I was expecting this to be pretty great food considering the prices were higher than the other asian restaurants I was looking to order from. This wasn't bad, but it was pretty meh and definitely not worth the cost for me. I also wish they would rename the cheese wontons to "crab and cheese wontons" because I ordered these thinking they would be fish-free but there were little specks of crab in them so I could not eat that dish. The vegetable lo mein was pretty good and the vegetables seemed fresh and not frozen. It was an oddly sweet dish though, but I didn't hate it. Not a terrible option, but I would try other similar restaurants first. read more

My wife and I have been repeat customers for this place. My favorite is the coconut shrimp while my wife says their wonton soup is the best she's ever had. Our daughter's favorite is the fried chicken wings. Ming's Dynasty even called us tonight to make sure something on our order was correct. This place has the best Chinese food around. We have had Chinese food from a a few other places but ever since we found Ming's Dynasty, we have not ordered from anywhere else for Chinese food. The portions are so large as well. Good things: The hot and sour soup, the pepper shrimp, and the sesame balls were all good at the Sunday luncheon buffet that cost $10.99/person. It was an all you can eat situation, making the Sunday buffet a good value if you like the food. There are at least 15 different choices on the buffet. Service was attentive. Not so good: most of the food is fried. Some of the entrees are mediocre or worse. The restaurant/building is dated and I suspect nearly 50 years old (I can recall eating here in 1976, and not much has changed in the last 43 years.) When you drive by on Mississippi Ave, it is hard to not see the trashed patio plastic screens that are torn and worn out, giving it a ghetto look. Likewise, the bathrooms are badly in need of an update. Bottom line: 2.5 stars to 3, will give it the higher rating but this is not great Chinese food. read more

Food has gotten slightly better in quality but there must be newer management here because the front of house staff seems to be surely and all business when seating you. The actual dining room staff is great and the food is always hot and fresh here but I usually go when they first open. Every year I introduce my middle school students to one of my favorite ancient Chinese proverbs, "The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is now," Coincidentally, the same holds true for Ming's Dynasty-- "The best time to eat at Ming's was anytime in the last 40+ years. The second best time is now." I have eaten at Ming's over 100 times and have tried so many dishes and never been disappointed. Tonight I was craving the Beef Chow Fun and decided to make a pit stop. Just ordering Beef Chow Fun is fun! Don't believe me... turn on your phone's camera, reverse the view, and say, "I'll have a ton of beef chow fun for one!" Did you crack a smile? Of course you did. Now to the fun! The beef chow fun was amazing. The beef was flavorful, the onions were tangy, and the fun noodles were thick a chewy! It is so good they should rename it, Beef Chow Funtastic! I also ate their crab and cheese wontons! You get 8 with a sweet dipping sauce, again, quite amazing. The dinning room is open and sophisticated. The staff, happy and helpful. I'm pretty sure Aerosmith was talking about Ming's when they wrote the song Wok This Way. After dinner enjoy some hot tea-cher or just some hot tea. Compared to other Asian restaurants in the area, this one is the best. They have a full menu that offers just about anything I could ask for, and everything I've tried has been really good. I have lived across from this restaurant for 8 years. They are currently under new management, and things have improved greatly. They have a very affordable and satisfying lunch special menu during the week. I enjoy their shrimp spring rolls, fried pork dumplings, mushu pork, and beef or chicken lo mein. So I thought I would try something new and come to Ming dynasty it's right across from where I was doing laundry when I go in there's a sign that says they automatically charge 18% on for a tip I don't have a problem with that I tipped more regularly I asked to sit outside and then he tells me oh it's an extra dollar to sit outside there was only one person in this restaurant and it's not that I don't have the dollar but why would they do that they just lost a potential customer over a dollar but I may have missed out on some good food. Used to be a reasonable option, but now they charge 18% gratuity on dine-in and have raised menu prices about 20%.  I understand some of this is inflation, like at the gas pump recently, but it seems a bit excessive.  Also, there used to be nice, helpful young people working there, but now it's an older woman who never has my order ready on time and asks repeatedly if I am who I say I am.
