The food here is a 10/5. Seriously, I've been eating crawfish regularly in San Jose for over 20 years and have never had a sauce like the Sweet California. It's so unique and addicting with a perfect sweetness to it that isn't overwhelming with a slight creaminess and not as savory as most other seafood boils. The crawfish they use is amazing as well, it must be a different kind from most others because the meat is more tender and sweet. I have no problem sucking the claw meat out where as other restaurants I have to dig inside the claw to pull out the meat. Soooo good and I visit as often as I can. Friendly service. My friend and I were sooo excited to come here since we came here before and the food was very good. We came in on Wednesday at around 6pm and there was no wait and only 2 other parties inside, however it did take 40 min for the food to come out. We ordered the sweet California 3 pound combo- it was definitely NOT what we got last time. Instead of a garlic buttery sweet sauce it was just straight up CLUMPS of mayo- I even had to double check with the staff that it was sweet California. Yes it's open late and sometimes they can run out of crawfish but it's sooo good. The place is a little small but it's a great place to go and destroy seafood. I really enjoy the shrimp and the crawfish here. The crawfish are usually fresh year round, which is uncommon for cajun places. The shrimp are also quite large. You do get less since it's still all by the pound (but that's less pealing!). They have a variety of different sauces here, but my go to is the sweet California sauce. It's creamy, sweet, but also has a nice balance of salt to it. The creaminess alone makes this place stand out from other cajun places, as their sauce only offer the typical cajun/spices. They offer three different spice level, and we tend to get the medium, which is not tooo spicy. Pro tip: we normally ask for our shrimp/cajun in different bags so we can get more sauce. They don't always give a lot of sauce. We also like their corn dish. Can't recall the name right now, but it's chopped up corn with some baby shrimp. This place is also open until 4am, per Yelp! If it's up to me I just get up and leave, go some places that have what you want but since my son recommended this so we stayed. This is a cajun crawfish spot, but with a vietnamese twist & they've got a variety of dishes that you won't typically find at a cajun spot. She was creative and came by the table to "promote" a special promotion they were having & our friends bought the idea haha! They were also kind enough to let us keep our cake in the fridge. However, I must note that there are some things that I disliked, such as the amount of flies in the restaurant, because the door was propped open and there was no air circulation, so it was a bit warm. Also, I had found two strands of men's hair in our seafood boil bag, which obviously made us question their cleanliness. Regardless, we were troopers and still marched on and finished all of the food. This is my all time favorite seafood boil spot. I practically live here since I go maybe 2-3x a week. I am here all the time even the server knows exactly what I want. Cajun Bistro has generally been consistent but today it felt off. Service was delayed significantly (maybe a lot of to-go orders?) and it took a while for my party to get our food after having already ordered while waiting for a table outside. One of our orders came to our table with loose hairs multiple times--we left feeling like it wasn't worth the wait today. read more

The most important thing to know is that they prioritize to go orders. For reference how long we waited, we got there at 11:45 got seated right away and took our order right then and there. We ended up getting the food at 1:15, that's over an hour wait. To be honest, if they hired one or two more people it woulda been fine. The place was small and everyone's is pretty close to each other. The one thing I did like tho is the gloves that they provide, the thick boxed ones. The flavor was actually pretty good, but we asked for there to be no mayo and they still put mayo. I don't I'll be dining here ever again, but maybe to go. read more
