Combo deal #1 with 2 lbs for crawfish, 1lb of clams, and sausages (plus potatoes but I'm not s huge fan of potatoes)
Mini V.

I am so disappointed with how much this place has gone downhill. I always check if they have live crawfish before ordering, and despite being told yes, we are consistently served frozen crawfish. Since crawfish is an expensive treat, being misled into spending money on something that isn't fresh is completely unacceptable.

The wife really likes this place. When I walked in I noticed they have sharks hanging from the wall and people have written all over them, pretty cool inside. When got the spicy cajun blend. Very spicy! Very thing was really good. We left full and ready for a nap. My only issue was the staff could have checked on us more. They were nice and all but waited a while for refills. Parking was ok.

We visited on a Friday night, there's always plenty of parking, and we got seated right away. We ordered the Combo #1 with shrimp, clams, and crawfish with corn and potatoes. I enjoyed the combo but wished there was more sauce/stronger flavors in the sauce (I do enjoy the sauce more with the salt, pepper, and lemon). We also ordered the Cajun fries which were 5/5; I liked the strong flavors which paired well with the acidity of the ketchup. The garlic noodles were good and savory and had many cloves of garlic for a good balance of flavors. The staff was sort of attentive. The ambiance was chill and busy.

Food is average. We got their house sauce. A bit runny to my liking, and I wish it could be a bit more savory/flavorful. Staffs are nice and we got seat very fast. Store is well lit and clean.

Wanted to give an upated review as of 08/2025. This place got a little better, but please do not order their garlic noodles. It sucks. As for the seafood boil, we got a mix of all the seasonings, medium spicy and chose the 1st combo (2 lbs shrimp 1 lb crawfish). It was enough to feed 4 girls! The spice was there and this time it wasn't super super watery. I would say there are definitely better seafood boil places like cajun bistro 7, the crab bay, and clawshack. However if you're lazy to drive to these places and kickin crab happens to be near you.... just know it wouldn't hit the same! Service was ok, we weren't really checked on too much and only had our water refilled once. The employees there didn't seem too happy to work there. It was a Friday night as well and the place was half empty. So there's your sign that it's prob not as good as other places lol

Supposedly a pound of shrimp

I USUALLY CHOOSE THIS PLACE INSTEAD OF BOILING CRAB BUT DAM they say this a pound of shrimp which is obserd I asked a worker about it and he said yea when you order head off it's less shrimp . How does that work so your telling me we get 1pound of shrimp if we order with head on And if we order head off we basically get 0.5 a pound never coming back her don't recommend if you want to get ripped off

The benefits lots of parking lots of space inside that's pretty much it. The downside the cost is quite high for the combo and my friend found a rock inside of his meal when we asked the server they said that it was common and that happens often. Who says that....

9pm close
Terry W.

It's closing at 10pm, but we arrived at 9pm, and we closed early because there were no customers. We drove an hour, but it'll be frozen again

Unfortunately, this place is just not what it used to be. The last time I was here I noticed a change in the flavor of the food, but was hoping that it was a fluke and there was someone new in the kitchen. But unfortunately, after coming back again yesterday I realized that the food here really just isn't that great anymore. Our first red flag should have been when we came on a Saturday afternoon and there was absolutely no one else inside. This place used to be so busy! When we came we told them we had a party of 9, so they had us sit at one of their larger tables in one of the corners. After about 15 mins of sitting there, we were asked if we could move because the table was only Reserved for larger parties. The table being only for larger parties is not a problem of course, but why have us sit there in the first place then? Also, let's be serious, there was no larger party coming anytime soon! Now the food... it was just a huge disappointment. We ordered 4 bags of seafood in total and each bag was seriously so BLAND. We even let our seafood sit in the bag for a bit hoping it would soak up some of the flavor, but unfortunately there was no flavor to soak up. The potato was also so undercooked that we left it in the bag to hopefully steam some more, but by the end of the meal it was still so hard. I also used to think that this place had the best garlic noodles, but you guessed it, it was also flavorless and lacked the deliciousness it used to have. As you can see in the photo my rice also looked so old and was hard/burnt in some places. The service was also sub-par. For a place that only had less than 5 tables seated, you think the staff would be more attentive, but they were not. Only once did we have someone come by to refill our water the whole time we were there. We even waited around so long for someone to bring the check that we just went up and paid. Won't be coming back anytime soon.

