dealership. there was a broken coolant pipe that is literally it. I just fixed that myself today in less then 30 minutes with a total of about $50 for the part which they were gonna charge me a whopping $1,725 for parts and labor. I went to this dealership 4 TIMES to solve this same 1 coolant leak problem that they never fixed. every time I brought it in I paid for random shit that wasn't even broken. they told me if I paid to get everything fixed wrong with it my third time there, they will take off a couple hundred bucks which ended up being like $3,900 instead of 4,100 (wow such a steal) and they ended up NOT EVEN FIXING WHAT I BROUGHT IT FOR AGAIN, oh but they sure fixed everything else that wasn't even wrong with my car! I'm beyond frustrated that I wasted my time and poured over $6,000 into my car at this dealership just to fix that one leak that was the problem since the very beginning. I was able to go in that day and take a look and decided to buy the car. I felt like I was treated honestly and with integrity, and our salesman followed up on everything we needed. I just bought my first Mini last week. Marco made the buying process so easy and simple and made sure I was comfortable with all aspects of the car before leaving. He spent time the week before finding another Mini with similar specs for me after the one I originally wanted sold. I had an unexpected issue with the car that same day after driving it home to Waco. The customer service that Travis provided went above and beyond after being alerted of the issue. He coordinated everything to ensure the Mini was brought in and checked quickly. The problem was minimal and solved super fast. I've been interested in Mini's for quite some time. I almost bought one back in 2012 but fate intervened sine I was meant to have this epic ( I don't use that word lightly) experience now. I first began looking at used Mini's at various other dealerships but saved the best for last and went to the authorized Mini dealer of Austin. Upon first look, this facility is damn cool. It's visually stunning, great lines, great colors and offers Starbucks hot cocoa and coffee. Oh and the good flavored creamer. They even have a stocked mini fridge with Mountain Dew (kiddo was happy) and other canned drinks. I loved the people watching since Mini, new to be owners all have a certain 'Je ne sais quoi'. The Mini Sales Guy that helped us was Stephen D. and what a help he was. This was by far the best car buying experience EVER!! Which really says a lot. He flat out set out the goal which was to give me the best buying experience possible and make sure we left high fiving each other. Which is exactly what we did! I was upside down (way upside down) but our credit had improved and we were eager to lower our payments and grab a better interest rate. Stephen was able to problem solve and create a plan that would make it all happen. Instead of a used Mini he got us into a new Mini and surpassed our expectations. Funny enough we test drove on a rainy day then we picked up our car on the day that Austin had tornadic action and flooding. Yikes! They had our car pulled inside the building us, basically on display....that was pretty special! When it came time for us to leave, they opened the big doors and we drove out! Their product specialist Brad G. was so thorough and you couldn't tell he probably does this numerous times in a day with that big smile he had, and answering any questions I had with ease. Thank you for that! Finance manager was also a cool guy who made the process easy. Everything was just simple and easy! I am so impressed by the service provided that I think they have made a mini 'lifer' out of me. Never thought I would say that or become loyal to a car company....but here it is. I leased a Mini in January of 2016 and have been disappointed with the service (both sales and maintenance) time and time again. First of all, my dealer changed 4 times throughout my lease with no notification. My second dealer told me that the car was a "piece of crap" and would not last much past 3 years...kind of awkward. The only time I was called by anyone at Mini was when my lease was coming up and then I was called by 3 different people claiming to want to "help me." I spoke with Brad most recently (last week) to discuss drop off. He told me he was going to call me back in 2-5 minutes and I haven't heard from him since. It seems that their hospitality only applies to those that are buying. The maintenance department is horrible!!! I waited 3 hours in the waiting area for them to change a tire and they still "forgot" to wash the car. I have walked into that facility about 10 times, my Mini has needed a lot of maintenance, and have never once seen a mechanic working. I brought my car in for an oil change and they ended keeping it for 3 WEEKS for faulty wiring to the rear lights. I had wanted to own a Mini Cooper for 15 years before leasing this one and I have to say it has been a huge let down. I am just glad that I leased and never have to deal with any of the poor treatment and service I received at Mini of Austin again. read more
