Whether it's eating in, picking up, or ordering via DoorDash this place is absolutely incredible. I grew up going to the location in castle rock, and when I found out there was another one closer to where I live now I was so happy. The food is amazing and always hits the spot. It's one of the few things I'll reallllly slow down to eat because the flavor is remarkable. Their eel is the best I've ever had, and whenever I go to another sushi place I have the eel, and joke around with myself, "Will this eel beat the eel at Sawara?" And it never does. I would assume maybe everyone loves this place because it's very affordable but unfortunately every bite I had was chewy which sushi should never be it should melt in your mouth. If I could rate more than 5 stars, I would! I visited with my husband during the soft opening for lunch on a Saturday. There was only one other group in the restaurant. Staff were very friendly and wearing masks. Hand sanitizer was available. The man who seated us explained the menu and offered recommendations (do yourself a favor and order Hello Venus!). Don't get me wrong, I love Sushi Den and Uchi for high end special occasions, but for an affordable sushi experience there is no other. The miso soup is among the best I've ever had. I'm always feel a little bad because I'm not super into Sushi but my husband loves it, and Sawara was great for both the Sushi newbie and someone who is more experienced. First off, their menu is expensive but remarkably descriptive and helpful. It tells you which rolls are spicy, which take longer to prepare, what is cooked and raw, how many pieces are in each, and then break down what is inside and on top of each roll. The pricing is also very good, with specials and options that can fill up someone who isn't as into Sushi. I ordered one special roll and the teriyaki salmon bowl, both were delivered quickly and everything was filling and exactly as described. I loved the taste of my roll, which had a lot of elements and was very fresh. My husband ordered 2 salmon rolls and a dynamite roll. The dynamite roll was great (the sauces were perfect), but one of the salmon rolls was a bit chewy. He actually left one of the pieces on the plate as the texture was less than ideal, but I'm only knocking one star off because everything else was perfect.
