I went into Pho Pasteur on a Friday night while passing through Quincy. I was hoping for something warm on a cold night. First, the parking isn't great as it's on a crowded street. Almost felt like trying to find parking in downtown Boston. Second, the waiter was abrupt and slightly rude and never really checked on us. And third, the food was just okay. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything to get excited about. I got the wonton noodle soup, and the wontons were definitely frozen, and the noodles were not high grade. This is my to go pho spot. I got the large beef pho, fresh spring rolls, and a Thai tea. They were all delicious. There are sauces and utensils already on the tables as well. First things first, thank you, Phở Pasteur for being open on Christmas. I found myself needing to buy some lunch, and you were there for me. As for the experience: The service had a bit of a rocky start. I found myself almost invisible for the first five minutes. "I'll be right with you, sir" is all it would have taken. However, after that, it was a climb into five-star territory steeper than I could have imagined. Plus, I appreciate and understand that the entire front of the house was being run by one waiter and one bartender. I ordered a Beef Noodle Soup {only comes in Large (#16) or X-Large (#15)} Now, I'm going to level with you: was this bowl a work of art? No. However, it has everything else going for it! This bowl of goodness came out fresh and hot in two minutes despite the restaurant being notably busy at the time. The broth was flavorful and savory without being overloaded with salt. All the ingredients, including the noodles, vegetables, and meats were balanced and in proper amounts. Finally, $13.50 for a large and filling bowl of Pho is a phenomenal value, and after the initial wait, the service was just fine. Thus, while Phở Pasteur likely won't be on my Hall of Fame, I can definitely see myself returning! With that, my Yelp 100 challenge for 2023 is complete. Happy New Year everyone! read more

First off, this Pho Pasteur is way better than the one in Chinatown! I came here with a friend on a Thursday night and we were the only table. They seem to do a lot of take out here and have a dedicated delivery service table by the door. The restaurant is pretty big and spacious with 15 or so tables. I ordered the XL Combination Pho for $13.50 and it was huge with a large amount of meat and noodles. The broth was hearty and I drank most of it. I also recommend their rice places, but would pass on their vermicelli dishes. Each table has a bottle of tabasco and hoisin sauce. The mango smoothie was good and it wasn't too sweet. For the quality, quantity, and price, it was a deal. The service was average for an asian restaurant and the bathrooms were clean. read more

I sought out Pho Pasteur-Quincy because I had a hankering for Cahn Chua Tôm. I hadn't had it in quite a long time and I enjoyed it immensely. I have been to Pho Pasteur many times in Chinatown but this was my first time in Quincy. I love the Chinatown location and was equally impressed with this one. I got the grilled beef short rib rice plate for 14.95 and was amazed by the flavor and texture of the ribs. They were so juicy and flavorful and I feel like I got a lot of meat for the price along with a heaping pile of steaming hot white rice. I believe it's the same cut of meat as galbi but this is just as good and much cheaper than galbi. On top of this, it was not very busy but the service was still quick and attentive. Our family have gone to pho Pasteur for years; decades! I have gone to the Chinatown location in years past but today was in the area of Quincy doing Asian groceries. After all these years I firmly believe that Pho Pasteur is the best bowl of pho one can get here on the East Coast. The ratio of noodle vs meat vs broth was spot on. The broth is full flavored and is absolutely delicious. I haven't had a bowl of pho this good on a long time. And of course again my eyes were bigger than my stomach and today I opt for an XL bowl. I couldn't finish it. While trying to slurp the delicious broth down, I had an instant thought , how do those people at pho challenges do it?? Like Raina etc As newer pho restaurants sprouting up , one tend to go for convenience or nearby home and I forget where I used to go. Well let me tell you I was glad to revisit a place of familiarity. When I'm in the area again, there's no doubt that I will come back here for a delicious bowl of pho. You should too! My wife and I went here with another couple two Sunday's ago. The food was great and the service during the meal was great. It was the billing that was the problem. The bill came to $73 after taxes. We split the bill two ways (two couples) and each left the same tip. The waitress brought the credits cards back and everything looked normal. We each tipped the same amount (I think 7 bucks each). 3 days later I just happened to check my credit card statement and I saw I was charged the entire bill+ tax ($73) AND my half of the bill+tip ($43ish). So they in total made: $73+$43+$43= $159. I called them up and they told me I needed to come in to fix the problem. Not a huge deal, since we are in Quincy every weekend now. I go in with my receipt and copy of my credit card statement and they tell me no manager is around and they can't help me. I call back 3-4 different times and each time they just tell me no manager is around and they don't know where he is. That he might be on vacation but they don't know when he will be back at the restaurant. They essentially stole 73 dollars from me and won't do anything about it. I finally just disputed the charge with BofA and they refunded me. Still shady af that they double charged me and won't do anything about it. It's too bad, cause the food is great and we would have been eating here 2-3 times a month, but now we will never be coming back. read more

street parking is a bit challenging in the area. there is a lot nearby which is pretty cheap ($1 an hr) my go to for any pho places is pho tai bo vien (pho with beef and meatballs). most places would consider this a standard dish. this place charged the pho and the meatball as a separate add on couple bucks isn't the end of the world but its the principles! still a bit aggy about it and probably wouldn't come back to this particular location. there are plenty of great pho places around quincy and dorchester pho overall taste like it should, i just did not like how i was charged read more

We dined on a Friday around 6pm so parking was a tad difficult as there is no parking lot -- street parking only. I ordered the beef noodle soup. The small is priced at $9.50, large for $10.75 and x-large for $12.00. The broth was not as flavorful compared to the Pho Pasteur in Chinatown. The hoisin and sriracha sauce is no longer available at the table due to COVID; sauce was given upon request. To mention, I also asked for additional sriracha sauce and the server acknowledged it, but never came back with it. My boyfriend ordered the BBQ pork chop rice plate for $11.50. The pork chop was mediocre -- didn't amaze us. Our food took awhile to come out..the table next to us (party of 4) ordered after us, yet got their food before us. I came here with my girlfriend for dinner and ordered the Beef Noodle Soup (X-Large). Nothing beats a hot bowl of noodles and soup on a chilly evening. Given the state of the COVID-19 pandemic, they seated customers away from one another in following with the social distancing rules given by the CDC. Also, they have a QR code of the menu at each table, but give you the paper takeout menus as well. Servers are also wearing masks and gloves when serving food. Their portion sizes are huge, and it's so cheap! A huge bowl of pho is under $10, and it was so much food. Everywhere in Boston (and even places in Malden) is at least $13-14. The broth is flavorful, and they give you plenty of toppings. Since we can only get take out or delivery now, the noodles always come out either undercooked or overcooked. I can't wait until restaurants can open up again to try it freshly served. There's plenty of street parking in the area to pick up take out, and every time I come here, they finish preparing your order in under 15min. It was very flavorful and had so much meat which can be hard to find. It wasn't the best pho I ever had (a little more oily than I'm used to and the eye round steak was cut too thick so harder to eat) and they gave us only one plate of bean sprouts/basil for three people.
