Can GREAT food & GREAT service still be found at a restaurant? Look no further as you'll find BOTH at Dotty's Kitchen & Raw Bar. Not being from this area, I was very interested to try the food at Dotty's. Not only did it exceed my expectations, I will travel back here for another dinner. What made Dotty's so exceptional....from the bolognese (with homemade pasta), to the smash burger sliders, to the desserts to the out of this world A+ service by Deb and Marina. I asked to speak with the GM - Emily - to congratulate the team at Dotty's. Emily was beyond kind and gracious and thanked me for the feedback. Dotty's is 100% worth the visit. Dotty's is delightful! Everything you want from a restaurant Dotty's has. Formerly known as The Townshend, this Quincy local restaurant is the best place for exceptional service, fantastic food, creative cocktails and am Ambiance that will sure impress any date. This might be my 3rd or 5th review because why not! When you find a place that you love you brag about it. For starters we shared their fried pickles with their homemade ranch dressing. We also love their stuffed dates. For entrees, I had their Salmon which is always cooked to perfection. My husband's had their Steak Frites which he enjoyed very much. Dessert is always a tough choice since all of them are excellent but this time we went with their brownie sundae. After plenty of glasses of wine and some dirty martinis let's just say we didn't want to leave but it was getting late. If you have never been to Dotty's or their other restaurants I highly recommend checking them out! Cheers read more

First off the food is great. From the calamari (no legs) with cherry pepper aioli to bolognese and the salmon were fantastic. The cherry pepper aioli should be bottled. The bolognese had a great depth of flavor. Risotto withe the salmon was lemony and cooked to perfection. And the salmon was perfect. No room for dessert. Server was attentive and knowledgeable. Can't wait to go back. read more

Overall decent food and service in a nice setting! I'm docking one star for the food but it's made up for by a great beer and wine list, great nice-casual ambiance, and great service. Met up with some good friends in Quincy and we're looking for a place to eat. Conveniently located by the Quincy Center stop, this place was great! We were seated quickly without a reservation (though clearly it can get popular, we showed up at 5:30 and by 6 the place was full of reserved parties!) and our server was very helpful. We got the fried calamari and the steak tartare as starters. While the calamari itself was crunchy and nicely lightly battered and fried, I would guesstimate that about 50% of the dish was actually calamari. The rest of the fried bits were carrot coins, lemon slices (with the seeds still in...) and what I think were pieces of poblano peppers. This honestly felt disappointing as the portion was quite small to start, and then for half of it to be miscellaneous fried veggies felt like it wasn't a great deal. The steak tartare was also an extremely tiny portion, with the plate heavily populated by arugula leaves and six tiny toasts. Not the most generous portions here unfortunately. I got the steak frites as my main. The steak itself was presently beautifully with a peppercorn sauce poured over it. However, I was looking for the salt shaker because the steak was quite underseasoned. While it looked like a good medium rare cook (how I ordered it) with a great looking sear, I had quite a bit of chew work to do getting through the gristly bits. The fatty side cap was a bit chewy and could have used some direct searing. The oysters were delicious! Not even a little bit of grit, with a very onion-heavy mignonette as an accompaniment. We didn't order much from the raw bar due to my friends' tastes but I feel like this would probably be the reason I come back another time with different people! I could have definitely been happier with the food here. But again don't sleep on the raw bar and if you're looking for a nice place to hang for an evening, overall great vibes here! read more

We started with a cocktail and the Kokomo's oysters, which are hard to come by on the east coast, and they did not disappoint! Just the right size, sweet and delicious. Drinks were perfectly curated as well. DH had the salmon and I went with the shrimp and grits. I preferred my dish ( the sauce was OMG!), but both were yummy. Our waiter (can't remember his name), was attentive, but not bothersome. One of the best features of Dotty's (IMHO) is that you can park in the garage and walk to the restaurant without ever having to go outside! Which was amazing, since it was raining. I would 100% go back! read more

We discovered the perfect cold weather restaurant that was just amazing. Dotty's is a great place for a seafood American dinner that was charming, delicious food, and wonderful service. "All of the staff members had a Dotty in their family", said our server. Dotty became the right name for the restaurant. And the pulled it off. You look at tasteful decor, period light fixtures and a vibe that feels like home. The food was fantastic and I highly recommend the Thai Curry Cod. Dotty's is hard to find from the street as it's tucked into a corner. You have to pass five guys to get there but it's totally worth it. Can't say enough good things about Dotty's. We'll be coming back! read more

