I've taken both my vehicle and my wife's vehicle around 12 times over the past three years to this location. The management staff is professional and courteous. They've provided honest opinions on the work that needs to be done. The team works quickly no matter how busy it gets. And it's safe to say that they offer some of the best deals imaginable on the parts that they put in. I'm skeptical of mechanics simply because I know nothing about cars and feel this sense that I'm getting ripped off. However, these guys do a great job the first time and give you a fair deal. Even my wife was comfortable going by herself. A lot of women don't feel comfortable going to a mechanic because of the fear of getting ripped off, but she feels completely comfortable going in there because she doesn't feel that way. I just visited this Midas location today and just wanted to say how impressed I was. The manager is named Fadi and he bent over backwards to help my daughter's car today. This is a One-Stop shop. I was there for just an oil change but I also needed an alignment and two front tires. Instead of going to three different shops they did everything for me at this place. Believe me when I say that over here at the Poway location are very honest, which is hard to find nowadays. I had brought my car in on a Saturday morning and was met by a gentleman named Fadi. My vehicle's rear right section was making a really bad grinding noise. Long story short, I wasn't up sold on anything that my vehicle did not need. I was kept updated on the status of my vehicle. Fadi explained to me what was wrong with my vehicle and the price it would cost to get it done. I've had a lot of bad experiences with OTHER places when it came to getting my car repaired. They work on my car on September, my car get worst than before they touched, I took my car to the same place, after two hours one of the mechanics told me your car makes clicking noise with the same part that they changed for me , their manager Anthony he made appointment for me on Monday , I took my car to the place on Monday which is I already waited 5 days, first of all the guy told me you don't have Any appointment with us for today!!! That's ridiculous!!! He said that's on Anthony drop your car for a while or take it to the Convoy Anthony will be there ! He said I don't have right technician for your car and it's not fair to give your car to the different person! It doesn't make any sense to me , how this company doesn't have even one technician that can work on bmw???? All of the sudden another man showing up, he said leave your car and we will figure it out, I wonder how when I paid $1246 for 3 part they had right technician but for warranty they don't have right technician??? Had my car serviced at dealer and they recommended new rear brake pads. Had my brakes replaced at this shop previously so I went back since replacement pads are free. Bill came out to over $500. They replaced pads, new rotors and brake fluId flush. Out of convenience I agreed to service. A week later I Called dealer, asked about the previous inspection. They said rotors had looked fine. And the cost for rotor replacement at dealer was less than this shop. Not saying that this shop is dishonest, but be aware of any recommendations they gIve. Oh and they offered to change front brakes at discount, which again was more than dealer. I used to go to this shop before but there seems to be a great number of new employees. Great service, pleasant working with this shop from the first call. Price adjusted for this big job based on discussion of research - THANK YOU. My mobile mechanic detected that the noise I have been concerned about for so long was coming from the exhaust manifold and told me to head to Midas. Spoke to Drew over the phone and we were totally on the same page; I understood what the implications were if it ended up being cracked vice just a leak at the gasket. I brought it in in the morning and hung out while they did the diagnostics - the gasket was the suspect (phew)! I asked them to please do it same day (it's a big job) and they were able to make that work. Juan was a doll to work with. They made sure I understood their findings and since I am interested pointed out what they were seeing. Provided a military discount but ultimately lowered the cost differently after I did a little research - thank you for such an accommodation. And to think a previous mechanic some time ago couldn't find the issue and told me I needed a new engine! Thanks, Midas, Juan, Drew and crew for your thoroughness. Been going to Midas for years, but my last trip was horrible. My brakes were worse when I left. Juan the manager, explained they shaved the rotors because they didn't have replacement rotors, but ensured me it was safe. They also dismantled my parking break, without repairing it. If I have to give a rating just for his customer service and support, I would give A++ rating (Call it as 5+)... Recently I had an issue with my CX-9: Windshield wiper fluid won't spray. I like the honest opinion of this Poway Midas. Dealer recommended a brake job (rear axle) and brake fluid flush totaling about $400. Would have been more to replace the 2 worn rotors. This place did the rear brake job (replacing the 2 worn rotors (old car)), and said brake fluid was still in good condition. I got the brake pads free because I had my previous brake job done at Miramar Midas a couple of years ago. Bill was around $230. They did not try to upsell me on anything. read more

I called around today to various auto places in the area to get price quotes for fixing the family minivan's air conditioner. It's actually been out of commission for two years--yes, we suffered through 2 summers of unbearably hot & sweaty drives around town for 24+ months--but with a new baby in the family now, we really couldn't keep putting it off any longer (we were worried for the little guy since his car seat faces backward, and he can't even feel air coming in from rolled-down windows). Not only was Midas the cheapest quote by far, but I'd taken my car down there before for an oil change in the past (quick review on that -- everything went great -- A+ there). The guy on the phone quoted me an extremely reasonable price for a standard A/C service but said that since we didn't know exactly why the A/C wasn't blowing cold air (it just stopped at some point along the way back in 2011), they could do a test to check for leaks. The test was going to be $49.xx, if I remember correctly, but that fee would go toward the cost of the service. Sounds good. My husband and I headed down there, and the very nice guy I'd spoken with on the phone was the one who met us and initially helped us. I really wish I could remember his name because he really went out of his way for us, and I never once thought he was lying or trying to scam us (always a worry whenever you go to a car repair place). We told him that if there was a leak that, unfortunately, we really wouldn't be able to fix it now since the repairs would be way out of our price range. He offered to do a quick check for us and discovered, sadly, that there was a very small leak after all. *sigh* BUT! They offered to add stuff to basically slow the leaking process so we could have semi-temporary air conditioning for maybe a year or two (better than paying hundreds to fix the faulty parts). And all of this for the original price we were quoted -- no, they didn't even raise the price on us. AND! Later we found out from the manager (Mark, if I remember correctly) that one of the hoses blew up and pretty much fell apart while they were working on everything, but that they had one left in stock and went ahead and replaced it for free. Come again? Yes, a $30-something dollar hose for free! If that wasn't enough, the workers even stayed past their shifts to finish it all, too! My husband and I were just beside ourselves. These guys really went above and beyond for us. Seriously. I feel like we were totally blessed by God today. Obviously, I highly recommend this place and would definitely go back there. (Oh, and on the drive home, I actually laughed and told my husband I was freezing because the air was so cold.) read more

