Fish and chips

Rosy's Fish City has been on my food destination list for a while. I absolutely love supporting small local restaurants, take me to any hole-in-the-wall as long as the food is great... sadly this place was a miss for me. I'm hoping it was an off day or maybe I just didn't order the right thing. We came on a weekday night with the family, spacious dining area with lots of seating. Restaurant was clean and we were greeted warmly. We ordered the fish tacos, clam chowder, garlic bread and the fish and chips plate. Everything just didn't taste right and we weren't impressed. It's not that it wasn't fresh, it just left a coating of oil in our mouth and the food didn't taste seasoned. The clam chowder was chalky and lumpy, the fish and chips didn't have a crisp bite, and the coleslaw was a hot mess. The garlic bread was hard as a rock, I think only one slice out of the whole basket was edible. The fish tacos were basic but not tasty. The quality of the food was lacking and I'm so sad because I really wanted to love it here. Our bill felt pricey for what we were served and the majority of our group would not come back. I'd like to give it another try and see if maybe I order something else if I'd change my mind, but for now, this place did not live up to the hype.

The good : Customer service is friendly Lots of seating available inside Plenty of parking available Credit card and debit card accepted They do offer lunch specials They do offer a discount if you are paying cash There are 2 TVs showing soccer game Prices are reasonable The bad: It's HOT INSIDE THIS RESTAURANT The server himself was sweating and that was gross $4 service fee for using a credit card (see receipt) Margarita was not good at all Food did not seem seasoned very bland I got the loaded clam chowder bowl/lobster bowl Paid $37 Clam chowder tasted like flour mixed with milk Lobster was not seasoned Shrimps are super tiny And I didn't except French fries in the bread bowl I came I ate I yelped On to the next

I was pleasantly surprised with the service and food during our visit. The waiter was over the top helpful and was ready to get us what we need when we asked. The ambiance was a bit off in this place, there is a random bar towards the back of the restaurant and a couple tvs scattered throughout. It was a bit dingy, but we didn't mind. We ordered the fish and chips. The fish was okay, but the fries were definitely overcooked. We also tried the fish tacos, they were very hearty! There was an abundance of fish and slaw on the taco. I apprecaited the tortillas that held up to the food and didn't fall apart. The potato wedges were good. They have an expansive menu, worth a trip back to check out something else.

Loved the fish and chips, tasted very fresh. Also very quick and nice service. My hubby ordered clam chowder in a bowl.

Not too bad for a Friday evening! not busy at all, BUT as it later, 6ish it started to get busy with seems like the Regular Customers. This has been around for quite a while & I've been going here with my parents when I was little, I'm glad that it stayed in business even after Covid. This place is definitely a family oriented restaurant. Everyone that works in this place is super friendly & happy to answer any question you have about the menu, they re also On It with refilling & checking in on us to see if we're good & if we need anything. Lots to choose from on the menu, so it could be a little overwhelming but, I guess you'll have to go & know what your craving, that way you don't just start ordering everything and anything on the menu. The food very flavorful & pricing is not too bad for the portion sizes.

Finally got a chance to check this place out. The service was friendly but a little slow. There is ample parking in back. The interior is spacious with plenty of seating. We thought the claim chowder was just ok. The bread and the lobster was very good.

I kept seeing this place on Instagram and decided to give it a try. There's a large parking lot in the back, which is convenient. The restaurant itself is small, and seating is self-serve when you walk in. However, with minimal staff, service was noticeably slow. I ordered the clam chowder, Cajun crab, and pasta with vegetables. Unfortunately, the food didn't taste fresh, and the flavors were underwhelming. The crab had a strong, putrid ammonia smell, making it completely inedible. I sent it back and chose not to order anything else. My date had fish and chips with a side of clam chowder. The chowder in the bread bowl was decent, but the fish lacked seasoning--overall, just okay. We also ordered margaritas, which tasted like overly sweet Slurpees. The server later explained that they don't use hard liquor, only wine, which explained the odd slushy taste. It felt a bit misleading, but we paid and left. Overall, the experience was disappointing, and I wouldn't return.

