I routed myself here on a whim coming home from errands knowing I did jot have anything at home to eat. Got seated at the sushi bar and started with a bowl of miso soup. As an appetizer I ordered the mini pork soup dimpling which had a strong sesame flavor. Thankfully I love sesame, but it could be overpowering for somebody else. For my rolls I got the eel avocado roll and the cherry creek roll. I enjoyed both but in the future I would try another specialty roll rather than the Cherry Creek. I was welcomed on arrival and was served by Peter. I chose one of their 6 specials, Shrimp Dumplings. It took 10 min and was served correctly in a double bamboo basket. Very good. The dipping sauce was light. While I was waiting, I got a glass of Blossom of Peace plum wine. Next was the Avocado salad. A large sliced avocado on a bed of spring mix with a peanut dressing. Next was the Sashimi & Sushi platter. I got 12 pieces of sashimi and a spicy tuna roll plus plenty of ginger & wasabi. I asked and got Tamari instead of using soy sauce. Right away the staff was phenomenal. So welcoming. Our waitress Christina was so attentive & helpful. Alex also came by and refilled my sake as they served my sushi which was so kind. The chefs were awesome and made good convo. I got the avocado roll and veggie roll on soy paper with extra crunchies which was amazing. My husband got the sushi plate & loved it however the star of the show was his Cherry Creek Roll. It's been two weeks since we were there and he's still talking about that roll. This is a hidden gem! It's a small restaurant right next to a liquor store it's pretty easy to pass if you're not on the lookout. The staff were attentive and friendly. We got sat immediately. I got the sashimi plate and my friend got the chicken and beef hibachi and the spider roll. Everything was amazing! The fish was super fresh and had great quality. The slices were thick! This sushi spot is an easy 10/10! The area is beautiful, and everyone we encountered was so polite and respectful. The food was absolutely amazing. I was honestly surprised coming from California, but it exceeded my expectations. Parking isn't the best, but that's more about the area itself than the restaurant. Christina was our server, and she was truly wonderful, so kind, professional, and honestly one of the prettiest, most glowing people I've met in the industry. I'm rounding up to 4 stars here because the staff was nice and the food was good. However, there was nothing that stood out as great about the experience, and nothing that made Taki stand out above other area sushi restaurants. If you live nearby, this would be a good neighborhood spot for a sushi night. But if you don't live nearby (and I don't), we didn't experience anything that would make us choose Taki rather than other sushi restaurants. Nothing at all was wrong with the meal, but nothing stood out either. We ordered calamari as an appetizer, which was huge and nicely chewy. And edamame, which was ordinary and as-expected. The rest of the meal comprised nigiri ordered as individual items, a dragon roll, and a salmon skin hand roll. And a large bottle of dry saki, which was just fine but not exceptional. Nothing bad, but nothing that stood out as particularly noteworthy either. The service was good and attentive, and the ambience was much better on the inside than I expected, given the outside of the restaurant and the surrounding street corner. Parking was difficult on a Tuesday, but we found a spot on the street two blocks away. I'd expect weekends to be pretty much impossible. But again, for a neighborhood spot in walking distance, this is a fine place to go. It's just not got anything that would cause me to drive there again. Met some friends here per their recommendation for dinner this weekend. Parking was a little tough - a busier/more popular area. But I did eventually find a spot down the road. My friends said we should get there before 6 to make use of the happy hour specials - was more than happy with my glass of wine for $5.50 (and it was good!) I would have preferred prosecco but they only sell that in bottles. We all ordered a mix of sushi (though we weren't actually sharing) and it came out all on one dish but they clearly pointed out which was which. I ordered the spicy tuna, spicy scallop and spicy shrimp. None of them were spicy - definitely need to add some of that spicy roe on top or something to add a kick cause the kick was definitely not there. The flavors were really good - I enjoyed the scallop and shrimp rolls quite a bit. Around 6:30/7 the place got completely packed so coming on the earlier side is probably a good call as it is not a massive place. The staff was friendly and came over frequently to refill our water glasses and see if we need anything else. Our waitress had even asked if I wanted a drink before the happy hour ended at 6 which I appreciated. Overall fairly happy with the drinks, meal and service, just wanted a little more heat to the spicy rolls. I would come back though - very reasonable prices. read more

