I can't recall how many times I've been given the run around by mechanics throughout my life. I'm sure a lot can relate. This Independent owned Midas. The Manager Keith, The Amazing Mr Mike. The combination of these two men have given me a relief from the worries of my vehicle breaking down. Unlike most places this Midas has a big open window so you can see the work being done. Keith and Mike will not bullshit you. Had my alternator on the brink of destruction that could of landed me stranded. They saw this while fixing my broken AC unit and showed me what a good alternator is supposed to look like, and then showed me what MY alternator looked like. The level of trust with this independent company and these two gentlemen (true mechanics) has left me with no choice but to continue giving them my vehicle! Got an oil change here. They tried to upsell me about $200 worth of extras, which I politely declined. No problem there; I was prepared for that kind of thing at any national chain. BUT... they checked my air filter as part of their "courtesy inspection" and left a bolt loose when they put everything back together. A couple tanks of gas later I go to check my fluids and see that the air intake hose is completely disconnected and sucking unfiltered air. When I called them up they were very dismissive, assuring me that my car was fine because I had only driven ~2000 miles since the oil change. No apology, no refund, no nothing. They did offer to fix the hose - for a fee. Thanks but no thanks; I am perfectly capable of tightening a bolt by myself, and these clowns apparently cant manage to get even that right. read more

Dis-Honest Business! They smile and keep appointment times, but can't be trusted to complete service. Our truck went in for LOF and tire roto - maybe they did the LOF, but not the tire roto. They also recommended over $500 of drive train work. Their labor rate and parts markup is extremely high, so I got another price from elsewhere that was 40% lower! Then it turns out that there was NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DRIVE TRAIN! This is the third of similar incidents here in the past few years on company and private vehicles. Bottom line is that they will be very happy to see you, but you will be a lot poorer if you let them do anything but change your oil. read more

I arrived for my 2 o'clock at 2pm. I gave them my keys and information and said that I was going to take my family to the Sonics across the lot. The manager assured me that they would get me right in. I watched my car for 40 minutes but it never moved. I went back to the shop at 2:50pm and they said that they forgot to print my work order and couldn't find my key. After they located my key, they said that it would be an additional 30 minutes. It was actually another hour, but the manager apologized sincerely and did my sevice FREE OF CHARGE! Definitely will return! Kudos for being considerate and business savvy! read more

Went to the Broadway location for an oil change with a Groupon. Was a little early to my appointment but I was greeted warmly and they took my car in right away. Mike and Keith were very friendly and courteous and explained what should be done to my car. There wasn't any pressure to get it done right away, which was very nice! I agreed to have my brakes done and a new belt out in (whatever that means, lol) and they said it would be about an hour. I chatted with the staff and other customers and time flew by. When I had to pay, I realized I didn't have my wallet! I was so embarrassed but Mike and Keith assured me it was ok and even offered to give me a ride to pick up my wallet! I don't know where all of these negative reviews are coming from. I am very ignorant about cars and the way they work- so of course my boyfriend asked if I would bring his car in for maintenance. He had a $20 coupon for the Midas Touch Maintenance Package- oil change, tire rotations, brake check, windshield fluid top off, battery test, the whole 9 yards and a pretty good deal for $20. They were exactly 45 minutes as promised and the receptionist dude Mike Duda was such a nice guy and was really good at breaking down what was wrong & how much it would be to fix it. I truthfully think that the previous bad reviews must've been a bad day, because honestly I think they did a good job. PLEASE DO NOT COME TO THIS LOCATION. I got a Groupon for a $20 oil change and this was the closest shop. They brought my car back almost immediately, and first they went to the farthest rack, then I saw them move it to one closer. I thought it was odd, but thought maybe that last rack was causing problems. They lifted my car and immediately started taking off my tires; there were 2-3 guys that were looking at my car. Soon enough, one of the guys in the front had me come out to look at my "cracked" strut. My oil was pouring out of the strut, which was NOT happening prior to coming to this location. I told them I would not be getting it fixed there and immediately took it to my trusted mechanic. Come to find out, the damage done is NOT due to normal wear and tear like Midas told me. My mechanic stated that the strut had only been damaged for about 5-10 miles, which is all it took for me to go home and to the mechanic. My strut was damaged at that Midas and they made it look like something that was "normal." I went in for a $20 oil change and came out with $1400 worth of damage. On top of that, my mechanic pointed out that one of my lug nuts from my tires was missing. PLEASE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I cannot stress that enough. read more

