I wish I could give them zero stars. This is the absolute worst shop we have ever gone too. All the mechanics are idiots. I went in for an oil change and came out with $3200 in damage. I took my car there for an oil change, left the shop and two days later we hear something drop out of the engine and thud on the ground. We then saw a lot of oil leaking out. We were right near the shop and decided to take it there. They offered to "fix" it for a case of beer, they said the oil filter was punctured they probably left a tool in my car. After starting it we heard this loud noise almost like a card being held on fan blades. The "mechanic" told my BF it was just a piece of plastic from the undercarriage that was making that noise. The noise started getting worse as days went on and then we took it back now a 3rd time and the idiot tells us there might be a manufacture error with the oil filter and to take it to Mazda. I then take it to Mazda and pay $150 to get it diagnosed and they tell me my engine is damaged because of the oil leak and that Midas probably covered it up by saying they would fix it for free. All they did is damage my engine and could not even diagnose that after going there twice!!! I will be taking them to small a claims court and posting on any review and social media site about their horrible auto shop. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!!!!! read more

I went to this Midas for years because it was close to where I live in Tempe and convenient. But after being ripped off and scammed by these guys I finally went elsewhere (now I go to an independent place in Mesa). They will overcharge you at every opportunity, especially on labor. I'll give you an example. Replacing a fuel hose (because they claimed my other one had a hole in it?) they charged me 150 dollars for the part and 150 dollars for the labor on top!! And they caused so many problems with careless work. TWICE I came in for oil changes and within 24-48 hours, my engine was leaking gasoline (flowing!). Why? The mechanics would "accidentally" knock it lose during their work - and yes, they would charge me to fix it. Great job Midas guys, you bilked me for thousands over the years. 0 stars. I had a minor, very easily fixable gas leak and the manager told me it would cost $1,800 dollars to replace the whole fuel line. Then he tells me he wouldn't fix it for any less than $350. I called beforehand asking for a quote and one guy refused to tell me his name and hung up on me. This is not how you run a business. I bought a hose and clamps for $5 from Autozone and fixed it myself. I don't know about other Midas locations, but this place's slogan should be "trust the Midas made-up prices and terrible customer service." read more

STAY AWAY! They will go the extra mile for you, but why else wouldn't they when they are ripping you off!? Got a quote at another auto shop for a catalytic converter for around $900. Upon using our free oil change coupon at midas, they indicated that I needed work on the catalytic converter. I never asked them about it, they just told me. They gave me an estimate of $1500 to have it worked on! $1500!! Then when I told them I wasn't interested, they gave us every reason in the book as to why it was necessary and why we shouldn't go anywhere else. Ok, so back tracking to our free coupon... We were given a free coupon at our previous visit when we had no choice go there when we had a flat. Upon trying to fix the flat, they "accidentally" broke off one of posts that holds the lugnuts. That day, they also suggested we get our "rotors replaced". We took it to another shop, and that shop told us that the rotors were perfectly fine. read more

First off, I want to say I have never been to a car repair place and been treated so good. I took my car in for an oil change and got more then I bargained for. Not only were the guys there AWESOME specifically Mike and Steve, they made the wait seem like it was five min. They fed me fried fish, and the thing is I do not even eat fish. I had fun talking to the guys and the customer service is wonderful! My breaks no longer squeak, and they did an inspection of my rear brakes and told me they needed to be replaced. The best part is they did not pressure me at all. They quoted me on how much it would cost, and I told them I was not interested at the moment and that was that. They just said to call them when I am. I would recommend taking your car here to get serviced if you want an all around good experience. read more

Zero courtesy when it comes to letting you know when your car is ready for pick up. I had one phone call letting me know what else needed to be done on my car, other than the scheduled oil change. I approved the additional services. But I never received a call thereafter to let me know when everything was complete so I could pick up my car. I went to the location about an hour later asking if my car was ready and they said yes, it's been ready for almost an hour. What a waste of time. read more

I was very impressed with the mechanic / manager Keith Kramer. I brought my 2009 Dodge Caliber in for an oil change and a comprehensive break inspection with a coupon worth $59.00 to be used against the total price of my break work. Keith came to me with two estimates. One estimate for a total repair to carry me another 100K miles and another just for safety to cover me if I didn't mind the leak I had. To me, both estimates were more than I thought was worth for a 5 y/o car and Keith told me to use the car for a trade in on a new vehicle and let the dealership I do the trade-in with worry about the cost to fix the breaks. Keith told me that I'd get top dollar for my Dodge as I had kept the car in excellent condition with the body and interior of the car looking new without a scratch on the body and the interior always detailed. This floored me coming from a mechanic not trying to talk me into spending my money at his shop! And to top it off, Mike only charged me for the oil change and took $10.00 off. I received the Comprehensive break inspection for free (a $59.00 value). This is my third time at this particular Midas. I've found a mechanic I can trust which in this day and age has a probability of around 10%. read more

