Signs that you've found a great, honest car place: - able to offer a deal on some things but don't give you a deadline to decide to pressure you, a great value for the quality of service offered - offers warranty on select services - even if you're not super knowledgeable about cars, they still take the time to show you exactly what they're seeing that needs to be fixed, not all service places offer that transparency - they're thorough, checks everything and checks Carfax to make sure that everything is up to date - even when they were busy, they were able to do a big fix for me and my suspension in a timely manner and my car has been driving smoothly ever since - If you need to stay while, they've got popcorn, soda, water, coffee, electrical outlets to charge your devices and a clean bathroom Most importantly, Alex, the manager and his staff members were great. They treated my little 2005 car as if it was their family member's car and they fixed it for longevity. TERRIBLE SHOP. Come here if you want to destroy your car and get your mileage changed. Went in for an oil change and they drained my oil then never put new oil in. They then proceeded to say that it's not their problem since it wasn't during there shift. Also caught them changing the numbers on my mileage during oil changes and denied it after proof was shown. I wouldn't wish this service on my worst enemy. Simply just go to a different shop, this one needs to get shut down. If you've "I've been doing this longer than you've been alive" - John. if that's the case put oil in my car like you're payed too because engines don't work without oil Mr. mechanic. read more

These guys were great. I realized I needed a full synthetic oil change on my RAV4 right before driving 1,800 miles to Denver. Very bad planning on my part. However, Midas was able to get me in within an hour with such short notice. Other shops I called were more expensive and weren't able to get me in today. Knowing I was in a hurry to get on the road, they changed my oil and I was back out the door on less than an hour. Their customer service front desk person was excellent. The waiting area is clean, free coffee and popcorn, and has a nice smart TV where I watched YouTube videos while I waited. My only complaint was the minor spillage of oil around the oil fill location on the engine and some oily finger prints around the starter button on the dash and steering. I had just cleaned the engine area when I changed the spark plugs day before, so it was obvious. Only a minor issue, as I mentioned. read more

On Dec 11th I went into Midas for a transmission fluid change. I was also given a list of things that were wrong. A leaking trans axle CV boot & my rear shocks were leaking. A week later I got a text offering me a "FREE" oil change. On Jan. 6th went in for my "free" oil change. I asked what brand of oil they were putting & was told they use a local supplier & never gave me a brand name. Do they use recycled oil?? They do advertise that they use Valvoline. On the following Saturday before I started my car I checked all my fluids & discovered that the oil level was at least one quart over filled. I went back to Midas to show them. The first guy I saw checked it & said it looked fine & what I saw was probably due to the "sloshing" around. I told him that it was checked before I even started the car. He brought it into shop for someone else to check it, I assume it was the tech who did the original service. He looked at it & seemed to have the attitude of "whatever" & walked away. Another guy came out & looked & confirmed that it was at a quart over filled. They said they would drain & refill. After thinking about it, & not having any trust in the shop I decided not to bring the car back to that shop & scheduled an appointment with the local Hyundai dealer. Today, Jan. 13th, I had the oil change & as routine they inspected the whole car. There was no leaking CV boot & no leaking shocks. So, my "FREE" oil change wound up costing me $80.00 plus shop fees, disposal fees & tax. The old saying that "there is no free lunch" is so true. Be very very careful if you use this shop, & definitely get a second opinion on anything they tell you. read more

I hate doing this, but I have to warn others about my experience at the Midas in Scottsdale. I brought in my 2018 Jeep Compass for a routine oil change. A week later the battery died, so I jumped the car and returned to Midas. They told me there were all sorts of issues and quoted me around $3,000 in repairs. They said my radiator had to be replaced, the radiator pipe had a leak, and many other problems. I declined and went to another shop, which determined the only problem was that my battery didn't fit my Jeep. I paid $600 for a proper battery and everything was fine. Fast‑forward: a friend took her car to the same Midas for an oil change. They told her she needed new brake pads and tires. Despite my warning she had them replaced--and now, after spending about $1,000, she's at another shop getting everything redone after more problems happening. When I explained my situation to the other mechanic, he told me this Midas location frequently over‑diagnoses problems. Both my friend and I are women and felt like we were treated as easy cash grabs. If you're considering taking your vehicle to this Midas, be aware of these experiences and get a second opinion. I was informed that I had a transmission leak, some sort of crack. They would need to drain all fluids, replace them as well as a gasket and the seal and pan. Two guys in the shop made a very big deal about how serious this issue was. I had a bad feeling about the employees and declined. I went to a local Nissan dealer for a second opinion only to find out there was no leak or crack anywhere, just some residual grease. It was suspect from the beginning because my car only has 22k miles and "their" fluid report showed normal levels of transmission fluid. Shame on you for making someone stress over an unnecessary car repair ( I felt like I was being taken advantage of for being a woman). I won't return. read more

