    Thai-ny Boat Noodle
    Christine L.

Larb Zaab is solid Thai spot located in Wollaston! I recently visited this spot and tried their Thai-ny Boat Noodle bowl. First, I loved the name "Thai-ny" as it was clever for the small bowl. When it came out it was actually a little bit bigger than I though. Second, although the bowl was "tiny", the noodle bowl was packed full of flavor! I got their dry noodles with beef and it was so good. This is the perfect appetizer to pair with any of their dishes or if you're not that hungry. The noodles were perfectly cooked and everything was seasoned well. This definitely was made with love! The chicken satay was also good, just a little bit dry. The coconut flavor really stood out and paired well with the provided sauces. The restaurant itself is on the smaller end but there are a handful of tables to dine in. They got pretty busy around lunch on a Saturday afternoon but most people ordered takeout. The service was friendly and overall the vibes were homey, reflecting the feelings of having a home-cooked dish. Parking is a bit tough (it is Wollaston) but if you look on side streets you should be able to find something. There is also the Wollaston T Station parking lot that you can park at! Overall, I would definitely recommend giving this spot a try and I'd love to try different dishes!

It was a delicious lunch, a little expensive but the service was good and it was very authentic. The designs are very Thai themed. The fried chicken was delicious but expensive The curry noodles were yummy and the crispy chicken rice was very juicy and crispy. The udon basil stir fry noodles were good but a little too sweet for my personal preference. The Thai tea was good and the Thai iced coffee was good as well. Overall, a nice lunch place, only street parking. The interior is small, only maybe 4 tables.

Stopped by for lunch. Quiet inside so service was great. The tom yum soup was tasty. Flavorful broth and quality chicken. I would come again.

My partner and I got the larb (chicken), khao kha moo, nuea daad deaw, Thai-ny boat noodle (beef), and sweet sticky rice w Thai custard - TASTE: 5/5 - everything was tasty! My fave was the larb w its perfect balance of red onion, cilantro, mint, chili, and lime juice. Enjoyed the comforting flavors of the pork hock stew (khao kha moo), the savory, sour broth of the boat noodle soup, and the well-seasoned, fatty beef jerky (nuea daad deaw). Perfect ending w dessert; I live for coconut sticky rice TEXTURE: 4/5 - highlights include the larb's ground chicken, the chicharrón in the boat noodle soup, the tender pork hock, and the spongy Thai custard PRICE: 4/5 - total came to $62 SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - left satisfied w our dinner SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 5:15pm on a Sunday and only one other table was occupied. Food started coming out 10min after ordering ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - bright space, of around 20 seats, w good Thai music and beautiful pla taphian, aka woven fish hanging mobiles PARKING: 4/5 - got a free street spot on Beale St

We had the Khao Ka Pow Jumbo and Tom Yom Prawn. I liked the Khao Ka Pow Jumbo with rice. The Tom Yom was a disappointment. The broth was both too salty and sweet at the same time. The prawns were not fresh at all! The servers were really nice! No wait on a Friday night!

Small clean local mom and pop Thai restaurant. This is an authentic Thai menu for sure! I have come here many times with friends and also have referred some and I always get good feedback. The portions are very fair with the price charged. The service here is very friendly and the food comes out pretty quick. Great place for lunch or dinner on a low key day

It's nothing special, but it's definitely a nice local Thai restaurant for a comfort meal at a reasonable price. The place is small, and we waited around 30 minutes on a Friday without reservation for 5 people. We ordered fried corn, golden bags, chicken satay, and kor moo yang for appetizers. My favorite was the fried corn and kor moo yang. Tom Yum Prawn was a bit spicy and had too much cilantro that covered the Tom Yum taste and was a little watery. Soft shell crab pad thai was considered okay, with not too much sauce, which I preferred so the rice noodles wouldn't stick together. I would order takeout from the place but not dine in since the place is small for a takeout order group.

Recently opened Larb Zaab takes over the old Pad Thai's location. Inspired by the Thai Street food scene, they bring to us authentic flavors! Larb Zaab is a cozy and inviting restaurant with cute little fish origami surrounding us. Their food is flavorful and you know it is spicy when spicy is in their name (Zaab = spicy). But we ordered little spicy and it had a minor kick to it. The drinks are super refreshing and they added drinks that you normally do not get from other Thai restaurants. We tried the Flower Tea Slushie, Thai Tea Slushie, and Longan. I LOVED the flower tea slushie because it has a pungent chrysanthemum taste. Crab Pad Thai, Khao Soi, Thai-ny (love a great pun) Boat Noodle, Fried Corn, Crispy Pork Belly Larb, just to name a few items we've shared and enjoyed.

