I got to the dealership roughly at 4:30. I was told that I would be out numerous times within thirty minutes.All I would have to do is sign and go. Well, that was the first misleading statement from carmax. I did not leave the dealership until 9:30. 3. The salesperson that was assigned to me.His name was ramsey. I never felt comfortable with this guy.He never made me feel as if my best interest was being met. The process felt just like a process.Give me in, get me out.Let him move on to the next person. He spoke to me in a very condescending wait, in fact, I had to correct him a couple of times about the way he was speaking to me. He spoke to me as f I was a individual who lacked the intelligence to understand the process. 4. Ramsay also didn't give me the full carmax experience of when you buy a new car. while waiting 44 and a half hours, I did see other salespeople.When they finished up their sale, walk with their clients to their new car and give them the yellow bow treatment with the pitcher. Well, needless, say that is not an experience that I got with ramsey. As I said previously, everything seemed like a rush process, he made me totally feel like I was an inconvenience to him.And wasting his time. 5. Let's talk about the appraisal process. Now, this isn't something that i'm really upset about, because you can't really have a vehicle appraised online and have an actual good appraisal without an actual appraiser.Looking at the car. Online, they told me, initially I was gonna get $8000 for my car, well, turns out, I only got $6400. 6. Let's talk about the car. I purchased a 2024 BMW 330I with the M2 Sports package with 7,100 miles on it. After spending 425 hours in the dealership, it was finally time for me to get my car. WELL THE FIRST THING I NOTICED WHEN I GOT INSIDE THE CAR WAS THAT THE FLOOR MATS WERE GENERIC FLOOR MATS THAT DID NOT FIT THE CAR AT ALL. AND WHEN I SAY THEY DID NOT FIT THE CAR AT ALL, MEANING THE FLOOR MATS ACTUALLY COVERED THE GAS PEDAL. i brought this to the attention of the floor sales manager. Instead of coming up with helpful solutions from the beginning I was told that the pitchers online did not come with floor mats.So they just threw some floor mats in there. Again, I told this guy that this is a safety issue.The floor mats literally covered the gas.Pedal, and they let me drive off that way. They told me to find some floor mats under a hundred and fifty dollars, and they were reimburse me. Now I'm not the sharpest knife in it. Kitchen drawer? But I would always think that a dealership's top priority is to make sure they're letting you leave in a nice safe vehicle At the very least, they could have said.Hey, let us take these car mats out this vehicle.And when you buy some new ones, just bring us the receipt and reimburse you.No that did not happen. 7. Let's continue to talk about the car. Before carmax sells your car.They are supposed to do a quality inspection on the vehicle. I'm under the impression that this vehicle did not get a dural quality.Inspection. My reasoning for saying that is because the following day When I took the car to where I work at which is ABM W dealership It was pointed out to me that the windshield had a very large crack in it. Now to give carmax credit, they did get that problem.Taken care of they replaced the entire windshield. The car was also missing all four valve stem caps. Does summit all up my first and last car buying experience with carmax was an utter failure. The only reason I left with this car is because of myself. Pride, because I was telling everyone I was buying this car, and I had to deal wrapped up.That's the sole reason that I bought this car. When I found a slightly better deal locally than I did on Carvana, I took the plunge. From the beginning, Angela was super helpful and responsive. She didn't insist on talking on the phone and was happy to text details, which is infinitely more manageable during the workweek. When it came time to make the trek to Austin e Autos, Angela let me know that she would be off that day and handed off the deal to Isaac. Isaac is the best. Isaac put us through the paces of letting us test drive, then talking numbers. At no point did the numbers they advertised ever change. I came in with pre-approval through USAA, and they did not push me toward in-house financing. This has never happened to me before. They usually push that really hard. Once the numbers were agreed upon, we were handed over to Stephanie for the paper signing. This was equally painless, and there was no push to buy extended warranties, wheel insurance, GAP, etc, etc, etc. The numbers we discussed with Isaac were the exact numbers we signed off on with Stephanie. When I asked about the negative reviews on Google, Yelp, and Bing, he explained that satisfied customers do not always take the time to leave reviews, while people who experience a problem are often more motivated to write one. He also explained that a mechanic can inspect a vehicle's current condition but cannot predict or guarantee what might happen in the future. Some customers believe they have the same expertise as an ASE-certified mechanic, attempt their own repairs or experiment with the vehicle, and later blame the dealership when something goes wrong. A pre-owned vehicle has been driven by previous owners and may have normal wear or minor cosmetic imperfections. I purchased a car from this dealership for my son, who was heading off to college. The Cars4uTX sticker is still on the back of what is now a broken car. At the time, it seemed like a great deal--low mileage (61,000), no accidents, everything looked clean. But after just 6,000 easy highway miles, the transmission completely failed. In my opinion, the chances that the dealer didn't know the car was on the verge of a major failure are XZERO. Just Google "Nissan transmission problems" or ask any AI platform for an overview. AI Summary on Nissan CVT Transmission: Nissan's CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) has a well-documented history of issues: premature failure, overheating, whining or shuddering noises, and more. These problems often result in delayed acceleration, power loss, or total failure--sometimes even leading to accidents. Selling the car as-is is an option, but I'd be lucky to get a few thousand dollars for it. Fixing it and then selling it is another possibility--but honestly, unlike a dealer like Cars4UTX, I'd feel guilty passing a car with known transmission issues on to another person or family just looking for reliable transportation. All I can say is this: buyer beware with this dealership. Ask every question. Do your research. Don't expect the dealer to be upfront--they just want to move inventory. This has been a very expensive lesson for us. There are plenty of other dealerships out there. Choose wisely.

Our 2014 Mazda CX-5 seemed fine on the outside but hid serious issues. Dealer's own shop "passed" it for emissions, but an independent inspection found an illegal O2 sensor spacer (emissions tampering) and nearly $7,000 in needed repairs. Contracts were only in English--my girlfriend (limited English, first-time buyer) was pressured to sign alone. She put $2,000 down, and is now stuck paying $430/month for 5 years ($26,000 total) for a car that is not legal to drive. Dealer refused to provide inspection or repair records, removed the car from their website after our complaints, and never addressed any issues. We filed a DMV complaint; the dealer got to see/respond to everything, offered a vague "unwind" (buyback) but never put anything in writing. Once faced with real repair costs, he stopped communicating and tried to go through the lienholder instead. Bottom line: This place has a pattern of selling unsafe, misrepresented cars, ghosting buyers, and using procedural games to avoid responsibility. Documentation available to any agency or buyer. ADDITIONAL UPDATE: Title: Emissions Tampering, Odometer Issues, and Deceptive Inspections - Avoid Alex & Sons Affordable Review: Alex & Sons Affordable Auto Sales performed the emissions inspection for a used car we purchased from a dealer on the same lot. After purchase, we discovered a 12-mile odometer gap between their emissions test and the sale, raising serious suspicion of odometer manipulation and OBD2 resets. An independent shop found an illegal O2 sensor spacer (emissions tampering), multiple pre-existing safety and emissions defects, and over $7,000 in immediate repairs--none of which were disclosed by Alex & Sons.
