A Noodle dish with crayfish separated and added to the noodles with delicious sauce and it was the best noodles I've ever eaten in my life! We also seen the people on Instagram eating the coconut pancake cups shrimp with a piece of lettuce, radishes and carrots we wrapped the whole pancake inside the lettuce and added the fish sauce on top. The waiter Andy was on his game! We just loved the food and told him as we were leaving that we're coming back soon! The restaurant was decorated nicely and the decorations were high end and looked like a professional decorator did the set up and did it just enough. Came on a weekday and place was fairly busy. Unfortunately chef was sick so a few items we wanted to try were unavailable. We were lucky to snag the last lobster roll--which essentially not using butter but an Asian twist with scallions and ginger oil. That was like a "why didn't I think of that" association since ginger and scallions are usually used as a wok fried combo w lobsters at a Chinese restaurant. But good thinking on the part of the chef to use the flavored oil instead. The crawfish noddles and other dishes were good. But what impressed us the most was actually the pho. First timer! Been wanting to come since I read Chef Nguyen was a James Beard finalist. So, let me say that the food is awesome--a bit pricey, but so fresh and interesting! My only issue is how tightly they pack the tables--you literally couldn't share a secret with your date without flanking tables hearing you. If I'd have known, I'd have asked to sit at the bar, which would have been more intimate (so four stars, but food is the bomb). Definitely make reservations--there will be a line at 8 pm. The speakers played 80s hip hop. The place is lively to say the least. We had the duck salad, mussels (ask for an extra order of charred bread WHEN you order--needed to sop up the delicious sauce). It took 15 minutes for extra bread when I realized the two pieces weren't enough. We also tried the beef cheek fried rice, short rib (amazing) and the crawfish noodles. The rice and noodles had fish roe throughout which made for a delightful mouth feel. My date had the lychee martini. I had the lychee mocktail, which was delicious. For dessert, we shared a slice of avocado cheesecake! Odd but totally delicious with a cookie-like crust and ribbon of brown butter buttercream. Chef's kiss all around. Saw videos in TikTok and realized I need to go back and try the non-traditional menu. The seasonal menu is really awesome and shows the creativity of the chef. The hummus is like a deconstructed Vietnamese sandwich that packs a punch of flavor. The bread is grilled nicely and you'll definitely want more bread to use up the hummus. We had tried Le Madeline for dinner several years ago and loved it but wanted to come back for lunch to try their pho and it did not disappoint! It was snowing as a walked in and we were seated by one of the windows- pho tastes better while watching the snow and that's a fact. I got a large bowl of the Pho Dac Biet and it was loaded with all types of beef. There was a lot of thinly sliced beef, long pieces of tripe, soft pieces of tendon swimming in a delicious broth. I also ordered the Imperial Eggrolls which was stuffed with pork, shrimp, mushrooms and noodles. The eggrolls were fried golden and the filling was juicy and tasty. I took my parents here for dinner when they were visiting and it was a 'just ok' experience, marred more by the service than the food. It was on a Sunday night so understandably they were busier. But upon sitting down, it took a considerable amount of time to get our orders taken and water provided (which I had to flag down a waiter twice). I also realized after the fact that my server had given us one less menu which is why I didn't get to order pho or any of the traditional items. That said I did like about half the dishes I ordered. The good ones - beef carpaccio was very flavorful and the coconut cake with shrimp was very aromatic. Just ok - the crawfish noodles were fine, not too memorable. The not so good ones - shaking beef was marinated well but overcooked and difficult to chew and I definitely wouldn't recommend. Was excited to try this place base on influencers reviews. The decor of the restaurant was nice, felt more like a lounge than a pho restaurant. I already knew what I wanted. I came for pho. Decided on the dac biet as it's my go to for all pho restaurants. I use to speedy service, order my bowl and get it within 5 minutes. This one took longer felt like 15-20min. Something I'm not use to at a pho restaurant. I also tried to over a side of thinly sliced onions quickly drenched in vinegar. My waiter said ok. When the pho came it was accompanied by a sad plate of condiments and no onions like I asked. That's how I eat my pho, maybe it's a California thing. Now to the pho. Food seems to be catered towards those with an American palette. Their pho did not pass my test as an Asian and I've had pho many times.