Roselyn D.

I love how the garlic noodles have so many garlic chunks. Definitely get it if you love garlic! We got the combo #1 ($60) to share between 2 ppl and it was the perfect amount of food with some leftover. Surprisingly a lot of seating/no wait and a nice place for a last minute dinner

Spoiled bag of crawfish. Most likely dead before cooking

Ask the Community - The Kickin' Crab

Do they have online order system? Or only phone call?

i tried calling to confirm hours of operation, they just pick the phone up and hang up. very unprofessional. ive worked for a busy restaurant before and was still able to pick up the phone and take orders.

Will they open today for pickup?

Yes they're open. But they don't answer the phone. So good luck. And for some reason we got there around 7:30 and they said dining is closed already even if it says they're open til 9.

Their phone number never works! Are they closed for good?

They are open. They are quite busy, so they don't pick up the phone. You can hear it constantly ringing in the background 😂

Are u open now outdoor dining?

Because of the location, I don't think they'll do outdoor dining unfortunately.

Are they having any outdoor dining or in-door dining?

They provided indoor dining on November 15th, not sure about now because of new COVID protocols.

Does anyone know if they're offering takeout during shelter-in-place?

Yes! Last Sunday, my son called in the order and we drove to pick it up. Everything was ready and absolutely delicious! They even gave us the butcher paper they use to cover the tables. We covered our table and enjoyed the meal in the backyard!

Still open for take out?

Yes, they offer takeout

What's the best seasoning?

I didn't like it at all. Seems like they only use Cajun powder on everything!

Are crabs cooked cajun only or there are other flavors to cook them with?

Yap, there are many sauce & flavors a viable beside Cajun. They make their own "Kickin" sauce too.

How much is it for a pound of shrimp?

Market price - varies

Do they peel the shrimp for you?

Unfortunately no They don't.. but it was still delicious

Do they do pick up ordering?

Yea

Are you able to order headless shrimp?

not sure

Can I make reservation, we have 7 people?

I don't think they take reservations.

How much are garlic noodles?

$10.99 as of right now on their website. You can go to their website and click on the location you wish to visit and download their menu, the prices are on there as well for that specific location.

Does the Kickin' Crab charge extra for parties over eight because the hostess told us they charged an 18% extra?

Yes

I think it's one of the more consistent options around here! I'm a shrimp-head-on girlie, so the shrimp never misses. Spice tip: Medium has just a little kick, in my opinion, so go spicy if you want some real heat! The lunch deal is an incredible value -- 1 lb of shrimp, 1 half corn, 2 sausage pieces, and 2 potato halves. Super filling and satisfying without breaking the bank. Their happy hour deals are also generous, so definitely check those out. The restaurant is spacious, with tons of seating, a big bar, and EDM playing in the background. It's lively and seems great for larger groups, whether it's family on the weekend or coworkers grabbing lunch. I haven't sat at the bar yet, but it looks like a fun time! Service is quick, and the servers are easy to flag down. The place has also been clean every time I've visited, without the sticky tables and chairs you sometimes get at seafood boil spots. It can get busy, but I went on a Friday around 1 PM and was seated promptly. Pro tip: check or join the Yelp waitlist ahead of time. There's plenty of parking here.