Each time I go in, it is never just a routine oil change that I need. Since I do not know much about cars, the dollar sign lights up in their eyes since they know I am a chump and will pay for unnecessary work. But after thousands of dollars invested into this company, I am done. Not only did I keep my paper work from my previous visit but I kept it from the one prior to that. So from May 2013 it was recommended I get new tires and a cabin filter. These were not done. In August 2013, the paper work showed the tread went from yellow to green or from worse to better. The same thing goes for the cabin filter. I will be certain to pass along the lack of incompetence your store has to potential future customers, which most likely will be very scarce. read more

I went in for a basic oil change. In the past I have gone to other places but I was able to make an appointment and figured this would be my best bet since I was in a time crunch. As I sat in the lobby I could see the employees working on my car. Since they knew I could see them, you'd assume they would work diligently and quickly. Instead they were lallygagging, eating pizza, and texting as I was sitting there watching. The time it took for them to simply change my oil was 50 minutes. Not only was my time not being respected, but also what I asked for was not honored. I went into Midas because they advertise a $18.99 oil change for regular, which my car takes. This is what I asked for but when I was getting rang up I was told they put synthetic oil in without even asking me. I dread going in for oil changes and places like this is why. As a woman, I am taken advantage of because they assume I don't know anything and try to sell me all these added services my car does not need. The cherry on top this overall underwhelming and extremely disappointing experience was the amount of unprofessionalism I experienced. The man who appeared to be the manager was cussing and constantly complaining about uniforms as I was sitting in the waiting room. Took my car here for a routine oil change. They got it done nice and quick, which was nice. What wasn't nice was that they broke the grill off my truck in the process. The supervisor proceeded to tell me that it was my fault they broke off the grill for not saying anything to them. I thought "car care professionals" would notice a loose grill. Oh well, just shows their incompetence. I was very impressed with how unprofessional they were about the situation. When I asked what we could do about the grill, he said (paraphrased) "You can go buy one and have someone install it, we don't know how to fix it, we are not a body shop. Next time, you should warn us about problems with your car". I left, went to Ace Hardware and fixed the old, broken grill myself. I'm not very experienced with cars, which is one more strike against their competence. If you like your car and being treated like a customer, AVOID THIS PLACE! read more

I previously went to a Midas that was located in Chandler and they were awesome. I then move away from the Chandler area and went to this location because it was close. Since I had such a great experience at the Chandler location I had high expectations for this Midas. I have to say this was the worst customer service I've received. I had called and asked how long it took for an appointment and the man told me 40 minutes. That was perfect since I was on a tight time schedule for that day. I brought my car in at 3 o'clock. I went to the nearest Sonic to kill some time. I arrived back at Midas at 3:40 pm. 40 minutes later, just like the guy told me, they had YET to start my oil change. Instead when I get back the guy tells me that basically my car was falling apart. He had a big list of everything that was wrong with my vehicle when my previous oil change there was little to NOTHING wrong with my car. I went there to get an oil change and a tire rotation. The only thing that was complete was a 40 minute inspection of my car, which I didn't ask for. The tire rotation wasn't even done. I know that because I have one tire that is different than the other and it was in the same spot. They also charged me $5 to top off the fluids and that wasn't done either because when I checked my radiator fluid, it was low and I had to fill it myself. This has been the WORST experience I have ever had. These guy need to tell you something and stick to it. If they tell me an oil change with an appointment is going to take 40 minutes, it better take 40 minutes. They also should not start the oil change 45 minutes after I dropped off my vehicle. I will NOT refer anyone to this location. And, because of them I am very hesitant to go anywhere because of all the bull crap that came out of their mouths. ALSO, when they tell you something is wrong, they make you feel like "what the heck is wrong with you". This guy talked to me like he was my dad. Talking down to me when he does not have the right to do that period. Please, don't go here. Go elsewhere. Went to this Midas for a oil change and a top off for the other fluids in the car because I had a coupon and thought I could save a few dollars but instead I got screwed. The mechanic that worked on my car did not put the cap on correctly when they topped off my coolant which caused all of the the coolant to leak out of my car when I got home. Went to a different mechanic and had to get a coolant flush to get all the air out of my radiator which cost me am extra $200. Also, they did not top off my washer. This place is a joke and I would not recommend going here as I will never go back. If they cannot put a radiator cap on correctly then what can they do correctly! read more

