i'm mostly pleasantly surprised denver even has a malaysian restaurant! i was just in malaysia, so perhaps the comparison isnt fair. but i felt like they made a few of substitutions that didnt really hold up the integrity of the dishes. let me go down each item one by one. roti canai-- great. serviceable, seems about right. i think its usually fairly easy to get this one down, but regardless, i had no complaints. satay-- something was up with the condiment. it tasted fine, but it's not the typical satay peanut sauce. it was closer to a peanut butter. and it didnt come with the chopped cucumber and onion bits which often accompany satay. char kuay teow-- i only had a bit of this, but this just felt like a cantonese beef stir fried noodle but with egg. it was still good, just not really char kuay teow. nasi lemak-- this is the main thing from what i ordered. i dont know where to start with this one, but considering this is the national dish of malaysia, it feels strange to get this one so wrong. the sambal was wrong, it should be a darker red and have more onion. the chicken was far too crisp, not really the right kind of preparation for nasi lemak. then the... vegetable stuff? i dont know the name of this, but from what i know, it doesnt belong in nasi lemak. also, it was 50% jalapeño by volume. normally, this would just be straight up cucumber. i feel like this substitution not only makes the dish further away from nasi lemak, it makes it harder to prepare. i cant be too harsh though, coming from a malaysian family in america i know how hard it can be to get the right ingredients for stuff. again, im honestly impressed this place even exists, in denver especially. im grateful it does. the service was amazing, too. our server was very friendly, checked in on us just the right number of times, and was very enthusiastic about our choice of order. the decor is also quite lovely. i'm hoping their regular customer base is less nitpicky than i am about malaysian food.

My go to restaurant for Malaysian Singaporean dishes. Always get my beef rendang, char Kwee tiau, and kangkung belachan. Friendly service from the staff.

Love to have a taste of home. I prefer the non fusion so it was nice to eat here. Kent is friendly and attentive as well. We chose to start with roti canai and then our entrees of beef rendang and char koay teow. The spice levels are on the spicy side so make sure to choose accordingly. He loves the beef rendang. The beef was tender and flavorful. Rich and tasty rendang. I went with char koay teow and added shrimp. Flavorful and yummy. A taste of home indeed. The restaurant is clean and cozy. We had such a good time and ate well.

Dined here again with a colleague and thought the food was pretty solid. The waiters passion for food shined through. This place has been established for a while for good reason too. Would go back! The menu has delicacies from all over Asia. While they don't have a lot of dessert options there are plenty of options near by. Kind of funny how they always have a tv running in the background.

This place is such a hidden gem! Family-owned and operated, and you can really taste the love and passion in every dish. Everything is packed with incredible flavor, the Hainanese chicken is so good! Service was excellent! It's a cozy, hole-in-the-wall spot that gives you an authentic, home-cooked feel. Parking is super easy, and there's even a boba shop right next door for dessert, the perfect combo! I can't wait to come back and try more from the menu.

Finally got a chance to visit this well known location, and leave very very happy customer. It was lunch time but I decided to ordered authentic dishes that I missed. So voila; Gado gado (steamed veggies, tofu with peanut sauce and rice crackers) also chicken satay and sauce sambal (spicy ). It's a must try and if you are in Denver; they have wide variety of menu that will not disappoint you. Service was friendly, fast and super efficient. Very layback while also strategic location. Sooo let's go have some Indonesian, Thai, Chinese and Vietnamese food now!!

Service here is always great, and the food is incredible. Is, and will continue to be, a regular spot for us.

To.go.contaimers stored in men's restroom! The ones they send food out in! Gross!! And direct violation!!

The business at 1699 S Colorado Blvd B, Denver, CO 80222 JAYA ASIAN GRILL was keeping to go containers in there restroom on November 22, 2025 at 450 pm. Here are the photos from the day of event. When i told the owners they said they health department allows them.to do that. Complete violation of health and safety!!! No, single-use or reusable food containers should not be kept in the bathroom due to significant health and sanitation risks. Here are the key reasons why this practice is strongly discouraged, and often a health code violation in a commercial setting: Risk of Contamination: Bathrooms are areas with high concentrations of germs and bacteria. Storing items intended for food contact in this environment poses a high risk of contamination. Health Code Violations: The FDA Food Code explicitly states that "single-service items shall not be stored in toilet rooms". Health departments take such non-compliance seriously and will issue violations if discovered during an inspection. Unsanitary Environment: Regardless of how clean a bathroom appears, the nature of its use makes it an unsanitary place for anything that will come into contact with food. Aerosolized Bacteria: Flushing a toilet can create aerosolized particles that can travel and land on surfaces and stored items, introducing bacteria that can lead to foodborne illness. Proper Storage Practices: Food containers should be stored in a clean, dry, and designated area, such as a kitchen cabinet or pantry, away from potential sources of contamination. For information on safe food handling and storage practices, you can refer to resources from health authorities like the FDA or your local health department's guidelines

