This has to be one of my favorite Korean BBQ places in San Jose ,'possibly the South Bay. The meat is typically good, sometimes you get blah meat but 98% of the meat is awesome. I have had 1-2 bad experiences with air headed servers but literally the other experiences are absolutely amazing. I love how kind people are and how hard they work. Go for hot pot. The Korean bbq meat isn't bad but if you get thick cut the scissors barely work. Their hot pot is so good though. They tend to forget orders but it's okay cause you can just order more using the iPad. Or just order in bulk. On weekends they get really busy so the sauce bar can get hard to clean throughout the night. Tables are lined up next to each other so it's great for larger parties but it's best to send someone to put their name on the waitlist cause there can be quite the wait. read more

I feel like in San Jose, there's the big three (in terms of popularity): Goku, Gen, and Q-Pot, and that's how I would rank them: 1. Goku 2. Gen 3. Q-pot, with Q-Pot being the worst (not saying any of those 3 is the best KBBQ in San Jose, definitely not, don't attack me please) Service was great. Went for a late Monday lunch and the servers were attentive and food came out fast. Ambiance is nice with upbeat music playing (though it wasn't censored, which doesn't matter to me but if you don't want your kids to hear cursing then that's something to note I suppose) The actual food itself was not great. Japchae was okay, not amazing. Beef bulgogi was solid but also did not blow me away. Sal Chi Sal was somewhat chewy, but not bad. Definitely needed the sauce. What really confused me was the Chadol. The first round was what I expected. Thinly sliced, good amount of marbling, nice and tender. The subsequent rounds were slightly brown in certain parts of the meat and didn't have as good marbling and were much chewier after being cooked. My friend and I even thought we may have received the wrong order. But after a few more rounds of ordering the chadol and still being brown and chewy, I hypothesized that it was freezer burn and it was just really old meat. Now, the meat being frozen is far from surprising and I am aware that many other kbbq restaurants freeze the meat too, but to freeze and hold onto the meat until it gets freezer burnt and is chewy is not a good look. I have had other kbbq restaurants not even defrost their brisket and serve it still frozen and it still looks and tastes better than what I had Unfortunately, due to the lack of quality of the food at a price of ~$27 after tax per person for lunch (if I'm remembering right), I have to give Q-Pot a 3/10. While I didn't explore the full menu, I feel like you need to have a good brisket as a baseline, and they failed to do that. We went to Qpot for my husband's birthday yesterday and he got 50% off his meal! When you walk into Qpot there is an iPad to add yourself to the list and you get a text when your table is ready. We were greeted warmly by not only the young lady who sat us but our waiter as well. We quickly received our drinks and the food came out right away. One of my favorite things about Qpot is the sauce bar, which is always kept clean and fully stocked. All of the meats were very well marinated and seasoned. I had a massive craving for Korean BBQ which absolutely hit the spot. We ordered pretty much everything off the menu, and every single thing was delicious. Let's talk about the Sauce Bar, this is my favorite part! I love being able to head to the bar and mix up my own "special sauce." Unlimited Everything! Aside from the alcohol of course, everything is unlimited. It's the perfect place to go when you're starving and want to try a bit of everything and the price was decent. The staff here is amazing. They were constantly checking up on us, making sure we had what we needed, and they changed our grill frequently without us even having to ask. It makes the whole experience so much smoother. Thank goodness I was with my sister and my girlfriend because they did all the heavy lifting with the cooking! I love this place because you offer on a tablet and the server brings the food. That way you don't have to wait to place your next order. I've been coming here for about 4 years, not as often as before, but it's still a place my family and I go to. The food is usually good, and overall it's a nice spot to eat together. I wouldn't say it's the best compared to other Korean BBQ places, but it has been consistent enough for us to keep coming back. The main thing that needs improvement is the service. The hosts are usually fine, but the servers are often hard to find, and sometimes the attitude does not feel very welcoming. A few times we wanted to order alcohol, but when we asked, we were told they would get our server, and then no one really came back. I also remember one visit where someone was cleaning near our booth and sprayed very close to where we were sitting, and it got near my mom's drink and