Amazing experience!! Loved sitting at the chefs counter and watching the sushi be made. The crispy tuna rice is a death row meal for me. Especially enjoyed the lychee margarita and the scallop nigiri. This is a great special occasion spot. It's a darker ambiance.

Teriyaki Chicken

The teriyaki chicken plate was not traditional. Nicely presented but unfortunately I enjoy the flavor of the salad or the dressing on the potato. I found the chicken to have too much fat. Stick to the sea food menu... the restaurant was busy and people looked pleased. The restaurant interior is beautiful!

second time here, went in with high expectations from the first visit, did not disappoint! our server was very enthusiastic and helpful when we asked for recommendations. all of the sushi was exceptionally high quality as always. we also tried the yakitori, which was quite nice as well. we were seated inside this time, and it has a very nice atmosphere. i rarely mention this in reviews too but the bathroom was very clean! my only nitpick is that the salmon skin roll took a bit long to come out, but it at least wasnt forgotten about. i do still think the price is justifiable given the sheer quality of the fish and the lovely experience that comes with dining here. very grateful this place exists :)

This is always a very service oriented experience from the moment you arrive until you walk out the door, stuffed with delicious Japanese cuisine. Crispy rice with spicy tuna is delicious. All four rolls were just what we wanted. Great flavor. Freshly made. They all arrived one right after the other. The pineapple upside down cake was exceptionally good. Tangy and sweet flavors on a delicious sponge cake. $180 for two out the door. Definitely a treat for a Friday lunch but well worth it. The restaurant is huge and always full. I recommend reservations. Plenty of seating for groups from 2 up and there is an outside patio. The interior of the restaurant is well appointed bring ca for the meal. Parking garage near by and limited street parking.

WOW!!!! I will be dreaming about this place for the next few days... The toro was the star of the show for me, osaka style salmon right after it. My friend and I sat at the sushi bar and our sushi chef was amazing. Make sure to slide your chef a tip as well if you sit there!!! Our server was also great, service was just impeccable. Love the vibe of this place, 10/10 no notes.

We came back again, of course! I actually forgot to get a reso but last night made a reso for Izakaya an then called Sushi Den today to ask if I could switch to the Sushi Den side and they allowed it. Mostly bc we come so early haha. The ambiance on the sushi den side is way more my vibe than the izakaya side. We got our usual: - miso soup - hot tea - uni with quail egg (twice this time) - toro - amaebi - aburi hotate - barracuda - wild king salmon Everything above as usual was great. We also tried a few new items: - egg rolls... while really good, we likely won't order again. Only because the gyoza and lobster tempura are better. - Tsumu Buri... this was tender but bland. Wouldn't order again. - Tamame, this was soft and delicious with nice flavor. Would order this again. Not sure when we'll be back, we'll be trying other sushi spots next month.

Excellent. Now I'm my top 2 along with temaki den. Unique menu, high quality fish and excellent craftsmanship. Server was also very knowledgeable and accommodating to get us some off menu items

Dinner for 12

It's excellent - and I am not a sushi person! We had a group of 12 in the back room on the second floor. Service and drinks were amazing and my sushi loving friends said it was the best they have ever had - anywhere in the world. I will let them debuts that, but the steak/rib/chicken dishes were fab! So was the Japanese whisky....

My review is for the annual Sushi Den Rooftop Party Fundraiser, which is amazing! This once a year event is very special and was created to assist the prefecture of Japan that was ravaged by an earthquake and tsunami years ago. Now, it gives much needed funding to local agencies to support our community. Thank you to Sushi Den and Yasu-san for creating this wonderful event to give back in our community, the annual Sushi Den Rooftop Party Fundraiser! This is my 3rd year to be a part of it. It's a high energy evening of incredible culinary delights produced by the 30 chefs flown in from Japan with a live band, sake and spirits from various regions of Japan, and usually unbelievable weather. My favorite thing is getting to work with the chefs and to welcome them to the U.S. for this event. They are so excited and fun to meet! It takes a big team of volunteers to make it all work and I was proud to be part of Yasu-san's "fixer" team to oversee operations. Supporting We Don't Waste, Sushi Den raised money for the organization to help local food banks while reducing culinary/restaurant waste, getting perfectly good food in the hands of those who need it most. Giving back can be delicious! Hope to see you there next year!

