My husband was craving Hot Pot so we ended up at Long Men Bay Hot Pot. We arrived right at 5 p.m. and were seated quickly. The benches are horrible. They are too far away from the tables and in horrible condition with ripped pleather from overuse. I had to sit uncomfortably on the edge of the bench. Like most places now you have to order via QR code so nobody spoke to us almost the entire time we were there. This would be fine if we were regular customers but as our first time, it was not ideal. We ordered the pork bone broth and Satan's butthole otherwise known as House Special Butter Bone Broth in MILD. This was not mild. No where near mild. I tried to tell the guy who brought us our meat and veggies this, but he said we should have said something to him. Like when dude? We ordered via QR code and nobody came to talk to us at any point after we sat down. We had to ask about the sauce bar and the utensils. Customer service was definitely lacking. This is probably the best hot pot place in the east, and easily one of the best in the south bay. They offer reasonable prices, amazing service, authentic taste, and plenty of all you can eat snacks. Once you get a seat, they give you a "lottery" scratcher in which you have the opportunity to win a free dish, or a discount up on your bill. Their spicy pots are pretty spicy even on the less spicy option. I recommend getting the half pot with spicy and and a mild one - the bone or tomato ones are good options. The service is fast and meats are fresh and high quality. You order with a QR code, and the menu is in English and Chinese. The sauce bar is always fully stocked, and they have a lot of options for snacks compared to other places. They have spicy cucumbers, bingfen, chicken feet, amongst a few. The broth is also very fresh - I saw workers carrying out pots of authentic spicy broths - pots of half melted beef tallow, butter, and spicy chilis. The tomato pot tastes very similar to haidilao's but for a fraction of the price. 100% recommend this place - it's the most authentic and best value hot pot I've had in the entire bay area -- and I'm willing to drive all the way from SF to do dine here. read more

We will never come back due to no accountability. I recently had a disappointing experience at this restaurant. My friends and I were planning to dine on a Friday evening, and when I called on Thursday, I was told to call back on Friday around 5pm to have a table for 6 PM. We arrived promptly at about 5:55 PM, and some of our party arrived by 6 PM. However, when we got there, we found that our table had already been given to another group. The server told us they came here at 5:45pm with party of 7, but there only 5 ppl sitting there and rest two not arrived yet. Server did mention that they didn't call ahead neither has numbers like us. =[ They should be transparent about it. I truly do not understand the hype. I came around 45 minutes before opening because I heard the lines could be long. Unfortunately, it was not worth the wait. This is the first time I've tried Chengdu/chongqing style hot pot. but I expected the abundance of hot spicy oil. That said, it's truly pure oil no 'broth'. At least, I would not recommend drinking it at all. That aside, my true issue was that the meat quality was extremely subpar - frozen, chewy, and just overall tasted quite grisly. And the subpar quality was across the board, for both hot pot beef slices and the skewers as well. The skewers were especially chewy, and the hot pot meat was previously frozen and very fatty/had a meaty taste. Not high quality for the prices. Everything is a la carte, similar to Haidilao, and for basically Haidilao prices (~50/person), I expected more. Higher quality meat at the very least! Like Haidilao, the side dish bar is extra. The side dish bar is great, and they also have traditional Chinese soup desserts, as well as frozen fried sesame balls. There's also sauces you can choose from, as well as fruit (oranges & grapes). The cumin beef side dish was quite good as well actually. The cold chicken feet was not. Overall, I think this style of hot pot isn't for me as I like being able to sip the broth. If you're okay with just dipping and you like spicy and really oily food, then this is for you. I got the medium spicy and it was decently spicy. We also ordered the meat skewers because a lot of tables had them but they were just ok imo (prefer the regular sliced ones more). The sauce bar was *chef's kiss*. Not just for long men This place was pretty popping on a sat night. We went for their half and half hot pot. The tomato broth was super tomatoey, almost like a light marinara sauce. The spicy butter came with two large blocks of butter in the soup. The veggies were fresh, meat was good quality. They have a lot of the more eccentric offerings, including blood, liver, and intestines. Their appetizers are not bad too, especially the sesame balls. The newest hot spot hot pot place in The Bay! I'm not sure if this is a chain place but there are obvious unavoidable comparisons that come to mind once you arrive. For me, Haidilao or LiuYiShou or ShanChengLameizi pop into my head. This place is medium sized but suffers from popularity so there is a wait. However, you can only get in queue at the restaurant by signing in electronically. Fortunately we got there on a Wed evening near opening time so our wait was short! Ordering is thru a QR code scan that opens an online app. Easy enough. Options are broad with a few unique delicacies. The self serve bar does feels like it has a few less options than other places overall. It has the basics of soy sauce, satay, seasame oil/ paste, vinegar, etc. Service is pretty good and quick. Not quite Haidilao but better than average. One eyesore that stands out is the messy hallway at the restrooms where they have a bunch boxes of supplies stacked up. You can't see it from the dining area but when you go there you can't miss it. All in all, is this worth trying out? I'd say, "yes." But try to avoid the long wait time if you can. I was glad to come here early for dinner, because at around 7 pm, the line was so long that they had to wait outside. I have been a couple of times, so I don't really remember going here, because it was like 2-3 years ago. The food was really good. The beef was probably the best beef ever. It was not too hard and too soft. The texture was so tender that I could eat so much beef. I also liked the popcorn chicken from the bar. It was so popular that it could run out in 2 minutes. I don't really recommend the fried pork and the beef tripe. The fried pork was okay, but the pork was dry inside. When I tried it with chilli powder from the bar, it fixed the pork a little bit, but still, not really good and we couldn't finish it. The beef tripe set was not really good also. I only like 1 out of 3 of the beef tripe set. One of the beef tripes was too long and it made me choke, so we didn't finish that either. The ambiance was really jammed and was pretty clean, but not the cleanest hot pot spots I've been to. I recommend this place, but don't get the fried pork or/and the beef tripe! It's hard to find that kind of super spicy and authentic chongqing style hotpot and was very pleased to hear about this restaurant. Beware, if you go on a weekend come right when they open otherwise you will be waiting 2+ hours to be seated.. That being said, our meal was excellent. I would try to come with a group of 4-6 to try different things; I came with one other friend and we didn't get as much variety as I usually like to have but every selection was excellent. They serve quail eggs (my favorite) and blood, and even less common things like kidney, throat, and brain. The skewers are also really good. Self serve bar is a must (although I'm not really sure why they charge for this...), they have things like cold spicy cucumbers and dessert which were great to cool off in between mouthfuls of the numbing broth. All of our orders came out fairly quickly after using the self order QR code at our table. As with most Chinese restaurants that stay authentic with their spice levels, beware. We got the pork bone broth and the spicy broth and even with the lowest spice level my mouth was on fire albeit in the most delicious way. Definitely want to give a thumb up to LongMen Bay. I'm originally from Sichuan, where the spicy hot pot is from. I have to say the spicy sauce pot is very close to what we have in our hometown. And the price is very reasonable. I mean VERY! Their kidney dish ( not the super thin one. Doesn't mean it's no good. I just personally like the thicker ones more) is very impressive. I also like the tripes except for the skinny white ones. The sliced spicy beef is good too. The goose intestines are not good enough. Maybe it's just for me. The snack bar is AWESOME! No matter the fruits or the snacks or the desserts are all good, as well as the dips.
