Beautiful spot for omakase (with possible à la carte additions) right on S Colorado Blvd -- hidden in a strip mall where you might not expect such a gem. Wonderful service/people, great progressive menu and quality of fish, and delicious cocktails and sake!

I've only been to an Omakase once before and loved it -- but Sushi by SYC completely changed the game for me. This was easily one of the most luxurious yet approachable meals I've had in a long time, and honestly, one of my favorite dining experiences this year. The team at SYC goes above and beyond in every detail. From brown sugar flown in from Japan to the perfectly wet towels waiting at your place setting -- everything has a purpose, and it all comes together to create a meal that feels elevated but never pretentious. It's a 16-course experience that flows seamlessly from one incredible bite to the next. Every time I thought I'd found my favorite dish of the night, the next one arrived and somehow topped it. The cocktails were just as impressive -- both the Manhattan and Old Fashioned were perfectly balanced. And their house sake? Probably the best I've ever had. Whether you're celebrating something special, planning a date night, or just want to treat yourself to something unforgettable -- make the reservation. You'll leave obsessed.

I would give this a 4.5 stars if I could. I took my husband to Sushi by Syc for his birthday. They offer two reservation time slots, 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm. We had an 8:00 pm reservation and were seated immediately, but we didn't receive any food until around 8:30 pm and had to ask about it. We were served drinks before then, and once we mentioned it, the food came out quickly. It seemed like several parties from the earlier time slot were still dining, which likely caused the delay. I wouldn't have minded waiting, I just wish someone had communicated that to us. I ordered the 16-course omakase for $150, and overall the portions were very reasonable, with two pieces of sashimi and one nicely sized sushi per course. The rice was excellent and perfectly seasoned. What really stood out was how creative the flavor combinations were. Unlike many omakase spots that focus solely on the fish, Sushi by Syc pairs the fish with sauces and toppings like truffle, caviar, and yuzu cream. It was different from what I'm used to and absolutely fantastic. My favorite course was the toro with caviar. It was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I did find that the initial courses had a bit too much wasabi for my taste, but when I asked the chef to use less, he adjusted immediately and it was perfect afterward. My husband had two Old Fashioneds that he really enjoyed, along with a Manhattan and a Biscoff Flip. I ordered the matcha milk punch, which was light, refreshing, and well balanced. Dessert was a tofu cheesecake that was the perfect ending, light but still slightly rich. They also surprised my husband with a birthday cake, which was a very thoughtful personal touch. Our server was very kind and attentive, and I appreciated the little details, like the high-quality wet wipes and the beautiful plates each course was served on. Overall, the food, drinks, and service were excellent. A bit more communication around timing would have made the experience smoother, but we still had a wonderful time and a memorable birthday dinner.

What an incredible omakase experience. This is a top notch spot for any special occasion. It's a relatively intimate setting where you watch the chef prepare each dish while sitting around the counter. Each dish is bursting with flavor. I can't wait to go back!

Overall fantastic omakase experience. I wouldn't consider it top tier, but an enjoyable 5 star experience that surpasses plenty of michelin star restaurants that I've been to. The bar surrounding the prep area looks like it can accommodate up to 20 people. At the time of this review, they do two services: 5pm and 8pm. I love that they give all of their diners the same experience with the sushi bar setup. The ambiance, decor, and presentation were very nice. The plate upon which they place each individual nigiri throughout the omakase was a stunning Louis Vuitton plate. I'm not into fashion at all, but those beautiful plates were a real conversation piece for all the diners. The LV plates also made for fun jokes about taking them home. The non-nigiri dishes were plated beautifully and definitely accentuated the dining experience in a very positive way. Service struck a great balance of personal, professional, and friendly. Staff were attentive and participated in light banter. Waters were always filled, and there were nice little impromptu surprises throughout. Drinks were quite good. The mixed drink specialist here really knows her stuff. I was blown away by the coconut milk washed "froot loops" drink. I don't think it's on the menu, but I was impressed. Although we did not go for the sake pairing, a couple seated near us did. It looked amazing, and I was a little jelly, but the very generous portion of eight 3-oz pours was too much for me. I probably would have gone for half amount for half price. And finally, the SYC sake was not my favorite. Slight alcohol bitterness that I did not care for. Ingredient quality is quite high, but not the very top. But honestly, to get top ingredients, the meal price would probably have to double. Ingredients were seasonal, interesting, and prepared decently well. I love that they use real wasabi and grate it fresh. The nigiri was inconsistent. The main guy making nigiri is quite good. Another person would help make nigiri once in a while, and it's not as good. Sometimes the fish was served too cold, which numbed my taste buds for a few moments each time. When the better nigiri maker is making nigiri, I rate it 88/100. When the not-as-skilled nigiri maker is making nigiri, I rate it 81/100. Rice was packed too hard, and nigiri was made for everyone before distribution (it should be served the moment each piece is done). Desserts were perfect for rounding out the entire experience. We got a sort of tofu cheesecake dessert. It didn't sound great at first, but it was amazing. And the crown melon, which I've only tasted once before, was just about as sweet and juicy as I was hoping for. I got very excited when I saw that melon on the tasting menu. They are relatively new, as I write this review, so we'll see how it does after everything settles.