I've been dying to come here since they opened - love to see Vietnamese food getting elevated! We came on a weekend for lunch service - no reservation needed when we went, there were enough tables available for a walk-in. I started the meal with an iced vietnamese coconut coffee and some cha gio - the coffee was creamy but not too sweet or overbearing with the coconut flavor, and the cha gio were fresh out of the fryer-hot, the nuoc mam dipping sauce was well-balanced. We also got the Banh Khot and the Viet-Cajun crawfish noodles. The banh khot was so flavorful, again with some subtle coconut flavor, and it was so fresh and satisfying wrapping it up with the lettuce and herbs and dipping it in the nuoc cham. The noodles were also a hit - the garlicky savory flavor reminded me of some homecooked meal from the past, but elevated with the crawfish and the salmon roe. I would stick with the Le Madeline specials though - my OG Viet mom had the Bun Bo Hue and this was what she had to say about it: "No taste." She tells it like it is. The service was attentive but a bit on the slower side. I can see this place being quite the fun scene at night though, with the nice bar and the fun cocktails on the menu. Hàu Nướng Mỡ Hành (Grilled Oysters) - The Oysters were small but the sauce was good with a little spicy, but it kind of covered up the salty taste of the oysters. Cánh Gà Chiên Nước Mắm (Chicken Wings) - Juicy, crispy, and the sauce was just right, not too sweet. Bò Né (Dodging Beef) - Tender beef, but I prefer Saigon Chicken House in Dorchester more. Bánh Khọt (Coconut Pancakes) - They were delicious without wrapping the veggies and dipped in fish sauce. Việt Cajun Crawfish Noodles - Favorful, not as oily as last time. I dream about the crawfish noodles, creamy with an amazing umami flavor and the egg on top... yum! Authentic Viet cuisine with an Americanized flare. BBH was pretty good, as were the other dishes!

tl;dr A absolutely wonderful experience made possible by highly enjoyable food but even so by the incredibly friendly and warm staff. FOOD: Don't sleep at all on the French onion dip. It was tangy, had the richness that you'd expect but raises to the next level with the caramelized onions and what seem like charred green onions and the Smoky umami flavor to it. The only nitpicks we had was that it was quite salty so it made it hard to go back in multiple dips in a row even though our eyes and hearts wanted to. That and the shrimp chips that came with were quite oily. Frankly, we could have just used a plain warm banh mi baguette as the ideal vehicle to get it into our faces. The lobster roll was a unique take on a lobster roll with fresh forward flavors. The addition of the herbs and greens helped it feel less heavy than the traditional rolls. Hard to say if it's better or worse - just different. The brioche bun was the ideal softness. The garlic noodles with crawfish craw'd into our brains throughout the email, as we kept on going back to the noodles given it's ideal texture of QQ and bounce. When you get a bite with the roe and chives combining with the noodles fresh = bliss. Pro tip, slather some of that french onion dip on the noodles and use that as the vehicle. You're taste buds will thank you. The Bo Luc Lac (shaking beef) had the most tender beef we've ever come across for this dish (here or in Vietnam). Flavor was on point as they didn't marinade or sauce it too sweet (a common issue we run across in the states for Western flavor profiles). Combine that with quality cut of beef used (that isn't too tough or chewy) and we've got a winner. The red cornish hen like rice was just fine so I'd actually see if you could just get plain white rice to let the beef flavor shine (or you know, just eat more noodles!) The banana cheesecake was a clever take on a traditional Che Chuoi dessert. Good dense texture to the cheesecake you definitely get the banana flavor. Make sure you like banana though cause it's not explicitly stated on the menu. SERVICE: But what made the meal feel full of love and care was our server. The server was incredibly friendly, patient, and was just so thoughtful. He answered all our annoying food questions with patience, went above and beyond to ensure my surprise birthday meal for my partner was indeed so, and made the dining experience feel special. I haven't eaten much Vietnamese cuisine so seeing the reviews already I thought this would be a great spot to check out for a date night with my husband. Walking in you are welcomed in by friendly staff and there are options to sit at a table or at the bar. The bar seating is really cool because you can see in the kitchen but from the table we were sitting at, we had a little view as well! For food, we started off with the Uni Crab Toast and smoked wings for small plates. The toast was definitely my favorite thing of the night! The nice warm toast with the contrasting coolness and bold flavor of the crab and sea urchin was just a perfect bite. The wings had a very nice sweet and smokey flavor and were cooked excellently. We then got a bowl of the Cajun Crawfish noodles to share. The noodles were cooked perfectly and everything was paired with this nice savory sauce with hints of sweet in there. I just kept going in for another bite! We rounded it out with the chocolate lava