First time at the Williamsburg location and had a good time! The experimental Coconana stout was quite delicious!! The coconut flavors were prominent and the banana flavors were more subtle, almost more like a plantain? The blackberry mango tart definitely has the mango and passionfruit flavors as advertised. My partner enjoyed it but it was too tart for me. For cocktails, I liked the Kiss from a Rosé; it has nice floral notes but wasn't too sweet. The place was spacious with lots of seating options, ranging from small tables to larger benches. It was popping on a weekend afternoon! Bathrooms were clean and staff were friendly!

My friends and I came on a Saturday afternoon and were seated by the host inside at a table outside on the sidewalk patio. We were presented with menu and brought a large glass bottle of water. Our waitress took our order of drinks and chips with guacamole. The chips and guacamole came out quickly as did our drinks. I had the sour flight which was delicious and comes with 4 different featured sour beers. My friend ordered a Mediterranean appetizer but it took too long as our waitress said the kitchen was backed up so we canceled it. It was nice so sit outside and it was fairly quiet. Ive also sad inside and love the huge windows to let light in which is different than most breweries. I also love that its women owned!

A friend had their pre-wedding reception here. They reserved the whole space, which made for a nice venue (including the outdoor area by the curb and sidewalk with tables) for a private event. Talea beer had options for all palates! My boyfriend and I were amused by their limited Shake Shack x Talea Black Truffle Lager! My boyfriend enjoyed it, and although I was very intrigued, I realized it wasn't for me. I liked the slushy called Ruby Tang, which was really good. The tanginess came from cranberry and a hard blackberry limeade, and was also mixed with vodka, lime, and ginger beer. I also got to try a rose cider which was very good. The service was great, all servers were very friendly and made the drinks rather quickly. We liked the food here too. The guacamole was fantastic; my friends and I kept coming back for more chips and guac. The tomato pesto toast was also a nice little bite, and there was also The Mediterranean spread. Very nice experience here, and I'd recommend to stop by to try Talea's beers and also host an event here!

The cutest, women-owned brewery tucked into the heart of Williamsburg -- the vibes were are so great and they have plenty of seating. It was the perfect way to spend an afternoon. The space is so bright and airy, and they have a large bar as well as waiters to take orders. The menu definitely skews more toward sours and hazies, including a few flights if you're feeling adventurous. I really loved both hazy IPAs I've tried here. Bonus shoutout to the glassware and branding -- so cute and on point, I want them for my bar cart at home. I'll be back soon!

TALEA Beer Company is a craft brewery that opened in Brooklyn, New York in March 2021. It was founded by friends and business partners LeeAnn Darland and Tara Hankinson. It is the first female-owned and founded brewery in New York City. The duo met in April 2018 while working at Hopsy: a beer e-commerce pop-up. Both of them were avid homebrewers with MBAs who had left their corporate jobs in tech and media to join the beer industry. They shared a vision to create their own brewery and brand that catered to women and/or people who typically identified as 'non-beer drinkers'. From confusing packaging and bearded 'beer bros' with attitudes to dark, industrial taprooms, the male-dominated industry was lacking an approachable, inclusive perspective and voice. Their brewery would produce more fruit-forward beers and offer them in an environment that was as appealing as any high-end Brooklyn brunch spot. Garland and Hankinson came up with the name "TALEA" as an amalgamation of their given names. In 2019, they released their first beer to various bars, restaurants, and retailers in NYC. Their flagship taproom opened in Williamsburg two years later and was immediately successful with women as well as people of color and people in the LGBTQ community. Additional taprooms would open in Cobble Hill (June 2022), the West Village (October 2023), and Bryant Park (December 2023). I recently visited TALEA's Williamsburg flagship location while I was cycling around NYC. I was trying out a number of Brooklyn breweries and pizzerias and this was my fourth stop of the day. The interior of the taproom was very bright and inviting. A lot of customers were quietly working away on their laptops; the place gave off a vibe similar to a NYC coffeehouse or brunch spot. After looking over the menu, I decided to order the "Sour & Fruity" Flight which consisted of "Watermelon Splash" (Fruited Gose), "Prickly Berry Crush" (Fruited Gose), "Peach Berry Punch" (Fruited Sour), and "Tropicberry Tart Deco" (Sour IPA). Although I tend to prefer my Hazy New England IPAs, all of the beers that I tried at TALEA were fantastic and refreshing! I especially liked the "Prickly Berry Crush" which had nostalgic notes of Sour Patch Kids and Kool-Aid. I wouldn't call TALEA a place strictly for female craft beer drinkers, but rather an inclusive craft beer space for ALL craft beer drinkers. I was very impressed with my visit and I look forward to visiting TALEA's other locations!

We stopped at Talea twice while staying in Green Point, Brooklyn. It was great - they even have delicious wine, for the non-beer drinkers out there! We stopped in on a weekday, and it was very quiet inside - definite coffee house vibes. But on the weekend it was packed, lively, and the welcoming as they celebrated Oktoberfest. Very spacious, great service, delicious product. I will definitely return when visiting Brooklyn.

I came here for a New Year's party and had such a great time! The venue is very spacious and has a really young and fun vibe! It does not have the typical Brooklyn brewery industrial aesthetic rather it has a more modern vibe. I read a bit about TALEA and it is a female founded brewery, which is amazing to see. I can definitely see how the space caters well for a female audience. The New Year's party was a really fun. The dj was incredible and was able to keep everyone in the dance floor. They had a great selection of beers, wines, and cocktails! The few beers, and wines we had weee really good and had a unique more floral flavor to it I will definitely plan on coming back for another normal night too

Excellent place to bring a date, friends, or just yourself! Staff was super pleasant. The sour beers were worth it. My favorite one was berry chocolate. It really taste like berries and chocolates. The banana split tart deco did not have a strong banana split taste. I would've liked it to take like I'm eating ice cream.

