    Sea cucumber soup (banquet 2)
    Brian W.

Came here twice recently for two different dinner banquets and the seafood was exceptional. And while there were a lot of highlights, there were also some lackluster dishes, so this gets a high 4/5. One thing I did appreciate that I haven't seen at other banquets was that as we ate the food, the staff would sometimes come by and transfer the food to smaller plates to keep the table a little bit neater rather than trying to stack everything on top of each other. Some of the food highlights: Cold platters: Both of these were pretty good, though I didn't care for the fatty pork slices in each. The pork belly was really crispy which was nice, but because it was cold the fat was a little chalky. The beef, slices were great and well flavored, the shrimp was astounding with a sweet glaze on it, the cuttlefish was the perfect amount of soft and chewy, and the pickled veggies/jellyfish had a great acidic and sesame balance. I preferred this dish at the 2nd banquet, but both were great. Shrimp and Scallop: This is my favorite of all of the dishes. The seafood was really fresh and sweet, but the sauce was to die for. It had a great balance of ginger and scallion, and the seafood juices + sauce was absorbed into the snap peas that the veggies tasted like lobster. I've never had this flavor sensation before with veggies - 10/10 would order every time. Abalone and mushrooms: This wasn't bad but it was canned abalone. The mushrooms were probably the star here. Sea cucumber soup: This didn't have a ton of taste unfortunately. Lobster: Very typical - nothing too special but nothing terrible here. The shells were cracked well to avoid too much manual labor. Fried chicken and boiled chicken: Both of these were pretty tough and chewy, but the fried chicken was a bit better. Still, it was a little dry. Steak: Both of these were great and even though one of them was a little well done, it still somehow was very soft and tender. Fish: The steamed fish was great, but the fried fish lacked...everything really. It didn't really have much meat on it at all - it felt like the fish had been saved for another dish and the dish we were served was crispy bones and skin. The steamed fish was nice and flavorful though, and all of the meat seemed to be on the fish. Fried rice: Tasted very strongly of dried scallop if you like that - I didn't particularly enjoy it though. Long life noodles: There were no mushrooms in here so it lacked that shitake flavor, but still a solid plain noodle dish. Scallion pancakes: VERY crispy and delicious, but hardly any scallions. Still, a very very good version of this dish due to how crunchy it was! All in all, there were some highs and lows, but most of the seafood itself was great. I could definitely see choosing all of the highs leading to a 5/5 meal though! I'd love to come back for dim sum as well!

More like 3.5. Our usual is China Pearl as we enjoy the rolling carts but they're closed for renovations so we made our way to Ming. Apparently everyone and their mother had the same idea - the place was jam packed and we were told it'd be a 25 mins wait. We were seated right about the 25 mins mark! The place is a bit outdated with the decor but we're here for the food... We sat, ordered and ate! Some things we enjoyed, some things we wouldn't order again. My faves were the wings and chicken feet. My sister enjoyed the shrimp rolls and shrimp/chive dumplings. Soup dumplings and shui mai were a bit disappointing. The service was as good as it could've been for as busy as it was but the food came out hot and fast and came in waves of how the food was prepared - steamed items first, then fried, etc....I can imagine that they must make a lot of this in bulk to promptly serve the masses. Individual pots of hot tea at $1/$1.50 pp. All in all, not terrible and I would return but now know what not to order. There is a lot for parking but man it was so busy it took me 10 mins to find a spot!

Been here for a big family dinner gathering and it wasn't too bad or busy on a Thursday night. Came here for Sunday dim sum and it was packed but the wait moved relatively quick and highlights included the crispy bbq baked pork buns, those were dangerously delicious. Other dim sums lacked flavor while others were mediocre. Plenty of parking and great decor with large natural light windows

This is a solid chinese restaurant. Is it the best? nope but for Boston its pretty good. Its big and clean, service is excellent, and the food is consistent. If you come for dim sum, get here early cause it gets crowded and you will have to wait. For dinner it has great selection and fresh seafood.

Got there early Father's Day. It was packed and got there just at open as they were seating patrons. Quality dim sum. Solid staples. They have some nice twists on classic favorites and nice additions. We got this delicious lychee looking dish. Turned out to be shrimp and cheese filled. As we left, there was still a big crowd at the door waiting to be seated. Definitely seating further away from the front door makes the experience much more pleasant.

Came here for their dimsum on a Sunday and it looks like they are super popular because it took us 1.5 hours to get a table! After getting seated however, the food came fast right after we ordered it and it was all soooo good! I especially enjoyed the marinated tripe, chicken feet, and all the buns we tried. They have a great dimsum selection and are very prompt with delivering food, which made our experience here pretty good. Since they are always full, it can be hard to get ahold of someone for help, but they are always circling around so they'll see you at some point. I loved all the food we had here and would love to come back on a less busy day!

Slow serving time, soup and tea were bland, food was overly salty, meat had its soul overcooked out of it.

