I moved from Ohio to Austin, TX. in July. Within a month of being here, I got into a car accident and totaled my car. In the midst of being in a brand new city, starting a new full time career, and having to get transportation to/from work, you can see how the circumstances were already hindering my new vehicle search. I came across Mid-Tex on cars.com, so I called and spoke to Shane. I was able to get a ride from a co-worker to test drive the car, which Shane assured me had never been in an accident and was in great shape. Under the impression that everything was functioning perfectly with the vehicle, the asking price was already about 2K more than the Kelley blue book price. Fortunately, I was smart enough to get a buyer's check on the car before buying - they came back with a couple of apparent issues that I should be aware of before making a purchase. Additionally, it was obvious that - due to the frame - that the car has been involved in a wreck. When I brought this back to the dealership, Mid-Tex mentioned that yes, they were aware the vehicle was in an accident - even though I was told initially that it wasn't. If I wanted repairs to be done before the car was sold to me, it would cost an additional $500-1K on top of what they were asking. Being that the car was already overpriced with the impression it was working perfectly, I easily denied the offer. Within minutes, I got a call back offering the original price with repairs included. About a week later, I bought the vehicle with repairs. Within a few days, I started begin experiencing issues with the locks. I couldn't get into or start the car without the security alarm going off. I called Mid -Tex, brought the vehicle out to show them what was going on, and Blake agreed to have it "fixed" for me. I will say, that I appreciate when I have spoken to Blake (the owner) about any issues I've had in the process of test driving, purchasing, and fixing my car than any time when he hasn't been involved.
I say "fixed" in quotation marks because of where I'm at today - I am back home in Ohio, it's Christmas day, and all I can think about is this car back in Austin - I initially purchased the car in November. As of the morning of December 9th, it failed to start - cold turkey, out of nowhere. Since this day, I've been forced to leave it vacant in the parking garage of my apartment because it won't start. I've gotten the battery checked, the starter checked, all the fuses and relays, and replaced the ignition switch. I still can't get into the vehicle without the security alarm sounding - using either method, automatic or manual lock/unlock.
I just moved across the country and put every last dime I had in my bank account to purchasing a vehicle from Mid-Tex - I regret purchasing this Chevy bc I have had nothing but issues in the month I've owned the car. I'm back in Ohio for Christmas but as mentioned, I put all the money I had in my bank account into buying this car. I've spent all the additional money I make outside of rent and bills to fix this car. And guess what? 1. Due to putting all of my money in this car, I had no money to buy any of my family members a gift for Christmas. 2. When I return to Austin on January 30th, I will still be without a vehicle that even attempts to start.
As a young girl that just moved across the country alone to start a new career, I obviously put more trust into this dealership than I should have. I have made Mid-Tex aware of my on-going issues with the car, which I have been assured I'm pretty much SOL for. Unfortunate because I would much more rather being writing a review thanking mid-tex for being credible, trustworthy, and reliable to someone like myself given the circumstances. Everyone please send me positive thoughts that I have better luck with my car situation in 2017 than I did in 2016. read more
