    Rainbow roll

First time visit and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere inside was very clean and well decorated which was very nice. They have a Patio area that would been very enjoyable; however, it snowed the day before so not perfect for outside dining but would have if weather was better. Our server was very helpful and provided positive suggestions and was very honest about certain items we were inquiring about. We had the regular side salad which was perfect with a great dressing. The sushi rolls we ordered were the rainbow and sunset. Each had eight generous portions. We slo had some deep fried mushrooms off the happy hour menu. We also had a small portion of the snow crab roll which was two but a good size amount of crab legs. Well worth the price and we will be back to try some other recommendations and sit on the patio.

Fantastic sushi. Really love the more traditional serving style, minimal "American" rolls (no cream cheese, fried, covered in sauce etc) which adds to the authentic flavor and feel. Super vibey spot, staff is attentive and hospitable. Our spread: spicy tuna crispy rice, Friday the 13th roll, rivers and streams roll, miso soup, king salmon nigiri and avocado nigiri, and the sweet ginger pot de creme (say that 5x). Everything was extraordinary tasty and fresh. The king salmon was like butter, I could've eaten at least 12 of them. Pot de crème was similar to a creme brulee, the toasted macadamia nuts were so good and added some great depth. 10/5 for taste and presentation of food. I would say 4.5 stars, taking away half a star because they didn't have any Wagyu and our waiter informed us that some equipment in the back was broken, and they keep saying it'll get fixed in a few days but hasn't. A little bummed because that burger sounded so delish.

Friday The 13th roll/Hoki Poki Box roll

First time at Bamboo Sushi and I really enjoyed most of the experience. It had a very chill ambiance inside and the staff were all friendly and accommodating. I will say it's in a busy area of town, so parking may be very frustrating in LoHi. For starters we got the edamame, spicy tuna crispy rice and spicy tuna hand rolls. All were great but the crispy rice was out of this world, definitely want to go back and try their other selections. Also got the table side fresh grated wasabi which had an excellent flavor to it. We got 3 rolls- The Friday the 13th roll, the Green Machine, and the Hoki Poki Box. The first two rolls mentioned were heavy dosed in sauce, which kind of killed the vibes but still had some decent flavor. The Hoki Poke Box was the star of the show, it was soooo good. Next time I go back to Bamboo, I'm going to either ask for less sauce on top of the rolls, or do some more research and choose rolls that are not drenched in sauce. I want to taste more sushi flavors going to a sushi restaurant personally. Something random but I'm still thinking about the hand soap in the bathrooms, too. Smelt so nice and we are considering getting some for the house as well.

My husband and I shared: - Sparkling Yuzu Lemonade - Spicy Salmon Tartare - Spicy Tuna Crispy Rice - Garden of Eden Roll - Friday The 13th Roll - Green Machine Roll with Salmon I really enjoyed everything we ordered. The Green Machine roll was my favorite and you can never go wrong with crispy rice. The only downside was that they were out of several things we wanted to order which was disappointing. I would happily go back though!

Bamboo sushi is one of our favs for sushi but this review is for the service! Our server Jorge (I think) was not friendly, rushed us and was borderline rude. I didn't feel comfortable as he kept peeking while I was paying the check and adding gratuity - it made the experience unpleasant. The host was sweet and friendly. We have always had a good experience at bamboo sushi and I am disappointed at my most recent experience here.