I've been here twice and both times the sushi was just phenomenal and server recommendations are spot on every time. Favs are Mandarin yellowtail, New Style Roll & Rainbow Roll

Ambiance - super busy on a Sunday night Service - exceptional, our server was super nice, attentive Food - my group committed to omakase (note: omakase in Denver is a little different - they will ask you what your preference, what cuts you would like to see, what price point you are looking at), fish quality was overall fresh I cannot wait to be back !

House Salad
Roben B.

Food: A solid spot in the Denver area to get sushi. The fish quality is good for imported fish, but would not be considered superb against fish that had a shorter transit time. Specifically the Negitoro and King Salmon were okay, but the soft shell crab roll and yellow tail were delicious. Service: Absolutely stellar service in their part! Our server did a great job explaining the most popular dishes and specials of the day. Our chef also did an amazing job keeping an eye on our eating pace and serving us when he knew we were ready similar to an Omakase experience. We were too full to order dessert and he still offered us a nice chilled orange at the end of our meal. Very refreshing. Ambiance: This place was very popular. We came right at opening at within 20 minutes the reservations flooded this large and trendy restaurant. The inside has an upscale American sushi vibe despite all the Asian inspired decor. Parking can be a little be difficult if you come late, but if you're craving sushi in Denver the selections here might surprise you.

House Salad.
Kai L.

Located at a busy part of downtown Denver, we decided to valet since Yelpers said parking is a hassle. Front was minimalist with a huge front door and discrete sign imprinted on concrete wall. Inside was vibrant and hustling. Sushi bar on one side, next to the bar bar. The place is a lot larger than it appears from the outside since it runs deep. The House Salad and Rolls were just okay, nothing to write home about. Almost wished they did something to spruce things up and make it a little special. Their specialty is how fresh and tasty their fish is. That Toro, Salmon, and Hamachi were all delicious, so fresh and tasty. Their Sashimi is all amazing. This would be a great place to do a Omakase with a focus on their fresh fish. Our server Shane was friendly enough but kept talking to us like we know nothing about Japanese cuisine. Maybe he should first gauge our knowledge level before he spouts basic information that we prolly understand better than he. He did mess up a couple times though, he gave our Sashimi order to the wrong table. We were sitting there waiting for a LONG time, and even stopped a different server to ask. Finally he shows up and apologized profusely, explaining the situation. We ended up waiting some more before finally getting our last dish, the Sashimi dish, showed up. They did make up for it by comp'ing the dish and sending a complimentary matcha ice cream dessert, which at least was nice.

Sushi Den Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Sushi Den

Can you walk in or do you need a reservation?

They only take walk in's unless your party is over 6 people.

What the average amount spent for 2, trying to price it out for my brother and his partner?

It depends what they want to order. I did the omakase and spent about $150, but that is on the higher end. If they order a few rolls, some nigiris, and maybe some sashimi, I would say maybe $50-$100 per person. I am aiming high btw.

It's says you are open at 4:30am. How busy are you at that time?

Yes, the line to get into the restaurant may be long, however you can be seated easily that time.

Can I order omakase as a walk-in?

we always reserve it first. So they prepare special for you.

Do they have all you can eat?

Definitely not.

Is there a minimum number of people in your party to make a reservation? The language on their website doesn't state that there is a minimum number, though OpenTable says 5+, and other reviewers have stated it as well.

Depends on the day and time. Full details are here. http://www.sushiden.net/pdf/sushiden-reservations.pdf

You can't see the main dining room from the street, but it is tucked in the back of the building. There are multiple vegetarian choices in every part of the menu. The raw menu includes 26 sushi/sashimi choices, 26 regular rolls, eight vegetable rolls, and ten special rolls. Everything we tried was fresh and delicious. The seaweed salad was particularly good. The Unagi (freshwater eel) was extremely tender and flavorful. We also tried the Dragon Roll and the flavor and texture combination was great. Our other nigiri selections were beautifully sliced and at the peak of perfection. The place was totally packed by 6:00 p.m., but the service continued to be attentive and fast. We had a really great time and the bill was very reasonable. Give this place a try!