Khao Moo Dang with sauce on the side

They are the new thai restaurant replacing pad thai. Went there for lunch and the waitress was very polite and friendly. I ordered khao moo dang, with sauce on the side. The meat was delicious. Also replaced the rice with garlic rice. I can't wait to go back and try other menu. Space was only 5 tables and every one of them are taken!

I came here a few times for the same thing just to test the consistency of the chef. Well I ordered the 2in1 chicken plate with the pouched and fried chicken and today it was a little off. The chicken was a bit dry and the rice seemed hard to digest compared to other hai nan rice I had. Overall, it's still decent and service is friendly. Downside is they don't have ginger scallion sauce for the pouch chicken.

    Crispy chicken pad thai ended

Look I got the food delivered but you know if the flavor is good or bad. Food was really subpar for us. Crispy chicken pad Thai ended up being something id expect from a late night Chinese take out spot because the chicken was mostly batter and barely any meat. Ultimately doesn't taste authentic. There was something off with the curry (not pictured) and the Khao Soi just didn't hit the spot. i really wanted to like this place given that it's new but the flavors need to be improved upon.

Chow Foon (8/10): Extremely solid, with plenty of wok hei. I always judge chow foon off of the beef, and they did pretty well here. It was tender and flavorful. Noodles had perfect texture. Chicken Quarter Appetizer (7/10): This was pretty good fried chicken. Very crispy. I think Cafe Mami in Porter Square still does it better. It was a bit too greasy for me. It's VERY value though ($9.99 for a massive piece) Bolo Bao w/ Silky Scramble Egg (8.5/10): I haven't had this combo before, but it was very good. Their silky scramble egg dishes are a must-try. Cream-Filled French Toast topped with Ovaltine (9/10): Delicious. They somehow made cheese work with this. I applaud it. Baked Pork Chop w/ Portuguese Sauce (8.5/10): Portuguese sauce was delicious. Pork was tender and flavorful. Cheese on top was delicious. We waited about 90 minutes for Saturday lunch. I would highly recommend not coming with more than 4 people. If you do, you should split your party. They only have one large table. Service was very good, though. Food came out super fast.

The restaurant has…read morevery limited parking spaces in front of the restaurant, maybe enough for three or four cars? Be prepared to find street parking and even do a little walking. As for wait time, I have been here twice during lunch and on the second trip I did have to wait 20 minutes for a table. The restaurant was packed and there were plenty of takeout orders throughout the meal when I dined in both time. Clearly, a local favorite. You can try the trio appetizer that lets you try the fish ball, fish dumpling, and rice rolls. It's the right amount to share with three people and each person gets a taste of the three appetizers. My favorite had to be the rice balls, followed by the fish dumplings, and last the rice noodles. Of the toasts I have tried so far, I preferred the sweet toast dessert filled with milk as opposed to the truffle egg toast. For entree, I have to say, the fried chicken with the omelet egg is a must try. Next would be the Hainese chicken. Then third with be the sorrowful rice, which is two fried eggs and bbq pork. Everything was so flavorful. You have to try the milk teas. If you prefer sweet, go for the ice bear milk tea, but if you like a bit bitter, go for the hot version and add sugar to your preference. Overall, food came at a fast pace, service attentive. There is plenty of seating end even seating in a private dining space for a larger group of 10 or so in the back of the restaurant. I would definitely be coming back. See my pictures.

My only issue is how tightly they pack the tables--you literally couldn't share a secret with your date without flanking tables hearing you. If I'd have known, I'd have asked to sit at the bar, which would have been more intimate (so four stars, but food is the bomb). Definitely make reservations--there will be a line at 8 pm. The speakers played 80s hip hop. The place is lively to say the least. We had the duck salad, mussels (ask for an extra order of charred bread WHEN you order--needed to sop up the delicious sauce). It took 15 minutes for extra bread when I realized the two pieces weren't enough. We also tried the beef cheek fried rice, short rib (amazing) and the crawfish noodles. The rice and noodles had fish roe throughout which made for a delightful mouth feel. My date had the lychee martini. I had the lychee mocktail, which was delicious. For dessert, we shared a slice of avocado cheesecake! Odd but totally delicious with a cookie-like crust and ribbon of brown butter buttercream. Chef's kiss all around. Loved our server, but even she apologized for abandoning us for a bit. The place was slammed!

The hummus is like a deconstructed Vietnamese sandwich that packs a punch of flavor. The bread is grilled nicely and you'll definitely want more bread to use up the hummus. The shaking beef is marinated well with loads of vegetables.