our food. I like that they do not skimp on ingredients, have a generous sauce bar and don't have unnecessary rules that prevent you from having a good time. I love the QR ordering system. What I'd REALLY love for them to work on is cleanliness and hygiene. I have visited them more than 5 times now and the hygience scene has only deteriorated. Dirty I pads, food stains all around, hot pot remote controls just unclean and hanging off the tables. On my last visit, one of the temperature remote controls was just hanging off from the table exposing the velcro and the strong velcro ruined my sequined top. Also, sometimes their tom yum soup flavor can be really watered down. So I order another one from the I pad and mix in some more ingredients. Make some strong tom yum broth you guys!! I've been coming to Q-POT for a couple years now and I feel like the quality of service has lowered since my past times visiting. I really like how you're able to join the waitlist through the Yelp Mobile app, it makes it real easy to secure our seats around our anticipated time. I had a few bumps during my dine in experience. When we got directed to our table I felt as if our Host didn't thoroughly explain the menu/how it works, that well. As we had a party of 10 it was a little disappointing having to figure out (our Host didn't let us know) we were pretty much limited to 4 meat orders per round which wasn't really an issue since tables have a tablet to order food and we didn't have to wait or call anyone to reorder. I think the quality of meats are pretty decent and the quantity Q-POT gives per order is plenty as well. For the restaurant being one of the better-end places (in my opinion), I'm really hoping quality of service in those smaller gestures, improves over time. read more

Review for AYCE Hot Pot! We came on a Friday night at around 10 PM, and we had to wait around 10 minutes. We chose the AYCE hot pot, however, they also have a KBBQ option, or an option to do both! Quality: I chose the Tonkatsu broth, and this was a solid and tasty broth. The meats were all fresh and good quality, as well as the seafood. Mostly, we got the beef belly, which was probably our favorite. There was also a wide selection of vegetables and other add ons like lobster balls, all of which were good in quality. There is a sauce bar where you can create your own sauce, as well as a dessert section with fresh fruits and cake. Service: staff was very friendly! We really enjoyed the lemon cake they had for dessert, and our waiter gave us a bunch of extra cake to go! Restaurant ambiance: the restaurant was adequately clean, but could be improved. For example, food residues on the seat and floor are common for AYCE KBBQ restaurants, but could be more well maintained in between customer visits. I recently had QPot for my graduation party, and everyone loved the experience! The servers are attentive, all the stations were clean, and service was extremely quick! Especially since we were coming with a big group and some elderly, the food definitely beats its competing kbbq places. The meats are marinated where it's not too salty, which gets really nauseating for an AYCE. There were a lot of good options, like the steak and brisket. The banchan could be better, sauce station plentiful, but the caveat of good options is the seafood. We ordered oysters and clams, which were pungent and didn't taste very fresh. This was my second time visiting Q-Pot and it was as busy as when I visited last year. Goku is usually my go-to as it's closer to where I live. However, the quality at Q-Pot is much better than Goku and the prices are comparable. $32.99 for AYCE as of 1/4/2025. There is an iPad to add yourself to the Yelp Waitlist and the estimated wait times aren't always correct. For us, a party of 3, visiting at around 5PM on a Saturday (which we thought was early), we were told it would be a 1hour+ wait. We had no issue with waiting and actually only waited about 25 minutes before being seated. The iPad ordering system is very efficient and also comes with pictures of what each item is. I much prefer this ordering method versus having to order with a waiter. Our server (I didn't catch her name, but she was a nice young lady) was very attentive, changed our grill without us needing to hail her down, and keep our drinks filled. The brisket/beef belly quality was questionable when we visited because the meat was tough af... Very unusual for thinly sliced meat. At certain points in our meal, we believe they gave us tongue instead of what we actually ordered. The banchans aren't anything to write home about and they honestly didn't look the freshest. The DIY sauce bar could've been better kept and cleaned more frequently, but what can you do. Ventilation is not the best and you can expect to smell afterwards, but this is KBBQ we're reviewing. We were seated right by the entryway on the left side of the restaurant and got a waft of cold air every time the door opened.