Terrible Experience - Avoid This Place at All Costs! I had the worst experience at this shop, dealing with an uncooperative manager. I took my Jetta in for a simple coolant tank replacement and was reassured by the manager, who said, "My wife has the same car, we just had the same problem--easy fix." That was far from the truth. Of course, they "found" oil leaks and other issues. One week later, they told me, "We fixed everything--it'll be $3,500." I paid, turned on the car, and immediately saw the Check Engine light. Not a good sign. I had to leave the car there again, costing me more time--time I couldn't work since I had already used up all my remote working days. Before authorizing the repairs, I specifically asked the manager if my car would be reliable and safe afterward or if I should just sell it. He assured me it would be good to go for a long time. Fast forward one month later--the car is still leaking oil and coolant. I took it to VW for an inspection, and their report was shocking: The repairs from this shop were done incorrectly. Wrong hoses, wrong parts. They couldn't even confirm that the vacuum pump I was charged for was actually replaced--it didn't look new at all. VW quoted me the same amount of money ($3,500) to properly fix everything. When I confronted Midas with VW's findings--pictures, reports, everything--they refused to refund me or cover the cost for VW to do the repairs. Instead, they insisted they needed a "chance to fix their work," despite my trust being completely gone. I left my car there again because I couldn't afford another $3,500 out of pocket. A week passed--no updates. I called, and the manager gave me more ridiculous excuses. Eventually, I went to pick up my car, and he claimed everything was "fixed"--the same lie I had already heard before. So now, I'm: $3,500 out of pocket for nothing. Lost two weeks of work due to their delays. Still dealing with a car that leaks oil and coolant. This place is completely unprofessional--terrible service, terrible customer care. DO NOT TRUST THEM. If I could give negative stars, I definitely would. I brought my vehicle in because my AC was working but not blowing as cold as I would like. When they were done with my car, my AC was completely broken and I was also charged $250 for the service when nothing was fixed. Now my AC now is not working at all. I would've been better off going somewhere else. If they didn't know how to fix AC I wish they would have just said that instead of damaging my vehicle. This is the worst experience I have ever had and I do not recommend anybody going here unless you would like to have your car damaged. read more

The deals are good when they have promotions on general service...shameful that upon each visit they somehow find a way to come up with things that need to be replaced. Funniest one was when they recommended a part I had literally installed a day prior. I was intellectually impressed by the passion he expressed. Going above, and beyond to assure all my needs were professionally met. As I was waiting for my car to be maintenance, Ray and I had a intellectual conversation about principles of life, including sobriety, and being an integral human being. Incorporating a warm, hospitable environment that I have never experience during oil change. This was my first time going to this station. I needed to get an immediate transmission flush and would have normally gone to my mechanic that I've been going to for 20th years but he was swamped. I was quoted $160 for the service from Midas. I paid for it and a day later the car still sounded funny. I took the car to my mechanic and he said it needed transmission fluid. I paid him $75 for the service and went back to Midas to figure out what I paid for. They said they did the service and would say much else. I feel that either they forgot to do the service and marked it down as done or they screwed up and wouldn't admit they were at fault. Last time I will ever go there. read more

This review is about 2 months overdue. They get a 1 because they do oil changes well. However, this location tried to get me for over $1k. I took my car in right before memorial weekend for an oil change. The guy called me and said that I should not drive anymore without doing $1k in work because my struts were leaking, my front axle was bad, and my tires were bad and would pop any day. Out the gate, this didn't sound right to me. I did a diagnosis and I had another company do a quick check. I decided to risk it and make the 600mi round trip drive and I was FINE! I took my car to a Kia dealership and they said everything was FINE! I did the same drive on 4th of july weekend and it was FINE! They will over charge you charge you for things that you do not need. They will swear up down in your face you need the work and you have to end up bringing it back because it doesn't fix the problem. All I had was a little pull which are common signs of a wheel alignment, the told me I needed to replace both control arms. FALSE. The car still pulled after spending $1600 on controls arms. Got an alignment and it was fixed‍ on top of it when I replaced the controls arms the tech did not tighten to spec so I had a popping noise when I turned and had to take it back AGAIN.
