I was craving sushi and wanted to try somewhere new. I've been to JP Nori in Littleton before and it was great, so I decided to give their Aurora location a try. The restaurant sits on the corner right off Colfax, and it's kind of easy to miss, but it's nice. They do have their own parking lot, which is helpful since Colfax parking can be hectic. Inside, the restaurant is quite small but nicely decorated and has a cozy feel. Overall, the experience wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The restaurant was very quiet there was only one other table besides us, yet the service felt very scattered. The server was kind but wasn't necessarily on top of things. For an appetizer, I ordered the tuna tartare. Although the portion was nice, it wasn't served with any chips or anything, which I thought was quite odd. It did have good flavor, but eating tuna tartare with a fork wasn't what I expected. I ordered the sashimi sampler and was quite disappointed, not only with the size of the fish but also because they served three different types of tuna. For a sashimi sampler priced at almost $40, that seemed crazy. Usually there's red snapper, yellowtail, or something other than just tuna. My boyfriend ordered the tankatsu, and it had no flavor and was very dry. I told myself I'll have to go back and give this place another try because I had high hopes, especially since their other restaurant never disappoints. read more

Absolutely FANTASTIC! We got the sushi and sashimi combo for two and it blew us away. If you pay an extra $10, you can get all salmon and tuna. It comes in a boat and is the freshest sushi I've had in Denver. Service was fast and enthusiastic. Vibe of the restaurant itself is both exciting and cozy. The restaurant is brand new, very clean, and we were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in. The menu has so many specialty rolls that it was hard to choose because they all sounded amazing. We ended up ordering the spicy tuna roll, spicy scallop roll, shrimp tempura roll, the Yummy Roll, and the seared tuna roll. Every single one was delicious, but the Yummy Roll was my absolute favorite. The prices are very reasonable for the quality and amount of sushi you get, and the service was excellent. The food took a little longer than expected to arrive, but it was worth the wait. The only downside was our server seemed a bit unusual and occasionally made comments under his breath. The sashimi pieces were the most generous that I have ever seen, 2-3x the size of most places. The rolls were well made but the rice was on the warm side which was off-putting to me. The food was good; the sushi came out and then the entrees way too quickly. I'd understand if the restaurant was super busy and waitstaff running between tables. This was not the case. The sushi rolls were fresh with good rice and ingredients. They have a lot of options to choose from as well as sashimi and nigiri. The teriyaki beef on the entree was fine. It was chewy. I consider myself to be a sushi aficionado. Fresh is the key word here. OMG - what an unexpected delight! We debated going in actually because the neighborhood and front presentation was not up to our standards- but so glad we did!! The blue fin was enough to blow your mind in freshness, then the yellowtail with a slice of jalapeño arrived with a yazu sauce that was so good my husband drank what was left. Each roll was so perfect and delicious- plus the seafood dynamite was to die for if you are wanting something cooked! And where can you get actual wasabi that not from a powdered mix? Went with my daughter on a Friday night. Not very crowded which was nice because the food came out fairly quick. The sushi tasted great along with some of the appetizers and dessert type pastry that came out free. I'm excited about this place staying in the neighborhood so I went 5 stars because of the food. Our waitress wasn't very attentive which was the only downfall but there was a guy that was waiting on other tables that was great and asked a few times if we needed a refill. I've been to this restaurant three times since opening and had a great experience with delicious sushi each time. This past week we were having a little family celebration and walked in the day they had blue fin tuna flown in from Hawaii. Wonderful fresh large sashimi cuts were great and rivaled the tuna we had just enjoyed in Japan. It's a new restaurant to the neighborhood (summer 2025) and I encourage everyone to try them out. read more

I am so sad to give this review. We have been so excited to try our new neighborhood addition. We arrived and were promptly seat. And then told it would be 45 minutes before our server would come to our table! Who has 45 minutes to sit in a restaurant with no service? The manager or maybe just a server was up from loudly complaining. The stars are only for the interior and that the kitchen looked clean. So disappointed by the whole experience.
