I had a perfect birthday brunch thanks to Midnights, despite all odds. We arrived half an hour late and we were extremely indecisive about food and drinks. One of us even changed his order after our waitress left for the kitchen. We also bothered our waitress to take photos of our reunion, which she happily obliged. Needless to say, the service here is outstanding. Pulled pork benedict - These are super indulgent and a modern take on classic eggs benedict. The eggs were perfectly poached and covered with a chipotle hollandaise. The slow roasted pork shoulder fell apart under my fork, and it was so juicy and tender. Truffle steak fries - I'm a huge fan of truffle anything, and these fries were bomb. They were fresh out of the fryer, so hot to the touch, and they came with grated parmesan. We ordered two sides of this and they were the first things gone from the table. Avocado toast - This dish was a bit disappointing since my friends' poached egg was more well-done compared with our egg benedicts. The bread was also ridiculously hard to saw through so my friend just started picking it up and eating it with his hands. For example, our food and drink total was $383, the sales tax was $33.02 and the CC Processing fee was incurred on the $417 total. They now disclose this charge on the bill ONLY because of a new law in 2019 stating they they have to. Also the note at the bottom of the check is misleading, merchants are not forced to charge this fee, they elect to do so. Came here Saturday for a friends birthday and was underwhelmed. When we sauntered into Midnights for an early dinner around 5 on a Sunday, we were pleasantly surprised to see plentiful seating AND a happy hour menu! The ambiance is sleek but comfortable, cozy yet refined. You have mirrored walls and dim lighting on one wall and large TV broadcasting news and sports behind the bar. It's classy mixed with a casual, local vibe. Among our group we ordered truffled steak fries, butternut squash risotto with pan seared scallops, Thai red curry mussels, and ricotta gnocchi - all I can say is "yum." Everything came to the table fresh, hot, and in a very timely manner. The scallops in the risotto may have been the best I've ever had; the gnocchi was light, perfectly flavored, perfectly cooked cloud from heaven; and I would have sipped a glass of the Thai red curry sauce if it was socially acceptable. Try the vegetarian gnocchi with mushrooms- such an earthy pasta that was cooked to perfection. Brownies and the date cake were also a solid dessert choice. Every cocktail on the menu was divine- ranging from hot to cold options. During the winter they open up the back winter chalet that has a ski resort vibe. Benches with blankets and space heaters to cozy up on. This space was great for our party of 12 but did get a little cold. I came to Midnights with 3 of my friends last night and the service and food was beyond EXCELLENT. The atmosphere is very cozy and nice. The sous chef named Mike (yes it was that good we asked for his name) sent out ricotta gnocchi and Thai curry mussels as our starters. Generally i do not like seafood nor do i even like mussels but WOW the Thai curry mussels were extremely good and didn't have that weird seafood taste i don't like. As our entree we all had the burger and it was cooked medium and it tasted juicy and perfect. We also had truffle fries that tasted just as great as they sound With the right amount of salt and Parmesan. Lastly for desert we had the midnight glacier which consists of a brownie and gelato on top. The brownie was warm and fresh and just melted in your mouth along with the gelato. I'm not a big fan of the general prices, but happy hour helps and definitely won't break the bank if you grab a couple drinks and snack on their appetizers. They had lots of unique and *~trendy~* appetizers, like brussels sprouts, beet and ricotta hummus, cauliflower tacos, vegetarian calamari... you get my drift. I sat in the winter garden located in the back. I started off with the Berry Manilow cocktail. I loved it so much that I kept getting them throughout the meal. I'm a sucker for a well-made cocktail so this place will have a place in my heart. We started off with the cauliflower hummus. It was good. I didn't really like the beet addition to it. It was sweet which isn't something I would like for my hummus. Then we shared the mussels and the fish. I really enjoyed the fish. The skin was nice and crispy and then the meat was tender and fresh. I've only got great things to say about Midnights and if you're planning a big dinner like I just did, here's a comprehensive review on just how nicely our 18-person birthday dinner went. I had made a reservation about a month out and got in touch with their events/marketing guy Paul. He was super helpful from the start; patiently waiting on the final count that I had changed like four times. I confirmed 18 people for the outdoor patio (super cute, string lights, vines all over the walls, very cool.) Paul sent me over a list of apps and entrees to choose from to put on our menu. Great food selection and very veg friendly! Paul also very graciously customized our menus (it was my boyfriend's 30th bday and I wanted to make it memorable.) On tip of the back and forth, I had also asked them if I could bring my own cake, which they then took off the prix fixe per-head amount. Fast forward a month later to the day of the dinner and we are met with great weather (or so we thought), and great company. Their outdoor patio has huge fans that keep you cool - we def needed it as it was a blazing 92 degrees out. Our whole party arrived and we were greeted by friendly servers. They brought our drinks out fairly quickly throughout the night. Our appetizers were excellent (I got the tuna poke which was served in a scallion pancake shell), some loved the steak skewers and others enjoyed the hummus. It took a little bit of time before our entrees came out, and by the time the last entree came it had started to pour. Luckily