Chicken Steak and Shrimp Hibachi Sweet and Small hot & sour soup
Alaesha P.

I'm honestly very confused about the reviews because this food was the bomb!! everything tasted great!! The picture doesn't do the food justice you have to try it for yourself you won't regret it!! When I walked in they were hand making their wontons! Also their sauces are delicious!! I smashed the egg rolls in the car some of the best sweet-and-sour sauce I've ever had!

Easy ordering process. Yum Yum sauce was yummy! Food was still warm when we got home! Reasonable prices!

a meal of shrimp, broccoli and rice

I personally think this place is great! They only charge 1$ for delivery and were very prompt. I got the chicken, shrimp, steak and veggie hibachi combo with an egg roll. Every component of the hibachi meal was cooked properly, and it was still piping hot when the delivery dude arrived. The shrimp were properly deveined, which scored huge points with me. The egg roll was crispy, not greasy at all, and delicious. The hibachi stuff was what you'd expect, amazing! I will be ordering from here again. It Update 5 months later: the delivery is still 1$! I've been trying to eat low carb and they let me sub out the rice for extra fresh veggies in my hibachi. I would give this place 6/5 stars if possible.

Shrimp and chicken hibachi is so good. They prepare it super quick and pretty cheap for hibachi. It doesn't hurt that it is super close too.

The vibe is fast and loud, but the servers are super efficient and communicative. I really liked the tokidoki roll and hamachikama. Hard to go wrong with those! The hamachi kama was HUGE. They give you the entier collar! I also liked the yaki ika which was very tasty, not rubbery at all. They have a lot of ramen on the menu which was a crowd pleaser for our group. Their edamame is also very spicy and quite good -- not your typical simply salted edamame. One thing I wouldn't order - the kimchi fried rice. One person in our party ordered it but it wasn't really fried rice, just kimchi and meat mixed with steamed white rice.

Very Japanese like feeling with knick knacks every where with banners, akachõchin. Sushi bar takes one side and also a small bar to the back. Drink menu featured several imported Japanese bottled beers on top of the common ones at reasonable price. Ended up getting the house salad, chicken yakitori, spicy tonkatsu ramen and yaki ika. All tasted good, no complaints. Spicy tonkatsu ramen had rich broth, chatsu was grilled and plenty. Repeat

We got a quick rundown of the menu, however we did have a newer server. We thought she did great as she constantly checked in on us and made sure that we were doing well. The takoyaki was a bit too doughy for my liking, but it was okay. The gyoza are on the other hand was absolutely perfect and needed no additional sauce except the one that came on it. When the black garlic Ramen came to the table, it had a slight flavor, but I would say it was pretty plain. We ended up asking for some of the sauce that was on the Gyoza for the soup base. When we added that to the soup base, it became 1000 times better. The noodles were cooked fairly well, but I would just say the broth needed a bit more flavor. Overall, it was a nice spot and we may be back to try other things.

While staying at Hyatt House, across from UC Colorado Anschutz Medical Center where we had an appt,…read morewe were looking for something light to eat since we had a late lunch on our flight to Denver due to a delayed flight. There doesn't seem to be much near the hotel within walkable distance. Searching online I found Kassai Sushi that was open late and place a delivery order from their website. If you're choosing delivery, use their website because the prices are slightly lower. For example, the Dinner Box "B" I ordered was $27.95 on the restaurant website, and the same thing on Grub Hub was listed at $31. Dinner Box "B" is a nice sushi/sashimi combo : 7 pieces of sushi, 7 pieces of sashimi, and California Roll. It also comes with soup, rice and salad. When I placed the order for "ASAP", they gave an estimated delivery time of 45 minutes, and the order arrived on time. The driver met me outside the hotel front entrance. The sushi was good! Some of the sashimi was sliced in an odd way I had never seen before... they were wide, long, and thin. Still tasty. I like how they packed the soy sauce in little cups, as it gives some place to mix in wasabi. I also don't like dealing with all those little soy sauce packets that are usually packed in take out. The orange cup contained the dressing for the salad. I'm not sure what flavor it was, but it was good. This is a big meal and will definitely fill you up.

