Came to Newark Buffet to celebrate my mom's 70th birthday. Sure, she could have gone anywhere else but to her, Newark Buffet checks off all of her cravings in one place. Win Win, right?? Here you will find a number of items ranging from your typical Chinese food, an assortment of sushi, hot soups, BYO Mongolian noodle station, fresh fruit, & a variety of desserts. I'm typically not a fan of buffets but even I was able to find a few things I enjoyed. Some of the standout items IMO: -Crawfish -Boiled Sea Snails -Imitation Crab & Egg Drop Soup -Fried Chicken -Grilled Fish Customer service was on point- nothing overbearing but absolutely attentive in the staff clearing our plates in a timely manner. Everyone was friendly and I'd like to say a majority of our party left happy. 4 stars overall.

I'm down here with my crew on location in the East Bay Fremont area and it's quitin time, so we need to find food for dinner. I always favored buffets for these occasions with multiple people with different tastes, cause everybody gets what they want for a reasonable price. So we pull into this Newark Buffet. From the name you can't tell it's Chinese, but it is. Not like Happy garden or something. We get seated just fine and we all get just water to drink. Buffets are instant food, no waiting to get orders taken or waiting for the food to arrive to the table, just go up and load up your plate! The food here is pretty much standard Chinese buffet selection, with all the standard dishes, like broccoli beef, the general and his chicken along with seafood shell fish, like clams and mussels. All the food was tasty and still hot, no real orphan dishes, you know, the ones that nobody wants and just sits there unwanted? Desserts were the standard almond cookies and some cake like things I didn't try. Everybody on the crew was happy and filled up and ready for another work day tomorrow.

Solid buffet; worth the price for the crab legs and sushi alone. $30 for dinner but had to wait about an hour to get seated - they have a pretty standard ticketing and call system, i guess it shouldn't be a surprise that there's a long wait given the price. Crab legs were surprisingly good for a buffet; decently flavorful, not too small, not dry, and they stayed stocked. The sushi wasn't bad either and they also had sashimi, was pleasantly surprised - not the best sushi in the bay but again surpassed expectations. The rest of the buffet is pretty standard but still good all around.

First time trying this place. Located in a strip mall with easy parking. Huge place with lots of variety. Staff were quick, efficient, and cleaned the tables of empty plates quickly. While there was a lot of variety, overall the food was just ok. Standard buffet fare with added extra hibachi station. Came for lunch on a weekday so was $19 per person. Dinner is more and perhaps better options.

You need to try. This place is the best buffet and the Bay área you're not going to Find Nothing Like, This Around, The Bay Area.

Not a bad buffet. The best parts are the oysters and the okanimiyaki that they cook in front of you! It's pretty crowded and can be hard to navigate. One of the waiters told my mom in front of me that I'm pretty, which was very sweet

Hi, I came today around 2:30 PM, about 30 minutes before dinner time. I came specifically for the sushi, and I was charged the dinner price. I was completely fine with that because I came for the food, so the price wasn't an issue. However, when I went to get the sushi, the chef gave me a side-eye and told me I couldn't eat it. I explained that I was charged the dinner price, which is why I was getting the sushi, but he stayed completely silent and never apologized. Also, we had only been eating for about 30 minutes when the server brought out the check. We hadn't even had dessert yet. It really felt like we were being rushed out, even though there were a lot of open tables. Do you want to kick the costumers out so bad like that? When I checked out, I also spoke to the person at the front, but I still never received an apology. Please train your staff because the table servers are the ones who should communicate with customers--not the chef, who doesn't even know what the customer paid.

Thank you Newark Buffet for keeping this restaurant on top of class. When i feel the crave for seafood, this is my go to restaurant. Or just want to hang out with friends who have limited food habits like vegan eaters, seafood eater (like me), or an ice cream. The service is always great! I see familiar faces of waiter/waitress so i know the management is superb! This one time when a friend of mine got a flu she loves the Newark Buffet hot and sour soup. It's always fun for me to go here.

Decent food for what it is. If you eat the crab legs and seafood then it's worth your money. If you only eat the hot food, then I can't really recommend. Sushi station is average but decent selection. Buffet stations were consistently refilled and food was hot. Service is pretty good. Drinks came out right away and they gave plenty of napkins. Plates were cleared routinely. Usually pretty crowded even on weeknights. $27.99 M-TH dinner $29.99 Friday and weekend dinner

I ordered the Tom Yum broth for the hot pot, which is my go-to, and it did not disappoint. It had a nice balance of tangy and savory flavors and paired well with the ingredients. For the BBQ, I noticed that the marinades and flavors were more bold and intense compared to other places I've been to. It's definitely a bit different from the typical KBBQ spots, but in a good way if you're looking to try something new. Overall, I left very full and satisfied. I'm surprised it isn't talked about more because I was honestly really impressed during my visit! The biggest standout for me was the barbecue. The meats tasted noticeably different from other AYCE spots I've tried, and I'm almost certain it comes down to the marinade. The flavor was deeper and more balanced, and it didn't have that overly salty or generic taste that some AYCE places can have. Everything felt well seasoned and intentional, and you can really taste the difference. The meats were tender and cooked beautifully on the grill! The hot pot was also enjoyable and added another layer to the meal. We ordered both the tom yum and miso soup bases, which paired well with the ingredients we chose. There was also a good selection of sides and add ons that helped round out the whole experience so it didn't feel repetitive. It's on a conveyor belt too! Another thing I appreciated was the service. The employees were very nice and attentive, always checking in to make sure we had what we needed and clearing plates quickly so the table never felt crowded. Overall this was a really solid experience and definitely a place I would come back to if I'm craving both hot pot and barbecue in one meal.

