How exciting to have come here for my birthday! My friends made a reservation for 15-20 people, which they could easily accommodate by putting a bunch of tables together. Cherry Creek parking in the evening isn't too bad, since many of the meters no longer run. Service is a little slow but very professional. They even asked me in advance if I wanted them to sing for my birthday. I said no. I enjoyed the most interesting-looking "Chirashi Bowl" with pieces of fish laid atop a flattened scoop of rice. This paired well with hot sake, as well as the chocolate cake they sent over for the occasion. It felt like a neighborhood Japanese spot, which is contrary to many restaurants in Cherry Creek. So many restaurants in Cherry Creek North are overpriced and underwhelming. It is really nice to stumble upon ( thank you Yelp) a great restaurant like Sweet Ginger that is the exact opposite. Even though it is located downstairs there is plenty of natural light ( don't dig the disco edm version of pop songs....but we cant get it all? right?) Service was warm and friendly. Few weeks ago, ordered lunch and after 1hr 20min called and cancelled because of the ridiculously long wait(never ever been long)....had to return to work and told them to give me my money back. The atmosphere at Sweet Ginger is honestly lovely. I sat on their outdoor patio, and the setting couldn't have been more perfect--beautiful flowers all around and ideal weather. The fish had a strong, unpleasant smell that hit before it even reached my mouth--not a good sign. The toro (fatty tuna), which is usually my favorite, was especially disappointing. It was the worst I've ever had--mushy, off-smelling, and just hard to eat. The only thing that was somewhat enjoyable was the peach martini, which was light and refreshing. Used to love this place! However, I ordered sushi to go tonight and got home to an interesting looking sushi roll. When I called them to let them know they told me my food was supposed to look that way. ‍ Anyway it may be safe to eat but it doesn't look good so I ended up throwing everything away. this place used to be top notch in my eyes but has gone downhill. The menu options were varied and the food was good. Interesting that their Thai fried rice seemed to include turmeric. The photos depict California roll, the Grand Canyon roll, green curry with chicken and tempura vegetables. I was surprised with takeout how crispy the tempura was when it got to our house! Delicious!! Have only been able to sample the green curry so far but the curry is flavorful and spicy like I requested. My son loved the sushi. I ordered from sweet ginger via DoorDash on a work trip. They catered my no onion, no garlic, no egg, no fish sauce restriction. The portion was generous (picture of noodles is mid way through my meal because I was really hungry oops) and the rolls were great too. We did not order sushi. So maybe that was the problem. Our food was absolutely dreadful so we will not be giving a second chance. We ordered: Tom Yum - shrimp was slimy and had a fried taste and was if the chef scrapped off 2 tempura shrimps and tossed it in my bowl. The soup itself was mostly large pieces of red onion, and several large pieces of tomato. Wtf tom yum recipe is that about? Not a mushroom or piece of lemongrass to be found. Truly disappointing start to an even worse meal. Drunken Noodles: Chicken was slimy and had a foul taste. The noodles were way over cooked and rubbery. The veggies were ok, but not enough of them to make the dish palatable. We scrapped the chicken onto a side plate and ate as many noodles as I could to at least feel full. The sauce was decent, but unfortunately not redeeming enough to make the meal worth it. Thai Basil Chicken: Same issues. Chicken was disgustingly inedible. There were at least more veggies in this meal to make it somewhat filling. Needless to say, we will not be returning. I read some of the negative reviews (there aren't many) and am calling "BS" (forgive my French) on them! The owners are absolutely lovely: friendly, kind, and so very generous in spirit and action!! We always order gluten-free, as our daughter has celiac, and she has NEVER been sick. Not even once. We love (LOVE!!!) their curries--panang, green curry, peanut curry--and they have others as well. Their drunken noodles are delicious, and their spring rolls are so yummy I could eat them for every meal... AND they will happily make the peanut sauce GF if you ask! We are always made to feel welcome there, and they have both indoor and outdoor seating--both of which are comfortable and festive! I took some girlfriends there for drinks/apps recently, and they, too, were immediately hooked! One ordered sushi and said it was the best she'd tasted in Denver. (I'm a vegetarian, so I cannot speak to this, but her exact words!) Also my father-in-law, who lives in Napa and frequents 5-star restaurants, said that the curry at Sweet Ginger was one of the best meals he'd ever experienced.
