this place is one of my favorite hand roll places ever (from a girl coming from California who had many options)! I was in Denver to visit my friend, and I was telling her how I really liked hand rolls and so she recommended this place and it did not disappoint. We got here during happy hour when at first opened and immediately there was already a line luckily we were early so we did get seated a few minutes after arriving, and we were served relatively quickly. We got to sit at the bar and we ordered off of the happy hour menu, which was great because it had more than enough of what I wanted to try. We got several hand rolls and several of their other appetizers, but my favorite has to be their hand rolls. Their seaweed was so crispy and rolled so nicely. The rice was flavorful and their fish was so fresh. I felt like their prices were also pretty reasonable and I was more than content after having that dinner. Overall, I would put this very much on par with a place called Kazunori in LA. I heard that this restaurant has a sister restaurant called sushi Den that I heard was really good and that I will be trying out next time I'm in town. Please come try out Tamaki done if you're ever in the area the food will not disappoint. To celebrate our anniversary, we decided to come to Temaki Den and it did not disappoint (the hype makes a lot of sense). We thought we made a mistake choosing sushi bar instead of a table because we'll have back issues. Surprisingly, the chairs had a mini back so you could lean back occasionally. And we think our experience was better because the sushi chefs would explain the origin of the fish and all the ingredients they used into each roll and order. We also got a complimentary piece for sitting at the sushi bar which was a light fried yellow tail which was so good. Service is amazing. They're attentive and check in on you often. It does take some time to get your rolls but give its time to digest. From watching the sushi chefs at the bar, they're very precise in how they make each roll. Every roll has similar proportions from the slight wasabi they use to the amount of rice and fish. Everything that we had was amazing. The hamachi and salmon sashimi felt like butter. It just melts in your mouth. The aged toro was so delicious. Even the edamame was just so good. The unagi nigiri is some of the best I've had in the state (the nigri was better than the handroll and I think it's because I love unagi so I love the ratio in nigiri form). The Spicy Tuna Oshizushi was a surprising favorite of the night along with the Crème Fresh Salmon Belly. I could've done without the wagyu but it was good. Every order does come with only 1 so order based on the amount of people that are with your party. Some items we were unsure of like the wagyu so we ordered 1 and shared a bite. Overall, I understand the hype and the reservations. But it was worth it and I'm surprised we can get high quality fish in a landlock state. After hearing some good recommendations of this place for about 2 years I decided to give it a try. The ambiance is interesting, i wouldn't say comfortable. Because it was in the middle of a warehouse (inside The Source's bottom floor hotel). But its a good spot to catch up with a friend or strangers lol. Everything was good, the only tedious thing I would complain is that all the food and drinks was "over-seasoned". The restaurant itself is spacious and located inside an old warehouse with graffiti-covered walls, giving it an urban, artsy vibe. I visited on a Tuesday night, and the place was fairly busy with several solo diners at the bar and most tables filled. As for the food, the shrimp roll was my favorite -- fresh and flavorful. The eggplant roll was also a pleasant surprise. However, the blue crab roll was disappointing, as it had a canned tuna taste. Beware they are hand rolls and nigiri so there aren't the rolls you might be expecting at a normal sushi place here in the US. The 2 things you absolutely need to get are the scallop hand roll and the salmon oshizushi. I could probably eat 20 of each they're that good. Had a fantastic birthday dinner at Temaki Den. Made a reservation, and our seating at the sushi bar was ready on time. Both the hostess and server made note of my allergies. Temaki is located in the center of one of the markets at the Source Hotel so that it can be busy, but I was still able to have a conversation with my friend. Our server was terrific and helpful since this was our first time. She helped us make selections that were appropriate based on our preferences and would be enough to keep us satisfied. The sushi chefs started us out with a small bite of tofu topped with a cucumber roe and sesame crisps. Very fresh and bright. The spicy garlic edamame was precisely what it claimed to be. It was spicier at the top layer, but the yummy garlic was waiting underneath. The hamachi sashimi was delicious with just a hint of spice from the thinly sliced serrano peppers. For nigiri, I had the house favorite, salmon oshizushi, and black snapper. Both were good. I preferred the black snapper since it was a leaner cut and not as rich with the ponzu sauce and lime zest. The temaki hand rolls were fantastic. The spicy scallop wasn't too spicy, and the spicy tuna was hands down my favorite. Unlike most spicy tuna rolls, Temaki doesn't drown its tuna in mayonnaise or paste to make it spicy. The tuna was mixed with fresh herbs and chili, giving it a fresh, clean bite. Temaki Den "happy hour" is a bait-and-switch. Avoid this place! Don't even bother unless you have a reservation. Complete joke. Arrived at 4:45 (HH is 4:30-6:00) with a full party and was told 30-45 minute wait, maybe an hour. We stayed, paid for parking, and waited over an hour. At 5:40, still no table. I asked if they would honor happy hour pricing if we were seated after 6 due to THEIR wait. The host said "absolutely not" and "no exceptions." So they knowingly let people wait through the entire happy hour window with zero chance of actually getting it. We left at 6:00 after wasting an hour+ and paying for parking. At 6:04, we get a text that the table is ready. Completely unacceptable. If you can't seat guests within the happy hour window, don't advertise one. As it stands, this is misleading at best and a waste of time and money. Avoid for happy hour unless you already have a table -- otherwise don't bother. The nori is so crispy and complements all the other flavors so well. For each temaki, the sauces they add go together so well with the main component of the roll. For the desserts: I love the spicy kick added by the black pepper, which goes surprisingly well with the yuzu and the fresh strawberries on top of the crème brûlée is *close your eyes to savor the taste* level of good pairings. The waiter was really attentive, and wouldn't bring out the temaki unless it was guaranteed we could eat it immediately -- for example, if someone stepped away for a phone call he would wait until they came back to serve for them. He provided good recommendations and was attentive throughout. He honestly was the cherry on top of a 10/10 experience. I'll start off saying that the food was great! We went for happy hour and tried a variety of options which were amazing. However, what I'm not happy with was the staff. I did not have a reservation and had never been to this restaurant. I asked the wait staff if there were any open seats at the bar. She said No. There was no follow-up asking if I wanted to be added to the wait or an explanation that their bar seats were reserved for customers. I had another negative experience with her later on when I asked her for my wait and she rudely said that I had a 30 minute wait, yet as I was about to leave, I got a text less than 2 minutes later saying that my table was ready.
