Service was friendly. No wait on a Saturday night. Parking easy. I think we ordered the wrong thing. The large intestine was way too fatty. I liked that it was served on a grill. Friends enjoyed the beef tartare. I enjoyed the ban chan (side dishes) especially the chives and white kim chi. Added a kimchi cold noodle and that was the star of dinner. We had a restaurant that we liked to frequent at closer to home, but they have recently closed down, so I've been in search of other places. The service was good, but language was a little bit of a barrier. We asked for the bean spouts to be separated and at first I didn't think he understood, but at the end all the vegetables were separated which was better than including the bean spouts. The intestines was good, but I would have preferred them to be crispier, but he put out the flames early. We ordered an a La carte order of the pork belly, which was very good. I'd been craving intestines, so I did a quick Yelp search and found this spot. It reminded me of a traditional Korean sidewalk pub: small, cozy, with about 6 to 7 tables. We ordered the Medium 3 Combo meal, which included small intestine, large intestine, and tripe, and it came with steamed egg and either soup/kimchi on the side. Ordered rice to go with it which was perfect but I do wish they had hot barley tea. The gentleman came out and torched the meat for a few mins, then left them to continue grilling on the cast iron plate with gel fuel. Everything was delicious! I was so impressed with the food and service here during COVID-19 when they offered outdoor dining. My hubby and I shared the medium Gopchang Combo $56 where you get to choose up to three types of beef intestines. We chose two large intestines and one small intestine. The sizzling plate it comes in has potatoes, bell peppers, onions, garlic, mushroom slices, and pineapple. On the side, you get steamed egg and a choice between kimchi or soybean stew - we opted for the kimchi stew. In addition, there are pickled veggies and three types of sauces to go along with the intestines. Everything tasted so good together and the intestines were clean and had just the right amount of chew in my opinion. Service was phenomenal, but this could be due to us being the only customers at the time. Our server refilled napkins, sides, and cooked/flipped the food on our sizzling plate frequently. I first came with friends to test the waters and it absolutely did not disappoint so I had to bring my mother, twice! There's also pork belly for that one friend who's a "texture" person but we all know dense nutrients and flavor is packed into the selection they have here. Furthermore, they've got amazing simple banchan (side dishes) to compliment the meat. My favorite is the fresh garlic chives but they've got white kimchi, onions, and pickled vegetables (jangajji). Not to mention their cheesy steamed egg and the soybean/kimchi stews that come with the combination order. The options: I've only tried their tripe, small intestine, and large entail. The tripe is more rough to eat but if you like chewy, that's the one! Small intestine is flavor packed and what you see mostly in the attached photo. Large entail is full of fat cut into little round circles and lots of flavor too. If you like the fat on steak, the large entail is the one for you. SIDE NOTES: there is pork belly available for those who don't eat offal. The combo order comes with bell peppers, onions, bean sprouts, garlic, mushrooms, and pineapple on the grill! I've been to oppa gopchang before, but the gopchang there was so grimy and tough, but the gopchang, daechang and makchang were so chewy, tender and delicious! $70 for the medium combo is not bad at all and my friend and I couldn't even finish it. The portion size was good and the extra veggies, potato and pineapple added extra flavor. We had complete control over how well down we wanted our meat to be cooked and could ask for extra ban chan (side dishes). I know some bbq places charge heavily just for a bowl of rice, but a bowl of rice here was only $1! The owner was so sweet and gave us good tips on how to eat everything.
