I'm a huge fan of Asian buffets and any buffets in general. This review is strictly towards buffets and not comparing the food to the restaurant-style cuisine because we all know, it's different. Let me say, I had no idea this buffet was upgraded because the last time I came here was a long time ago in which I barely remember. I came here last week with my wife and parents and we all had a good time. The food was nice and hot and good tasting. My favorites here are their fried chicken, duck, chow mein, sui mai, seafood, and even their garlic bread. I'm not sure if the menu rotates or if it differs from Lunch to Dinner but overall, the food is good tasting and hardy. They have most of what regular Asian buffets would have which is good. There is plenty of seating, the dishes are refilled on time so you don't have to wait too long, the employees are either constantly cleaning up the tables and sweeping or their refilling empty dish trays at the food area, etc. This place is better than Newark buffet on all levels. There's no waiting for a table, the parking is better, the food is better, if not, the same quality, etc. They move fast here and I like that. I'm a fan! This place has been around for years and it was my Dads favorite place to eat. The price has increased but which restaurant hasn't? We decided to eat here after 4 years and it's pretty much the same. It has a good selection of seafood, Chinese dishes, sushi and a Mongolian bar which you can choose your toppings and they will stir fry it to order. I love their sesame balls and soft serve icecream. This AYCE place gets busy and the service is fast and they clear out dishes on your table in a timely manner. $3o plus each person doesn't cover a drink so just stick with water so you don't full fast! read more

We came here for lunch, it's $19.99 per person. We also got 1 soda (free refills) for $3.25. It's your typical Chinese buffet - nothing fancy, but it gets the job done if you're hungry. I'm usually a fan of the sushi collection, but there's mostly California rolls - with 1 nigiri collection and no sashimi. I believe there's more sushi choices for dinner, which is understandable as it's more expensive. The dinner also had crab legs. We came on a Sunday for lunch, and this time around, they had the crab legs! The crab legs were yummy and probs my fave item. My second fave item was the steamed fish (had a ginger/scallion flavor). I have absolutely no complaints about this buffet. I have been to so many buffets in my lifetime and this one has the best quality food I've had in a while. The seafood is fresh. This place was packed out. I am assuming it's because of lent. It took us probably about 25 minutes to get seated, but it was well worth the wait. The ambience is very loud, very busy. Your standard Chinese buffet. Simple and casual setting. A few things I appreciate are the hand sanitizer and food gloves for customers to use when they first walk in. Unfortunately, not everyone uses them. My pet peeve with buffets is the business can't force customers to wash or sanitize their hands and everyone touches the utensils to pick up food at the buffet line. For that reason alone, I'm not a big fan of buffets. You also can't stop customers who drop a utensil on the floor from putting it back in the food tray. Yes, I've seen that happen here too sadly. You also can't stop little kids at the frozen yogurt machine from accidentally picking up two ice cream cones stuck together, pulling one off with their dirty hands, and putting it back...and yes, I've seen that too. The benefits of eating at a buffet though are the ample selection; you get to try a little bit of everything. They have a decent selection of items for the weekday lunch price, although at times I question the cleanliness of buffet restaurants (but that's more the fault of patrons). This restaurant compared to most Chinese buffet places in the Bay Area, I would say is slightly above average. There are a lot of tables and this place does get busy during the lunch hour. read more

Honestly, not bad at all. To be fair, the quality is not the best. There is a very limited variety of food, but there is variety. Service was great -- considering you don't need that much service at a buffet restaurant, it was still good! Our drink orders were taken quickly and our dirty plates were taken promptly. It is really hectic here because of the busy foot traffic and the tightly squeezed tables, but honestly it was not bad at all for what I expected it to be! Lots of parking BUT good luck on trying to find a spot especially when it's the weekend or if some event or holiday is happening, even with lots of different stores, restaurants & whatever else is in the plaza, it gets pretty packed & busy. Food is mostly fresh & tasty again depending on the time of day you go & of course the great thing is they keep a majority of the food filled when it runs low. Service is super busy but, it's good because there's always a server that tends to you on a regular basis, so when your drinks need refilling, their on it. I mean, you can probably find better buffets out there but this place serves decent food though appearance wise needs some work. I was scared to try the raw fish but it was actually delicious and tasted fresh. The customer service needs some work. They're not necessarily rude just very quiet and distant. While Milpitas Buffet isn't the best, it certainly does the job when you have a huge appetite to fill and are stuck with feeding picky eaters. This particular buffet will give you the biggest bang for your buck... Lunch will set you back anywhere from $19-22 and dinner is a solid $30- which is a lot less than the other buffets in the area. MB offers the usual: chow mein, fried rice, salad/fruit bar, sushi, sweets, and even dumpling. Seafood lovers will enjoy oysters, crawfish, crab legs, clams, and baked mussels. Service can be hit or miss depending on who your server is. The older ladies are more grumpier, less friendly, but prompt when it comes to clearing dirty plates. Do not be alarmed if you get the feeling of being rushed, its kind of what they do regardless of promoting a time limit of 120 mins per party. This buffet was soooo fire everything there was amazing!! Chow mein, chicken wings, french fries, sushi, even dessert! We went on a weekend so it was super crowded, but understandable because there are not many good buffets left in the world. The parking lot is big with many businesses around there, so you won't really struggle but still be careful with so many people walking around there. Also keep in mind that the later you go, the more expensive it'll be. Same thing if you leave a lot of food on your plates, you will be charged. Besides that, i would've given the place five stars if it wasn't for our server. He was being great & very attentive at first, but for some reason later on towards the end of our stay, he started acting differently & more rude so that made our tip go down..we still tipped some regardless of course because c'mon. There was 6 of us so we made our experience well worthwhile. The buffalo chicken wings were elite, even the regular fried wings were amazing, & they even had roasted corn! The ice cream was delicious, & they even have a spot where you pack your bowl with noodles & meats & veggies, you leave it with them & in about 10-15 minutes you go back & your bowl will be cooked! I've been coming here for over 10 years now, and I think its a good place to eat once in a while. As far as I can remember the food selection has been exactly the same but a few months ago (August 2023) I was surprised to see that they had a new item ( I think it was red bean cake) but it was gone by the next time I went there and I haven't seen it since. Overall, the food is what you can expect from a buffet but I do think it's good. If you come here on a weekend I would recommend doing so in the morning or in the evening. It's the busiest between 12:00pm-5:00pm and you might have to wait 20-30 minutes to be seated. It's also gets pretty loud during these times so if you prefer a quieter eating experience definitely go during a less busy time. read more