we all enjoyed the food. I got the chicken with mashed sweet potatoes, some had the NY strip steak, cauliflower general tso's, potato pasta. The chicken was so flavorful that I didn't mind having waited a little bit. They also sent us some oysters for the short wait, which was a nice touch. The servers helped us dry our tables once the rain stopped and they were able to serve the cake. What a great meal! We were treated like royalty by Chef Marcellus Coleman as every dish and wine pairing was well thought out for our 5 course chef's tasting meal. To start we had the Chilled Corn Soup with Maine Lobster, this was one of our favorites and a dish we'll certainly order again. Light, bright but bursting with flavor and a hint of heat. The second course was the Hawaiian Poke - I'm a huge fan of Poke so this was a great treat. The third was the gently cooked brook trout which was paired perfectly with the grapes and pumpkin seeds / hazelnuts - gave the dish great texture And of course the highly raved Short Rib Rendang was bursting with flavor. This was truly the star of the night. Our meal ended with the Panna Cotta and by that time we were stuffed. He also found some compote in lieu of jam when we made such a request. When we walked in there weren't that many people sitting inside but the entire backyard space was completely full! Given this was summer that was totally understandable. I'd say if you want to snag a set of seats in the back come a little earlier in the evening. The inside has a standard bar and booths throughout the space. They has a good selection of specialty cocktails and also were able to make a lot of other typical drinks on request as well. As it got later in the night the bar became more crowded and by the time we left it felt like it was a weekend night! This is definitely a good date spot given the dim lighting and music selection. Cute place. Atmosphere sticks out the most. Decor is modern, almost upscale. It's unlike most of the other restaurants in the area (in a good way). We came mid Sunday afternoon (brunch). We were starving and our first two stops had wait times of over 1.5 hrs. Here, we were seated within a few minutes. First thing's first...they informed us that they ran out of 2 major menu items: waffles and sausage. It happens, I know. But WHYY. They offer chicken and waffles....but they run out of the most basic breakfast/brunch item.... It takes like....4 ingredients to make a waffle. SMH *face palm* Anyhow...all 3 of us ended up ordering the burger. Boring, I know, but it was a solid burger. TINY (see photo), but pretty good. The meat was cooked well and full of flavor. Accompanying french fries were delishhhhh. The meal was kind of pricey at $18-19 a pop though (considering size, and how regular of a burger it was). But let's talk about the bun... it was the basic, Wonder bread hamburger bun that you get from the supermarket and it was visibly burnt. But all 3 of our buns were like that so I suspect they over-toast it purposely. It tasted good in my opinion but overall made the burger somewhat unattractive. Admittedly, I don't have the most comprehensive opinion of the food seeing as I've only eaten here once. Not in a hurry to return though. Food options are great and healthy but smaller than usual which is something to consider. I had the fried green tomatoes which were yummy but needed a bit more seasoning for the pop! Drinks have cute and fun names "the Justin Bieber is an example of one. After 11pm the indoor area turns into a happening lounge with a DJ and drinks which is a plus. We sat on stools near the bar and door and was enjoying ourselves when the security guard told us we were being rowdy and to bring it down. We were shocked not because of someone doing their job, but because we were far from what he was saying. We had just started the night, we might have had two sips on our drinks, and we were sitting to ourselves. Further, the place was loud and pretty packed. Midnights is hella consistent across the board, from the hospitality, (so warm & welcoming), to the food, (absolutely delicious & always on point), to the decor to the music to the drinks... and on and on. No matter how much time passes between my visits to Midnights, when I walk in, I'm greeted with a genuine "Hey! Good to see you!", or an occasional hug. There isn't ever an aggressive rush once you walk though the door, you're immediately overcome with a chill vibe, and the rest is history. Love me some Midnights. Decided on this bar for an evening of drinks with some coworkers who also live in the area. There were 3 of us, and we got there a little early (7pm) before primetime to be seated immediately. T The inside is dimly lit and suave cocktail bar-feeling that you'd expect. Very romantic. They also have a really nice back patio, which is perfect if you're trying to squeeze out every last drop of good weather we're having. The back patio is secluded, with lots of shrubbery and space, lit up by string lights and candles. Also a nice romantic spot if that's what you're feeling. Every drink on the cocktail menu looks designed to make you look foolish when ordering - so for example, I got the Justin Bieber (~$14), which was a sweet, lemon and gin-infused drink. It was really pretty and tasted good going down, so I would recommend if you want something on the refreshing/sweet side. My coworker had her drink served in a ceramic, black fish cup, which was hilarious and fun. After that round, we decided to slow down and get some wine. So naturally, I got my favorite - prosecco, which also didn't disappoint. When you're hungry, you're hungry. We got to that point and ordered the herb fries ($7) which were average sized, hot, and overall satisfying, but nothing that will knock your socks off. They have a whole dinner menu as well, but we stuck with shareables, as some of us had to run early. Our server was kind and prompt with our drinks, and also patient when we were too busy gabbing away to actually decide on what we wanted.