This was easily one of the most unpleasant meals I have had in a long time. The experience went…read moredownhill the moment I walked into Kassai Sushi. The restaurant smelled noticeably fishy and unwelcoming, which is never a good sign for a sushi spot. seeing a 4.8 star rating on Google, I decided to give it the benefit of the doubt. That turned out to be a mistake and I should have trusted yelpers (3.8 stars - a terrible rating for as compared to surrounding sushi spots) Both sushi chefs behind the counter had headphones on and were completely preoccupied, working with their heads down and making no effort to acknowledge customers. It set a disengaged tone right away. The menu was extensive but frustrating to navigate, requiring constant cross referencing between the sushi menu and the regular menu just to understand what ingredients were included. Unfortunately, my biggest mistake was ordering the tuna nachos. The dish arrived as mushy, fishy tasting tuna drowned in mango and heavy sauces, completely soaking the wonton chips. One bite was enough and I sent it back - I gagged and almost threw up. We ordered several pieces of nigiri next, and the chef mistakenly prepared smoked salmon instead of regular salmon. What followed was even worse. The fish was stringy, extremely stale, and outright disgusting (apologies in advance for the photo of the stringy fish - this was also another gag moment). I also tried yellowtail that was intensely fishy and unacceptably stringy, pointing to low quality fish and poor preparation technique. The scallop is low quality made up of stale bay scallops. The new style salmon was just as bad, but at that point we did not bother sending back any more dishes. The hot dishes were no better. The fried pork chop was very dry, especially around the edges. The grilled hamachi head was overwhelmingly fishy and not properly grilled. Luckily we had plenty of lemon to make it somewhat tolerable. Service was mixed. The lone waitress was kind and clearly overworked, handling all the tables as well as take out orders - sheas great. Another staff member was on the phone the entire time. When we paid and left, the sushi chefs did not notice and remained absorbed in their music. Overall, this meal showed serious issues with fish quality, preparation, seasoning, and attention to customers. The chefs would genuinely benefit from tasting their own food or visiting nearby reputable sushi spots to better understand balance and technique. Never again.

We got a cute high top table by the window, their seating is comfortable, even the hightop chairs have backs. The drinks here are delicious, I got the lychee margarita and it was perfect, not too sweet and comes with a real lychee on a skewer, which is a lovely pairing. To eat, I got my favorite aburi tuna, which I always make sure to try if a place has them. It was so good, I love the seared flavor and the fish was so fresh, the texture was perfect. We also got the fried rice, it is served with the staff, mixing the yolk of an egg into the dish at the table in front of you. This made it so rich and delicious, and felt like a show. I was really impressed by the rice itself too, nothing simple about it. The flavors were so dynamic, and everything was cooked to perfection. We also had the black miso cod, this might have been the highlight dish. It was so tender and supple, melting at the touch of a fork and even better in your mouth. The flavors were unbelievable, and it leaves you wanting more. The area is pretty central to wash park, a quick five or 10 minute walk over to Broadway after dinner is easy and accessible too. Totally will be back

You order off the menu with an erasable pen which is very smart. Many Japanese restaurants (especially when ordering sashimi, nigiri, rolls) use a ton of paper for their orders. We did have a waitress but the staff helps one another running drinks and food. The food was very good, fresh and I'd definitely go back. My suggestions would be bringing the dishes out over time. We received almost everything at once and the table was very full. The bathrooms are part of Stanley and are fine. They are usually clean. Smaller, well loved mom and pop restaurant that you can tell is a community favorite. This is a dying genre of Japanese restaurant we're seeing in SoCal (at least) with the rampant gentrification and rising rent, so this was a nice place to stop by. However, with that in mind, it's not the biggest restaurant, so definitely call in advance to put in a reservation if you have a bigger party, like ours. I want to add, to my amusement, that they have Shohei Ohtani themed dish menus here. The Japanese love him, no matter where they're at or from (as an LA adjacent native, this was pretty funny). For our visit, I got: 1) Negitoro Don: -It's a minced fatty raw tuna mixed with green onion on rice. -I've had this before at a fancy omakase and after that I've fallen in love with negitoro. Love the fatty, rich tuna with the crisp bite of the green onion and slight crunch of the nori bits they have on top too. -Delicious fresh fish and tasty, comforting rice dish. 2) J.F.C. - Japanese Fried Chicken: -We got 2 orders of this so our party can heartily enjoy. Goes great with the sauce they provided. Can't go wrong with crispiness of the breading and skin. Chicken was moist too. Good stuff. I got to try some of my friend's dishes too and all were perfectly seasoned and also were in generous portion sizes. Solid Japanese comfort food.