I took my car in here about a year ago to get some work done, and could not have been happier. I know nothing about cars, and they didn't try to tell me I needed a million things I couldn't afford. They took the time to sit down and explain to me everything that they did. They were so kind and helpful I was in actual shock because that is SO rare nowadays. Fast forward to my next oil change, I moved and thought I would switch to a Jiffy Lube that was more convenient. Spent way too much and what a big mistake. I should have gone to the people I trusted! I ended up back at Midas to fix the problems that Jiffy Lube caused, and ya know what they charged me? A HIGH FIVE. Offered me lunch too! Mike and Keith were amazing. They made sure to keep costs low while making my vehicle safe again. My clutch was not engaging so they replaced the system. When I asked for a full inspection to get everything else out of the way they didn't upsell me on anything I didn't need. Two of my tires were worn down (I had purchased them two at a time in the past due to flats) and they only wanted to replace the front two that needed to be. I had a list of items that another store told me needed replacing, but Midas assured me I would be just fine without the costly repairs. read more

My name is Addison and I have a kia sportage. I would come in all the time to get my car fixed here (bec I didn't know any better). They told me my transmission needed to be fix so I brought it to all pro transmission. All pro of course told me I need a WHOLE new transmission... so I did it. Told my friend they were really professional so my friend went and they told her she needed to go to All Pro And she did... they told her that she needed a whole new transmission. Because she was smart she had a second opinion and it ended up only needing like $300 worth of work instead of 3,000. My dumbass kept going to Midas after because I didnt think they were connected. I brought it in for an oil change and of course there is another huge problem. The main desk girl Dani was like "Who did you have mess with your transmission it looks all over the place there are random hoses hanging from your car." and I replied "the place you told me to take it, All Pro". Well she left the room and came back with Mike 5 mins later. After I mentioned All Pro Mike said, "Your car looks great! In great shape sorry we thought there was loose pipes under your car, but your fine." (What a joke). A couple weeks later I had to come in bec my car was smoking. They said that your car is pretty much done because you didnt put coolant in your car and it failed the test unless you would like to pay... 3,000! at this point my $1500 car is becoming a 10,000 project. I brought my car in not even 3 weeks ago and when I brought my car in you failed to check if the problem was coolant???? I was told every time I brought my car in the first thing you guys check is the fluids and tire pressure and now my engine blew up because of coolant? I finally was smart enough to bring my car to a small garage and they had my car all prettied up for $280 and my engine was fine. Never felt so stupid in my life and I hope this saves other people!!! read more

I have been talking my car to midas for oil changes for 5 years. A few weeks ago I had an oil change and my car was ready after 15 minutes the woman working in the front told me it was ready and everything was great in my car. I wasn't even sure they did an oil change and rotated my tires. A few days later my car would not start so I towed it to Midas because it was the closest auto shop near and they had said everything was great a few days prior. The manager told me I needed a new fuel injector pump so I looked up the price online for a fuel injector pump kit and the part only cost 200.00 brand new. Midas charged me 540.00 for that part and 230.00 for labor. When I questioned them they did not make eye contact with me and laughed about how my car is starting now and before it wasn't. They refused to show me what they repaired or the part they supposedly bought. I will never take my car there again and I warn anyone do not take it to this shop for major repairs. My car is still running really poorly now after picking it up from Midas last week and something else is majorly wrong with it so I am not sure if they even fixed ir. I hate this company. read more

It is so difficult to get an appointment booked here. I've tried several times to book an appointment through the Midas website, and it always says they have appointments available. I request an appointment and the website tells me that someone will be in touch with me within 30 business minutes. Well never once have they actually called in response to my online request. Then when I call them to follow up, they give me attitude and say that their online booking system doesn't really work and they don't have any appointments on the day I requested (even though their online system says that they do). This has happened to me three times in the past year with this location. And every time, the people that answer the phone are SO RUDE. No apology for the faulty online system, no offer to help find an appointment that works for my schedule. Obviously they don't care about attracting customers. The Midas in Scottsdale on 90th street is WAY better - it is so worth the drive to deal with people that are actually professional and nice. I'll never try and book an appointment with this Tempe Midas again. Wish I could give zero stars. read more

I have heard of car care centers that help you car go wrong... they loosen up things and put holes in hoses and nick belts to create business... And of course no one know how it happened... Charged 3.5 times what other midas shops have charged me for oil changes in the last 3 years, was told I needed a new battery so I went to auto zone to double check and they said it was still perfectly fine. So they were just trying to make additional sales. Also they are suppose to check fluids when doing an oil change and yet when I opened my hood I was low on coolant and windshield wiper fluid. Overall I would say you are better off going to the dealership with your vehicle than this midas. read more

