Came to Newark Buffet to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday. Sure, she could have gone anywhere else but to her, Newark Buffet checks off all of her cravings in one place. Win Win, right?? Here you will find a number of items ranging from your typical Chinese food, an assortment of sushi, hot soups, BYO Mongolian noodle station, fresh fruit, & a variety of desserts. I'm typically not a fan of buffets but even I was able to find a few things I enjoyed. Some of the standout items IMO: -Crawfish -Boiled Sea Snails -Imitation Crab & Egg Drop Soup -Fried Chicken -Grilled Fish Customer service was on point- nothing overbearing but absolutely attentive in the staff clearing our plates in a timely manner. Everyone was friendly and I'd like to say a majority of our party left happy. 4 stars overall.

It's been years since we've been back here. We came here since the price was $14-$16/person. On Valentine day this year, the whole family decided to come here for Chinese food. The group was 22 people. There is no reservation so one of us had to come at 4PM to be on the list for 6PM. The line is so long and people are patiently waiting for good food. The price on this special day is $35/person. Yes, it's a $900 meal. There are quite a few dishes for everyone to enjoy, the nice thing is every dish is actually tasty, not bland at all. I started with some sashimi, salmon, tuna and yellow tail. The rolls are soggy and not crunchy due to being out so long or the seaweed wraps not too crunchy. The chicken wings are my favorite, very hot and tasty. The oysters in sauce are great too. I'm sure there are something good for everyone regardless how picky they are. The hot and sour soup I like. The fruit and dessert bar has plenty of things to choose from. The ice cream station is crowded with kids and adults too. There's a cook to order station like in many Mongolian buffet, you choose your noodles, meats, seafood, veggies and they will stir fry for you which is excellent. There are clams, shrimps, snow crab legs which are gone very quickly but refilled fast too. Anyhow, for a few people the $35 is good if you all like these food, but for 20-22 people, $900 can order many excellent dishes in a good Chinese restaurant. We may not be back here for another fee years although the food is great the service is very attentive and fast.

    Pretty decent buffet food

I'm down here with my crew on location in the East Bay Fremont area and it's quitin time, so we need to find food for dinner. I always favored buffets for these occasions with multiple people with different tastes, cause everybody gets what they want for a reasonable price. So we pull into this Newark Buffet. From the name you can't tell it's Chinese, but it is. Not like Happy garden or something. We get seated just fine and we all get just water to drink. Buffets are instant food, no waiting to get orders taken or waiting for the food to arrive to the table, just go up and load up your plate! The food here is pretty much standard Chinese buffet selection, with all the standard dishes, like broccoli beef, the general and his chicken along with seafood shell fish, like clams and mussels. All the food was tasty and still hot, no real orphan dishes, you know, the ones that nobody wants and just sits there unwanted? Desserts were the standard almond cookies and some cake like things I didn't try. Everybody on the crew was happy and filled up and ready for another work day tomorrow.

Wait time was 20 minutes. Food selection and service was average. Oyster tray never replenished during our visit.

Solid buffet; worth the price for the crab legs and sushi alone. $30 for dinner but had to wait about an hour to get seated - they have a pretty standard ticketing and call system, i guess it shouldn't be a surprise that there's a long wait given the price. Crab legs were surprisingly good for a buffet; decently flavorful, not too small, not dry, and they stayed stocked. The sushi wasn't bad either and they also had sashimi, was pleasantly surprised - not the best sushi in the bay but again surpassed expectations. The rest of the buffet is pretty standard but still good all around.

Thank you Newark Buffet for keeping this restaurant on top of class. When i feel the crave for seafood, this is my go to restaurant. Or just want to hang out with friends who have limited food habits like vegan eaters, seafood eater (like me), or an ice cream. The service is always great! I see familiar faces of waiter/waitress so i know the management is superb! This one time when a friend of mine got a flu she loves the Newark Buffet hot and sour soup. It's always fun for me to go here.

First time trying this place. Located in a strip mall with easy parking. Huge place with lots of variety. Staff were quick, efficient, and cleaned the tables of empty plates quickly. While there was a lot of variety, overall the food was just ok. Standard buffet fare with added extra hibachi station. Came for lunch on a weekday so was $19 per person. Dinner is more and perhaps better options.

You need to try. This place is the best buffet and the Bay área you're not going to Find Nothing Like, This Around, The Bay Area.

    Jo W.

Not a bad buffet. The best parts are the oysters and the okanimiyaki that they cook in front of you! It's pretty crowded and can be hard to navigate. One of the waiters told my mom in front of me that I'm pretty, which was very sweet

Hi, I came today around 2:30 PM, about 30 minutes before dinner time. I came specifically for the sushi, and I was charged the dinner price. I was completely fine with that because I came for the food, so the price wasn't an issue. However, when I went to get the sushi, the chef gave me a side-eye and told me I couldn't eat it. I explained that I was charged the dinner price, which is why I was getting the sushi, but he stayed completely silent and never apologized. Also, we had only been eating for about 30 minutes when the server brought out the check. We hadn't even had dessert yet. It really felt like we were being rushed out, even though there were a lot of open tables. Do you want to kick the costumers out so bad like that? When I checked out, I also spoke to the person at the front, but I still never received an apology. Please train your staff because the table servers are the ones who should communicate with customers--not the chef, who doesn't even know what the customer paid.

    Kelly S.

Buffet time ;) I've been wanting to come here for the past 2 years and finally came here. We came for dinner time and waited around 50 minutes for our table? Which isn't bad at all! For the two of us it was just right under $80. Which isn't too bad, esp for the experience. They unexpectedly have a wide variety of stuff; - clams, snow crab, scallop - raw fish - dessert, ice cream - fruit Etc Staff are also very friendly and quick! We're definitely going to be back

Some things were decent like the honey walnut shrimp, steamed oysters when restocked, and a few of the dim sum items. The sushi bar was average for a buffet and the seafood section had some okay picks if you catch them early. A lot of the hot dishes felt pretty average though -- many were sitting out too long, overcooked, or underseasoned. Quality was hit or miss and not as strong as some of the better buffets in the East Bay. They had a sashimi bar which was nice. Service was fine, nothing memorable. The place gets loud and busy during peak dinner hours. Parking at the mall is easy though. Overall it's a decent 3 star buffet for the price if you're craving quantity and variety in Fremont. Not worth a special trip from far away but does the job locally when the mood hits.

For their all you can eat, there are a lot of options for self-serve ingredients, including some Chinese food in the buffet (most of which were a little dry), cheap sushi, dessert, DIY milk tea, fresh ice cream, and a sauce bar with pickled veggies. Do note that you may see a bug or two flying around some ingredients, so select wisely - I'm unfazed since I've traveled to Asia. The important items are covered, plus $25/pp for AYCE lunch on the weekend is crazy good in the bay. They only offered beef or lamb for the hot pot meat cuts at the time, which were unlisted on the menu. That was fine enough for us; you also have the option of doing a large pot to share that can hold two broths, or individual pots. The spicy broth was standard and good on the mala, the original soup was a little more bland than expected, and the fungus soup was surprisingly very umami and shroom-savory. The place is pretty dark, quiet, and interesting. There's some weird Western-style seats and furniture that just make you go "why". The service was pretty decent, as we always got meat whenever we wanted it. If you want value hot pot and no hassle in procuring your own ingredients, this is a solid place in the area.