Overall: I was recommended this place as one of the better dim sum places if not the best in Boston. I leave with a lackluster experience in food quality from a very fancy (by Chinese dim sum standards) establishment. Food: Har Gow rice wrapper was very grainy typical of pre frozen. The rice rolls with Chinese donut did not even have the right sauce to go with them. The radish/turnip cakes had no texture. The bok choy had a bit of a bitter taste to them. The beef intestines were a bit chewy but actually pretty good. Lastly, the custard filled buns (minion shape) tasted surprisingly not bad. But the bun itself was similar to pre frozen kinds. Ambience/Service/Decor: I will say the redeeming factor of the service being quick and always available was nice. The fact that it's also quite clean and a very large space helps as well.

Watch your knees! Their tables are a disaster.

6/10. Some of the dim sum was cold and bland. Once again the staff asked if we tipped. SMH. Also witnessed the hostess argue loudly with a man waiting in line. These people don't know how to conduct business. Why is this place even busy ? Awful food and worse service. Siu Mai- bland. how do you mess up siu mai ? Fried milk - room temp, not piping hot. Jai Leurng- very good, the single best dish we got. crunchy and the rice roll was how it should be. Radish cubes in XO sauce - okay. not impressed, served hot Spring rolls- served piping hot , very good Steamed pork bao- very little filling, not sweet enough, but the bao was fluffy. Beef rice roll- okay.

I wasn't feeling well so my husband got me takeout dim sum when we were in the area. Beef chow fun was packed with flavor and great pieces of beef. Spare ribs were fall off the bone goodness. Tripe in black bean sauce was super tender and one of my absolute favorites, along with braised chicken feet in black bean sauce. Pea shoots were soooooooo good and complimented all the other dishes I had. I had their garlic fried chicken wings in house before and that's the only way to have them. They do not travel well in the styrofoam tray as it steams, overcooks and gets super rubbery. I won't get those to go anymore but Ming's remains one of my favorite dim sum restaurants in the Boston area.

I like how the restaurant has a variety of dim sum selection, both traditional and more modern styles of dishes. My favorites are always the pork and vegetable dumplings as well as the different types of congee! My friend and I (party of 2) went for a late weekday lunch and there were a lot of tables available. Weekend brunch times are usually more full but the wait also wasn't very long since the restaurant has plenty of seating!

Awesome and the best place on the South Shore for dimsum. Clean, well lit, spacious and beautifully decorated. Plenty of free parking with their own parking lot as well as street parking. A big plus than trying to find parking in Chinatown and paying for it. They give you a checklist along with a menu with descriptions and photos of the dishes. Great service, attentive, courteous, polite, friendly and professional. Every dish is served quickly, hot and fresh. All prepared perfectly and delicious. Highly recommend. Definitely our go-to anytime for dimsum.

Went here with my folks for lunch. Solid and fast service, nothing much to complain about. Dining area is very pretentious and well furnished. Lots of breathing room. Restroom was clean, seating was clean. Menu was huge and some of the items were cutely shaped. Food itself was very filling, maybe too much but still good. Not too sweet nor salty. A very decent place, tasty food though.

At a dim sum restaurant, that guts the entire point of being there. Instead of ordering what I wanted, I was left picking from what happened to still be available, which is not how this cuisine is supposed to work. The food itself did nothing to redeem the situation. Dumplings were dull and lifeless, with uneven textures and no real depth of flavor. Nothing tasted freshly made or particularly cared for. Even the tea was bad. Not weak, not average, but actively disappointing. Essentially hot water with barely any tea leaves. This is not a new place working out kinks. It has been around for years, which makes the lack of execution harder to excuse. At best, this felt like a restaurant coasting on inertia. I left wishing I had gone elsewhere. One final note: as others have mentioned, this restaurant is cash only, which would be fine if the experience justified the inconvenience. It did not.

Ground Pork W.preserved Vegetables Clay Pot Rice梅菜肉餅煲仔飯: The English translation is already a bit misleading. This dish should be pork patty with preserved mustard greens, but what was served didn't match either component. First, this was not meicai梅菜(preserved mustard greens). Proper meicai should be dark brown and fibrous even after soaking, whereas this consisted of pale yellow granules, both in appearance and taste much closer to dongcai冬菜 (preserved Chinese cabbages). While dongcai can appear in some clay pot rice dishes, this was clearly not what it should be. Second, this was not a pork patty. The meat was simply loose minced pork scattered on top of the rice, without any mixing or shaping. As a result, it lacked the cohesion, tenderness, and springy texture that define a proper pork patty. There was even a slight sour note, which felt off. Third, the "claypot sauce" was surprisingly slightly viscous, like Singaporean dark soy sauce, and had a strong ginger flavor. I also tried the rice roll sauce; it had a normal soy sauce texture, but the ginger flavor was still very strong, meaning it was still not authentic. Given the stated Taishan background, the lack of traditional structure and technique in this clay pot rice was quite surprising. Compared to Clay Pot Cafe in Boston Chinatown, which offers a way more authentic execution, the difference becomes even more apparent. That said, to be fair, the rice itself was decent: grains were distinct, and there was a noticeable wok aroma. Milk Tea: The old menu called it "Hong Kong style milk tea," while the new menu simply said "milk tea," which seems more accurate. It was bitter at first, then intensely sweet, not fragrant at all--very weird. As someone who grew up in Guangdong, it's honestly frustrating to see it reduced to something so off. If you're looking for an authentic Cantonese clay pot rice experience, this would likely be a disappointing stop.