Delicious Indonesian food. I had the nasi lemak, kangkung belacan, tahu malacca, nasi goreng ikan asin, and durian shake. It was all so delicious. Our sever was helpful and friendly. I just wish I had more time in Denver to eat more of their dishes.

This restaurant may have to be our secret go to! Living about 5 min away, I pass Jaya every day and after a year and a half, my boyfriend and I finally went. Penang curry is my favorite dish, and it did not disappoint here! It was unique with a lot of veggies and overall delicious. We also had the Mongolian beef that was tasty and tangy. The wings were also delicious with the perfect crisp and sauce to it. In addition to the great food, our server was so kind and honest. He made sure to stop to talk to us and be personable. Overall, it's a hidden gem that we enjoyed and plan to go back to soon!

While visiting Denver, my coworkers and I went to ChoLon downtown. It was restaurant week in Denver…read moreso the menu was limited but we still found a lot of items to try out. The chicken soup dumplings, pork potstickers, and the ice cream was all very good! I wasn't such a huge fan of the tufu pork belly noodles. I'm not really a fan of tofu but I didn't really like the noodle dish in general. The inside of the restaurant is beautiful and well designed. The wait staff was also very friendly. I would like to come back here and try more items from their regular menu.

If you've read my reviews before, you already know two things about me. I give honest feedback, and…read moreI cannot stand being served cold food. Lately it feels like a lot of restaurants are charging more while giving less, and it's getting harder to find places that actually care about the customer experience. Unfortunately, this was another one of those experiences. We ordered three side dishes and three drinks, and the bill came out to around $100. Two of the three sides were served cold, the dumplings at least came out hot, but they were pretty mediocre and nothing I'd order again and drinks were extremely over priced. The waitress was fine, no real issues there, but it did feel like the food may have been sitting in the kitchen too long before it hit the table even though the place was empty. At the end of the day, it's hard to justify paying that kind of money for cold, underwhelming food, then feeling awkward about the tip because the experience just wasn't good. I won't be back. If I had known this is what the experience was I would have definitely gone somewhere else. As an added bonus I felt like crap afterwords, I think it was because of poor quality ingredients. My aim in writing these reviews is to highlight the restaurants and businesses that truly take care of their customers, to give people a heads up about the ones that clearly do not prioritize quality or the customer experience, and to express myself in a world where it often feels like there is very little room to speak honestly about paying top dollar for mediocre experiences. Very disappointing.

Even with a group as large as ours, the food cane or so quick! We did a bit of family style and everybody loved their food! The server was incredibly nice and so attentive. Most of our group ordered no spice for our meals. However, the drunken noodles, green curry, and pineapple curry were already a little spicy at baseline, even ordered at "no spice." The server did warn us so we knew ahead of time! But as someone who is embarrassingly bad with spice, I'd say those dishes were spicy for me. Just something to know! We loved it here and would 100% come back!

The atmosphere was casual and inviting, and the location is super convenient. Perfect for grabbing a bite before heading out. I ordered the tofu pad thai at spice level 2, and it was the perfect amount of heat. Not overwhelming, but with a nice kick. The flavor was savory, balanced, and super satisfying to fill my cravings for pad thai. The portion was generous, and the food came out fast, which was perfect since we were on a bit of a time crunch. My friend got the prik pao noodles with pork, also at spice level 2, and the flavor on that dish was bold and rich. That said, the spice definitely packed more of a punch than expected for a level 2, so something to keep in mind if you're sensitive to heat! One small thing I'd note is that the pad thai had some unexpected veggies like bok choy and carrots that were a little undercooked and didn't quite fit the dish for me, but it wasn't a dealbreaker. Service was super friendly and welcoming, which really rounded out the experience. Definitely a great spot for tasty Thai food and solid vibes, I'll be back to satisfy my thai cravings soon :-)