You can get Pacific oysters for $1 each and Kumamotos for $2 each all day on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Trust me, it even beats buying them at wholesalers like K&C Seafood since you still have to shuck them yourself--and shucking oysters is no fun my husband told me. Make sure to catch their Happy Hour between 3 PM and 6 PM, Monday-Friday, for great deals on tap beers. Personally, I'm obsessed with their Modelo Michelada--the perfect blend of chamoy and salt on the rim makes it so refreshing. They also have excellent draft options like Pacifico or a Blood Orange beer that my friend highly recommends for a refreshing happy hour drink. Plus, the service here is consistently fantastic; our servers are always friendly, quick, and attentive! Pro-tip: It can take a little while for the oysters to come out since they are shucked fresh, so I highly recommend ordering a quick appetizer and grabbing some happy hour drinks to enjoy while you wait!

After today's visit, though... I finally understand why the second location closed. Ordered: Shackie's Sauce (Hot) Shrimp & Mussels Combo Snow Crab Clusters Garlic Noodles Garlic Fries The seafood boil was nowhere near the quality it used to be. The corn tasted old, the shrimp and snow crab didn't taste fresh, and the snow crab clusters had barely any meat. By the time I cracked everything open, it felt like there was more shell than seafood. The mussel shells even had barnacles on them, which I've never seen here before. It made the seafood feel like it hadn't been cleaned as well as it should have. The garlic fries were crispy, but that's it. It was weird--I could see the garlic and was literally eating it, yet there was no garlic flavor. The garlic noodles used to be one of my favorite items because they were bold and packed with garlic. Now they've definitely toned the flavor down, and they're just not the same anymore. It's honestly disappointing because this place used to be one of my favorite seafood spots. The food quality has clearly declined while the prices have continued to go up. I hope they can get back to what made this place so good, but based on today's experience, I can't recommend it anymore.

I was greeted by a really nice young guy (didn't get his name) who handed me a menu to look at. I combed over the menu and decided to order shrimp and added corn, potato, and side of steamed rice. You're able to choose from a variety of sauces and can choose your own spice level. I decided to go with their house sauce which i felt was a fusion of Cajun and garlic butter sauce; with a medium spice level. I do want to add the shrimp doesn't have a set price. The price is dependent on the Market price which turned out to be 15.99 for a pound of shrimp. You don't get to choose headless, the shrimp comes in its full form; which is fine by me. But I know some people prefer shrimp without the head on. I'd like to add this place has very reasonable prices for their boils; compared to a lot of their competitors Ie. Boiling crab. The boil it's self was a 4/5 with the house sauce and all the added sides. The shrimp were cooked to perfection and wasn't overcooked. The servers can be extremely rude and for no reason, but I try to be tolerable and understanding. It's no wonder there is such high turnover because I never see the same service staff twice. Anyway, I think these guys recently had a change in ownership because the food tastes better than what I can remember. During our most recent visit, our party of 3 ordered an entire spread of crawfish, clams, shrimp, garlic noodles, raw oysters, fries, etc. and just went in. You can elect for your choice for sauce, and spice level -- and add any preferred extras like corn, sausages, and potatoes. The sauce and flavors have drastically improved compared to previous dine in experiences. This would be a good choice for a Cajun crawfish and seafood boil treat, but I can't stand on the service you'll receive -- hit or miss. Bonus: bring your own seafood dipping sauce. My girl made a spicy tamarind sauce perfect for seafood and I took a bottle with me for dipping.

Unfortunately, I was disappointed with both the Jambalaya and the Red Beans & Rice. Both dishes were surprisingly bland and lacked the depth of flavor I was expecting. The Red Beans & Rice was similarly underwhelming...very mild and without enough seasoning or complexity to bring everything together. I really wanted to enjoy the food, but both dishes fell flat for me. When I think of Cajun and Creole-inspired food, I expect bold, savory flavors with plenty of character, and unfortunately this DoorDash order missed the mark. If you're craving red beans and rice and don't have the time to make it at home, make the trip to The Bywater in Los Gatos. Or, if you just want a punch of flavor... go to Popeyes. LOL.
