The flavors were good but not quite as stand out as the appearance. It could have used something - the pork was a little too lean and could have used more texture. The eel roll was really good, always one of my favorites. The elite lunch was standard, the salmon sashimi was really fresh and loved the white fish, the rest was just okay for me. Kazumi hits the spot! A quaint and cute little neighborhood sushi spot that is probably the best in its area. The staff are welcoming and friendly and the atmosphere is great. The fish is of very high quality and I had a good selection of sashimi and ngiri. The otoro was top notch as it was very fatty and melt in your mouth. The hamachi was also fresh and both cuts were not fishy, pricing wise they are competitive. I also had several pieces of maguro and albacore sashimi and those were delish! Their rolls were creative and pretty standard compared to many places. Overall the price to portion ratio is great especially being along Holly Street and the surrounding neighborhood. This is a solid little neighborhood sushi place. I haven't tried anything other than sushi here, but I've always been happy with the consistency and the taste of our orders. They don't have anything really groundbreaking on the menu, but the fish is good quality and the rolls are nicely made so they don't fall apart when you try to pick them off the tray. I'd like to see them experiment with some interesting new ingredient combinations, but what they do they do well. This is a good addition to the area. read more

Food is fantastic, came here the first time in February and loved everything about it and decided to come back for a midweek dinner. It's tucked away and seems pretty family/neighborhood oriented. It took us a while to get our sushi after we were seated and finished our appetizers. But I was pleasantly surprised by this little neighborhood sushi spot. The restaurant is small and cozy. There's a mural on the wall on your left as soon as you walk in. This place looks like a good place to stop in for drinks and a snack as well as dinner! We had a group family dinner and it did not disappoint. We kind of went crazy ordering but here are a few favorites of the group: spicy edamame, shishito peppers (I loved these!), shake toro (fatty salmon - my kids ordered 3 orders each), black mamba roll, something that came in little cucumber shot glass looking things, and the crab ramen. They have their own set of parking so you don't have to fight for it on the streets They have lots of natural, bright lighting, making it a very happy atmosphere, and I love the style of a pencil and paper list of all their menu items where you check off the boxes for what you want We tried the rainbow California roll, the aburi Toro, and the aburi flight. I'm a sucker for aburi anything since my favorite sushi are ones that are seared, and these did not disappoint, both the Toro and the flight were amazing. You pay a premium price, but it's worth it. The rainbow California roll was nothing special, I felt like they could have added a bit more to the flavor profile or a crunchy texture to give it some depth. We just happened upon this place through a maps search nearby last week but what a gem! It seemed Japanese owned, and Asian run. The service was friendly - you could tell most people were regulars and treated with great affection! The fish was very fresh and the noodles cooked well. They were also very accommodating to our children and so sweet when there was a toddler food accident, telling us to stop cleaning up so we could enjoy the meal. The drink menu also looked good - for another visit without the kids maybe! Finally, they had both indoor and outdoor seating, depending on what ambiance you prefer! My cousin came to visit me and said she wanted sushi at some point. To be honest - I rarely get sushi even though I like it so I did some research to find authentic sushi rather than the more trendy spots with over the top rolls. This place was perfect. And we also got 2 rolls - Kiss of Fire and Dazzling Night. The yaki udon was flavorful and came with big chunks of chicken. We ate it all up! Yellowtail sashimi had a good kick with the jalapeño but refreshing since they also gave little tomato slices. I liked both sushi's we got but the Dazzling Night was my fave of the two. I liked the light and freshness of it. It had soy paper wrapping instead of seaweed. The kiss of fire was super flavorful. The service was also excellent. Super friendly employees. Our waiter started asking us about ourselves and where we were from. He also made it a point to really thank us for coming which I always appreciate from locally owned places. Friendly staff greeted us at the door and we were seated right away . The decor is all that you would expect for a sushi restaurant. Everything was clean and inviting. Two items we look for in a sushi restaurant menu is agedashi tofu and kama which they had. I enjoyed how they served the tofu separate from the sauce. It's the way I will order it from now on. The sushi was fresh and delicious. Extra points for having rolls wrapped in cucumber, yummy. Another thing that gives them extra points is the amount of rice in their rolls. Just WOW! This my second time here and my boyfriend's third. We've been to many sushi spots in Denver of our 7 years living here, and i officially have a favorite spot and it's Kazumi! I don't leave a lot of reviews, but the staff here are so amazing and the food so good, i feel like i need to tell everyone how amazing this place is. We love getting the salmon and tuna sushi, but my boyfriend is OBSESSED with the eel. I got the golden moments roll, and demolished it completely hence the photo of just the one haha. We prefer sitting at the sushi bar because of the massive TV and we love watching the talented chefs making the sushi. After moving to Hilltop I'm so grateful to have Kazumi just a few blocks away, a comforting neighborhood sushi place that feels like a true community spot. I have been serving for 2 years and I feel I myself haven't experienced or come across any servers as incompetent as the workers here at Kazumi Sushi. The people took way too long to take our order we had decided on our drinks, sushi, apps, AND entrees by the time they'd arrived to our table. Lady took our order, forgot 3 of our items ordered and we were still wrongfully charged for 2 of them. We stayed an hour before the host, Jamie, kicked us out of our table and told to us wait in the front if we weren't gonna order any more food. WE WERE SITTING THERE FOR BUT MERELY 55 MINUTES.
