Hon wasabi sashimi (catch of the day)

If I could give this experience 10 stars, I would. We enjoyed one of the most memorable meals I've ever had and I truly can't recommend it enough. From the start, Lewis made this meal a delight and walked us through the catch of the day menu with thoughtful details. Getting to learn so much about the origin of the fish and the details behind the ingredients made the night so much more interesting and special. His recommendations were phenomenal and so good that we ended up ordering seconds of three of the items. I even ordered a yuzu gin martini on his recommendation (and I don't like gin) and that was delicious, too. We ended the night with a palisade peach tart that was the perfect sweet finish to a perfect meal. My best recommendation is to come to sushi den and order as much of the catch of the day menu as your table can eat. You won't regret it. Also, we can't say enough good things about Lewis. The evening wouldn't have been the same without the attentive service, kindness, great recommendations, and overall wonderful energy.

My friend just moved from Downtown Denver to over near this spot. Being a foodie one of my first questions is, "so what's good to eat around here?" He immediately suggested Sushi Den off Pearl as the go to spot. We had eaten at Temaki Den several times which is one of my favs when I visit. So I was all in. It did NOT dissapoint. Not only was the sushi top quality, but they had a wild selection of unique fish, and approaches to classic combos. We had some amazing Sake to pair with it. The server was outstanding and met us at our goofy level joking with us just the right amount. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a beautiful restaurant with modern design and just casual enough where you don't feel like you have to be dressed to the 9's.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Pearl street in general is very quaint and homey and walkable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I definitely recommend checking it out!!

Hands down the best nigiri I have ever had in my life. If ever you're in Denver, Sushi Den is an absolute must. It definitely requires reservations- but it's worth it. We tried it ALL. Not a single thing was remotely fishy - all of it top quality. The service was wonderful and they coursed it out for us so we could try everything freshly made. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Parking wasn't easy - but the restaurant is very cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Service was great! So attentive. The food was as good as I had hoped. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is lovely and on theme.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is awful to find on your own but they do have valet. If you have a group including ASL users it might be helpful to ask for a four top table with a chair on each side. We forgot to ask and being at a table with two on one side and two on the opposite side made it a little uncomfortable to turn and sign. Definitely coming again. The food was perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. I would never order eggplant on my own but my friend insisted and it was spectacular.

Devine! The best seafood restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life. The staff is amazing and the atmosphere is spectacular!

We went there for our oldest son's birthday, his and his now fiancée's engagement and my husband and my 30th wedding anniversary yesterday. The waitress was Setsuko and she was so sweet and attentive the whole time we were there. She even gave us really good desserts with the candles which made us so special! The food was so delicious as always. We had nasu miso ( miso flavored eggplant) and grilled skewered beef, both of them were amazing then guys had nigiri with some rolls sets girls had chirashi, they look pretty and tasty!! We were so filled with great food and great hospitality. We will definitely go back there again!!

The appetizers and sushi we got were definitely good, but some of the fish was a bit too fishy for how fresh it's supposed to be, the wagyu was chewier than it should've been, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambience felt less warm and welcoming than other restaurants of this refinement.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] What we ordered: Wagyu kushiyaki - flavor and char was great, but had to chew a good amount more than you would want with wagyu. The little side of truffle mashed potatoes is amazing. Toro nigiri - on the "fresh from Japan" menu. Kinda fell flat - not bad, but didn't have much of that melt your mouth, buttery flavor. Mikan himachi nigiri - on the "fresh from Japan" menu. This was the nigiri that was fishier than expected. Deluxe sushi platter - great option to get more food for your buck. 4 nigiri, 6 sashimi, 2 hand rolls, and 1 california roll. Salad + miso soup.

I mean come on this place is to die for. Born and raised in California my entire life, this tops any sushi I've ever had from there. Quick service, Great food, busy atmosphere.

I celebrated my birthday at my favorite Denver restaurant, Sushi Den, and it never disappoints. The fish is unbelievably fresh, and the quality is consistently incredible. The service is phenomenal. The chefs are so friendly and helpful, and they really take the time to explain the dishes and specials. We started with the tuna flight, which was a special that night, and it was such a fun way to begin the meal. They walked us through the different types of tuna, and each one had its own distinctive flavor. All of the sashimi we ordered was incredibly fresh, delicate, and beautifully prepared. They even brought out complimentary cucumber salad and an orange dessert, which was such a nice touch. Honestly, the prices are very reasonable for the level of quality you're getting. Sushi Den is truly a Denver staple and absolutely not a restaurant to miss.

Sushi den is the place to go to celebrate special events. My friend and I had a blast getting dressed up and savoring every moment, every bite at Sushi Den! What a treat this was! Service was above and beyond friendly and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the ambience, while more traditional was incredible as always.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Denver staple fine dining! Superb!

The teriyaki chicken plate was not traditional. Nicely presented but unfortunately I enjoy the flavor of the salad or the dressing on the potato. I found the chicken to have too much fat. Stick to the sea food menu... the restaurant was busy and people looked pleased. The restaurant interior is beautiful!

Amazing experience!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]Loved sitting at the chefs counter and watching the sushi be made.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The crispy tuna rice is a death row meal for me. Especially enjoyed the lychee margarita and the scallop nigiri. This is a great special occasion spot. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a darker ambiance.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This is always a very service oriented experience from the moment you arrive until you walk out the door, stuffed with delicious Japanese cuisine. Crispy rice with spicy tuna is delicious. All four rolls were just what we wanted. Great flavor. Freshly made. They all arrived one right after the other. The pineapple upside down cake was exceptionally good. Tangy and sweet flavors on a delicious sponge cake. $180 for two out the door. Definitely a treat for a Friday lunch but well worth it. The restaurant is huge and always full. I recommend reservations. Plenty of seating for groups from 2 up and there is an outside patio. The interior of the restaurant is well appointed bring ca for the meal. Parking garage near by and limited street parking.