    Friday the 13th Roll

I am always a sucker for trying new restaurants especially sushi. So when I noticed Bamboo was a place nearby, I had to try it! We came on a Tuesday night and it was quite busy! We didn't have a reservation but they took us quickly to table. It was a beautiful evening so we decided to sit on the patio which is very spacious. We got a lot to share but there were a few items that really stood out. I'm a spicy tuna crispy rice FAN so I had to order it when I saw it on the menu and it might've been the most solid one I've tried. The rice is indeed crispy and the spicy tuna is delicious and has a small kick to it My boyfriend ordered the Full Circle Roll and Green Machine Roll. I ordered the Friday the 13th roll. The full circle roll was honestly so good and unique. I really loved the crispy texture along with the watercress which made it so tasty. The green machine had this green sauce that was OUTSTANDING. It really made me say wow out loud. A roll that I will definitely get again. It is vegetarian but I'm sure you can ask for fish in it. The Friday the 13th roll was good! I liked it but wasn't anything too special. I think I would pass next time and try something new. We also got the Crispy Garlic Tofu and again, WOW. So flavorful and the texture was spot on. It's hard to find good tofu sometimes but this was great - and the sauce, chefs kiss. It's in LoHi and great area to walk around if you're looking for a good place to eat! Can't wait to come back and eat some more delicious sushi and tofu.

Came here as a foursome and made a reservation the same day just a few hours in advance on a Sunday evening. The place is really cute, classy clean decor that matches the Japanese aesthetic. We were waiting for the other two in our party to show up, our server was honestly giving a bit of attitude, i won't air him out on here even though he did say his name. We were starving and he didn't even give us the opportunity to order anything, just said he would come back when the rest of our party arrived. We ended up flagging him down again to order something to hold us over. Throughout the meal he didn't come back to check on us, i got his attention to ask for some spicy Mayo and he dropped it with an attitude. The food was pretty good though, loved the rolls, we had the green machine, the Friday the 13th, and a salmon crispy rice. Green machine is really good & unique, the sauce is yummy. The Friday roll tastes so fresh, the fish smells good and is delicious. The crispy rice wasn't my favorite ever but not bad. Thanks for having us. will come back and try more rolls and hopefully sit with someone else!

I ordered some sushi and tuna poke for a delivery and the serving size is ridiculous, i could count the very few tuna pieces in the poke. Taste good but presentation and serving size not worthy the money.

Delicious! The food was great, we did the setto and it was enough for 3 of us to split. The best roll is the green machine, the sauce on that roll is FANTASTIC! The service and ambiance were good. We'd definitely come back!

We happened upon this place as we had met one of the sushi chefs and he told us to come by. We are happy we did. We sat at the bar and enjoyed very pleasant HH bites and a very well made martini. We will come back as we studied the menu and see there are many items we would come back for.

Good overall experience. We sat at the sushi bar (we did not have a reservation) and we had enough space. The place was a bit loud. We split the crispy rice with spicy tuna which was amazing! We also got the Friday the 13th roll which was really good and also the Sunset roll, very good too. The service was decent. If you need a solid spot to go to, this is it. Not the most memorable.

Our first time here and it was really good. We ordered several dishes and all shared. The price wasn't bad for everything we ordered either. My favorites would have to be the fish in a type of yuzu sauce and the breaded cauliflower. Their sushi was pretty good as well. We sat outdoors which was pleasant and our server was very kind and had good recommendations. I would probably come back to try more.

Truly, I hate giving out bad reviews. But, we've been here 3 times and truly the sushi just isn't good. I eat a lot of sushi and every time we've come here, the fish tastes just okay. We got 2 rolls, 2 crispy rice and salmon nigiri. The salmon nigiri is ALWAYS our favorite and we didn't finish them. Also I got the king crab nigiri and it was pretty fishy... I really don't have much else or bad things to say. Service is good and the crispy sushi rice was flavorful, although the texture of rice itself is kinda like a stale French fry. The place itself is vibey, and the menu is good. Maybe we've just continuously ordered the wrong thing? It has good ratings elsewhere so maybe I'm just missing something...

