Let me just start by saying WOW!! First of all, if you have ever heard of a Diamond in the rough or a hidden gem, that's one way to describe Midtown Deli. Even using GPS and the guy driving knowing the area it is, we almost missed it. Even turning into the parking lot I didn't see it until we were in the drive through. I was in town briefly for work and Midtown Deli was highly recommended to me. I was told "If you can only go to one place for lunch, you HAVE to get lunch here." Needless to say, I was NOT disappointed!! Between the speed of service, friendliness of the staff, price, and quality of the food ... I would give them 6 stars out of 5 if Yelp would allow it. We waited in the drive through for ~10 minutes which wasn't bad for being the 4th car in line. They had a small area indoors it looked like you could order from, but I realized it too late and the drive through was moving faster than most of the big name fast food chains. We looked at the menu on the banner outside and were handed paper menus when we got to the window. The lady taking our order was great -- helpful, polite, and made perfect recommendations. I think of the three recommendations (one being the daily special), our group got all three ... and we all loved the different sandwiches we got. The price for three of us was about the cost of an average dinner for 1 at a restaurant. And I would possibly argue the quality of food here is better. If you blink, you are going to miss it, so keep your eyes open and make a point to stop by and grab some lunch. read more

Well over TEN purchases. You'll find this cute delicatessen store located in a parking lot of one of our fav thrift shops....shop then grab a sandwich to go or...in the summer sit in the patio area. The two owners are so nice, great cooks and will make the sandwich to your choice. We've had quite a few different sandwiches but two of our fave is the grilled salami and Reuben. Delicious soft bread, a stack of meat (I recommend always getting it grilled with their delicious garlic butter), melty cheese...it's simple. It's affordable. It's the best sandwich you can buy. Wow! Greeted by 2 super friendly ladies! After getting a run down of the menu we opted in for the "most popular" orders. They said the Ruben had been voted best Ruben Im the state of Idaho for 3 years and the turkey bacon. You can't get meal at McDonald's for $12 but you can get a manster sized sandwich. The Ruben- they slice their bread of choice from a full load. So the bread it long and thick. They use pastrami instead of corned beef (which is different but amazing) the pastrami was thinly sliced and had great flavor. They were generous with the meat and added the cheese and thousand island dressing with the sauerkraut. It was the best Ruben I've ever had. Crispy from being grilled and packed with flavor! I had getting my hands dirty when I eat but gladly picked up the meat that had fallen out and devoured every bit. Getting my hands messy was a sacrifice worth while! The turkey bacon. - thick crispy bread from the grill along with a sliced turkey piled a mountain high. I think it could have used something to cut through the saltiness. Maybe some tomato or even a pickle. I thought it was good, but probably will order something else next time.. or add something to do. Still a sandwich better the. Most places but will either modify or try a different one next time. It sits In a little what I thought was a coffee stand in a parking lot. You can walk up or drive up to order. There are some picnic tables to eat. To wrap It up .. this place was incredible. Lovely and friendly staff, great great food and with large portion sizes and decently priced. Woke up craving a delicious and meaty sandwich. After I went fishing and found a place I haven't tried yet, this was the spot and I damn sure glad I stopped by! Firstly, greeted by a friendly lady who smiled at my little bud (dog) greeting them hanging out my window. I went with a pastrami as well as a Ruben. The nice lady offered my dog some Turkey while we waited and my two sandwiches were made in just a few min. The smell inside was amazing and I couldn't wait to dig in. I saw a list of the best sandwich place in every state and Midtown Deli was the best in Idaho. Typically, I don't eat lunch but I had an appointment nearby so I decided to give it a try. My husband and I ordered a hot pastrami on French bread. The sandwiches were delicious and very large. We had half for lunch and the other half for dinner. We will go back for more. My wife and I were in town and we were hungry. I asked Siri for a sandwich shop nearby and she asked if I wanted to try this one. I will admit I was a bit skeptical because it looked like a coffee stand. PLEASE DO NOT LET THIS DETER YOU!!!!! There was a banner out front that read "voted best Reuben" and gave a couple different years. I lived in New York for a few years so I have kinda become a Reuben snob. OMG!!!!! I haven't had a Reuben this good since I was back in New York 20 years ago!! My wife ordered the Turkey bacon on garlic toast and they didn't skimp on the meat by any means. The Italian pasta salad and pea salad were both amazing and definitely beat my grandmother's pea salad with the large chunks of bacon and crisp water chestnuts (Don't let my grandma hear this). Everything came with fresh baked cookies that were definitely made for a cheat day. The ladies in the shop were very friendly, lots of fun and as wonderful as their products. Friendly ladies and my order came with two cookies for free. I will be back. This place is tiny, like super tiny. Drive up only in winter I would say, and probably some outdoor seats/tables in summer. Post Falls is a little crapper town IMO but they have some decent food for sure! Try it out! Come hungry! People must be starved for a Ruben because it was just VERY average & surprisedly almost no sauerkraut.... Like a thin layer, I opened it to make sure there was ANY kraut on it at all. We also ordered the grilled turkey & cheddar on sourdough...a toasted sandwich but the turkey inside was COLD...my husband didn't eat it as he wanted a hot grilled sandwich... I know how hard women work in the food industry.... I grew up in a restaurant family ..so I'm not here to ruin someone's 5 star rating , but the real truth is .. the Ruben is NOT the best Idaho.... Grilled with garlic butter and both crusty and soft. So many good quality ingredients here. It tastes like the person who made it for you loves you. Service was so good it didn't feel like service. The ladies here are warm and friendly and maybe a touch sassy. Perfect. What an excellent little gem of a place. So glad I stopped.