Ask the Community - Sushi Den

Can you walk in or do you need a reservation?

They only take walk in's unless your party is over 6 people.

What the average amount spent for 2, trying to price it out for my brother and his partner?

It depends what they want to order. I did the omakase and spent about $150, but that is on the higher end. If they order a few rolls, some nigiris, and maybe some sashimi, I would say maybe $50-$100 per person. I am aiming high btw.

It's says you are open at 4:30am. How busy are you at that time?

Yes, the line to get into the restaurant may be long, however you can be seated easily that time.

    Can I order omakase as a walk-in?

we always reserve it first. So they prepare special for you.

Do they have all you can eat?

    Definitely not.

Is there a minimum number of people in your party to make a reservation? The language on their website doesn't state that there is a minimum number, though OpenTable says 5+, and other reviewers have stated it as well.

Depends on the day and time. Full details are here. http://www.sushiden.net/pdf/sushiden-reservations.pdf

Considering the only other US location is in California, I was surprised and knew this would be my opportunity to try it! The aesthetic is modern & elevated with Japanese wooden features. I got 3 classic dishes which was just the right amount of food. I honestly recommend coming with a group to try more items since you know everything will be delicious. The Yellowtail Jalapeño is a signature dish; the yellowtail was delicate & buttery and the citrus soy with the bight of jalapeño made each bite clean, bright, with some subtle heat. I did not expect the Rock Shrimp Tempura to be that good! The shrimp was lightly battered & fried but the sauces were the highlights! Their creamy spicy is a very well-done spicy mayo but the butter ponzu was unreal! Super addictive, rich, and unlike any sauce I've had before. Shout out to my waitress for suggesting getting both sauces on the side rather than lathered on the shrimp, which also kept it crispy. Last but certainly not least is the famous Black Cod! The fish is super buttery and flaky; there were some caramelized edges from the miso glaze which added so much depth & richness to the bite. It's a good balance of sweetness, savoriness, umami that is bound to be good. All in all, so grateful I got to try what many call an institution and will certainly try more of chef Nobu's restaurants.

Some of courses were delicious and some were mediocre. We spent almost $700 for a party of four. The situation that needs the most improvement was the pace of the meal. The courses were separated by a 20-30-minute wait time. Considering that the courses were very small and contained 5-6 pieces for a party of four... that equates to a little more than a small bite every 20-30 minutes. The dinner took 2.5 hours to develop, and we were honestly still hungry by the end. The waiter started asking us if were "still hungry" at about the fifth courses. By the end, we felt awkward in asking for more. The wagyu beef was particularly disappointing as the beef was somewhat chewy, lacking taste and small. Waiters seemed to be near their capacity of workload. Didn't really take the time to serve, walk you thru the menus, keep the service moving or even gauge your level of satisfaction. We ordered dessert to celebrate the birthday. Apart from a small chocolate plaque on the dessert that said, "happy birthday", there was no attempt to celebrate the occasion as other less exclusive restaurants do... no "happy birthday" wish, no courtesy dessert... nothing special. The best part of this meal was by far, the young couple that accompanied us. Friendly advice: if you want to impress a client with something the feels exclusive... this may be the place. If you are looking for amazing food, being pampered and feeling your money was "well spent", try another place. I don't plan to visit this restaurant soon.

It was also an opportunity for me learn that it is/was one of the least impressive sushi restaurants I have been to in the Cherry Creek neighborhood or the entire greater Denver area. I am a believer in "try out and see for myself" person. I knew about the fairly low ratings of 3.5 stars they had but that didn't stop me. I am glad because now I know that Sweet Ginger isn't a place I would recommend to others if my friends are looking for a nice sushi place in centralized Denver. BUT.... They do have a reasonable happy hour menu and if someone is focusing on that element (only) then I might recommend it to them. Here is some highlights from yesterday: HH Appetizer section: It has 15 items listed in it (as of early/mid August of 2026). Prices range from $4.50 up to $7.50. Although I don't know each item's portion, based on what we got yesterday, the two items (age tofu and veggie tempura) were decently portioned for the kind of prices. They weren't masterfully cooked and prepared in any way and yet they were good enough. HH Sushi/sashimi section: We tried everything in it (8 different ones). They don't automatically come in two pieces so if you are splitting everything between two people then you order two pieces. Each (one piece) is $2.95. Not bad. The quality (in my frankest opinion) was okay-ish. Out of everything we ordered and ate, White Tuna and Yellowtail stood out. But as I indicated already, they are nowhere near the best in quality and freshness. Service...this was okay and quite basic (by one of the female workers). She was efficient though. In other words, she didn't make us wait for anything. Towards the end of our meal, there was a male worker who assisted us for our check. He was very pleasant and courteous. Upon leaving, two of the chefs inside the sushi bar thanked us for coming. We appreciated the kind gesture there. Whereas the restroom (ladies) was old and a bit dirty, the overall cleanliness's of the dining room was okay. The patio seating upfront is quite spacious; it'd be nice to sit outside as long as the weather permits (it was still too warm for us so we sat at one of the two-person tables inside at one of the big windows closer to the sushi bar.