This is a local restaurant with an ambiance and simple decorations. The food was delicious, better than expected, but the kitchen was slow. My friend ordered drinks, but he was disappointed there was no garnish. We ordered: Raw bar - fresh and reasonable price but too bad they don't have Island Creek Oysters (2x each kind) - Prince Caspian, Rocky Nook, Ningret Nectar, Pemaquid, Beau Soilel, and Shigoku Littleneck Cocktail Shrimp Smalls Summer Corn Chowder - the chowder was not creamy like other chowder. It was sweet and had lots of veggies - delicious. Crispy Duck Leg - crispy, juicy, and the meat is so soft - highly recommended Bigs Cajun Shrimp and Grits - too much grits, so I ate mainly the shrimp. Pasta Pescadora - seafood to pasta, everything was so flavorful. Steak frites - the steak was well seasoned and medium rare, just as I like it. When the main dishes started to arrive, I wanted to order crab toast or lobster sliders, but the wait time was longer than I expected, even though the place was empty. The crispy duck leg (15 minutes after we ordered) arrived before the raw seafood (more than 30 minutes after we ordered). The main dishes came after 40 minutes after we ordered. If I am craving raw seafood, I will definitely come back again, try other small plates, and support the local restaurants. read more

Dotty's is consistently good, it's become a bit of a "go to" when I'm in Quincy. The entrance is a bit odd in that you feel like you're walking into an office building or a side door, but once you're inside the ambiance is great. We arrived at 3pm on a Sunday, and were informed the kitchen is on a limited menu between 3-4pm (no entrees) while they prep for the evening shift. We were very hungry so we started with calamari and fried artichokes, both were yummy. Our server, Kayla, was great and got our orders so she could put them in as soon as the kitchen was ready to go. I had the lobster roll, it was good not great - the fries were delicious though. My friend had the smash burger which was also delicious. read more

I was looking for a local spot to bring out of town visitors for some New England seafood and Dotty's was the perfect pick! The staff explained that this restaurant was previously The Townshend, which was a super popular Quincy staple. I never visited under the previous name, but I can't imagine anyone would be disappointed by the new and improved concept! The space is super chic and fun with a laid back, comfortable feel despite some upscale options on the menu. There's tons of fresh seafood to sample, but the menu still had several options for the non-seafood eaters in our group. We kicked things off with a round of drinks. The Maytag Martini was perfect, and my mom also really enjoyed her Passion Fruit Margarita. There's also a solid craft beer selection and extensive wine list that we didn't get into this time around. For the meal itself we started out with some oysters (great local NE selection!) and the lobster slider from the raw bar, plus the heirloom tomato salad which was an absolute home run--the plums mixed in were perfectly ripe and such a tasty and unique way to make this dish stand out. The Bolognese and Pasta Pescadora were probably the favorite entrees at the table, the fresh pasta here is spot on and all the ingredients (including the seafood) are just so fresh and flavorful. I'll definitely be back! read more

I so wish I had taken photos. Dotty's has been on our list to try for a while and after all of this time, it did not disappoint. They offer a great variety of oysters, all of which were delicious. We also enjoyed the salmon tartare from the raw bar. We ordered the broccoli Cesar as our appetizer and it was amazing. I could have snacked on that all night. For dinner we had the Thai Cod Curry which was everything I want in a curry. Lastly, we had the warm brownie for dessert with the brown butter ice cream and salted caramel drizzle. The dessert looked small but honestly it was the perfect size. So rich and SO good! The restaurant was cute and the service was very good as well. I didn't catch our server's name but Shelly stopped by the table and told us about the history of the restaurant and their sister restaurants. We will be sure to check out the other concepts as well. read more

With all the new Quincy restaurants popping up these days, my favorite has got to be Dotty's and it's not because I'm a pescatarian :P We've stopped in twice now and tried a majority of the menu and can vouch that the menu tastes as good as it looks. Get their oysters -- they are phenomenal and come with a few different mignonette varieties along with the traditional cocktail sauce. Our personal faves were the Fried Pickles, Pasta Pescadora, Crispy Duck Leg and the Clam Chowder. The chowder had a really unique smoky taste and if you're craving a southern flare, you won't go wrong with the fried pickles. We also appreciated that they had split our pasta entree without us even asking, which was a nice touch. Service was very warm and attentive and the vibe was a comfortable upscale. Awesome experience and we will be back! read more

