a tiny korean restaurant... very busy and cozy feel. the food was great and their portions were big. i personally enjoyed their side dishes a lot; they have unique side dishes that were scrumptious. i had the hand-pulled dough soup with perilla seed (들깨수제비) and the steamed pork with napa + soybean paste stew combo (보쌈 + 된장찌개). the hand-pulled dough soup was really amazing; everyone in my table wanted to try mine. the bossam and soybean stew were also amazing :') I took a point off only because I feel the ambiance wasn't that great... it can feel stuffy and crowded and you can occasionally hear the cooks cursing at each other inside the kitchen which made me uncomfortable. other than that, the food here is great! read more

We ate here last night with my parents who were visiting from Georgia. My parents are Korean make a lot of these dishes themselves regularly. We were all extremely impressed with the food and hospitality that we experienced during our meal. You know a restaurant is great when the owner goes around the tables asking how the meal was. Waitstaff were attentive and quick with the service. We ordered several soups including the chicken stew, cabbage shortrib stew and rice cake soup. All three were very flavorful with a good assortment of side dishes. We also ordered a Galbi jjim large plate and the staff came over to trim the meat off the ribs prior to serving the dish. Meat was tender and sauce was plentiful. Five star experience and a great Korean food meal in Chino Hills! read more

If you have kids, I don't recommend this restaurant. I went to dinner with my husband and our 3-year-old toddler, and after finishing our meal, I left a 20% tip. However, the waitress was visibly upset because my toddler dropped some food on the floor. She even said, "Oh my God" to my face. When I offered to clean the table, she just walked away. I ended up cleaning the table and floor with wipes, but the floor was already dirty when we sat down. Later, another waitress came over and offered to clean, but by that time, I had already done it myself. Honestly, the restaurant is always dirty. I didn't even want to use their bathroom, and the high chair was filthy, with hair and leftover food stuck to it. The disposable utensils they brought were also dirty, and the fork's tip was broken. read more

Black cod is very good but is it worth going back to be treated that way, going out to eat is to be a wonderful experience, she ruined our lunch by her nastiness. Definitely overrated. It's just OK, and you don't need to stand in line for this. The food itself appears to be catered towards the high blood pressure crowd - salty, one-dimensional, and overly spiced. The Fermented Kimchi Pork dish is one of their main entrees, and the first and overwhelming taste you get from it is sugar. There's spicy lost in there somewhere. The Soybean Stew does slightly better, but is still mostly just salt. The Spicy Seafood Noodles are one of the better balanced dishes here, but once again, falls to the same kind of faults. Don't get the Perilla Leaf Noodles if you are simply curious or feeling brave/lucky. I'm not sure if I can recommend it to people who know exactly what it is. For the atmosphere, you can take your pick between obnoxious Korean old men demanding to know when their order will be taken, the guy who refuses to stifle his cough while sitting 30cm from your food, party girls whose laughter you can hear from across the tiny restaurant, and the occasional roar from the private planes that fly overhead. read more

This place is absolutely delicious and a true taste of a homecooked meal. You know when you walk into a restaurant and it's filled with elderly people ( who choose to eat out vs. cook korean food) it must be good. I don't recommend going around 3 p.m. on a weekday, though... I think it's the employee lunch time. The restaurant was pretty much packed to capacity but with the manager, waitress and kitchen staff all eating lunch, it was a bit unprofessional as to how they were mid bite and serving and preoccupied ( as it was hard to get their attention and the food, even side dishes took time to come out). All that to say, I still gave it 5 stars because the banchan/side dishes tasted clean and were good. The dishes we ordered: bibimbap and roe soup were ample in serving size and seasoned very well. I even got a 2nd bowl of rice! I want to go back and try their other dishes. They seem to specialize in a lot of fish dishes, which is right up my alley of preferences. The location is in a random plaza, and there are extra parking spots in the back as well. The restaurant is small, so I don't recommend it for groups larger than 4 or 6 max.. We paid $50.99 for the dish with 3 pieces of fish, and the rest was tofu, potato, and Korean radish. On top of that, the service was terrible. The waitress just brought us the food and did not come back and ask if we needed anything else. She was too busy serving a group of people who came after us. There was a second waitress and she was setting up the empty tables. We took the napkins from the other table and she saw what we were doing and she still did not ask us if we needed anything. Small mom/pop restaurant where they're few tables but gets extremely busy. There's constantly phone calls of to go orders and asking how long is the wait and placing food orders. While having lunch at 10:30a.m. all of 9 tables were taken and by the time we left, the list grew and there were 9 sets of people waiting outside. Patient is virtue I suppose. There's a Ssambap Combo (with soup, beef, & vegetable wrap) for $22-23 and there's another combo: Dishes Combo for $30ish, (minus the wrap) We figured the latter was for two people considering the price was way more and left out the wrap...but couldn't really get an idea of what the difference was due to language barrier. Decided on the Marinated Beef + Soybean soup. (Dishes combo). The beef was definitely made for two but the soup was a tiny single serve bowl. For $30ish...they should definitely make a bigger soup portion? But that's just my opinion. The barley water was good at least. Not sure if they weren't happy with us sharing a $30 combo, but the sides were also very single person portions (smaller than your similar Korean establishments). Overall quality was fine but portion didn't quite match the price. Maybe Korean soup places are just getting more expensive in general. Ordered the raw spicy marinated crab and found thread/wiring around one of the crabs. Today is a rainy day all day. We decided to have korean seafood pancake and found home style tiny restaurant in buena park thru Yelp. Dissapointed a lot about the pancake first. The pancake falls apart and not much added seafood for 14.99. We ordered kimchi stew but tasted kimchi soup. It doesn't taste at all. They have lots of side dishes but not outstanding. How come the yelpers gave more than 4 stars??? I am wondering. Not happy!!! Ordered a bean sprout soup and a ssambap combo. The prices are up from 2020 menu on yelp which seems to be a trend with any other restaurants in current COVID era. Wasn't my first time here to I know what their food is like. However, if you ask me I won't be coming back anymore. Far left in the picture is the bean sprout soup which was okay. Nothing fancy as it is not hard to make it. The right of it seems to be the ssambap combo which is supposed to include the soybean paste stew. Can you find it? Yeah. . That small thing next to the rice is it. REALLY? That tiny size is part of the menu? If you'd dine in, would you still serve that amount to your customers and not get questioned for how small that is? Boiling pork slices were dry. For the price of $23 and the amount of food you get, the combo is VERY OVERPRICED. Not even sure what else is part of the combo besides the bean paste soup and the pork slices. The space is super tiny and your clothes will smell like korean food, but the food is worth it. I love their pork belly and octopus bibimbap. If you're not used to authentic korean food that includes fermented foods and seafood, this probably isn't for you. The food was excellent! My friends and I went to have dinner. We ordered Eun Dae Gu fish, Hangahri soo je bi, Agu fish dish, and seafood pancake. Their portions were huge and all the dishes were delicious. Even the side dishes were very good. I would love to just add a bowl if rice to eat with their side dishes too. It was a very small restaurant so you have to wait quite a bit if you have 5 or more in your party but well worth the wait. The serving ladies were very quick and very friendly. Also the dishes came out pretty quickly too. They give you the menu and you can order ahead while waiting so your dish comes out quickly too.