My car was in good shape before I took it into Midas for an oil change. Especially the brakes were excellent before arrival because I had them serviced with new pads at a highly ranked mechanic in Mesa the week before. Midas rotated my tires without my permission as part of an oil change. I was told the brakes were fine. Of course they were, I just had them serviced. Now, however, the front passenger wheel grinds when the brakes are applied. Midas ruined my brakes! I am taking my car to another repair shop this week to repair the problem Midas mechanics caused. Never again. I brought my car in for an oil change and safety inspection as I'm preparing for a road trip. For starters, my 3:30 appointment was on the books at 2:00. I work until 3, why would I schedule an appointment at 2? Anyway, they said they could squeeze me in. Gee, thanks, you can squeeze me in when I showed up at the appointed time? How special I feel. I got the service and paid, they noted on my paperwork that the AC was making noise. Yes, it had been making a slight flapping sound for over a year now, barely perceptible. When I went to drive it out, I turned on the AC, it now sounded like a wood chipper working on a tree trunk. I got no further than backing it out before going back in. I told them it did not make near that sound when I bought it in and asked them to come out and listen. Instead of doing the right thing and looking it over for an estimate, they immediately went into defensive mode, and said "how could that happen from my doing an oil change?". I don't know, I don't care, the AC was not usable due to the loud grinding noise and vibration. I told them my car is under full warranty with the Ford motor company and if it were making that noise, I'd have had it fixed for free, as I now must do. Things escalated and the store general manager, Keith Kramer, began yelling at me and even threw several f-bombs at me in a crowded lobby. How embarrassing for you Keith. Simple statement of fact, this happened while the car was in your possession, not mine. And all you had to say was it wasn't your fault, and that you'll be ready to accept my apology after ford confirmed the part failed and fixed it, even though it failed in your shop. Why would you expect an apology? I should apologize for my car running worse after having it serviced by you? Regardless, being yelled at and sworn at is never acceptable, especially by a general manager. I was shocked when you didn't offer me to pull it in and take a look when I reported the chainsaw noise it was now making. Really a shame, I've been coming to this shop for years with good results, and just began bringing them my newer cars for maintenance rather than the dealerships where I had been taking them. This was the first time this car was there. Unfortunately, there is no amount of goodwill built up over years that can offset your yelling f-bombs at me in the lobby Keith. You'll never see another dime from me, and I suggest remedial customer support classes for your behavior issues. read more

Don't know how I missed everyone else's reviews of this place, but having recently moved to Tempe and needing an oil change ... I swallowed my good sense and went down to ye olde neighbor hood Midas. What a freaking disaster!! My car is a used Subaru that I've owned for six months. The car was in perfect condition when I bought it (I know this as I have the complete Car Fax and have taken it to be serviced regularly since) and was still when I went into Midas. I asked for an oil change. Next thing you know, I'm out under my car with the guy pointing and he's got some fact sheet of things that need to be replaced standard at different mileage point. I tell him that I'll check the Car Fax, don't want to do any other work, just need the oil change. Another five minutes go by, he comes back and tells me my tires are unbalanced. I sigh and ask him what will happen if I don't balance my tires and he says my car will start to shake. Well, I just drove cross country and my car didn't shake one bit ... not even at 100mph. So, I told him to go ahead and balance the tires. Afterwards, my car started shaking on the highway. Immediately. It was instantaneous. I took it back in, now they say that I have two rims bent from hitting something really hard and that's why it's shaking. Oh yeah, and after they worked on it the second time I lost my hubcap later on that evening because apparently the mechanics here can't even put a hubcap back on properly. In the end, I've heard that Good Works in Tempe is private and courteous and awesome, although I haven't gone myself. I will never ever return to Midas unless it is to throw eggs at the building in the middle of the night. read more
