I really wanted to try this place after seeing how busy it always is and hearing that their California Sweet sauce was what they were known for. We ordered 4 lbs of shrimp, mussels, clams, and crawfish, along with grilled oysters on the half shell, garlic noodles, and rice. The garlic noodles came out first, and unfortunately they were pretty underwhelming. There were plenty of chunks of garlic, but the noodles themselves weren't very garlicky and were noticeably lacking salt and overall flavor. The grilled oysters were actually pretty good. They were topped with a generous amount of fried shallots, which added a nice crunch and flavor. The seafood boil, however, was probably one of the most disappointing boils I've had. We ordered the California Sweet sauce since that's what I had heard they were known for, but the sauce barely tasted like anything. It was so bland that I actually asked our waitress if this was really the sauce, and she confirmed that it was. We later realized they had completely missed our pound of clams, so they remade part of the order. I asked if they could make that bag with the Louisiana Hot sauce instead. When it arrived, the sauce still looked somewhat similar to the California Sweet, but it had noticeably more seasoning and, most importantly, actually had flavor. That made me wonder if something was off with our first bag. The first sauce had essentially no seasoning and was so bland that when we poured everything out, the sauce literally looked like beaten eggs. Since they had also forgotten the clams, I'm not sure if the first bag was made correctly at all. Anyways - I came here to try their seafood boils, but also learned that they have Vietnamese dishes too. One other thing to note, I don't see this often in restaurants in South Bay, but this place is opened until 4am. Anyway, I got the 3 lb combo to share. You can have your pick between crawfish, manila clam, shrimp and mussels for the 3lb. I got 1lb crawfish, 1lb manila clam, and 1lb shrimp. It also came with 2 corns, 2 potatoes and 4 pieces of sausage. Got it in the louisiana style sauce at the spicy level. The sauce was okay, had lots of fried garlic with some sweetness in the sauce and the spice wasn't that spicy for me even though it said spicy. What was nice is that their crawfish is fresh - not frozen. You can definitely tell this when eating the boil. The crawfish tails had a nice texture and good flavor, however they are a bit small. I read from other reviews that they have fresh crawfish year round - but definitely recommend calling them ahead of time to confirm if they have fresh ones or not. The shrimp were large, head on shrimp - but definitely not fresh, they were frozen. What a wonderful treat! I was visiting friends out in San Jose and we were looking for a Cajun spot. Fortunately, it was open late and was next to some boba as well. There was plenty of parking spots in the plaza and the restaurant was a little loud, but it was a small place for a bunch of people dining in on a late evening. The service was great. They were checking in whenever we were ready to order and answering all of our questions. Because our group was so large, we did have to squish into a small table, but it did not make the food any less delicious. They had a special where we could choose 4 pounds of any types of shrimp, mussels, crawfish, clam. This was a great deal, and I wish I knew to order more. Once we were finished with this 4 pounds... We ordered some more. I believe we ordered with the Louisiana sauce at medium and it was to die for. We also tried the sweet California, but I thought it was just OK. To be honest, it was a little bit too sweet for me, but everyone's taste differ. We also ordered the basil clams and they were also delicious but they did come pretty late into a meal. My friends that don't eat seafood, enjoyed the lamb chops, the chicken wings, the garlic noodles and some other dishes. All in all, I would definitely recommend coming here. Stopped into this spot because me and my partner in crime were hungry after a long day of ocean dwelling. Both being huge fans of seafood and Cajun food, I looked up what was close by on the way home. This spot was small and jam packed busy at almost 9pm when we got there. Moderately decorated but not really Cajun themed 3/5. I ordered mussels and he ordered shrimp, plus some wings on the side. The service was quick, almost too quick, and I felt a bit rushed to order. We came in on Wednesday at around 6pm and there was no wait and only 2 other parties inside, however it did take 40 min for the food to come out. We ordered the sweet California 3 pound combo- it was definitely NOT what we got last time. Instead of a garlic buttery sweet sauce it was just straight up CLUMPS of mayo- I even had to double check with the staff that it was sweet California. If you're a seafood boil lover, this spot needs to be on your radar. The seafood was not only fresh and flavorful -- the portion sizes are massive, especially for the price you're paying. We got 4 lb combo with 2 lbs shrimp and 2lbs crawfish, garlic noodles, grilled oysters and cajun fries which was the perfect amount of food for five people. We came here on a whim because the reviews seemed great, but unfortunately our experience was really disappointing. We ordered a few pounds of crawfish, garlic noodles, and bò lúc lắc. It took over an hour just to get the garlic noodles. The bò lúc lắc came out about 10 minutes later, and then we waited another 15 minutes for the crawfish. Altogether, our food took close to 1.5 hours, which is honestly unacceptable for a casual restaurant. You would think crawfish would be one of the quicker dishes to come out. We had originally planned to order even more crawfish afterward so it would come out fresh, but after seeing how long everything was taking, we decided to cancel that idea entirely. To make things worse, the crawfish sauce was overloaded with mayo, which was such an odd combination and not enjoyable at all. The food itself definitely did not justify the long wait. The restaurant felt cramped, outdated, and more like a bar than a place to comfortably eat dinner. The servers were young and seemed overwhelmed or unsure of what was going on most of the time. Meanwhile, they kept seating more tables and taking orders even though the kitchen was clearly struggling to keep up. We even overheard other tables canceling their food because of the wait times. Overall, this was not a good experience and definitely not somewhere I would return to. The next day we ended up going to Cap't Louis instead to finally satisfy the crawfish craving. read more

I recommend this place for your seafood boil fix. I've tried so many spots and this one always hits for me. You definitely get your money's worth. I always get the 4 pound combo and it comes with corn sausage and potatoes I usually do 2 pounds of shrimp, 1 pound of crawfish and 1 pound of mussels. I get the sweet California as the sauce and I get it extra spicy. This place gets busy so I definitely recommend to call ahead for pick up. Or if you plan on dining in make sure you get there early because it's very small and gets packed up fast especially around dinner time. read more

cajun bistro is such a bay area classic, and for good reason! i've tried quite a few of their dishes: the garlic noodles, sweet potato fries, fish sauce wings, lemon pepper wings, and of course the seafood boil. of course their seafood boil is the star of the show and the reason i (and assumedly everyone else) keep coming back. i get the 30 lb combo with the spicy sweet california and it's so delicious. it has a kick but there's also a sweetness to it. the seafood is always boiled perfectly and the food comes out pretty fast each time. as for their other dishes, they're pleasant but nothing groundbreaking. their wings are really crispy and light in flavor, and the garlic noodles are on the more creamy side. their service is normally just fine but when i went yesterday, the girl working was so sweet and attentive. highly recommend if you're from the south bay and haven't tried cajun bistro yet, or if you're visiting san jose and looking for places to eat! read more