Mark my words: no dining or drinking establishment, no matter how popular or iconic, will last forever. I say this because if there's a place you want to try, but keep putting it off... go! It may not be here tomorrow. I bring this up because this was the case with The Townshend which was here before Dotty's. When I finally decided that today's the day, I found it was no more and Dotty's had taken its place. Yet, Dotty's fit the bill very nicely, arguably even better! I had the opportunity to try: - Salmon Crudo - Tuna Tartare - 1x each oysters - Clam Chowder - Means of Preservation (cocktail) The Salmon Crudo was admirable. The fish was high quality, and the other ingredients did a fine job adding further dimensions: heat from the jalapeño, sweetness from the blood orange, and freshness from the radish. Ordinarily this is where I would use a metaphor about a fireworks show and tell you how 1+1=3. Unfortunately this wasn't the case here. My main issue with the dish is the different elements did not combine/marry well. It was like putting a piece of salmon and blood orange (for e.g.) in my mouth at the same time. Nothing wrong, but also not greater than the sum of its parts. A few lesser notes: I found the salt level a smidge high, which might explain why the passion fruit purée did not make itself known. For the Tuna Tartare, this dish too was respectable, but fell short of excellence. The combination of tuna and cucumber was in perfect amounts, and the heat from the sriracha was subtle, pleasant, and came with a slight delay - perfect! My critique here is the salt level was high, and this overpowered the otherwise subtle flavors of the tuna. The oysters were great. Dotty's has a nice selection, and these were of medium-large size, varied, and only one had a tiny piece of cartilage. The Clam Chowder was thoroughly unremarkable, and nothing to write home about. I liked the fresh potatoes (not glassy) and I wish it were a bit more clammy. A bit out of left field, the Means of Preservation was fantastic! This cocktail was smooth as silk, and while it doesn't taste boozy, it absolutely is - I was feeling the effects halfway through! It has a light sweetness, and hints of celery and grapefruit (more on the nose than taste). Even if you're not a gin drinker, I wholeheartedly recommend you try this. The service was polite and speedy, though I highly suggest a reservation, especially if you're planning on coming on a weekend night. The vibe inside is modern, warm, and welcoming. Being a seafood, it isn't the cheapest option, but not overpriced in my opinion. read more

Checked out Dotty's last week for their crab dip but ended up ordering tons of other dishes. Everything we ate was delish! Service was exceptional. We made reservation but still had to wait about 40 mins to be seated. To make up for the wait, the server offered us complimentary app and drinks. The restaurant isn't big but has a raw bar and about 10-12 tables. I recommend mushroom toast, steamed clams and duck leg confit! read more

Excellent food, delicious cocktails and thoughtful staff. This is where you go to feel taken care of.

Came for a quick weeknight dinner. Cute and small restaurant. Sat on high tops, stool was a little uncomfortable. I love the flowers, candle and pink dinnerware. Perfect for a casual date. The service was fine. Ordered kumamoto and Dixon point oysters, which were sweet and fresh. They have a variety and great descriptions of each oyster. Salmon crudo was overly salted and fish was not fresh, fishy and chewy. The yogurt did not pair well and overall was not good. For drinks we ordered passion fruit margaritas and pineapple daiquiris, which were refreshing. For dinner, I got steak frites. The steak was very dry, bland, and chewy. There was no salt or seasoning and asked for steak sauce to make it better and there was nothing they could offer me. The fries taste like Burger King fries and the salad was barely dressed. Also got heirloom tomato salad with grilled salmon added. My friend liked this. For dessert, we got the warm brownie. Definitely get this if you have a sweet tooth. It was overly sweet, so sharing this is a good idea or maybe get key lime pie instead. Bill was $190 with tip. I didn't feel like this meal was worth that. read more

We had the Tuna tartare, bacon wrapped dates, and steak tartare. Tuna was bland - could have used some zip in the form of a sauce or marinade or even if the chips had been flavored (truffle, salt/pepper...something), the dates were delish - very rich/decadent! Steak tartare was better than tuna - had a shmear under it that gave a little more flavor - I would again suggest flavored chips, or perhaps a flatbread with the steak tartare? Love the new look and we look forward to trying some of the other things on the menu (just please don't serve chips w/ everything!) Also - husband had the Old Fashioned and sub'd the Rye out - said it was REALLY good. read more

