Got my Oil Changed last week, was informed my battery was low. Battery still under warranty so I got it swapped out for free. I changed out the battery. Last few days, having power issues. Brought in the car and a new technician CHRIS was absolutely awesome. He diagnosed the issue within 5min., tightened up a loose wire that was causing an arc and all is well. Nothing bad to say about these guys. The two at front are great (wish I could remember their names). Excellent customer service. I had no problems scheduling an appointment. I came in for an oil leak, which was pretty bad. Ran a test to find exactly where it came from instead of searching and guessing. Before doing any of the work they told me what they found and gave me a quote for the part and labor to ensure I wanted to move forward. They have a little lounge with a tv and plenty of reading material for your wait. Def pleased. read more

It was my first time in and James was exceptional at resolving our car issues. For being in the car industry, James had the most integrity doing his job. Unfortunately, James had a situation before he assisted me and was trying to give solutions for the customer that but he was too unreasonable. Felt like he wanted to just come in and complain with no direction of what he wanted. Midas let's you walk into their garage and look at the issues at hand but he was adamant of not seeing the issue, seems like he was at fault. After dealing with another local repair shop for brake pads that refused to replace them as part of the lifetime warranty for reasons that made no sense I went to Midas to pay for a complete break job. Since having that break job done there was a loud squeal coming from the brakes but could not be located instead of them blaming it on someone else and doing nothing to help me they replaced the brand new pads again with absolutely no hassle involved. read more

Stellar customer service! Arrived with our Class B van in dire need of brake work. James and JD got us in right away, and hosted us for six hours while our extensive repairs were completed. Not only was the waiting room comfortable (recliner couches, coffee, and water) we were kept updated every step of the way. While there, I consistently heard (from the other room) customers being treated respectfully with clear explanations of what was needed and why, along with approximate cost, both in person and on the telephone. Bought the Groupon and it was not worth it at all. They try to tell you what you can and can not do to your vehicle, and charge extra for it. Went for an oil change and both times ended up spending over 2 hours there. They argued with me about my vehicle and basically refused service if I didn't do what they say. 2 hours later they are tell me the other 15 things they want to scam me on. We can add FRAUD now to my review. The service station across the street repaired the issue. They found two freeze plugs leaking. They stated it looked like someone possibly attempted to change one freeze plug on the engine but the rest were rusted and untouched. I paid Midas just a couple of weeks ago to replace ALL the freeze plugs and they emphasized the extra labor cost to remove the engine and replace the plugs. read more

I've been coming to Midas for about 10 oil changes now, however long that equals out to and without fail the mechanic is always recommending some kind of additional work be done. My brother in law is a mechanic so 9 time's out of 10 I'll have him help me with any repairs that he actually agrees need fixing. This last visit yesterday James reported that the mechanic suggested I get an alignment, new spark plugs and new cabin/air filters. I had an alignment done one my last visit so out of a courtesy to me they made a small adjustment to get my readings in the clear. I told them I wouldn't be getting the filters done today and just wanted to pay for the oil change. I later brought my car over to my brother in law's, who when I arrived said "didn't I just replace these filters for you?" because it hadn't been very long since he did. He removed the glove box of my cobalt to take a look at the Cabin filter and it was never put back in. I called James this morning to ask why my filter was never reinstalled and his response was "well you were going to replace it anyhow right? It doesn't do any damage to the car it just doesn't filter the air." Look James, what if I had wanted 2 weeks to get that filter checked? You're ok with me driving around w unfiltered air? Bottom line. Store manager JAMES called this morning in a feeble "attempt" to address an issue from yesterday at this MIDAS automotive in Scottsdale AZ. He would not let me speak. He was rude implied that I was stupid for complaining to corporate. He told me to go to another shop after I told him to shut his mouth and listen if he wanted to resolve the issue. I would advise until JAMES is gone, do not take your vehicle to this MIDAS store. JAMES can't handle the pressure. ***UPDATE*** James called to offer a sincere apology. He also offered complimentary service as a thank you for continued patronage. I will continue! Tried to Rip me off today! Thank God I have a really smart Daddy! I went to Midas today for an oil change and once they were about to finish up the Manager James came into the waiting area to tell me that I had a nail in my tire that was unrepairable and I needed a new one. He said that the nail was almost in the white wall and it could cause a blow out while driving!!! He told me I could only use my spare for up to 50 miles and I'd need to buy a new tire. But the tire I needed was unique to my Camaro, needed to be ordered and would cost $250. I told him ok if it really had to be done. He said they could have it in an hour. I went outside and called my Dad and told him what was going on. He told me that Midas is known for ripping people off. He said to go out to the garage where they were working on it and see if the nail was in the tread. If it was it WAS repairable. They had already dismounted my tire and taken it off the rim but thankfully the nail was still in it. I walked over and took a pic and sent it to my Dad. He was livid! Yes it was in the tread, and it was also just a roofing nail. (Dad told me that they are very short and wouldn't have punctured threw.) He told me to feel the inside of the tire and see if I could feel it. I couldn't! So he told me to draw a circle around the nail w a piece of chalk and have it taken out w/pliers. The mechanic smirked at me as he did it. And what he pulled from the tread was as small as a shirt button. I grabbed it from him and went back into the office. I showed the manager in front of a long line of people the tiny screw he pulled out, and said "not repairable huh"? The manager opened the door and screamed at the mechanics and went out to talk to them. Everyone in line looked at me and one guy just said "dude that's so messed up"! My Dad was still on the phone w/ me and was saying that they were probably going to sell my tire and pocket the cash I was about to hand them. When James the manager came back in my Dad insisted on me handing my phone to him. James apologized saying he had nothing to do w/ it and that he just fired someone over it. I immediately felt bad that someone just lost their job. But James said "don't feel bad. If a doc told you that you needed an unnecessary surgery that he should be fired. We are like car doctors here." James told my Dad that he hadn't been out at the garage but the truth is he was out there most of the time. I'll leave it up to you, the reader to determine what kind of scam they are really pulling at Midas! (P.S. they told the girl before me in the waiting area that she also needed a new tire, which got me thinking). read more