The beer was okay, nothing to so extra ordinary, but the flights were a good pour. They allow children and dogs in there which isn't my favorite, but the service was nice and efficient. Definitely gets crowded though, so hard to find a seat.

It's no surprise to learn that beer is a male-dominated industry, for what is more stereotypically male than a group of bros guzzling down a six pack? Beer is great for all gender expressions, but you wouldn't know it based on the advertising and aesthetics of most taprooms, which is not at all to suggest there be beer for women only, (like when Doritos made "lady-friendly chips" or when Bic made "for her pens"). The women behind Talea have the right idea, rethinking the beer and the space to feel more charming and inclusive, with events like yoga and restaurant pop-ups regularly taking place in their taproom, as well as a coworking vibe and charming courtyard perfect for hosting birthday parties and work get-togethers. They really tapped into the right market because it was hard for me to find a table to sit at for the first couple of months they were open due to their popularity. I happened to be in the area on a recent weeknight and popped in with some friends. We tried several flights of the beer, whose descriptions on the menu were accurate. Whether it's a sour, an IPA, or a lager you're looking for, you're bound to find something you like on their expansive menu, and their friendly staff is really helpful with guiding you towards the right choice. I'm so glad to see their colorful cans available at bodegas, and markets across town, so even when I can't visit one of their two taprooms, I can get Talea wherever I go.

Decent beer, overpriced, better options in Brooklyn. Also, limited flight and tasting options if you're not sure what to try.

Ask the Community - Talea Beer

Can you bring in outside food?

Hi Grace- We do not permit outside food unless you have booked a private event OR you are bringing a cake/dessert. There is a $20 cake cutting fee for plates, forks, and clean up. Thanks!

Are the sours barrel-aged or are they kettle sours?

Thanks for inquiring! We do not have a wild fermentation program - all of our sours are either kettle soured or soured using a yeast that both ferments and sours. Thank you!

Do they offer Belgian golden ales or just ipa's?

Hi Patrick! We offer a range of styles including Hazy and West Coast Style IPAs, Gose Style Sours, Sour IPAs, Lagers, Stouts, as well as many other seasonal styles. We don't currently offer a Belgian Golden Ale, but we're constantly brewing new beers

I was not disappointed AT ALL!! First impressions: it's a bit of a compact space, but there's also plenty of tables/seating to choose from....although it does fill in fast!! We came relatively early around 4pm, so we were able to take advantage of some of their Happy Hour prices, including: $14 Fried Chicken Sandwich $10 Cocktails, including the Frozen Espresso Martini I also got the Smash Burger and the Yuzu Sake, which weren't included in the Happy Hour. You order your food & drinks at the bar, but they bring the food out to wherever you're sitting once it's ready. As for the cocktails, they were both great!! The Frozen Espresso Martini was very creatively presented and I enjoyed the look and taste of it. The Yuzu Sake was strong and great quality! For the food, both the Fried Chicken Sandwich and Smash Burger were delicious!! The Fried Chicken Sandwich especially tasted so unique and creative with the sauce on it, but I also just really loved the solid burger and could tell it had excellent quality. Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Torst, and I highly recommend stopping by to grab some of their food and drinks!

However, my friends and I were here for the food, so that's what this review is based on. She-wolf Sourdough (7/10) - It was good bread, but nothing really special. Hot Crab Dip (7/10) - Very veggie forward flavors, but you do taste crab. Not bad. Btw, this dish comes with a few pieces of the She-Wolf Sourdough. Danish Dog (7.5/10) - Great snap to the bite of the dog itself. Bread was great. Pickles are interesting, but the curry mayo should be stronger and more bold. Simple mustard would have been better. Old Bay Chicken Wings (8/10) - Nice plump and juicy wings with that dusting of Old Bay seasoning. Yum! Fried Chicken Sandwich (5/10) - Chicken was fried well and bread was fine. However, the chili miso honey was way too much for me. Too sweet, not spicy at all, and just didn't work well. Dry Aged Burger (7/10) - Beef patty needs more seasoning and a better crust. No real char at all, though a decent beef flavor was present. Not into the sprouts, but the tomato jam was good. From what I heard, I had high hopes for the food here. In the end, it was a satisfying meal, but nothing special something I travel so far for again.

Brouwerij Lane has been on my list of places to explore for a while. The interior is small but cozy. There were maybe six other customers enjoying beers when I arrived. I grabbed a table and then looked over the impressive draught menu. I decided to start off with a pour of Mighty Squirrel Brewing's "Volare" (Italian Pilsner). Italian Pilsners are my favorite variety of pilsners, and this one was excellent. Dry-hopped with noble hops, "Volare" (Italian for 'to fly') was crisp and delicious with a nice blend of citrusy notes and hints of freshly baked bread. I also had a look at the shop's impressive can/bottle selection and purchased a can of Brown Girl's Brew's "Lemon Pound Cake" (Lager) to take home. Before leaving, I enjoyed a pour of Brouwerij Van Steenberge's "Tripel De Garre" (Belgian Tripel). This was an AMAZING Belgian beer that had some excellent spice notes.
