This hole in the wall cozy spot in Quincy has to be my favorite. I was brought here by a friend and we ordered the baked bolognese spaghetti and beef chow foon. It was heavenly. I haven't had a good baked bolognese spaghetti since Quality Cafe in Chinatown closed. At first, I had zero expectations but taking that first bite brought back memories and that I was ecstatic to find a place that does this dish right! The beef chow foon had the perfect wok energy so it came out delicious. We also got the milk tea and iced lemon tea. The lemon tea was on the sour side but it was still good. I drive by this area pretty often & have been to many of the restaurants around here but have never tried Jinye Cafe before, or at least I thought I haven't. Turns out, my family has been getting their salted chicken & soy sauce chicken from here all along! We got half a salted chicken & half soy sauce chicken to go, plus extra ginger scallion oil. I LOVE GINGER SCALLION OIL! THIS over rice, chef's kiss. Simple but so darn good. Def a hole in the wall kind of spot, but don't knock it until you try it! Do not sleep on this hole in the wall restaurant! If you are looking for comfort Chinese food, similar to a cha chaan teng or food that your grandma used to cook, this is the spot! Between my friend and I, we ordered three items. We started off strong with the salt and pepper chicken wings. They were perfectly fried, sprinkled with salt, and adorned with fresh jalapeños. Then we got the curry beef brisket with rice. The beef is so hearty and tender. The sauce sopped up every morsel of rice. And the star of the show was the baked pork chop rice with tomato sauce. This dish was so satisfying. It's a crispy pork chop over a bed of fried rice. Ladled on top is a blanket of tomato sauce and gooey cheese. If it is your first time eating at Jinye Cafe , please order the baked pork chop rice with tomato sauce. It is like a hug in a bowl. Jinye Cafe has three available tables. Though super simple, the sandwich was tasty. Tong sui is one of my favorite desserts, and theirs was definitely sweet. VERY hit or miss with customer service and order accuracy, but their food is solid when they get it right. There aren't a ton of places in the Boston area that offer traditional HK cafe style food, so we were pleased to find Jinye. I'm a huge fan of their lemongrass chicken rice plate, while my husband is partial for the pork chop with cheese & tomato sauce rice plate. Their milk teas (both Hong Kong and regular) are watery/weak, so I would pass on that. They've messed up our orders on two occasions (one time they forgot a bag with half our order, and the second time they gave the wrong meal altogether). They seem to have issues with inventory management as they are constantly out of ingredients (how do you run out of soup and cheese all the time??). Despite those shortcomings, we find ourselves going back at least once a week, so that should speak volumes about what little they get right. read more

I can't believe I didn't discover Jinye before! I was craving authentic Cantonese food and given how high prices have gotten in Boston's Chinatown, I figured I would search for options in Quincy and found Jinye. Jinye dishes out amazing food for great value. I got the baked curry pork chop with cheese over rice, Hong Kong French toast, and tomato egg over rice for takeout. All their rice dishes come with a side of soup which had some pork ribs, carrot, and potato. I also found the prices here to also be 10-20% cheaper compared to Chinatown counterparts. The highlight is their baked curry pork chop with cheese over rice. Jinye probably has the best iteration of this dish that I've tried in the greater Boston area. It takes awhile to come out because it's made to order but it's sooo worth the wait. I can't wait to come back to try their tomato sauce version of this dish which I heard was also really good. The French Toast is crispy and filled with gooey peanut butter. The Tomato Egg over Rice dish was solid and feels like a nostalgic homemade dish. read more

This is a Hong Kong Style Cafe. It is not authentic but close enough because there is not much of this type of cafe around. Lots of menu selections. Suggestion to order take out because it is a very small place. Our order: Scallion Pancake, Hot & Sour soup, Shanghai Fried Noodle, Baked Pork Chop Rice with Tomato Sauce & Cheese and Baked Yellow Curry Pork Chop Rice. Scallion pancake was thin and crunchy but not too fluffy and didn't come with any sauce. My daughter liked it so no complaint. Hot and Sour soup was very good and good portion for the price. It has a kick but not too spicy that it burns. Thick consistency and good amount of veggies/tofu in the soup. Shanghai Fried Noodle's flavor was tasty. The noodle used was a thick udon so it was little chewy for me. For the baked rice dishes, they are fried pork chop over fried rice topped with sauce and cheese. Then it is baked to brown the cheese/sauce. It also came with a complimentary house soup loaded with veggies. They were delish and actually baked! I had this dish at other places and it is half baked with tasteless "not so fried" rice. This is a dish I will get again! Overall: I will definitely come back to try other menu items. A little hot in the wall located in Wollaston ( Quincy ) area, this tiny place with 3 tables serves Hong Kong style foods feom Rice plates to Noodle soups, from street food appetizers to full size entrees. Menu is extensive and everything is fresh and cooked to order. Their empress chicken is a hot seller and tends to sell out on a daily basis. Portugese pork chop over rice and beef with black pepper sauce over fried noodles are just some of the many crowd pleaser. Baked rice with Portuguese curry was good but take does take more time to makes, required at least 25 minute wait time since it required to bake. The seafood congee was so so. However, the food is still decent and this is now the closest shadow to a 茶餐廳 in Boston since the closing of Yummy Cafe. What's a 茶餐廳 without some Hong Kong style french toast, or 西多士? For 9.50 you would think u get some good food portions. It was dead when I arrive. I got beef and scramble eggs and the beef tasted like it has no hint of flavor. Too much rice and daily soup is just pork broth. Might use it to make some noodles. But I don't see this place lasting long. Owner should sell business. Never be in the food industry. Folks in there have no motivation. Rarely hints of egg too idk this place is not recommended. Hong kong tea is bland. Rather lose $14 to this place than eat here twice. Came here for the first time for a late lunch on Labor Day. Not a real cha cha'an tang as others have mentioned. Ordered the wonton noodle soup, Shanghai Stir Fried Thick Noodle, and Curry Cup (fish balls, pork skin, and radish). Fast and friendly service. The dining area is quite small, for about eight people max. The wonton noodle soup came with lettuce instead of typical choi sum. The Shanghai noodle had lots of cabbage (some of the larger pieces were undercooked and hard). Four stars for the wonton noodle and Shanghai noodle. The curry was somewhat disappointing. It comes a huge bowl of yellow curry sauce for a few fish balls, pork skin and radishes. The curry sauce was very spicy but not flavorful.