Horrible. Made an appointment to take my Kia optima 2013 in to get an oil change. Had the coupon for a discounted oil change using conventional (since that is what I have used the past 4 years in that car) that I had previously mentioned over the phone when I made the appointment. Went in, then next thing they're telling me they can only put fully-synthetic in my car and are trying to charge me almost $50 more for it. Left and called my dealership who I bought the car from and also had the entire engine replaced with and they informed me that I can use both conventional and semi-synthetic (which they usually use in their Kia's) and confirmed with me that I DO NOT HAVE TO USE ONLY FULLY-SYNTHETIC OIL IN MY KIA!! Taking my car back to Pep Boys who has been doing my oil changes previously. read more

Purchased a Groupon for $75 for brake pad service. When I arrived I was told that my car uses ceramic brake pads, 30 dollar up-charge. Also was told that my rotors needed to be machined. $60 dollars to machine EACH rotor. $60! Yes $60 dollars to machine one rotor! Yes, as in a rotor that costs about $40 brand new! I'm not completely ignorant when it comes to auto repair; I saw and inspected the rotors myself and they did not need to be machined. What's more, charging $60 dollars for service to one rotor is complete thievery! How many poor, unsuspecting people actually pay for that service! What's more, there was nothing in the fine print about ceramic up-charge nor that machining is not included. Shame on you Midas. Everyone reading this, do yourself a favor and avoid these petty thieves. Also, Midas, update your Groupon fine print before Groupon gets more complaints and drops your company all together. Oh and Midas attempted to reach out, as you can see in their response to my review, but NOTHING was done. I gave them my contact info and nothing became of it. Months and months later, nothing. Tina was extremely nice and went over what they found wrong with my car which was no surprise to me. The other auto shop I went to (not too far) tried to tell me my car battery wouldn't last me another 2 months... still running and that was 4 months ago. this review is overdue! So on Saturday I was driving and I got a flat tire! The worst right!! So here I am on the side of the road DEAD PHONE!! 115 outside staring at this blown out tire. I have no idea how to change a tire and I had just got my nails done. I'm literally about to start crying when this guy pulls up and asks if I need help! So I'm kinda nervous because he's kinda big guy but hey I did need help so I said yes. He took my flat off and put on my spare. He gave me his business card his name was James he worked for Midas. I wanted to pay him, or buy him lunch, but he refused. I tried to insist but he told me he was actually on his way to the ER HE HAD BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT!! This guy IN PAIN stopped to help me!!!!! Imagine how much better the world would be if everyone was this selfless. This guys wife is a lucky woman. When I need ANYTHING I will be going to James at Midas. read more