The staff just watches you eat 2 feet away from the table and they pretty much rushed us out as they brought the tab 15 minutes after we sat down. I'd have given it a 4 star in the past given the varieties of food and service, I don't think I'd pay the dinner pricing for the crab. The quality has gone way down here . If you're not willing to pay the expensive prices for lunch or dinner at say Tomi for example and are willing to go the extra miles for a cheaper buffet, then Milpitas Buffet is for you. It's not flashy or fancy or anything but it gets the job done especially for lunch which is only around 20 bucks per adult and 33 bucks per adult for dinner which isn't bad considering today's economy and inflation. The food is run of the mill and it's your typical all you can eat Chinese style buffet, the sushi isn't as various or as tasty as other buffets like Tomi but it's not inedible or anything which is something at least The service is good since last time I was there, the server my table got was nice attentive and always made sure to ask for refills and clean up our tables of empty finished plates The place is also packed but as long as you don't get there in the rush hours, you shouldn't be waiting too long for a table, the ambiance isn't bad either I will say, some things I don't like about this place are some items are dinner only and the all day prices for holidays can be a turn off for some since it can go to upwards of between around 30-35 bucks per adult before tax of course Overall not bad but not anything great either, it's more so decent and gets the job done in my book read more

Pretty good: * Chicken on stick (right after they grill it) * Chinese food * Fried stuff * Steam fish with sesame oil sauce * Fried shrimp (taste fresh) * Warm apple pie then make it ala mode (ice cream) * Mongolian style options Not so good are the following: - Dim sum items - Sushi bar - Soup options - Some fish options - Crab is a bit mushy inside I see their prices creeping up but I still had a decent Asian seafood lunch for about $18/pp. A lot of the items you see are like from those 3 item combo places, but here you get shrimp and fish fried or in a few different styles. For example you can have a typical sit down Chinese steam fish that cost $40 or more per order but it's all you can eat here. They have decent clams but too much trouble for me as they are so little. I prefer Tomi sushi, but this is a good change of pace. I will come back for the seafood options, Chinese and Mongolian bbq. Service is mediocre. Seating is cramped. This is my second visit to Milpitas Buffet in four months. I highly recommend going for weekday lunchtime if you can. We went on a Tuesday at 12:30pm. It was quite busy, but the wait time was short, a few minutes to clear off the tables and they are very fast at getting people in and out, I never felt rushed as I have elsewhere. The food was kept hot and the kitchen brought out freshly cooked pans regularly. I've been here for late dinner and there was still a good variety, but less overall compared to lunch, understandably. For $19.99 and BTW seniors get $2 off that, it's a great deal for a great meal! I posted one photo only as we were pressed for time and we were hungry and wanted to try as much as we could. My first and second plates were the proteins. Then I did a vegetable, carb plate and last a fruit and sweets plate. I like their soft serve ice cream, I did the chocolate on a cone. A great buffet means...it tastes good or at least decent, nothing was bad, you leave there full, not craving anything more, your stomach and taste buds are satisfied. Typical Asian buffet food, a lot of fried and greasy choices. Didn't eat the sushi. Some entrees just did not look trust worthy enough to try. What I ate that was good: Baked mussels, walnut shrimp, crab, cream cheese Rangoon. We came on a Saturday around 4:30PM to celebrate my grandmas bday and it was soooooo packed. We waited about 20 minutes to get seated. There is no enforcement of Covid measures. They provide gloves and masks but no worker in there is checking if you have gloves on when you scoop your food. There is barely space to walk, all the chairs are basically back to back. The floor is so filthy with food under the tables, the bathroom is dirty. Workers are rude and you just see it in there face they want you to eat and go. I will most likely not be coming back here again during peak times. Still a pretty ok place to eat at! The food selection feels pretty much the same. You've got your savory stuff, sea foods, take-out foods, desserts, sushi in the back, and so on. The seafood itself is pretty good! I still lowkey question how sanitary this place is (I mean, buffet) buuuuut I guess as long as you give your food a once-over you should be fine. That's just me though, so feel free to take what I said with hefty salt lol. You don't really interact with the staff here (at least, I didn't) as much save for being seated and the occasional check-in for water refills, so nothing notable to say here.
