Just ate here and it was amazing. The food was seriously delicious and you can tell everything is made with care. The customer service was even better! Super friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring from the moment we walked in. The menu is super appealing with tons of options, and everything sounded so good it was hard to choose. The fried rice was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly, and the crispy pork chops were the highlight, crunchy on the outside, juicy and tender on the inside. Definitely coming back soon!

Great food. I usually get takeout and they are quick. Prices are reasonable. Feels like home cooking.

This review is based on my takeout order so I didn't eat in just to clarify. The food is super good! I got one of the fried rice dishes and I couldn't stop eating it. My friend got the wonton noodle soup and I liked how they kept the noodles separate from the soup. The store itself was really small but getting our orders was super quick so maybe watch out for space if you're trying to eat in?

Live relatively close to Hancock St, but hadn't tried Jinye Cafe yet. Would definitely come back! My partner and I ordered T8) sandwich w tomato and egg, E1) tapioca w taro sweet soup, and E16) pork chop w cheese and tomato sauce - TASTE: 4/5 - everything hit the spot. Though super simple, the sandwich was tasty. Tong sui is one of my favorite desserts, and theirs was definitely sweet. The pork chop was the star of the show though; all of the cheese and sweet tomato flavors combined well w the rice and pork. Sinful! It also came w soup as an appetizer, which was a nice surprise TEXTURE: 5/5 - the toast was just right, and you can't beat the combo of tapioca and taro. Again, the pork chop was on point w gooey cheese, fried pork, and a base of rice to pull it all together. Couldn't get over how well done it was lol PRICE: 5/5 - our total came out to $31, great value! SERVING SIZE: 4/5 - the sandwich options are definitely light, and the pork chop is a satisfying dinner serving in a large tray SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 5:30pm on a Wednesday and were the only party dining in, though plenty of folks came in and out to grab their takeout. Our food started coming out 15min later, and the staff was friendly ATMOSPHERE: 3/5 - a small, tight space w approx. five tables PARKING: 4/5 - Hancock St has plenty of two-hour free street spots, but can be hit or miss w availability. We got lucky w a spot directly in front of Jinye

Pork Chop with Curry Sauce without cheese

This is a Hong Kong Style Cafe. It is not authentic but close enough because there is not much of this type of cafe around. Lots of menu selections. Suggestion to order take out because it is a very small place. Our order: Scallion Pancake, Hot & Sour soup, Shanghai Fried Noodle, Baked Pork Chop Rice with Tomato Sauce & Cheese and Baked Yellow Curry Pork Chop Rice. Scallion pancake was thin and crunchy but not too fluffy and didn't come with any sauce. My daughter liked it so no complaint. Hot and Sour soup was very good and good portion for the price. It has a kick but not too spicy that it burns. Thick consistency and good amount of veggies/tofu in the soup. Shanghai Fried Noodle's flavor was tasty. The noodle used was a thick udon so it was little chewy for me. For the baked rice dishes, they are fried pork chop over fried rice topped with sauce and cheese. Then it is baked to brown the cheese/sauce. It also came with a complimentary house soup loaded with veggies. They were delish and actually baked! I had this dish at other places and it is half baked with tasteless "not so fried" rice. This is a dish I will get again! Overall: I will definitely come back to try other menu items. There are too many items to try in one visit. I highly recommend the baked rice dish with either sauce and the hot and sour soup.

E16. Pork Chop with Cheese & Tomato Sauce

Ordered two things from this place, and below are bonus came with my food: 1. Tiny facial hair in my park chop over rice 2. Eyelashes on the chicken 3. More and more miscellaneous trashes in the daily soup I have never seen this much "things shouldn't belong in food" items in any restaurant. Bravo,Jinye! just bravo. Would recommended to anyone that wants scavenger hunt.

Chicken chop with cheese & yellow curry

Of note, it was harder to order takeout in English since it is an authentic HK cafe. She also hung up before telling me the cost and how long it would take (took ~45 min, longer than usual for take out). And for people who want to dine in, it seats around 10 people. I got two rice plates for take out- chicken chop with cheese and yellow curry (R21) with fried rice for +$1. It tasted great, more of a guilty pleasure food because the curry was creamy/heavy. And portions are also big (for me it was 2 meals). Will likely be back to try other items!

Beef and Eggs w fried rice - had tons of beef! A lot is hidden under. Salt and Pepper Pork chops are phenomenal. Worth the price and wait.

-good portions and quick service -fair pricing and cheaper than most places that offer similar dishes -food was seasoned very well -fried chicken wings were marinated before frying and were juicy and flavorful (my new favorite place for salt and pepper wings!) -Beef chow fun was well seared and not too salty. Beef was well tenderized, fresh and good quality -Hong Kong tea was too watery. Food options are much better -Concubine chicken isn't dry like most places it's moist and flavorful -Baked pork over fried rice came out piping hot. The fried rice is phenomenal. Next time I will get it a full size fried rice portion.

We ordered a rice roll as usual--the female owner accidentally handed the dish to another table, and it sat there for about five minutes or so, while the couple was talking over the dish. Then the female owner apparently realized the dish was handed to the wrong table, she took it back into the kitchen (as a deception, thinking we wouldn't realize it's the same dish, we saw her through the curtain, she was holding the same dish the whole time--she didn't know we were watching and rightfully suspicious of what she was sneakily doing), then brought it out right back to our table. We did not want to say anything. But it was disgusting, people do spit onto the dish when they talk over it during those five minutes, you know? We were too shy to cause a scene or destroy the long standing relationship. Further, we couldn't afford to let that $12 or so dish go to waste. So we tried eating it. Afterward, we felt so disgusted. And that was the last time we went to Big Fun Cafe. Two years or so ago. Even after learning of its new location in Brookline, we are just so disgusted by the memory of the incident described above -- so we never tried their Brookline location. Note to the owners: for future customers, such mistakes do happen, but please have some integrity and just discard/trash the contaminated dish -- or if you want to be so cheap, eat the contaminated dishes yourself. Don't be so stingy and deceptive so as to hand it to your presumed naive customers. That was extremely disgusting and even two years later, we're still disgusted by it.

Had a long, rough day at work and it hit the spot. Fish was LIGHT, very crispy and fresh. The seasoning and chili peppers were not too spicy and packed with flavor. Grabbed a side of rice to go with it. The cumin lamb was tender, noodles were large flat and had great chew. The flavor depth had salty, spicy, savory... it was just sooo good to slurp! The noodles themselves are perfectly executed and have that amazing bite to them, but unfortunately, the sauce left a little to be desired. Even ordering them with just a "little spice," the flavor profile relies heavily on pure capsaicin heat rather than a deeply seasoned, complex sauce. The popcorn chicken was delicious though. It arrived fresh, piping hot, incredibly crispy, and perfectly seasoned--plus, it provided a much-needed palate cleanser to cool down from the noodle heat! The shop itself is clean and typical of a quick, no-frills, grab-and-go Asian restaurant. While the staff has limited English, they are incredibly sweet, patient, and welcoming.
