Oh my goodness soooooo good!!! I got the chicken Madeira and my daughter and niece shared spaghetti and meatballs. We also added garlic bread. It was all really great. I was in Austin for work and a coworker recommended Milano Cafe. It was a very pleasant experience. Everyone was warm and kind. The service was also very timely. I had the pasta primavera with tomato basil sauce and I can honestly say it was one of the best pasta I've had. The sauce was fresh and perfect and the broccoli was slightly cooked - just how I like it :-). It seemed like they take large parties as well as smaller parties of people. When you walk in it looks like a sit down restaurant., but surprisingly when you come in for lunch you are quickly told to order at the register and then pick a seat. They do however bring your food and beverages to you. The front dining room was completely empty when we arrived and remained that way. However there were 3 tables with dirty dishes that remained on the tables the entire time we were there. The young man working was more interested in talking on the phone and looking at his phone than cleaning up the tables. We ordered the Spinach Salad and the Veal Piccata. First word, AMBIANCE! This place is a hidden gem. Tucked inside a little shopping center but big vibes inside. The decor is unique and soft. It can be romantic in the evening or bougie and upscale during the day. I went for a company holiday lunch and it was suitable for a large party. The staff was pleasant and had the ability to cater to our vegan and gluten free employees. The menu doesn't have pictures so I do suggest browsing the photos online but the staff is knowledgeable. We ordered the calamari which was fried but could have been fried longer. The bruschetta was A+! I loved that they used flat grilled bread and fresh mozzarella. I ordered Veal Parmesan and it was massive (had to take it to go). I could have drank the sauce. The veal was cooked perfectly, it was so good. The only reason for the 4 stars was the dessert. I had red velvet cake and it was lacking. The cake was 3 layers and the top and bottom layer was dry and tasteless but the middle layer was decent. I had a coffee with foam and an expresso that warmed me right up. Overall from the lighting to the art work and corner piano section, this place could easily take my entire food budget money...it's just delicious! read more

How delightful cute place the Cabanarra was simply amazing bursting with bacon and fell in love My experiance was pleasant. I felt the atmosphere and ambiance make this a cosy sort of first date special. Cute little Italian spot for lunch. While the "pay at the counter" concept screams Fast Casual, the ambiance felt more cozy and warm. My friend ordered the Lobster Ravioli and I ordered the Linguini Fruitti di Mare. She and I split and shared the plates so that we could try both. While they were lunch portions, it was enough to be filling and induced food coma for the rest of the afternoon. It was DELICIOUS. No shortage on seafood or lobster. Two visits to Milano Cafe have proved to be good dinner experiences, but just a bit shy of great. We enjoyed the bruschetta on our first visit, along with a ravioli that had berries - I don't recall the exact name of the dish. On our second visit we had a great spinach and cheese ravioli. It was served with a tomato basil sauce that complemented the ravioli perfectly. The pasta primavera was less than stellar though. The mains came with a salad and bread. Service was good. There's an Italian gentleman (the owner?) who has a great sense of humor to enliven his guests' dining experience. Napkins should be cloth, not paper for this price point. The menu is Italian with a few vegetarian and gluten-free options. They go really heavy on the sauces, so be prepared for your plate to arrive with the pasta submerged. I happen to like a lot of sauce. Portions are small. The associated salads were fresh but super tiny, about four inches across and half what I'd expected. My dish was over-salted, so that was the predominant flavor, sadly. The wine menu encompasses several varietals and most are served by the glass as well as by the bottle. I couldn't eat the spinach ravioli - the the spinach itself was tough and had a bitter taste. The drunken pasta was basically Alfredo sauce with Sherry added, and although it was supposed to have chicken, there were literally four small bite sized pieces. The cucumber salad lacked salt and acid. No flavor at all. The sliced grilled bread was soggy, smashed, and very sad and offered in little foil packets with no butter or olive oil or anything. Second time to visit this restaurant and having tried 4 different items in the menu as well as 2 different desserts I am very impressed with this place. Don't be worried that it is in a strip center. It is lovely and spacious on the inside. The pizza was great. The chicken parmigiana and chicken piccata was delicious and the veal Marsala was so good. The salted caramel cheesecake is to die for and the red velvet cake was very good. The owner came and talked to us awhile and he was so interesting. An Italian immigrant who worked hard. So glad I didn't have to trash 2, I guess.... Spumoni cheesecake.... I have no clue how they made it. I can't imagine how it is supposed to taste. It was gross. I don't even know how to describe the consistency, it wasn't like cheesecake. The taste was weird. It also seems like it had been sitting forever in the display case. I paid for in order 2, but he gave me 3.... All got thrown away along with the Black Forest cake. The tiramisu was thrown away without even tasting it. The trust was gone after the other two desserts. The ok: The garlic bread was okay. It's nothing fancy, it's about as you would make it home. Apparently everything you order comes with two small pieces of plain bread that looks like maybe it was warmed up on the griddle or something. No complaints about that other than it's a lot of bread to throw away. The bruschetta, I didn't even taste it. It's in my fridge, we'll see if I get to it or not. It might just go out on the next trash day. My interaction with and the service from the staff and assuming, owners, was pleasant. They were all very nice. That is a cute little restaurant.
