This place really surprised me. We live nearby but hadn't stopped in or ordered food because of the low ratings and poor reviews that we had read. We have tried numerous Chinese places in Denver that were just awful. We were really missing the Chinese food from back east, had a craving and decided to give it one last shot at Sun Wah. Usually when I order takeout, even if it's a place from right around the corner, it's not hot enough for me when I get home and I have to microwave it. All of our food was HOT. A plus for me! Our Sesame Chicken was cooked nicely - crispy on the outside! I was very happy to find that they gave us DUCK SAUCE in the bag, that I like to use on my egg rolls. All of the Chinese places that we visited around Denver in the past had no idea what duck sauce is ??? The prices are fair and the portions are large. Both my boyfriend and I were able to have dinner and take leftovers for lunch the next day. This is now our Chinese place in Denver!

The value was fantastic too--we spent about $53 total (including tip) for two entrées and two specialty drinks. For drinks, I tried the fruit smoothie, which reminded me of a lassi but without the yogurt. I also really enjoyed the Mint Ginger Spritz. It was light, refreshing, and honestly felt like something that could help settle your stomach after a meal. We ordered the Nan Gyi Dok and the sampler, which came with curry, a samosa, and tea leaf salad. For the curry, we chose the Weh Da Nah. The tea leaf salad was incredibly unique--I have never had anything like it before. The Nan Gyi Dok was probably my favorite dish of the meal. It had a nice medium spice level and came with a light broth on the side that refreshed your palate between bites. The service was excellent as well. The only challenge was finding the restaurant since it's tucked away inside an international mall/food court, but it's absolutely worth seeking out. I'm already looking forward to coming back--and next time I want to try the African food vendors in the market too!

The menu is limited in the number of items but they are all over the map (in a *good* way -- really something for everyone). We ordered a Bahn Xeo crepe (not quite our bag, texture-wise). My wife ordered the Noodle Bowl (enjoyed tremendously). I ordered "Grandma's Meatloaf," which was actually tasty, if a bit crumbly, meatloaf, using noodles as the binding/moisture agent. They have very imaginative and tasty cocktails. SERVICE: Despite a very full house, service was pretty attentive and very pleasant. AMBIANCE: Decor-wise, the place is great -- large fans on the wall, baskets on the ceiling to mask pipes and ducts plus reduce noise levels, nicely attractive, and overall evocative of the Asian motif. The place was very crowded, and the only deuce was right by the door and the cold breeze -- but the staff made us feel welcome and the experience was just what we wanted. NET-NET: We had a fine meal, and enjoyed ourselves. Who could ask for more?

Lately it feels like a lot of restaurants are charging more while giving less, and it's getting harder to find places that actually care about the customer experience. Unfortunately, this was another one of those experiences. We ordered three side dishes and three drinks, and the bill came out to around $100. Two of the three sides were served cold, the dumplings at least came out hot, but they were pretty mediocre and nothing I'd order again and drinks were extremely over priced. The waitress was fine, no real issues there, but it did feel like the food may have been sitting in the kitchen too long before it hit the table even though the place was empty. At the end of the day, it's hard to justify paying that kind of money for cold, underwhelming food, then feeling awkward about the tip because the experience just wasn't good. I won't be back. If I had known this is what the experience was I would have definitely gone somewhere else. As an added bonus I felt like crap afterwords, I think it was because of poor quality ingredients. My aim in writing these reviews is to highlight the restaurants and businesses that truly take care of their customers, to give people a heads up about the ones that clearly do not prioritize quality or the customer experience, and to express myself in a world where it often feels like there is very little room to speak honestly about paying top dollar for mediocre experiences. Very disappointing.

The Rendang beef is my fiancés favorite! It's a coconut beef curry/stew that's slow cooked with a rich brown gravy. You can choose your heat level from 0 spice up- I recommend a little spice. The Hainanese chicken is my favorite - it's poached boneless chicken that's super juicy and comes with ginger scallion sauce and creamy coconut rice! I waited there for my takeout, but the total kept bothering me, so I looked at their menu. When I asked why it was so expensive, he told me that a bowl of white rice costs $5.25. The thing is, I've been ordering this exact meal through DoorDash or Uber Eats almost every month, and the white rice has always come with the meal without any additional charge. I told him I didn't want the rice, and only then did he refund the $5.25. I'm honestly really frustrated. I'm a regular customer and have been ordering from here for a long time, so this experience was pretty disappointing. After I got home, I looked at the reviews on Google and Yelp and noticed that other customers have mentioned similar billing issues. That made the whole situation even more concerning.

From the second I walked in, service was impeccable, welcoming, and helpful. Staff went above and beyond to walk me to the restroom (as it was my first time dining here), out to my patio table, and quickly brought water. Everyone was dressed up for the occasion, chandeliers were lining the interior with a gorgeous and sophisticated look, and the music was a fun K-Pop/dance vibe. Our table of three started with the Buddha Button (essentially a lemon drop martini with Deep Eddy's and a special flower that invigorates your taste buds to create a literal "party in your mouth"). Anything cold adds to the buzzing, vibrating energy; pair the flower with a cold cocktail and it's a phenomenal experience! We also had a bottle of white wine - it was to be expected: tasty. We tried the crab rangoons and thought they were a fun snack, although $21 for four rangoons was tough. I could've gone to Panda Express and gotten four for $3.99 and called it a day. Christine and I both had the Miso Sea Bass - easily the crowd favorite. Even though it was light, it was very flavorful with the sauce, mushrooms, and rice included in the meal. It was mostly filling, though charging $64 for that as the main entree is quite a big stretch. The crowd winner was our server, Maddie. She had amazing recommendations, a full understanding of the menu, and was very attentive and personable. Overall, fun experience! Let's start with the jianbing. It's built on a scallion pancake base, which is a bit thicker than the more traditional version I'm used to, but honestly, I'm not mad about it. It's sturdy, flavorful, and generously loaded with steak. This is not a dainty, whisper-thin breakfast crepe. This is a confident, well-fed jianbing that wants you to be happy and full. The pork belly deserves its own moment. Actually, maybe a standing ovation. It's incredibly tender, deeply flavorful, and clearly treated with care. I had it in the spicy noodles and again in a bao bun, and both times it was excellent. Rich without being heavy, indulgent without tipping into too much. Pork belly doing exactly what pork belly is supposed to do. Now let's talk about the mala wings. These wings are spectacular. Like, "what every chicken wing dreams of becoming when it grows up" spectacular. Crispy, bold, numbing in all the right ways, and dangerously addictive. If you order one thing here, make it these. If you don't order these, I gently question your life choices. I also really appreciate MAKfam's unapologetic embrace of MSG. No fear, no fuss, just smart, thoughtful use of an ingredient that exists to make food delicious. And guess what? It works. Everything is savory, balanced, and satisfying without feeling overdone. Bottom line: this is a genuinely fun place to eat. The food has personality, confidence, and heart. From an Asian fusion perspective, it absolutely delivers, and it's easy to see why they've earned their Michelin mention.

They have really unique options & a good variety of meat choices. It seems to have some French/Japanese/Korean influences woven into these creations. The menu in-store also offers detailed photos of whats inside as to help you make your very difficult decision on what to get. I personally got to try PHO-FRENCH DIP which features beef brisket. Upon first bite, it was delicious! The brisket is plenty. The hoisin & sriracha sauce paired with it all. The veggies appeared fresh & crunchy. The bread was fully baked in-store. Since it's a tribute to the french dip, they had their own rich pho broth type soup to dip it in which complemented the sandwich well. The dip was good enough to kinda drink as well.
