We were a party of eight celebrating my daughter's birthday, and although we let the staff know in advance, it was never acknowledged. Our meals came out over the course of about 15 minutes, making for an awkward dining experience as we waited for everyone to be served before eating. First time visit and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere inside was very clean and well decorated which was very nice. They have a Patio area that would been very enjoyable; however, it snowed the day before so not perfect for outside dining but would have if weather was better. Our server was very helpful and provided positive suggestions and was very honest about certain items we were inquiring about. We had the regular side salad which was perfect with a great dressing. The sushi rolls we ordered were the rainbow and sunset. Each had eight generous portions. We slo had some deep fried mushrooms off the happy hour menu. We also had a small portion of the snow crab roll which was two but a good size amount of crab legs. Fantastic sushi. Really love the more traditional serving style, minimal "American" rolls (no cream cheese, fried, covered in sauce etc) which adds to the authentic flavor and feel. Super vibey spot, staff is attentive and hospitable. Our spread: spicy tuna crispy rice, Friday the 13th roll, rivers and streams roll, miso soup, king salmon nigiri and avocado nigiri, and the sweet ginger pot de creme (say that 5x). Everything was extraordinary tasty and fresh. The king salmon was like butter, I could've eaten at least 12 of them. Pot de crème was similar to a creme brulee, the toasted macadamia nuts were so good and added some great depth. 10/5 for taste and presentation of food. I would say 4.5 stars, taking away half a star because they didn't have any Wagyu and our waiter informed us that some equipment in the back was broken, and they keep saying it'll get fixed in a few days but hasn't. First time at Bamboo Sushi and I really enjoyed most of the experience. It had a very chill ambiance inside and the staff were all friendly and accommodating. I will say it's in a busy area of town, so parking may be very frustrating in LoHi. For starters we got the edamame, spicy tuna crispy rice and spicy tuna hand rolls. All were great but the crispy rice was out of this world, definitely want to go back and try their other selections. Also got the table side fresh grated wasabi which had an excellent flavor to it. We got 3 rolls- The Friday the 13th roll, the Green Machine, and the Hoki Poki Box. The first two rolls mentioned were heavy dosed in sauce, which kind of killed the vibes but still had some decent flavor. The Hoki Poke Box was the star of the show, it was soooo good. Next time I go back to Bamboo, I'm going to either ask for less sauce on top of the rolls, or do some more research and choose rolls that are not drenched in sauce. I want to taste more sushi flavors going to a sushi restaurant personally. Something random but I'm still thinking about the hand soap in the bathrooms, too. I'm a spicy tuna crispy rice FAN so I had to order it when I saw it on the menu and it might've been the most solid one I've tried. The rice is indeed crispy and the spicy tuna is delicious and has a small kick to it My boyfriend ordered the Full Circle Roll and Green Machine Roll. I ordered the Friday the 13th roll. The full circle roll was honestly so good and unique. I really loved the crispy texture along with the watercress which made it so tasty. The green machine had this green sauce that was OUTSTANDING. It really made me say wow out loud. A roll that I will definitely get again. It is vegetarian but I'm sure you can ask for fish in it. The Friday the 13th roll was good! I liked it but wasn't anything too special. I think I would pass next time and try something new. We also got the Crispy Garlic Tofu and again, WOW. So flavorful and the texture was spot on. It's hard to find good tofu sometimes but this was great - and the sauce, chefs kiss. It's in LoHi and great area to walk around if you're looking for a good place to eat! Came here as a foursome and made a reservation the same day just a few hours in advance on a Sunday evening. The place is really cute, classy clean decor that matches the Japanese aesthetic. We were waiting for the other two in our party to show up, our server was honestly giving a bit of attitude, i won't air him out on here even though he did say his name. We were starving and he didn't even give us the opportunity to order anything, just said he would come back when the rest of our party arrived. We ended up flagging him down again to order something to hold us over. Throughout the meal he didn't come back to check on us, i got his attention to ask for some spicy Mayo and he dropped it with an attitude. Truly, I hate giving out bad reviews. But, we've been here 3 times and truly the sushi just isn't good. I eat a lot of sushi and every time we've come here, the fish tastes just okay. We got 2 rolls, 2 crispy rice and salmon nigiri. The salmon nigiri is ALWAYS our favorite and we didn't finish them. Also I got the king crab nigiri and it was pretty fishy... It's been a long time since I've been to Bamboo Sushi and I wondered why I haven't written a review! Some details may be a bit fuzzy but I do remember how I felt that cold December night and how there were a good amount of people there when we showed up. The first thing I always remember is how the restaurant's environment made me feel and how we were treated. The interior felt traditional yet modern to many izakayas