I saw, from the reviews, that to come here without a reservation, you want to come right when they open. We saw a wave of people start lining up and congregating as we were parking. Luckily, we made it in the first wave of people seated. We were offered the choice to sit inside/outside. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The drinks and food came out quickly. We ordered the sake and the sake mule. Both were good! We also got 2 pieces of nigiri from Japan and it was heavenly! Other items that piqued our interest were the tuna firecracker roll, a salmon roll, and another tuna roll. Everything tasted delicious, although I was surprised by the asparagus in my rolls. I don't know that that is my favorite! We had a great experience and would love to come back.

I was in Denver to visit my friend, and I was telling her how I really liked hand rolls and so she recommended this place and it did not disappoint. We got here during happy hour when at first opened and immediately there was already a line luckily we were early so we did get seated a few minutes after arriving, and we were served relatively quickly. We got to sit at the bar and we ordered off of the happy hour menu, which was great because it had more than enough of what I wanted to try. We got several hand rolls and several of their other appetizers, but my favorite has to be their hand rolls. Their seaweed was so crispy and rolled so nicely. The rice was flavorful and their fish was so fresh. I felt like their prices were also pretty reasonable and I was more than content after having that dinner. Overall, I would put this very much on par with a place called Kazunori in LA. I heard that this restaurant has a sister restaurant called sushi Den that I heard was really good and that I will be trying out next time I'm in town. Please come try out Tamaki done if you're ever in the area the food will not disappoint. The restaurant is big with plenty indoor seating, but it will get packed and for good reasons because the food is so good!

We thought we made a mistake choosing sushi bar instead of a table because we'll have back issues. Surprisingly, the chairs had a mini back so you could lean back occasionally. And we think our experience was better because the sushi chefs would explain the origin of the fish and all the ingredients they used into each roll and order. We also got a complimentary piece for sitting at the sushi bar which was a light fried yellow tail which was so good. Service is amazing. They're attentive and check in on you often. It does take some time to get your rolls but give its time to digest. From watching the sushi chefs at the bar, they're very precise in how they make each roll. Every roll has similar proportions from the slight wasabi they use to the amount of rice and fish. Everything that we had was amazing. The hamachi and salmon sashimi felt like butter. It just melts in your mouth. The aged toro was so delicious. Even the edamame was just so good. The unagi nigiri is some of the best I've had in the state (the nigri was better than the handroll and I think it's because I love unagi so I love the ratio in nigiri form). The Spicy Tuna Oshizushi was a surprising favorite of the night along with the Crème Fresh Salmon Belly. I could've done without the wagyu but it was good. Every order does come with only 1 so order based on the amount of people that are with your party. Some items we were unsure of like the wagyu so we ordered 1 and shared a bite. Overall, I understand the hype and the reservations. But it was worth it and I'm surprised we can get high quality fish in a landlock state. Of the high end sushi restaurants in CO, Temaki Den is probably my fave.

Everything was incredibly fresh, and you could tell the team puts real effort into balancing flavor while preserving the freshness of each ingredient in every dish. We also had a great conversation with Chef Christopher about the fish we love -- a really nice personal touch. Our only nitpick: the salt seasoning was a touch too strong on a few dishes.