Thank the heavens above for my savior John! Good ol' Johnny boy helped me with my Scion to get the coil on the spark plugs replaced. When I came in he asked if I had ever been there before and I told him no. His response was, "well welcome to the best Midas!" How jolly! I feel like most employees in the auto industry are cold and impersonal, which is why I was so stoked! He was straight up about what I needed to get fixed and what I should get fixed but could probably survive without, which is really helpful when your scrimping on the mula. I was also impressed that John under promised and over delivered. He warned me that the car might not be done tonight and that I would need to wait to pick my car up until the next day (I dropped the car off at 3pm, so I was expecting this). This place is aweful! Me and my husband paid over a 1000 for a brake job where they supposedly replaced a master cyllinder in the car. We took the car to another place to get repaired and found out that they never replaced the master cyllinder and they charged us almost 400 bucks for it. I went down to the manager and he denied everything! He basically called me and the place that was servicing my car liars too! I was furious! This place is to not be trusted at all!! read more

Both encounters with the 2 different managers made me feel comfortable with the work I was getting done on my truck. Even pointed out that the alignment I got a week earlier at a different Midas was way off and needed to be reset. Even offered to fix it if the other Midas did not guarantee their work. I've been here several times for oil changes using their Groupon. In the past id been pretty content with their service. However, this time the guy at the desk seemed annoyed and tried to tell me that there was an additional $10 fee because of the oil my car needs? I have a corolla. And the oil for it is 5w30 (which is in the groupon) which he tried to tell me was not the appropriate oil. Then I googled it to check and sure enough it said my car took 5w30. He said he made a mistake but that my car did need the synthetic blend which would be the extra charge. But it states that the groupon is good for blends as well.... I walked away not happy with them trying to get more money out of me. Also, for someone who does this as their job I would expect them to be knowledgeable about what kind of oil to use. Kind of alarming. He came in later and said he would "let it slide" this time but to be aware for next time. Well let me tell you, there won't be a next time. I don't appreciate someone trying to upsell me and lying about it. Especially with an annoyed demeanor. They need to work on their customer service. I won't be returning. ....UPDATE.... they asked for my information to contact me regarding this issue and never called. Just trying to look like they are doing something to help their dissatisfied customers. read more

I had a Groupon for a conventional oil change and I was unaware that my car cannot take conventional oil, I've always just taken it to the dealership for oil changes. The Groupon I purchased would make it cheaper for me to get my oil changed at Midas instead of the dealership. Well in making the appointment the rep from Midas told me my car can't take conventional oil and it would be a $30 up charge. I can get my oil changed at my dealership for cheaper than that so I told him never mind and became very rude and condescending about how I can't put conventional oil in my car, assuming that's what I was going to do. I've worked in customer service for over 6 years so I usually don't like to leave bad reviews but I was just so taken aback at how I was treated that I couldn't let go. If that's the customer service you want to put forward then I have no interest in doing future business with you. read more

Quick, low price, super friendly, and they KNOW what is wrong with your car. Came here after going to Walmart where they just tested my battery and said it was fine. My car didn't start the other day so I was worried it would be a more expensive problem. It was probably around 4:30 and this location got me in and did a computer diagnosis - starter and alternator were fine, it was my battery! They had the opportunity to pull one over on me and do a more expensive repair but they didn't. Plus they got me in fast and figured out the problem in 2 min and had it fixed in about 10 min. Since they were so nice and had a great price I ended up getting a quote for some shocks and tires (I knew I needed them) and since it was so nice to finally find someone I can trust, and they were able to do it all by the next day and give me a rental car, it was a no brainer. Their quote on the shocks was half of what the dealer quoted me!! Finally found an auto repair shop I can trust. read more

This place is HORRIBLE!!! I have been going to this Midas for at least 10 yrs and for the last 2 yrs or so it has been a nightmare. I would take my car in for something, pay a ton of money only to keep having the same problem. The last straw was I took it in for a routine oil change, they told me I needed to have my rack & pinion replaced, so I had to finance they amount for them to fix it. Immediately after they replaced it, my steering wheel made a loud clicking noise when I turned the wheel so I took it back. They said they couldn't find anything wrong, couldn't get it to make the clicking noise. I got my car back and when I left I immediately heard the same clicking noise. Was sooooo pissed, and having no confidence in Midas any longer I took it to another mechanic to have them drive it and see if they had an idea of what it was before I took it back to Midas again, just so I had some ammo, and they said that when they put my steering column back in they didn't get it in just right and that was what was causing the clicking. I took it BACK to Midas AGAIN, and even told them what the other mechanic said but instead they said I needed another part. I bought the part, they put the new part in and guess what, drove away with the same clicking noise in my steering column. James and his entire staff are so incredibly incompetent it's unbelievable and it just disgusts me. And they are so lazy, I have an interlock device and they were so lazy they actually kept asking me to drive over there to blow in my interlock device just so they could move my car from the bay and back out. They didn't even test drive it when they were done. I drove my own car out of the bay right after they installed it. I would love to find out how to contact the owner of that location but I am so sick of dealing with them. read more