Mom & pop Seafood spot right on Story Road. Lots of regulars come here, so you know it's good food. They have good music playing and there are many TVS to watch sports.

Finally got to go in and try Rosy's. I've only tried the fish and chips thru delivery and it was perfect for me. This time GF and I did dine in for lunch. We ordered one the lunch special which was an a seafood platter. It came with lobster tail, grilled beef nacho fries, shrimp, cheesy bread and clam chowder. Nothing on the platter to rave about it was just ok. I went for the fish and chips lunch special which fish is on point fries was ok. Rosy herself I believe served us and place is actually roomy, but doesn't seem so from outside.

I've lived near for the past few years and I've always by this place. I decided to finally give this place a try. I love the complimentary garlic bread. Snapper Veracruz (3/5): This comes with a tomato sauce. I dislike tomatoes for it didn't sit too well with me, but the fish was good and great with the garlic bread.

We have been wanting to try this place and we finally did. There was plenty of parking in the back of the building. We were seated right away, but we went on a day that was 90 degrees and I am not sure if they have ac, but it was hot in there. I got a piña colada and it was good. The calamari was also good. The fish tacos were salmon, which was a first for me and the salmon was dry so I couldn't finish two of them. Since it was hot in there I couldn't enjoy the clam chowder, so I wouldn't know if it was good or not. The service was ok. When we got there, it was only one waiter. I will probably be back but get a different dish.

Visible from the busy street, Rosy's is well known in the neighborhood and for some the place to stop by for lunch or dinner. Rosy's has a large Menu that includes hot or cold seafood creations, pastas, steaks, caldos, veggies & chowder. We enjoyed the 7 Mares Caldo, Fish & Chips, and Clam Chowder so I can dip my toasted bread. On another occasion we shared the Fish & Chips family platter over some cold beverages. Gals work hard to take care of you while the chef is whipping up so good plates! Dining area can accommodate larger groups with family style platters and parking is located in the back. We will stop by again

The food was very good we have had this at a few other places in San Jose but this is the most…read morecrispy one we had. The vegetables and the sauce pair really well with it. We tried the original and taro and thought both were very good! If you are looking for like an egg with crispy yumminess i highly recommend. It's located in the little food hall and is very cute with other restraints here! Will definitely come back!

Can you easily make Bột Chiên at home?…read more Yes with store bought flour cakes. Does it come out bomb? Not if I'm making it! I found Bột Chiên on Yelp trending as a hot and new business. With French and Chinese influences, Bột Chiên is a Viet street food consisting of crispy flour cakes mixed with eggs and served with crack sauce (soy based). Sadly, it doesn't exist in the city (to my knowledge) and the closest thing is at Red Bowl in Daly City. It's alright but not nearly as good as the ones in E Man Jose. Bột Chiên is located inside the Lion Plaza food court towards the back, near the restrooms. M E N U Specialty - Bột Chiên (flour cakes): Regular, taro, and mozzarella. They also have a handful of fried seafood dishes, bò kho (beef stew), bò tái chanh (beef carpaccio), and papaya salad. Free hot tea. Prices include tax. Cash, Zelle, Venmo, and Cash app are accepted. F O O D * Bò Tái Chanh: Viet Beef Carpaccio ($12): https://tinyurl.com/4xwhjd69 Standard - thin, lean cuts of beef topped with crushed peanuts, red onions, and herbs. Comes undressed with lime and side of punchy nước chấm. * Bột Chiên Khoai Môn: Taro Fried Flour Cakes ($14): https://tinyurl.com/mry9yfxx Great contrasting textures - crunchy-chewy taro flour cakes against the soft eggs and fresh crispness of the shredded green papaya. It was delicious with the savory, sweet, and tangy crack sauce and đồ chua (pickled carrot + daikon). To nitpick, I wish the flour cakes were hot (seemed like it was cooked ahead). Like another reviewer, I found it odd that it's topped with croutons instead of fried pork fat, cost saving measure? S E R V I C E Fast and friendly. Order was ready in about 5 minutes. A M B I A N C E OG food court. You come for the food not the vibes. Restroom requires a code. Overall, tasty bột chiên that's def worth a try when in Lion Plaza!