What a joke. I don't even know where to begin. They misdiagnosed my car, estimated it would be $400 to fix, needed to order a part that was never ordered, then played phone tag and repeatedly danced around with me for 3 weeks until I took the car to another garage to get it fixed in an hour for a third of the price. I had a busted turn signal. One day they all just stopped working. I'm new to the area and thought it would be a simple fix so I took it to Midas while also getting the battery checked as well as an oil change. Well, they diagnosed the issue as a broken turn signal switch. Gotta get a new one. Manager 1 said he can order it directly from Nissan and it'll probably be in on Tuesday (this was on Thursday). Estimate for fixing is $400 including the $50 diagnostic fee waiver. Tuesday comes and goes. Then Wednesday. It's on Friday when I call to see what's going on and Manager 2 has no clue what I'm talking about. He says he'll get in contact with Manager 1 and call me back. Not sure what happened because while I received a missed call, they didn't bother to leave a message and I'm not playing phone tag on a Friday afternoon when they obviously already dropped the ball. Monday rolls around and I talk to Manager 3 who again has no idea what I'm talking about, but credit to him as he actually did the footwork to find out what needed to be done. He also has good customer service skills. Apparently Manager 1 never ordered the part. So I'm given a quote also for a used part. Funny that a used option wasn't previously given to me. I should mention that while waiting patiently for these guys to contact me for several days, I took the car into another garage to get the battery replaced and told them about the turn signal. They doubted Midas' diagnosis and offered to repair it, but I thought let's give Midas a chance since I've already invested a little in this with them and they've seen the car. Supposedly. Anyway, Manager 3 and I play phone tag for over a week which got really old really fast since I was told he'd be working at this time but then when I'd call he'd be gone for the day. Really? I'd leave messages for him in the morning and they weren't returned until the next day, or in one case until after the long weekend. Eventually I said screw it and took the car to the other garage. They correctly diagnosed it as a busted hazard switch which shares a circuit with the turn signals. They needed to order a new switch for $38 but in the meantime they temporarily restored power to turn signals. A week later when the part was in they fixed it. In total they probably spent an hour working on the car and everything was fixed for $150. $150 and an hour vs. $400 and three weeks. And that would have been three weeks for nothing because their diagnosis was wrong. Look, I think Midas is fine for simple things like oil changes and battery checks, but once you start doing anything slightly more complicated just do yourself a favor and go to a seasoned mechanic. I took mine to Midland Auto Repair a couple miles down the road. Tons of good mechanics in that complex. By the way, a couple of the 5 star reviews on this page are from Midas employees. Take that for what it's worth. The misdiagnosis isn't even what angers me the most. It's just the incompetent management. I'm told one thing and they do another. Just go down the road. Far more qualified mechanics to look at your car and do business with. read more

Drivers beware!! Zero stars if I could. Disappointing experience. I'd gone to the other one in Clairemont, and the guy at this location was talking up his location as so much better. Shoulda stayed where I was. In short, I keep good track of my mileage and after I came here, I found my car gets 80 miles less per tank. They also told me I needed more coolant. When I went to fill it, the cap was broken off so now I'm stuck with it in place while my levels continue to decrease. I have no idea what they did to my car but I'm not bringing it back there. Now I have to spend more time and money to take it somewhere else to somehow unscrew my broken cap and figure out why my mileage significantly dropped so quickly. I initially thought it was a fluke, but its been consistently low for 4 months already. No way this is by chance. Even when I needed a new air filter was it this poor. It also started making a funny sound when I turn my key to start the engine. They've definitely tweaked my car and the part that sucks the most is that you can't exactly watch them work on your car when they have it on the lift or see what they're doing to it. I trust Midas. These guys are the real deal. They know good business is the best way to make money, not by ripping people off. They are genuine people who just want to fix your car, and get you driving again. I've taken a couple vehicles here, and they have done nothing but amazing work for a great price. I used to go to a little mom and pop type place who would claim to give me a discount on the labor but the parts would always be ungodly amounts. But with Midas, I know I'm getting a fair price, and I'm comfortable in saying that they are honest people. The guys at the counter are so pleasant: Aaron, Drew, Dan, all of them. I feel good walking in knowing I'm being taken care of. I got a $15 oil change here! AND they only charge you when they find the problem (I think for AC they have a diagnostic fee) but for everything else, they only charge you when you tell them to fix it!