When you get to the second floor, there are kiosks to your left where you can order cafe menu items and to the right is the sushi restaurant. The doors lead to the balcony waiting area, which I'll admit has beautiful views of the hills and downtown Hayward. Best to come in the evening when lighting is photo worthy. The menu options are mostly matcha and sandos, which are sweet or savory, and sushi bento boxes. Stopped by with family and got the following 1. Strawberry matcha - 10/10 omg the matcha was DARK, well mixed and frothy. This is what matcha is supposed to taste like. The strawberries and cream at the bottom were perfect and not over sweet. 2. Mango matcha - 10/10 same as above 3. Salmon sashimi sando - 10/10 this savory one was so good. They mixed it in a spicy mayo sauce and crisped the bread to a yummy buttery perfection. 4. Strawberry sando - 10/10 so dang good! They also crisped the bread in butter but it was a sweet butter flavor. 5. Banana sando - 10/10 absolute banger if you love bananas. The bananas were perfect and the cream was banana flavored. Ugh I can't stop thinking about this one. Highly recommend! The atmosphere is great and I have to emphasize the patio was just beautiful. For the AYCE sushi restaurant, it was good but not exactly mind-blowing. The fish and seafood variety didn't taste like the freshest quality, and after a while, a lot of the rolls started tasting the same. For around $45 AYCE, I personally think there are better options out there. Some of the skewers came out burnt. Takoyaki was 1/5, you can skip on taht. But that being said, the service was really good. The lady serving us was super friendly and attentive, and overall the staff was kind and welcoming. However, there was only one other table besides ours at the time, so I'm not sure how service would be during peak hours. Now the cafe side, I loved it. The vibe made me feel like I wasn't even in Hayward. The sandos were really good, and the matcha looked amazing. I'd definitely come back for the cafe experience alone. My biggest concern though is the elevator situation. It wasn't working during our visit, and I heard it hasn't been working for quite a while. It honestly made me wonder how elderly or mobility-impaired guests are supposed to dine there. That definitely seems like something that needs attention.

LENT 2026: GOOD FRIDAY LUNCH…read more The first time I ate at Toro Sushi Stone Grill & Bar was the last Saturday of February for my mom's birthday. We had a private room for the party. Out of food that was served I really enjoyed eating the sashimi, which was presented on a platter. I also liked grilled salmon. During Lent I wanted to come back to Toro for lunch. I thought about getting sashimi or grilled salmon when I came back. A couple days before coming to Toro for Good Friday lunch I looked at the menu online. Why pay for the dishes I ate before? One of the dishes that intrigued me was the baked unagi fried rice. However the baked salmon fried rice sounded enticing. Also one of the appetizers sounded interesting was the sashimi pizza. My plan was to order an appetizer and an entree for Good Friday lunch. On Friday when I got a table I looked at the menu. The lunch special listed unagi don. Then I started thinking to myself. Why do I have to eat only fish on Fridays during Lent? Vegetables are permitted during Lent Fridays. I looked at the salad menu and one item intrigued me was the avocado salad. Instead of getting a sashimi pizza for an appetizer I choose avocado salad. Knowing a salad would not be filling I ordered the crispy salmon skin roll. For entree I ordered the unagi don. I'll start with the crispy salmon. A lot of people don't like to eat crispy skin of a fish. I love it. The crispy salmon skin roll is a filling roll due to the sauce, which adds flavor to the rice. Instead of a roll I would like to see crispy skin salmon as an appetizer as it would be similar to a chicharron. Regarding the avocado salad I liked how avocado wasn't skimpy in portion. There's one thing I don't like in salad and that is water. I understand cleaning the lettuce to get rid of the dirt, but the lettuce better be dry instead of water dripping at the bottom on the bowl. I came here for the unagi don. I felt I made a right decision of ordering the unagi don instead of the baked unagi fried rice. With the steamed rice I could taste the eel whereas the fried rice would've overpowered the eel. The unagi don was a filling dish and I believe if I ordered a baked unagi fried rice I would have felt bloated. On this last Friday during Lent I enjoyed my lunch at Toro Sushi Stone Grill and Bar. I liked the sashimi that was served for my mom's birthday party than what I ordered during Good Friday. I can see myself coming here again. Maybe next time I try the stone grill items.

Coconut and tamarind chutney was a nice surprise also. Chicken option and fish were done well. I can't remember exactly what recipe as tried a lil taste of many, but the point is they cook their meat and fish well with great flavor balance. There were a handful of goat options also. Never had a chickpea salad like they offered nor bitter gourd pickle! Loved that chickpea salad.