Taki Sushi is a gem in Washington Park. Our kids live in the area and frequent this place, and wanted to take us there while we were visiting from Cincinnati. It will now be a regular go-to when we visit! The staff is very friendly and our server, Art, was great. It's too bright inside, and could do with some toning-down and warming-up the lighting. For appetizers we ordered the kid's favorite; Garlic Broccoli. It was cooked perfectly and we asked for the extra sauce to be put in a cup to dip into the rest of the dinner because it was that good. We also had the Cucumber Sashimi off the appetizer menu. It was extremely fresh tasting and the cucumber was the perfect compliment to the tuna. The Yellowtail Jalapeño Hamachi was fabulous. I cut up one ring of jalapeño per bite of cod and it was perfect. And I never miss a chance to order Miso Black Cod if it's on a menu. This version was executed perfectly and presented with nicely cooked asparagus. We followed up with four different sushi rolls. Every single one was so fresh and delicious. The sake and the Rose wine were both delightful as well. Two other great aspects of this place is that they are open till 10pm and reasonably priced! I was hoping for more heat from the former, but it's easy to see why it's a popular choice. The latter I may have actually enjoyed more, with big chunks of tuna draping the roll. I'm no sushi rolling expert, however it appeared these could have been rolled more tightly. Gently picking up certain pieces fell apart almost immediately, which could get annoying when you're sharing a giant place of sushi with multiple people. After reading some reviews and ordering from Taki, the answer is a resounding "Yes!". I found my new place. I was starving and feeling gluttonous, so I ordered a bunch of items. I got two rolls: the Spicy Lobster & New York; two hand rolls: Yellowtail & Spicy Blue Crab; and four pieces of nigiri/sashimi: Spicy Scallop, Salmon Roe, Eel & Escolar. That proved to be a ton of food. The hand rolls were packed full and were quite tasty. The sushi rolls were well-balanced in terms of ingredients, and very substantive (these are not skimpy rolls). All of the nigiri/sashimi style sushi was fresh and expertly presented. The price was reasonable, and the delivery was super quick, particularly for a Saturday night. Driving by, I thought it was a small restaurant and didn't like that it was street parking only, but my sister says this is normal for Denver. Upon walking into the restaurant, we were immediately greeted and there was little wait to be seated. The service was quick and very friendly. We enjoyed everything we ordered. Appetizers: Calamari was served with katsu sauce, which was different for me but everyone else at the table liked it. Kani cucumber salad was fantastic. I loved the flavor, spice, and masago. Gyoza was perfectly crisp and juicy. Main course: We ordered a lot of sushi. My favorite probably Pearl Roll (fried oyster, spicy salmon, and avocado). I was told the sashimi was fresh and delicious. My step-daughter insisted on having chicken hibachi. It was a generous portion and she liked it. Not a typical hibachi. Seemed more like a saucy stir fry. The yaki udon and chicken katsu was good. We decided to try Taki tonight for takeout. Absolutely fantastic decision, as its by far the best sushi we've had since moving to Denver last year. The pickup process was very smooth and the food packaged well. The lady working the counter was very nice and the process was very covid friendly. We ordered a smattering of rolls, seaweed salad, agadashi tofu, and the miso black cod. The cod was quite large and very good, cooked well. the agadashi and seaweed salad were also solid. But most impressive was the quantity and quality of the sushi. We all have very large appetites and ordered the qty of rolls we normally would but the amount of sushi we got left us all stuffed. The standard $5-6 rolls were massive and the special rolls were very hefty as well. The quality of the sushi was top notch. The rice nice and soft and the fish very fresh. The tuna wasn't that lackluster pink watermelon color but instead a rich beet red, with a nice fattiness. It was really superb. The salmon was also very good. And the tobiko was beautiful. We decided to go out and try a new-to-us spot and we decided on Taki. It's a small place and there is no parking from what we could tell. So if you decide to come try it, be prepared to park in the neighborhood - you can't park in the liquor store parking lot. We came in and a lovely woman greeted us and sat us down. The atmosphere is great though. It really feels like one of those little sushi places in Japan. Our waiter brought us water as we dove into the menu. We decided on the Chicken Katsu, Chicken Yaki Soba, Dragon Roll, Mango Roll, and the Salmon Skin Roll. Chicken Katsu came out first. It was fried perfectly and was insanely tender. The sauce was great and the rice was not perfectly sticky. Next came the Chicken Yaki Soba. It was a bit different than what I'm used to having, but different is not always bad - because this was so good. There was so much more flavor in this one than any other yaki soba I've ever had. Sauce was great, noodles were great, the veggies cooked to perfection. Next up came our sushi. By this point we realized we made a mistake. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. I tried one of each of the rolls we decided to get and was not disappointed. They were great. My girlfriend had the rest as a midnight snack. We also tried two different kinds of hot sake, plum, and some different one that I cannot remember. Both really good. Our server was so friendly and the staff in general is really kind and courteous.