You won't find fancy sushi here or fusion cooking here, but rather tasty home cooked style classic Japanese dishes. Dishes like Japanese curry, oyakodon, and other donburi and noodle dishes. Having been here multiple times, I cannot recommend this place enough for a homey style meal. No joke, each meal here makes you feel warm inside, like a good home cooked meal. It's comparable to many meals I've had traveling through out real Japan. The flavors are simple, but each dish is well prepared while emphasizing conform over fancy preparation. You just cannot go wrong with any dish here, though I'm partial to the donburi, the green tea soba, and the hot pot. And if the meal is not enough, there is a beautiful garden to enjoy. If you catch it at the right time, the cherry blossom in the spring is beautiful and transport you right to Japan. Overall, Domo is a place that I'm always down to visit. It's warm, comfy, and nostalgic, and I just know I'll miss it when it's gone.

We started with the cucumber salad and shrimp shumai. The cucumber salad was refreshing, but the shrimp shumai had a strong fishy smell and taste that didn't seem very fresh--I couldn't eat more than one. For my entrée, I ordered the nabeyaki soup with ramen noodles and chicken, and it was excellent. The soy-based broth was rich and flavorful without being too salty, and the ramen noodles were cooked perfectly--tender with just the right amount of bite. Overall, Domo offers a really special atmosphere and a memorable dining experience. I wouldn't recommend the shrimp shumai, but I'd definitely come back to try another ramen flavor, and to see the cats again.

I would highly recommend other seasonal dishes as well, such as the coconut swordfish or chicken katsu parm. However, one of my absolute favorite dish here is the ochazuke. It's basically grilled fish over rice in a warm green tea dashi. It's so comforting, especially on a cold night, and a dish that I return to time and time again. Overall, Kawa Ni is an amazing japanese restaurant. Come for the food and just make sure you get a sake bomb and ask for the gong when you do.

It's disappointing because the food is solid, but the pacing and service make it hard to come back.

Uchi is dangerous for people like me…read more Not because of the raw fish. Because the place understands seduction. I've been eating at Uchi since it opened in Denver and today it still carries that same intoxicating balance of precision, warmth, swagger, and restraint. The room itself glows instead of shouts. Wood slats divide the dining room into little private theaters while the sushi counter hums with focused choreography. Expert hands moving constantly. Rice. Fish. Quiet communication. Tiny acts of discipline repeated hundreds of times a night. I sat down intending to have a civilized happy hour. That plan lasted maybe twelve minutes. The kurodai crudo arrived first. Gooseberry, leche de tigre, candied garlic. Bright, sharp, and alive. This is the kind of starter that wakes up your entire palate and you are reminded that you will absolutely be spending more money than originally intended. Next was the bincho temaki: cool albacore, kimchi, avocado, and a vividly garish orange sauce with some heat to keep the richness from becoming too much. Uchi understands something many restaurants don't: luxuriousness needs balance. Fatty fish without acid, spice, crunch, or brightness is palate exhaustion. And then one after another the deliciousness continued: the oysters were cold and perfect with cucumber, calamansi vinegar, and umeboshi. The day boat scallop nigiri nearly stopped time altogether. Just sweet scallops, rice, citrus, a little finishing salt. Incréable. Or whatever the French word is for "I briefly forgot my own name." And somewhere during martini number one, the staff adopted me. Apparently Uchi keeps notes on guests. Mine, I was told, says I'm "nice and a good eater," which may be the most flattering thing anyone has said to me in months. Suddenly more dishes started appearing. Gifted nigiri. Ikura glowing like little amber jewels (my favorite). A ridiculous and completely delicious carrot toro maki with green chili crunch and enough heat underneath the richness to make the whole thing flirt openly with your mouth. At one point the bartenders literally invented a "walu walu shot" on the fly just because the mood had drifted into improvisational chaos. This was somewhere between oyster shooter, seafood dare, and excellent bad decisions. Meanwhile, the guests next to me started talking to me and the entire energy of the evening shifted into communal sushi-bar joy. Suddenly we were all reacting to dishes, laughing, comparing bites, participating in the same ecosystem of salt, fish, alcohol, and temporary human connection. This is the real thing Uchi sells. Not merely sushi. Attention. Rhythm. Atmosphere. Memory. The feeling of being folded into a beautifully functioning machine dedicated entirely to pleasure. And yes, by the end I was emotional enough to remember being 20 years old eating sushi with an older woman named Alana who wore real fur and introduced me to this whole sensual adult world in the first place. That is what a martini and exceptional nigiri will do to a man. The final bill before tip was somehow only $141, which honestly feels mathematically impossible considering I briefly entered a spiritual relationship with the sushi counter. I tipped $50 because at that point we were basically family. Uchi remains one of the sexiest restaurants in Denver. Not performatively sexy. Not influencer sexy. Actually sexy. Confident. Observant. Generous. Precise. And just dangerous enough to make you order one more thing. Amazing dining experience.