Coming here the food and service were excellent! My husband and I got a salmon tartare appetizer to start and as two people who have never eaten tartare before it was bright, mustardy and full of flavor. I got the bolognese and my husband got their smash burger which were delicious and of course we had to end it off with their chocolatey warm brownie dessert. Went today for their great $2.00 oyster special. Service and oysters were very good, however, $15 each for a simple Mimosa is excessive. Drifters right up the street has a bucket of Mimosas for $38 for which they give u an entire bottle of bubbly with orange juice on the side, it made 7 good pour Mimosas. Maybe Dotty's should revisit their drink prices. JMO read more

Nice new (few months am told) restaurant. Am here in Quincy MA visiting my daughter and her BF, great to know it's just 5 minute walk from the apartment. We had late dinner as my flight was delayed but the good thing is that this restaurant is opened until 10pm. Ambiance starts from outside, it has outside seating, lights strewn from the inside can be seen from large windows. Service was great, we were immediately seated, we were the only ones who sat inside as others preferred the outdoors. They had cocktail and non-alcoholic menu. Their food menu had smalls/appetizers, bugs/entrees. Price is more on the higher than average but worth it.service was warm and attentive. read more

Food and service were great. We wanted a raw bar for our anniversary so we found Dotty's. Parking was a breeze and didn't even have to walk outside fro, the garage. We elected to eat inside. My wife has a couple allergies and they were very accommodating. I got arancini for an appetizer and she got the seasonal green salad. The arancini were very tasty and very cheesy. The salad was good with wasabi peas and pickled onions, which my wife loves. For the main, we got the grande platter with a dozen oysters, 4 little necks, 4 jumbo shrimp, bluefish dip, tuna tartare, and some salmon crudo. I saw someone else complain the salmon was too salty, but while it had plenty of salt, I think it was just the right amount. Everything tasted great and I especially loved the homemade potato chips instead of bread or crackers. Will totally go back agin. read more

Back in the Q for one night only and trusted the Yelp reviews. It didn't disappoint. Experienced dinner at the bar solo. Oysters were, somehow, the best I've ever had and I've eaten a lot. Crispy duck leg was delicious! Even had some bluefish dip thanks to the raving fans of Dotty's sitting next to me. My main was the steak frites and was easy top 3 ever had. Cooked to medium rare exactly and a perfect balance of outside char/inside juicy. Service was impeccable and the maybe one small timing faux pax was acknowledged by Mr Barkeep without me mentioning anything. It may have resulted in a splash more vino. Highly recommend. read more

We had a wonderful dinner with delicious food, excellent service, and calm, classy ambiance. Perfect night! We had the fried pickles, beets salad, halibut with bok choy and mushrooms over ginger carrot puree, salmon over risotto, and a chocolate tart for dessert. Every dish was top notch. All of the dishes had little touches that added lots of flavor, depth (?), and fun to make the experience special. For example, the beets salad had a fried basil leaf on top and was served over cranberry ricotta. My wife said that the salmon dish was the best she had ever had. It's served with a very light frizzy salad topped with a citrus dressing and small orange slices that is an excellent balance for the salmon. Meanwhile the halibut special had the perfect pairing of flavors, the tangy ginger carrot puree and this delish umami (?) flavor in the mushrooms and bok choy to pair with the halibut. The whole restaurant had a friendly, chilled out vibe and the service was friendly, helpful and informative but also gave us space to enjoy our evening. We recently ate at Mason's and Dotty's was far better for more and tastier food. (I'm sure Mason's makes a great steak, but I'm not paying $75+ for that.) I had planned on getting the fried chicken sando because the pictures looks amazing and can't wait to go back to try it :-) read more

Fabulous food, creative cocktails and superb service - you find all this and more at Dotty's. We started with a Cobra Fang and Adams Green cocktail both of which were excellent, followed by a sampling of fresh oysters and salmon crudo, which were super fresh and flavorful. along with the mushroom toast, which is a must try! We split the lobster paccheri served in a lobster bisque sauce that was almost too good to share. Finally we capped the night off with an espresso martini paired with a perfectly sized key lime pie.