I wish I could give negative stars. Brought my car in to diagnose an issue with my window. I brought it to them with the window rolled up, and it was given back to me with an inflated quote of $800 and the window completely stuck down. When I asked if the window could be brought back to normal I was told that it would cost labor. So basically it would cost labor to get my car back to the form it was given to them in. I had my tires rotated as well as new tires placed on my Honda Civic a couple of months ago(approx 4-5 months) at this Midas when I lived in Tempe. I now currently live in Glendale where my tire went completely flat due to a wrench. I was unable to remove my lug nuts due to them being screwed on too tight and had to be broken off. So with no PTO hours to use for Thursday morning work, I had to call AAA to tow my car to a near by tire shop. The lug nuts were screwed on so terribly wrong that when they broke them off, off came the part attached to my car too. So now I'm at my second car shop to fix that problem as well. When calling the supervisor about the unnecessary issue the workers had caused for me he told me to bring my car in and they would get it fixed after telling him lug nuts had to be broke off along with the metal attachment from my car. I am in Glendale about 40 miles from Tempe with three lug nuts on my tire. I had to buy a new tire regardless if they gave me a warranty or not because it's not safe for my spare to be driven on three lug nuts. Can't have it towed because that would cost me more money than it's worth. They did nothing for me but offer things that were out of my way, again running on non paid hours from work, and not reassuring me that it was human error and having empathy for my situation and giving me useless solutions being far from their shop.. I will not be taking my car to Midas ever again. Make sure you are careful when letting them rotate your tires and screwing them back in, or else you'll be screwed. Thanks for the help read more

I was happy with the work these guys did for me at first. I have taken 3 different cars there, all with a/c problems and they seemed to have fixed them for a short while. My newest problem, had them install entire a/c system into my Durango which I went and bought the parts (same parts they would have gotten from AutoZone) for $400 cheaper than what they wanted. They installed all the parts, but I think they may have NOT installed the expansion valve which I did supply. THey gave me a box with the parts they removed, and the old expansion valve was not in the box. The a/c compressor stopped working on saturday before labor day so I took it to them. I got a call from Richard about two hours later telling me it was a faulty wire and I was "good to go". I went and picked up my Durango and after the next day, (which was a holiday) the rear air blew cold and front blew hot. I called a mechanic friend of mine who said it sounds like the expansion valve. I am taking it to him tomorrow and if he tells me the expansion valve was not replaced, I WILL SUE MIDAS.....Dont use these guys. They are nice enough but they will take you for every dime. I will use RONS AUTO SERVICE AND TIRE on Guadalupe and Price from now on. Only reason I didnt use them is Midas is close to home. NEVER AGAIN. read more

THEY DO NOT OVERCHARGE and they are HONEST!!!!! i went from getting an estimate at AAMCO (on n scottsdale blvd) to replace the brakes in my 2006 hummer h3 in which they quoted me $899.00 HA!!! to here getting them done here for $189.00 plus tax! mind you: i work in auto insurance so i see estimates day in and day out and i work with an individual who was a mechanic for 10+ years so i'm not an idiot and take the "cheaper" option wherever i go... i do my research and compare notes with those i trust! my boyfriend has been here quite a bit and they have even done a couple things for free on his car for easy fixes! they are SO helpful and honest! i will definitely be back!!! keith and mike, thank you!!! and i can't remember the lady's name who also helped me (sorry) but she was very sweet too!!! Went in for an oil change, had a coupon. Thought I got a good deal. Oil change was fine. When they were done, they asked me to come out and take a look, they "found another problem". "See this", he said, and pointed to the area around the front wheel in the neighborhood of the strut. "see all the oil? you have a broken strut. struts use oil, and you can see that the oil has leaked out all over." Fine, I said, get me an estimate of what it costs to repair. Estimate came in at around $900+ for parts/labor. I told them I was going to check and see if it was warranteed. I called up another auto service who would come to me and perform the labor at a much lower rate, and bought the struts at O'Reilley. Guy came out today to replace my struts, jacked it up, and says "looks like someone squirted some oil all over, nothing is wrong with your struts, working fine". Guess Midas doesn't have the touch, other than to sucker you in to paying for unnecessary repairs. BEWARE. Get a second opinion. read more

Talk about going the extra, extra nine yards and on one of the hottest day's in the Valley in August to boot! I am temporarily visiting in Tempe on medical business and I needed to have someone check all of the fluids in my car asap. I have been told making sure your car battery has plenty of water is a must when driving daily in the desert heat. I pulled into MIDAS Total Car Care unannounced, walked in the door and said, "Help, I'm hot and tired and I need to make sure my car is a-okay in this heat." Well......meet Mark Carpenter, service representative at MIDAS on Broadway in Tempe. Mark checked all of my car's fluid intakes, educated me in the process and added wind-shild wiper fluid without being asked. Genuine service with a smile really exists and Mark was pleasant and so helpful on a hot day when most people will offer only the bare minimum. So I'm driving from New Orleans to Long Beach when somewhere between San Antonio and El Paso in the blackness of night, an armadillo meets a most unfortunate end against the undercarriage of my Nissan Versa. The poor little "rock with legs" knocked something loose. There was this annoying rattling sound every time I turned the engine on. This sound followed me all the way to Phoenix. I show up to Midas, unannounced. I tried to make an appointment but I didn't check my email. Stupid me. So I show up about three or four hours early. The guys at Midas took me in immediately. I waited about two minutes before my car was in the air and the problem identified. I'd lost a few washers and nuts. Not only did the guys at Midas replace the missing ones, but they reinforced the others. It was over in less than ten minutes. When I went to settle up, I was told "Welcome to Phoenix." My only regret was that I was only passing through. read more