found in Japan. Waitstaff was certainly top notch and it was such a joy to be welcomed to dine. The next things on the list are food. I remember the chicken karaage-like bao. didn't care for the mint all too much but the rest of the dish was good. We also tried some Asian-Fusion type rolls that also did really well. Even the traditional nigiri was cut masterfully and tasted great! Have a look at the pictures for a better idea of what they offer. They place has a nice atmosphere (patio seating available) and looks very clean. Our server Jorge was awesome. We asked for recommendations, and he gave us some really good ones. To drink I went for their version of the Old Fashion. To eat I had some miso soup (delicious), and and avocado and cucumber roll, and for dessert a super delicious matcha pana cotta. Finding quality sushi rolls has been hard coming from the east coast. There are some good omakase spots in Denver but I'm so glad I found Bamboo because I needed some variety! The ingredients are high quality and there are tons of great rolls to choose from. Sometimes less is more, and they're good about letting the flavor combos speak for themselves rather than overloading with sauce and cream cheese (IYKYK). Great date spot and the bar has been pretty open every time I've visited. Servers are really nice and the mood is intimate enough that it could be a girly date with your friends or something more romantic for a special occasion. The only weird thing is that if you make a reservation they do limit your sitting time. I would understand if this place was absolutely slammed, but it was an odd feeling to be rushed out at the end (chugging the rest of my sake) but also seeing open bar seats and tables. Bamboo was recommended to me by a friend with celiac disease, and wow, this restaurant did not disappoint! Almost everything on the menu is gluten free, with only one or two items that are not. (Usually, the reverse is true.) Furthermore, it was happy hour! We enjoyed hot sake and a range of dishes, including the seaweed salad, roasted maitake mushroom, and a number of different sushi rolls. Everything was high quality. We started with gomae - blanched spinach, sesame-soy dressing and ordered the Tomodachi platter that could serve 4-6 people, but we ate it all with just 3 and weren't stuffed. It included several hosomaki rolls (tuna, salmon, negihama), sashimi, nigiri, spicy tuna crispy rice, green machine roll, sunset roll, and garden of Eden. Overall the food was fresh and the mocktails were delicious. I ended my meal with green tea. During the end of the meal soy sauce was spilled by the waiter at a table next to me and it got all over the shoes and ankles. It went unacknowledged until I stated cleaning my leg the napkin. I am sort of mad that I live so close to this place and have never been over the years. Embarrassing, but better late than never. LOVE the setup. Great bar area with cool booths behind it. It then opens up into the sushi bar and plenty of indoor seating, which then opens up to a nice patio. We went there for happy hour at the bar, and the food was awesome and the deals were great. $6 Sapporo, $6 hot sake (for a larger container), $9 catch of the day (kama that day) $10 salmon tartare, and $9 for two hand rolls. We also had the crispy rice, and seconds of the hand rolls. For the fellow sports fans, go there for the food, but know that they had one bar tv and it was on sports. Chill music, and it strikes me as a fantastic date place. Nick was our bartender, he was helping out everywhere else too, and it was flawless service. You can definitely tell it is a true team work environment though. The catch of the day was delicious by itself, but some genius in the kitchen also figured out that eating the accompanying salad WITH the fish provided the perfect flavor. It was a well thought out plate. All of the food presentations were great, and the bar top was clean and organized, which makes us ex-bartenders extremely happy. Final bonus. My first visit to Bamboo Sushi won't be my last! We went on a busy Saturday night with lots of people at the bar and all tables taken, but our table was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. Our server, Kate, introduced herself and promptly took our order, as all four of us had decided on the Restaurant Week tasting menu. Within five minutes, the first two courses arrived: an amuse bouche of hamachi ceviche on a beet chip and a small wedge salad. Both were quite small, but the hamachi presentation was beautiful and they were both delicious. The next courses followed just as our plates were cleared. One plate featured four pieces of the Green Machine Roll, and three pieces of the Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice, while the other plate was Miso Salmon with Sweet Potato Mash and Charred Bok Choy. All three dishes were outstanding! Unfortunately, after finishing these courses, we experienced a long wait of about thirty minutes with no service. Eventually our plates were cleared and our dessert arrived: a small piece of Haupia pie for dessert. It was a small square bite with interesting combinations of coconut custard, chocolate ganache, macadamia nut crust and strawberry puree. It was an interesting mix of flavors and a perfect way to end the meal. However, we waited another for 30 minutes before receiving our bill. Luckily we weren't in a rush. Despite the slow service at the end, the food exceeded my expectations. I was initially concerned that the portions might be too small, but I left satified and eager to return.