Ototo used to be one of my top recommended restaurants to friends and people visiting Denver. It's…read morean easy reservation. The food is good. In general, it's been a laid back, go-to place to get a meal that will be much better than average for the price. I've been many times since before and after COVID, and it was one of my favorite repeatable spots in Denver. However, the crew totally dropped the ball with our visit today. My wife ordered a tonkatsu ramen and got a chicken tonkatsu set instead (chicken cutlet, not bowl of ramen). To not make it weird, we just let that one be for the greater good of the table because it was our anniversary, grandparents were visiting, and we are here often. Our hamachi kama (one of my favorite dishes in the entire city, normally something I'd highly recommend on this review) was never sent to the kitchen, leaving us waiting for over an hour with two young kids at the table who had finished 40 minutes before. I watched the staff's confusion from my seat, even after we had been told that it was on its way. It was never even started, and it was obvious. That stuff happens, but it's hard to hide what happened in an open kitchen where you can hear what people are saying. But then after they had the "oh crap" moment, it wasn't even expedited. It was gonna take so long that it wasn't worth getting, so two people had to leave our not-busy lunch without getting the main thing we brought them to Ototo for. We were asked to wait for the dish, waited 15 more minutes, and it was not even close to ready. And while I appreciated the apology, the manager initially just tried to "take the dish off the bill," a dish we never received. So he basically tried to do nothing because no restaurant would charge for something that never came out. After I pointed this out, they took off part of the check, but that attempt at nothing under the guise of a comp was crazy. I've easily spent thousands at Ototo over the years. I've sent tons of people to Kizaki, Temaki Den, and the others. This will probably be the last time I go to Ototo. If you read some of the recent bad reviews, something is not working here anymore. I hope the otherwise amazing service at the other Dens can find its way back to Ototo.

We thought we made a mistake choosing sushi bar instead of a table because we'll have back issues. Surprisingly, the chairs had a mini back so you could lean back occasionally. And we think our experience was better because the sushi chefs would explain the origin of the fish and all the ingredients they used into each roll and order. We also got a complimentary piece for sitting at the sushi bar which was a light fried yellow tail which was so good. Service is amazing. They're attentive and check in on you often. It does take some time to get your rolls but give its time to digest. From watching the sushi chefs at the bar, they're very precise in how they make each roll. Every roll has similar proportions from the slight wasabi they use to the amount of rice and fish. Everything that we had was amazing. The hamachi and salmon sashimi felt like butter. It just melts in your mouth. The aged toro was so delicious. Even the edamame was just so good. The unagi nigiri is some of the best I've had in the state (the nigri was better than the handroll and I think it's because I love unagi so I love the ratio in nigiri form). The Spicy Tuna Oshizushi was a surprising favorite of the night along with the Crème Fresh Salmon Belly. I could've done without the wagyu but it was good. Every order does come with only 1 so order based on the amount of people that are with your party. Some items we were unsure of like the wagyu so we ordered 1 and shared a bite. Overall, I understand the hype and the reservations. But it was worth it and I'm surprised we can get high quality fish in a landlock state. Of the high end sushi restaurants in CO, Temaki Den is probably my fave.