cake. Unfortunately ours was overcooked but it had a very nice chocolate flavor which helped make up for it. Overall this was a great night and I would highly recommend giving this place a try if you're new to Vietnamese food as it is a nice Vietnamese/American fusion. Blew us away! Cold winter night in Boston, and Le Madeline was that cozy dinner spot we were looking for. Getting a reservation for 2 on a Friday night was easy. We were seated promptly with a smile and our server quickly took our order and helped us understand some of the dishes. Food came out one after the other but nothing took too long. Everything was fresh and felt made to order. We tried the chicken wings (the sauce was delectable), the coconut pancakes (the highlight of the evening, wrapped in lettuce and dipped in tangy fish sauce), and the crawfish noodles (plenty of crawfish and with a garlicky buttery flavor). Also ordered the Saigon sunset which was a perfect pairing for our dishes. I'm not going to lie... I am mad at myself! Do you know that amazing-looking duck dish which graces the business front page? Yeah... that one is no more. I was told their menu changes monthly, and once something is discontinued, it is gone forever. Welp, there goes the duck! Another word of advice: do not come here alone. Based on what I tried, it seems the idea is to share... bring AT LEAST one other person if you can. I'm not necessarily discouraging dining alone, though. I had the opportunity to try the Bone Marrow, Cajun Crawfish Noodles, and the Creme Brulee. The Bonfire was the drink of the evening. Bone Marrow (Bánh Mì Tủy Xương) - Why is it that everything bad for you tastes so dang good? The marrow itself was excellent! It was roasted to perfection, was exceptionally savory and fatty, and was not over-seasoned in the slightest. Accompaniments were well done, with different kinds of veggies, herbs, a chicken liver pâté, and some hot peppers for those who (like myself) like heat. My only critique here is that two thin crostinis are not enough. Perhaps this is because I tried to make a sandwich. Reasonable, I think given *how* savory the marrow was. Plus, with a name that translates to "Bone Marrow Bread," the bread is important. Việt Cajun Crawfish Noodles - These were slightly less spectacular than I would have hoped. Don't get me wrong, it was an extremely solid and tasty noodle dish, but that's what it was, a 'noodle dish'. In my opinion, the crawfish got overpowered and wasn't allowed to shine on its own. To the dish's credit, I did greatly enjoy the noodles and found them flavorful, and gently sweet. I also really liked the idea of adding a little salmon roe for flavor and salt (and more would have been nice!) Meanwhile, the option of adding an egg seemed like a good idea at the time but ended up being unnecessary, though this is a matter of preference. Crème Brûlée - this was like a regular C.B., only made with Vietnamese coffee. A solid dessert, and while I enjoyed the addition of coffee, it didn't beat out the traditional vanilla CB. Bonfire - An A-OK cocktail, with good smoky notes from the Mezcal, and a balance of sweetness, acidity, and bitterness. Nothing to write home about, but a solid go-to, like an Old Fashioned, say. What makes this one unique is the Szechuan Buzz Button, which apparently has a numbing effect when eaten. Some people may enjoy this, but I found the numbing effect minimal, a little strange (being outside a dentist's office), and not impacting the experience, other than making the textures of the solid food a little harder to pick up on. The service here is great. It is friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The speed was fine considering how fresh everything came out. The vibe is pleasant, with tastefully thought-out color and decor. Finally, considering the quality, I felt the prices were reasonable, especially with everything getting more expensive. It's a shame that I am leaving the state at the end of this month. However, the good thing is that I look forward to bringing friends here when I return to MA to visit. It was loaded with lots of fresh veggies and noodles. The pork was sweet and tender. Once you combine everything with their fish sauce, every bite is cohesive and delicious. The bone marrow dish is huge, you get two large portions along with some toasted bread and a side of greens. I wish the bread wasn't so charred and oily though. When you combine it with the already fatty bone marrow, it's a bit overwhelmingly greasy. The service seemed great though. The staff checked on us often to ensure we enjoyed everything. We visited on a Tuesday evening which I believe they close the place down only to reservations for their chef inspired fusion prefixed menu. It's not like a chefs tasting menu, you're still able to pick and choose what you want. We decided to try everything on the menu, minus one item that had pork in it. The ambiance of the place was nice, not amazing. The servers were very nice and friendly. The humorous part was our server kept coming back asking if we needed anything else on 3 separate occasions not realizing that we had more food still coming out. Taste wise, a few plates were tasty, a few were "I see what they were trying to do and I appreciate it, just not the most pleasant tasting" however we still finished all the food.
